1641  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 3 Days Electrum Unconfirmed [Mid fee never this slow?] Help! on: May 17, 2017, 04:21:46 PM
@HCP

thank you for your help,
but this week iam paying and paying fees. the last time i sendet btc it was not so expensive.
now i have a payment with "replaceable"
means that the btc coming back? i pay higher fees for that. must i wait a little big longer and the btc come back
in my wallet?

It means you can retroactively bump the fee for that transaction. Right click on it in the history tab to see the option to do that.

1643  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: unconfirmed transaction -> low fee on: May 17, 2017, 04:17:32 PM
Yeah go for child pays for parent (CPFP). Set the fee slider in the cpfp window to as far to the right as you can afford. Then in the next window click "sign" and then "broadcast"

RBF is sort of similar in the interface in that you have to right click on the transaction and select a higher fee. It will then make a replacement transaction that will bump the fee of the original one.

You don't have to do both rbf and cpfp. only one will suffice.

Also don't use old versions of electrum because they have bugs related to transaction fees that have since been fixed in the latest version so use the latest. Be sure to enable dynamic fees in preferences and set "Propose replace-by-fee" to "always".
1644  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What does "transactions -> use change address" do? on: May 15, 2017, 12:02:24 PM
Yes the thing about bitcoin is that inputs have to be signed individually even if they are all from the same address. This may change in the future if they manage to introduce shnorr signatures.
1645  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Wanted to know the transaction fees to confirm the transaction fast on: May 14, 2017, 11:00:36 AM
1) Upgrade to the latest electrum version

2) Go to tools menu > preferences > fees tab. Make sure you check "Use dynamic fees" and set "Propose replace by fee" to "Always".

3) Do a Child pays for parent (CPFP) transaction on your unconfirmed transactions.
1646  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum problem on: May 14, 2017, 10:56:37 AM
You should do cpfp. Where is the cpfp transaction? You haven't done it have you?
1647  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What does "transactions -> use change address" do? on: May 14, 2017, 10:47:45 AM
no I'm talking about the cost overhead in the form of fees when you try to combine change balances for inputs. I'm actually interested in what you guys suggest people do with change seeing as you don't see this as a conflict.. wallets don't efficiently use them..

There is no additional overhead. When you got to spend your bitcoin the inputs to the transaction still have to be signed regardless of which address they were originally made out to.
1648  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum problem on: May 13, 2017, 06:15:38 PM
oh sorry bro 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu  its not my addres. i apologize for this

What is this?! You said in the OP you sent 0.2 btc to an exchange. In the transaction you posted 0.2 btc is being sent to the address 1Jb.. and change of 0.003166 is being sent back to your wallet change address 3KX.. So please don't make silly mistakes like these. The address 3K belongs to your wallet. You will find it under "change" on the addresses tab.

https://blockchain.info/tx/eb6b856df20fd2a98afd7a9e583b993879e3930a84380d9a803b64464d82ee3d

Now CPFP is very easy. Follow these instructions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5zchm8/sent_transaction_with_low_fees_in_electrum_can_i/dex2alq/

You can do CPFP because one of the output addresses belongs to your wallet. That is the change address 3K.
1649  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: warning : your wallet has an unsupported seed version on: May 13, 2017, 06:07:22 PM
I suggest renaming your wallet file and then restoring from seed. To rename the wallet file first find the default_wallet file in this directory:

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#where-is-my-wallet-file-located

And rename it. Then run electrum and it should display the wallet creation wizard. Select the option to restore from seed, enter your seed words and complete the process to get your wallet.

1650  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Moved btc from one address to another address within my same Electrum. Btc gone? on: May 13, 2017, 05:31:24 PM
In that case it looks like you are the victim of a malware attack like HCP said. This PC of yours should now be considered suspect. You should backup the seed words of your electrum wallet (wallet menu > seed), reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows on it.

It is indeed possible to use an offline computer as a safer wallet. Another option is to create a multisig wallet where two wallets on two separate devices (like a PC+mobile or two PCs)must sign off on any spending transactions. This way if one device is infected with malware the malware author cannot steal your bitcoin because the other device won't sign off on any transactions.

Offline computer wallet aka cold storage: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html
Multisig: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/multisig.html

Electrum does have an android version which you can use for multisig together with your PC.

I also suggest looking into copay wallet. I found it very easy to do a multisig setup with that. Copay supports mobiles and PCs too.
1651  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Not able to send my bitcoins through my Electrum desktop wallet - HELP ? on: May 13, 2017, 05:25:55 PM
try switching to a different server. click the orb icon in the bottom right of the window to select a different server.

I am using windows standalone 2.6.3 version of Electrum wallet, its a widnows desktop wallet, and as you said i saw their in network area and it is clicked as "select server automatically" so when i take that tick i am not getting list of other network to select as you said it.

even same i am having problem. my coins are stuck and i wanted them urgently

that's a very old version. you should upgrade to the latest version. there have been many bug fixes since 2.6.3 so perhaps your problem is also fixed in the latest version.
1652  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Moved btc from one address to another address within my same Electrum. Btc gone? on: May 13, 2017, 11:48:52 AM
Ok, Coin-keeper, I think I got it (might need to read it a few times more so I can get a 'picture' in my mind) and thanks for future help! I've got a quesion though: is what you explaining "some what" like having a formated computer that has never touched the interwebs, and then you use, let's say electrum because I'm familiar with it, and sending all the coins to an address to that computer? In "some what" i mean if that is about safe enough for now, because my sister is about to by a new puter and I can surely have her old one. And have that like a hard wallet?
Abdussamad, I tried running the command but got syntax error "unexpected token ("1EWvt2QYX6KSKHrMT1yZdhHE7F44tJzscX");
I have tried the ' and ' instead of , but same error.
Ok, just a pretty important ques: is it safe to still have my coins on my Electrum wallet(s)?
I found a few malware programs but is it someone how might know the very, very BEST for Linux?! Hehe...

Did you run it on the console tab of the electrum window? Because that's where you run it not in a linux terminal window.

Also try omitting the semicolon at the end (force of habit Smiley).
1653  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Very Urgent - PENDING transaction for days on: May 13, 2017, 11:47:32 AM
I did that and it only wasted my bitcoins. This feature doesn't work.

You have to set a fee that is high enough for 2 transactions. So maybe you didn't set a high enough fee.

The problem is even worse: None of transactions got refunded! The destination (receiver - to whom i wanted to pay) bitcoin addresses were changed in the meantime and all my bitcoins are lost. I didn't get any refund. Only balance disappeared.

If the transactions confirmed then it is not the fault of electrum or the bitcoin network. The fault now lies with the recipient. Just because they gave you a different address for your NEXT transaction doesn't mean that they no longer control the address from the previous transaction. So take this up with them. Send them a link to the relevant page on a block explorer to show them that you have paid.
1654  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Not able to send my bitcoins through my Electrum desktop wallet - HELP ? on: May 13, 2017, 09:05:09 AM

1655  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Moved btc from one address to another address within my same Electrum. Btc gone? on: May 12, 2017, 10:57:25 AM
OP says he moved his coins TO the 1DPdT875jAn3KF4eRdSbopiqVEGhvbAZFi address... which would be this transaction.

The change address still has funds in it. It's very strange but most of the transactions to 1EW are like that. Change addresses are left untouched. What sort of malware leaves money behind?

OP you can check if a particular address belongs to your wallet using this command typed on the console tab:

Code:
print ismine("1EWvt2QYX6KSKHrMT1yZdhHE7F44tJzscX");

If it displays true then the address is yours.

1656  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: change electrum wallet password for all computers?? on: May 12, 2017, 07:58:15 AM
You could save your encrypted Electrum wallet.  Then copy that encrypted wallet file to another computer (with Electrum already installed).  You would have to update the wallet by going online if any activity has happened since the saved file was made.  Always keep the SEED in any case as its Electrum's fail safe recovery mechanism.  This procedure while safe, is not the ordinary way to go about accomplishing Electrum use on multiple computers.  Wondering if this would work?

Yes it would work but I wouldn't consider it safe. There is some risk involved with this too because wallet passwords can be bruteforced.

A safer way of doing this is to create a watch only wallet. You can grab your master public key from the wallet menu and use that to restore a wallet on the other device. This way you can view balances and transactions but your bitcoins will not be at risk because there is no seed in the watch-only wallet.
1657  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: change electrum wallet password for all computers?? on: May 12, 2017, 07:54:11 AM
Should thought that if u had the seed u could make a global password for all the computers u ever used ur seed to login at, but if u cant then yes. The best way is to make a new Wallet and only use that one instead!

Electrum is not a centralized service that controls your wallets so this could never happen. You really need to stop thinking of it like that. The entire idea of bitcoin is that you are in control of your money and you alone are responsible for it.
1658  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Very Urgent - PENDING transaction for days on: May 12, 2017, 07:51:47 AM
why did you not use the cpfp option? right click on the unconfirmed transaction and use child pays for parent to bump the fee:

1660  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem with signing messages in Electrum "error (false, x)" on: May 11, 2017, 06:18:55 AM
The problem hasn't been solved yet. Earlier I had signed messages with electrum without any problem, but today when i was in an urgent need to sign message, it showed this error : "(False,0)"
Please fix this asap !

The OP's post is from 2016. You say it isn't fixed yet so does that mean you've updated to the latest version of electrum? Because there have been a lot of bug fixes since `16
