I'll quote this (again): If they complain about amounts, tell them to complain to me. It's best if sources try to exhaust their source allocations, even if it means giving posts higher amounts than is typical. If you have 150 source merit and you only see 3 merit-worthy posts in a month, then I'd rather you over-give each of them 50 merit than let the merit expire. That way there are more people capable of sending merit, and the "merit economy" is less top-down. I don't really agree though, and wouldn't just dump 50 Merit per post, so I'll leave it up to the reader how to interpret this. After my last source increase (in January), I still managed to empty it by sending 1 Merit per post most of the time. My stats last Friday: 5. 6932 Merit sent by LoyceV (#459836) to 1362 unique users in 4744 transactions But I couldn't keep up that way so my new system was to give more per post once remaining source amount reached 5-10% of the maximum. Note that once your source amount is adjusted, you receive the total amount instantly. That means no refills for the coming 30 days. My advice to Merit sources: spend it evenly the coming 30 days, and aim to empty your source around the last day (December 13), so that it comes back evenly after that. That prevents this repeating pattern of running out of source Merits: I can see from your (micgoossens') sMerit distribution that for months in a row you're out of sMerit before the end of the month: After this first month, you can keep your source as close to zero as possible all the time to maximize the amount you can send.

Worse yet I won't learn what my merit source size is since it just was adjusted. When your source is adjusted, it gets reset to the full amount. So whatever you have now is your total monthly source amount. That also means anything you use now won't be replenished for 30 days, so it's wise to "evenly spread out" your source in the coming days. After that, you'll receive regular replenishments.

I'm torn about this. If I start sending 7 a pop then I'm gonna have to make it 12 when the next "automatic" adjustment happens. Should I not send as much? There's this: If they complain about amounts, tell them to complain to me. Theymos wants you to empty your source, and if you can't (LOL) find like 2000 good posts per month, you're going to have to send more per post ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)
If the inactive sources were removed, and the active sources received an increase, that means we can expect an increase in sent Merit from now on. I think that's a good thing, and thanks theymos for listening to iasenko ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Looks like there are less merit sources and generated sMerit now The forum doesn't need inactive sources.

Did everybody get a PM from theymos today? I assume all Merit sources received the PM. Merit sources: There are 90 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 18821 sMerit per 30 days I won't disclose the PM, but I can say I now have to double the amount I send per post: As for myself: I don't feel like I need a larger source amount, but I wouldn't mind having to give more either. I try to keep my source amount as close to zero as possible, and I still have quite a decent amount of "my own" sMerits left. But it's less than 10% of the amount of sMerit I've sent in total. If my source would double, that would effectively mean I'll have to double the amount I send per post. If that's something theymos is interested in considering the posts I've Merited, I'd welcome an increase.

Why is it more likely that a person who has 100 more posts etc , will have the capability to repay the loan. It's not that such a person is more likely to be able to repay, it's because that person has more to lose if he doesn't repay. And of course there's the fact that many people have been scammed with loans in the past.

@Royse777: Can you add an "r" to the title? It took me this long to notice " Feedom".

I have a question if I hand-drawn a picture from one original image online should I be liable to credit the source of it as well even though I've already added some tweaks over the original image? When in doubt: add credits ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

@Lauda I hereby challenge you to a 0.25BTC bet that you will not get a flag supported against me for advocating freedom of speech.. @ 1 week after your flag creation, so it has time to settle in ya know.. Let everyone get some time to support or oppose.. ![Popcorn loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia1.tenor.com%2Fimages%2Fe571161d930a0401b05c74f7305cbcd6%2Ftenor.gif&t=663&c=q2Wpy2GPTuYncQ) I'm keeping an eye on IsLaudaStillOnDT.tk if this Flag happens.

Composition which got over 70 merit This one also received 50 Merit from theymos. I guess theymos isn't used to check/hunt for plagiarism. Isn't this a bannable offense, because unlike Laskoo, xolxol doesn't show any original source at all. Judging by the Merit amounts, theymos is really looking for "original artwork", but those 2 examples clearly aren't original.

Wow, just wow! I thought I knew all hidden features by now, but this is very welcome. I'm in on this: theymos, please add this! I said please!

It's still funny and fits the contest. How does it fit the contest?? It includes Bitcointalk usernames in a fun way. But I don't think this low-effort deserves that much Merit. Post original bitcointalk.org art in this thread along with a Bitcoin address. Any art you post must be created by you. I feel like this should be considered true plagiarism. It's crazy it received so much merit, only if the guy drew these images himself should it deserve that much merit. Adding his own username to an image he took from someone else is indeed very bad. I'm not sure if the Credits-link is enough to stop it from being plagiarism. I must admit I didn't read the Credits-link when I merited the post (with 2 Merit). That's on me though.

When I have a little time, I'll see to prepare a little script to automate the whole process.
Which web server do you use on your machine ? Let's continue this discussion in [project] api.loyce.club: crowdsourcing Bitcointalk data, it fits better there. Hmm. Oh, it worked! Was getting image proxy error on 2 of them a minute ago.
It takes some time to update (I wait 8 seconds between scraping profiles). To speed things up when the list gets longer, I've updated it to scrape new userIDs first. Test: Result: ![Trust score loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Floyce.club%2Ftrust%2Fimages%2F35.gif&t=663&c=yGRafavBsNYU8w)

I'll take the discussion from another topic here: I like the idea ! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) But like to automate things, I think it would not be very complicated to automate the process with a bit of PHP code for example ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) If it interests you, I would be ready to help you for that ! Oh, okay, You are self-hosting maybe ? If so which OS ( Raspberry, Other ? ) ? The data is created on my old netbook, then uploaded to my shared hosting: Apache Version 2.4.41 PHP Version 7.2.23 MySQL Version 5.7.28-cll-lve Architecture x86_64 Operating System linux Let's continue in this topic ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I thought only the reputation mattered but today I learned, skin color does! via Imgflip Meme GeneratorSo Darkstar is White? WhiteStar_ doesn't sound nearly as good.

One member, which received more than 100 merit in the art contest topic, wrote that he took the "base image" from another website, but at the same time his nickname is specified on the picture. I suppose, this can make a confusion that this user painted most of the image. I wouldn't know if this is "common" to do on artwork or not, but it is indeed confusing. Note that he originally posted it without Credits, and edited his post 2 days later. I can't know for sure when during those 2 days the Credits were added. It's still funny and fits the contest.

He is a scammer. You will never ever get that ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Obviously ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) But I don't tag accounts without conclusive or at least very convincing evidence, and if someone is dumb enough to trust a random Newbie with 5 BTC, they're on their own.

Freedom of speech is worth a very high cost.. Untold thousands have paid with their lives trying to ensure its continuity.. Bitcoin is at the heart of freedom of speech.. It is its purpose.. Well said! Or as a famous quote goes: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (I had to search for the source: Evelyn Beatrice Hall). Luckily, I also have the "Freedom to click the Ignore button", which nicely balances it out. And I really don't mind the occasional troll that much. By being consequent on the ignore button, I barely see their crap, it's only on a few boards, and it's a small amount compared to the useful posts on this forum. So let them be, ignore them, and stop feeding the creatures! People don't have the right to not be offended I dare go a step further, and I don't remember who said it before I did, but: "Being offended is a choice!". Google brings me to the Chicago Tribune, but it's literally tells me it's unavailable in Europe.I don't think I've ever been offended by anything on this forum. If you're offended by someone on the internet, you give them far too much credit! To quote myself: If someone on the internet is mean to you: boo fucking hoo! Use the Ignore button, and forget about them.

Is anyone interested in "sharing" the creation of my art idea? Here it is: I would like to make Interactive Art, but I'm not an artist so there's no way I can make this look good. It would work like this: with a poll in a new thread (or positive/negative feedback left on a few dummy-accounts), Bitcointalk users can vote. The resulting vote will be used to update the artwork (every few minutes). Votes could for instance be for "Bitcoin", "dollar" or "euro", after which a pile of coins or banknotes grows (like bar graphs) on top of a nice background image to show which one is most popular. Making it interactive would be a nice touch that no other artwork has yet, but like I said: I lack skills ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) I can make the scraping and automated image editing if I partner with someone who can create the "base" images. Thoughts? Ideas? Interested? Good? Bad? Please do tell ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Please sign a message saying "Hi Loyce, this is AlfredTheBest, today is November 13, 2019, and I own at least 5 BTC" from an address that holds at least 5 BTC. This will add a significant credibility to your claim.
If you fail to do so (which until now every single person who I've asked to do this failed!), I assume you're a scammer like the rest. If you want to keep your address private, feel free to PM me the signed message, after which I'll update my post here without revealing the address. Note: being able to sign a message doesn't mean you're not a scammer, but refusing the sign makes it very likely you are a scammer.
