16461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Problems with synching on: October 17, 2014, 09:49:37 AM
Multibit is the wallet that's most convenient to use. I feel it's as secure as core wallet for the simple user and there's no blockchain hassle.

But yeah, you'll have to have a working and synced core wallet to export the keys and import them into multibit.

(I used the similar Dogecoin core wallet and Multidoge for a similar task and it worked, I am almost sure it's the same with BTC wallets)

I thought that's just another "bird flu", to increase the sales of the (oh, poor) pharma companies.
I see it's more than that! Interesting!
16463  Economy / Economics / Re: why do people agree to pay taxes? on: October 16, 2014, 02:11:06 PM
Some of the taxes are good. They make or maintain roads, they pay your medic (in some countries) of that.

The problem is the amount of those taxes and the way they are used. Because the "government" pays the "law enforcement" from our money to punish us if we don't pay those taxes.
But since the beginning of "civilization" the rich asked money from the poor and paid the "police" to protect them (yes only the rich) from the others.

The government will not change the "law" i.e the current way the county works because it would be against their benefit.

The solution is a completely new form of government - which needs a clean / correct philosophy and a (global?) revolution. How achievable you think is that?

If there's no minimum requirement, I will give it a try. I signed up and the message is also sent.
Thank you in advance.
16465  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How much bitcoins can you collect from faucets per day? on: October 16, 2014, 08:40:08 AM

Faucets are a waste of time. I used them when I started with BTC and was happy about the 10k satoshi from faucets that paid the fees for other inputs I spend. But I never got big amounts via faucets. And actually its not even a good idea. See this [1] post. Someone got ~0.2 BTC from faucets, which sounds nice at first, but the thing with BTC is that you pay fees depending on the size of the Transaction (TX) the more inputs (coins someone send you) you use, the more space your TX needs and the higher the fees are. Faucets usually give you very little amounts per TX and will make it hard to spend those coins. You can try to fuse them with transactions without fees, but that might not work out. In the end you wasted a lot of time for very little and have some nasty problems on top of it.
If you spend the same time one a regular job (almost any job will pay better) you could not make 1 BTC in 7 days (assuming you have no special skills or education). On the other hand if you work 2-3 hours a day you will earn way more than you can via faucets.

tl;dr Faucets might seem like a nice way to earn something at first, but once you understand how a transaction works you understand that faucets are bad.

Woah! Thank you very much for this info. I just disabled the auto-withdraw from the faucet I used to use. I guess that I will withdraw much-much less often than once per week (and eventually stop using it).
Thanks again. Very useful info I somehow missed.
16466  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How much bitcoins can you collect from faucets per day? on: October 16, 2014, 08:30:19 AM
You are super optimistic imho, with your 1BTC/week question.

I use mostly http://freebitco.in/?r=779433 (or without ref http://freebitco.in) and I get some 20-30k sat / week.

I agree that if I'd do this continuously and with all faucets (for all coins!) I could maybe get much more. Maybe 0.01BTC / week?

Signature campaigns are the way to go if you are a poor bitcoiner like me Smiley
16467  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 5000 satoshis for free! Easy! on: October 16, 2014, 08:18:23 AM
How much is 5000 satohis? I think it is not worth the time + spam emails.

Want to add that you'll need to provide phone number to withdraw coins and I think that 5k satoshi is less than the usual min transation in the network so you may not be able to actually withdraw?
All this for 2 cents Smiley
16468  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Win free Bitcoins playing the 2048 Game on bitcoin2048.com on: October 16, 2014, 08:09:26 AM
I really enjoy playing 2048. But this is not a beta, this is more like a scam.

Meaning, really, I understand that a beta can have bugs. But as long as you advertise your site as something that pays you while playing and that's exactly the part that's not working... you can even claim it's alpha release and I will still label it as scam.

So my advice is that the ones who want to also earn coins from this, don't waste your time.

And when does this end? After 53 posts? Smiley
16470  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FREE BITCOIN Sites on: October 15, 2014, 07:00:13 PM
I found the following site that says it gives away free bitcoins just to be a member and it looks like an mlm.  Does anyone know anything about them?

https://qoinpro.com/

Yep, unless you referred half of the population on Earth, you'll get very old until you'll be able to withdraw anything.
The balances grow very very very very slow.
16471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore CryptoNote Windows CPU Miner v3.4 on: October 15, 2014, 10:38:06 AM
I gave a try to the new version and, on i7 920 it's still slower than my super-old cpuminer-multi 1.0.3.

Is that normal? Am I missing anything? If I would get (for myself) at least the same hash rate as the old miner, I would use yours, at least for the failsafe options...
what about this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647251.msg7977109#msg7977109 maybe it helps you. I was not able to make it work, but it is my problem.

I did some more tests and ... still bad.
If I use 4 threads I get low hash rate, if I use 8 threads I don't have enough memory and go into slow mode.

Mintpal is not the only exchanger.

Obviously. Polo, HitBtc, bittrex... XMR has a lot of good places to be traded.

And I think that the 0.002 price was somebody's mistake. Somebody that will check his trades later and will cry.
16473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMG] Coin Magi swap discussion thread on: October 15, 2014, 09:49:25 AM
I don't have old magi coins, so I will not tell how to do the swap. But as somebody with new XMG and as somebody that wants a bright future for this, I'd say to hurry a little bit more with this swapping.

I think that this swap "issue" gives some uncertainty on the value of XMG and may prevent investors to join in.
That an the lack of big/known exchanges.

www.mintpal.com:

"MintPal is currently down for urgent bug fixes, and is additionally moving to new management (away from Moopay LTD). A statement will follow shortly."

That's because of Moolah' bankrupcy. http://blog.moolah.io/2014/10/14/moolah-is-having-to-close-its-doors/

You should improve the way to get to the next ticket, if you really want to get some pennies from it and increase the prizes.
It took me 10 seconds to figure out how to get new ticket without going through the annoying AdFly Wink

However, it's an interesting concept Smiley

well..the problem is we have to monetize somehow to get cash for prizes

if traffic will grow more revenue will enable higher prizes... game is still young

I nderstand that. My point was that you'll have to find a way to make it much harder to avoid AdFly.

16478  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: graphic problem on: October 14, 2014, 04:07:03 PM
When I started mining BTC I used GUIMiner. (There are other miners too, I found more info here: http://thebitcoinmine.com/windowsguides/windowsnvidia.html Maybe you spend more time and find better threads on bitcointalk.org - with the ones that make the mining program and can help with what's wrong.)

In GUIMiner window, if you cannot select your graphics card, that usually means that you don't have the required drivers.

You may find out that GPU-mining BTC is quite difficult. If you want to mine altcoins instead, you will find here good software and people that know all about NVidia cards: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0

It was 5gb last time when I updated my wallet. Time to update and move some coins Wink

I'd suggest to use MultiDoge. Then you will not care what's the size of blockchain.
