1661  Economy / Economics / Re: Easy question? How to measure the real Value of the BitCoins? on: June 29, 2011, 02:07:18 PM
The more bitcoin is exchanged for real goods and services, the more valuable it becomes?

Makes sense. Now we wait and see if it happens.

Bitcoin is bigger than Jesus!

It's okay, you can say that on this forum.

Bitcoin is an illusion.

1665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin will be bigger than The Bible on: June 28, 2011, 09:46:14 PM

And truly this world is so remarkable, that one should really think someone must have invented this Wink But I believe in randomness (I solo mine also harhar). With that many stars and galaxies out there, it had to happen. We are the lotto jackpot times a million.

.........give it time and randomness and it will strengthen the system.

In reference to the universe:

You say, *it had to happen* (meaning the odds were there all along) but literally the next thing you say is, *we hit the jackpot* (meaning we got lucky).

Don't be double-minded. You don't win the lotto and say *i was bound to win it, the odds were there*.

The odds against the universe existing as it does, and earth to evolve into a planet with all the conditions necessary to support life, are well beyond "hitting the jackpot". The odds have been worked out: its like hitting the jackpot - *EVERY* day - 100 days in a row.

The odds against are well beyond the scientific standard for ridiculous (10 to the 50th power). The number is so gigantic, it is bigger than the number of seconds in 5 billion years, the supposed life of the our universe. 5 billion years = 1.5778463 × 10^17 seconds. It doesn't matter how much time and randomness you throw into the mix. It can't happen. PERIOD.

Randomness is the total absence of information. Randomness by definition leads only to chaos.

If probability and randomness did not function in a predictable manner, Bitcoin would fall apart. It depends on the laws of the universe to function.

1667  Economy / Gambling / Re: Texas Hold'em Poker Room - NL, Limit, Potlimit tables available. on: June 28, 2011, 07:32:55 PM
I wrote an email suggesting  Sit N Go tourneys. Just wanted to be annoying cause I'm drunk sorry. Enjoying the site very much btw.

SNG will be hard to pull off since getting 10 players to play the same limit is tough enough.

You're thinking backwards.

SNG are very popular. I don't play there now because SNG are not offered. Its my favorite format.

SNG does not have to be 10-max. 6-max and 2-player are just as popular.

1669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Retail Over the Counter Trading illegal in the free USA from 15 July 2011 on: June 28, 2011, 02:25:36 PM
The financial collapse and ensuing recession from 2007-2009 can be blamed mostly due to deregulated markets being opened up in 2000 for the first time with the CFMA - fine libertarian incompetence at work!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodity_Futures_Modernization_Act_of_2000

I'm glad to see that the government is starting to get tough on all of this wild forex garbage.
Please explain how this CFMA caused this recession and while you're at it, explain how you think outlawing "wild forex garbage" will help.

Yeah pretty ironic, considering the government has been very busy deregulating the markets for big players. Example: the derivatives market, which Alan Greenspan recommended needed no regulation.

The US housing market crash was made much worse by deregulation.

1670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin will be bigger than The Bible on: June 28, 2011, 02:06:35 AM
So if Bitcoin beats the bible I think the ranking would be something like this.

1. Music
2. Spork
3. L shapped tetris piece
4. Bitcoin
5. Bible
6. Fork
7. Onion rings
8. Movies
9. Spoon
10. Virtual Boy

Right?

No, no.

Sliced bread always takes #1 spot.
1671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin will be bigger than The Bible on: June 28, 2011, 01:59:55 AM
Wow. Bi-polar much?

Last week you were all pissing and moaning how bitcoins were going to zero due to the MTGOX fiasco.

Now its "bigger than the bible"?

Kind a ironic, since the bible tells you bitcoins are good. What took you so long???

Proverbs 25:28
He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a broken down city without a wall. (Anti-FED, anti-bankster)

Proverbs 13:11
Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it. (Bitcoin Mining  ;^)  )

Ecclesiastes 11:2
Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth. (Diversify)

Exodus 22:25
If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest. (interest free bitcoin loans).

Matthew 5:42
Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. (Lending means growth)

Proverbs 15:22
Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed. (Open-source effort)

Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication; and let them say continually, “The Lord be magnified, who delights in the prosperity of His servant.” (God wants people to prosper)

1 Cor 16:2
“On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.” (Don't sell all your bitcoins)

Proverbs 22:29
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (Bitcoin, the work of skilled men, is standing up well against the US dollar.)

What does Harry Potter have to say about Bitcoin or finance? Huh? Just sayin.
1672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: America is about to hit the toilet and probably with most of the world. on: June 28, 2011, 12:51:32 AM
48 percent of Americans say another great depression is likely? Hmmm... 48 percent of Americans also don't believe in evolution... Jus sayin'

Scientific American - April 20011 - Quantum Gaps in the Big Bang Theory - Why our best explanation of how the universe evolved must be fixed - or replaced.

Scientists are in full retreat mode on the theory of our origins. Its nice to hear them admit they were wrong.

Now, what were you saying about Americans?

Please add NLHE single table tournaments  (STT).
heads-up, 6-max, and 9-max.

Your competitor does not have them yet.  Wink
1674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2.7 million stolen in Citi hack on: June 27, 2011, 04:27:34 PM

Do you think we'll see a concentration of bitcoin wealth in the hands of hackers?

Darwinian analysis. As theft grows more widespread, at some point the average BTC is held not by an early adopter, but by a hacker who stole it from a late adopter.  What does this mean?  That BTC contracts are not between idealists, but thieves, making you much more likely to be ripped off if doing business in BTC than dollars because, as we all know, "there is no honor among thieves".

In the days of yesteryear, pirates (skilled navigators and seaman) roamed the ocean shipping lanes (a new frontier) and accosted any ships they came across and stole goods while in transit.

Piracy on the high seas is still a problem today. Estimates are 13 billion dollars in losses due to piracy worldwide.

Are the bitcoin "piracy" wars just beginning?

1676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Down to zero it goes! on: June 26, 2011, 06:22:25 AM

they could have simply asked their grandparents, as a similar phenomenon described the previous ninety years. inflation in the united states is generally recognised to have been greater from 1913 to 1999, but not by as much as the often-disputed '90%' figure would have you believe. (probably it was about twice as great in the 20th century as the 19th century, though i'm saying that offhand without looking at the best data.

Thanks for helping my case.  Wink

more to the point, very few people held dollars outside of interest-bearing accounts.

Nearly everyone's good fortunes rest on the stability of the US dollar, today. That's the point.

1677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Down to zero it goes! on: June 26, 2011, 03:46:26 AM
nobody received a dollar in 1913 and expected it to have the same purchasing power in 1999.

The expectation of the day was CERTAINLY NOT that the dollars they were accepting in 1913 would be lose more than 90% of their value in less than 90 years.

1680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever read a mainstream news articles that got Bitcoins right? on: June 24, 2011, 04:26:28 PM
me neither.

It doesn't matter. The publicity alone is more valuable to Bitcoin's long-term success than "getting it right."
