we are always calm Smiley especially if you keep the coins that were worth 100-200$ back in the days
the ones that bought for over 15.000$ should worry, haha
in any case I do not expect the price to fall below 6.000$ this year
hopefully we will see some growth, but I'm not overly optimistic for this year
a steady price and gradual growth is better than bubbly behaviour

People should really be using a decent password manager that creates random strong passwords.
Different ones for every site you use. Also, don't just blindly trust 2FA, because there are definitely ways around that (depending on what kind of 2FA the website uses)

I can definitely recommend Keepass, which is an awesome open-source password manager.
https://keepass.info/

2FA with a mobile phone number is insecure and you don't know what they use your phone number for.
Just look at what Facebook did with phone numbers it collected for their 2FA, sold them to advertisers... (source)

This article is pretty interesting, it lists all the pros and cons of different 2FA methods:
https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/pros-cons-2fa-types-methods/

Strong password and 2FA of course needed to make your account secure. But to think that by putting 2FA will make your account insecure, how this thing is possible? Many people already know 2FA and have beend used it for so long and it never has any issue with it and by using keepass it will only give us and extra security towards our account so it is depends on players as well whether they are going to use it or not since not everyone are familiar with coding thing
I never had the experience to use keepass but according to google keepass is "an opensource password manager which can help you to manage all of your passwords" it means that you can use keepass as your database of all of your password so if you haven't memorized the passcode you can use this to keep your password safe but I don't think we still need this because you can make your own password database in your own spreadsheet.
Using any 3rd party software your account can be compromised so I suggest to better memorize the password and use google 2fa is enough to keep your account safe.

literally every piece of equipment can be compromised
keepass is a nice little tool to keep your passwords, also lastpass falls into this category
it is way better than storing your passwords on a piece of paper or, god forbid, in a text file
spreadsheet passwords sounds like a joke, you think that Google documents are safer than keepass?
in any case , 2fa is a must for sites you store money at , gambling sites or exchanges or wallets
otherwise using a password manager is fine in most cases, try it - you will like it Smiley
1684  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Holding unregulated crypto asset may attract punishment in India on: October 26, 2018, 11:14:45 AM
The most interesting aspect of these discussions is that we westerners think we know everything (because everything we read is true, duhh) while I never see anyone from India or China actually explain the situation.

It may be that it's heavily being discussed in their native language on this forum, but it would be a welcome change for once to have some valuable input on these subjects from people who actually live there.

The OP is apparently from India and was asking for our opinions...

I doubt there's much to explain as the law hasn't been amended and there are few official statements in the media. The government is apparently waiting for an RBI report on digital currencies to be released before doing anything.

Correct! I am indeed from India and really worried about the future of cryptos in my country. Even though nothing has been officially announced but the government doesn't seems to be positive towards cryptos. While a court case is ongoing, SEBI and RBI (Regulators of stock market and Banking system) was asked to produce their view on cryptos by the court. The government is awaiting those responses from these regulators and in the meantime, asked the Law Commission to prepare a draft which can be produced later on.

The things can take positive direction, but the chance for negative direction is much more prominent!

negative approach is more than likely
especially seeing the news like this: https://cointelegraph.com/news/police-arrest-indian-crypto-exchange-co-founder-for-unregistered-illegal-bitcoin-atm
they arrested him for setting up a "not licenced bitcoin ATM" , speaks volumes about how crypto friendly the government is at the moment
although they can always make an u-turn , it is not decided just yet
I heard rumours  that some states are researching blockchain based methods of payments and even eyeing their own crypto currencies
1685  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbook Without a License on: October 26, 2018, 11:03:26 AM
I heard that most big and established betting sites/companies started without licenses. They were able to grow and become licensed and now controls the industry. I know one or two by name.

However, license has become almost a must these days if you're ever gonna be taken seriously in your sportsbook business.

Most software providers won't even think of releasing their software to you without a license.

Payment processors are simply a no-go area without a license.

Is it still possible to start and run a Gambling site without a License?

Now, talking in users perspectives-

Can a Sportsbook still be considered legitimate and okay without a license?

Do you know any operating (with consistent payout and good customer cares) without a license?

Can you bet with a betting site that has no license, maybe because they're starting new and currently has no money for licensing fee?

Thanks in advance for your opinions

it is not only possible to not have a license and run a gambling website, but many relatively popular sites
have been doing it for years without any problem, even the giants like Primedice or Bitsler only got licensed after some period of time
with provably fair gaming it is NOT 100% necessary to have a license, especially with a dice site or a small casino, blockchain based, for example
sportsbooks is a completely different story, usually they require a license to operate, but it depends on the laws of the countries
some sites have casino+sportsbook , like betking, for example, other big players like bitdice are planning to introduce one soon
so it really is up to you to look for some random Curacao license or not, don't think this licensing body will help you in any ways if you have a dispute with a casino
but it is just my IMHO

I think the licensing bodies are just there to get their own fair share of the spoil  Grin Grin Grin

well partially true, they take some good money for their licenses, for example:
https://fastoffshore.com/what-we-do/packaged-services/online-gambling-license-in-curacao/ - "The Curaçao Online E-Gaming Businessbenefits, Package is available for an initial set up cost of only US $19,850"
https://www.curacaowebhosting.com/2017/05/23/cost-gambling-license-curacao/

but they do provide benefits like lower taxes, regulating bodies
and as a player ,at least you know who to contact if any dispute arises
These are the advantage if you do stick out on gambling sites that are licensed which you are somehow secured if there are any issues yet same as said you do know who to contact
but most popular gambling sites or sportsbook nowadays doesn't really even have the licensed and same as said above. It doesn't really matter because reputation would already be enough to convince me to play or make bets.

indeed, before sending money to a site I check many things, read about it
and license is , probably , one of the last things to influence my decision
but again, most of the trusted sites have a Curacao license and I only bet at 100% provably fair sites
1686  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dice-Bet.com 🎲 0.7% House Edge | BTC, LTC, ETH | Play or Invest 🎲 on: October 25, 2018, 03:48:44 PM
Just visited Dice-Bet after not being there for a while. Although it is shown there are 9 people online, actually no new bets were made for more than 10 minutes. Also there's no activity in the chat. What do you guys need, from my point of view, is either faucet or constant giveaways in the chat or both. Otherwise, like you can see, the chances of your site becoming popular are slim. I think even 20 sats faucet is much better than nothing. Try it. What can you lose? Set the Minimum Withdrawal Amount to 0.002 BTC, limit the faucet claim to 10 per day by a user, and you will make it almost impossible for someone to reach the min withdrawal amount starting from the faucet. Also, if nevertheless someone succeeded in that you could make a good promo from the fact.
Just my two cents. Do as you will, of course.

But they are doing ltc wagering competition right? And I thought that it is a monthly competition so people will slowly getting something up right here. And btw they are a new site which huge bankroll as I can see here, you should really give them some time to promote their sites. They have everything good from the game, design and may be support team but lack of marketing program and support that managing the thread as well. This should be considered as well, hope they get a good team to help them

They are running 3 wagering competitions (btc, eth and ltc) but the prizes are depending on the wagered amount by players up to 1btc prize. As I posted previously that to win 1btc from the competition, player must wager 500btc. Otherwise top 5 players will only get 0.1% up to 0.2% from what they have wagered.
Obviously they need a better promotion than the current running competition, indeed their wagering competition is unique as it is not similar to other sites but I think they should make promos which all players (low and high bankroll) has the same chance to win the prize.

I never know that they are having others competition too besides ltc because I saw many people are wagering for ltc instead of others coin. And when I know this competition end, I busted too. If I knew this earlier I might take some part on the competition as well. Yes they are making a unique competition but as I been there for some time, I saw there are only fews online and not all that players are doing the wager as well. Sometimes I am the one who betting there, saw my name on all bets tab. They really need to do something to increase their traffic

It is only 1 month old and they have had about $750k worth of bets made (nearly 6 million rolls), so it has been a very good start, with no big problems from what I have seen. So they may not be getting a lot of players (all the faucet leeches) but there are real players.

In saying that a signature campaign and more marketing would help. I see small site upgrades every week but marketing is always worth it!
i second that, after the first wagering comp a take on advertising would be a good idea
dont know about the signature campaign, but somr advertising on some ads networks would be good

yes, the site had a very good start because admin did most of the things right (surprisingly )
he listens to the community and is very fast on fixing things, also takes time to study competition from what I've seen  Wink
advertising and promotions are very important, but you have to consider the budget of a site ,sometimes spending too much
on ads can be not the best way to go  for a fresh dice site
but I'm sure admin has surprises in store and more competitions and promotions are coming our way

There's a mistake on editing images or any deal like that? seems legit for 1.5x Payout get a double from wager Cheesy.

Yes you are right it is a mistake from our Editors.

Here's the real Bet information (Profit 1 BTC ofc, bet still valid):

I look at your High rollers and its rare these days to get someone to gamble >1 BTC. I remember back in 2015 or so there were tons of whales and they only gambled with multiple BTC. These days its only the alts that get bets taken with a whole number or greater.

Most people don't remember this but there was some crazy high roller guy who had an offensive nickname "f*ckit" and this was on Just Dice. I remember that he was betting something like 7000 BTC at some high odd like 98% or so and he took a roll and it was a loss.

This was probably sometime in 2013 or so. And it made news pretty much not only on Bitcointalk but pretty much on Reddit and many of the news sites.

What is funny is how he just says something like "oh well" and moves on with his life. Seems like no emotion at all. And these days when you are on the trollbox and someone goes bust by martingale complains about "Bitcoin and dice being a scam and everything".

Lots has changed in the last 5 years.

Congrats to the lucky winner Smiley

Now players complain even when they lose faucet. Something given by site for free.

people complain about everything and anything, it is their nature
when they get things for free and build up something, they think it is because they are gambling geniuses
and smart and overall amazing, but once they start losing- it is rigged and unfair and they start to find patterns in their losses
as for no more 1+ btc bets on high rollers, it is much more rare, of course
back in 2014-2016 it was very common to tip 50.000-100.000 satoshis to random chatters, people would deposit several coins and lose them (or win)
and go like: meh, it is only 500$ or so, nowadays gamblers do not have as many bitcoins to burn , plus it is much easier to gamble in altcoins that took a fair share of the market

Partnership Could See up to 100,000 Regular ATMs in U.S. Turned into Bitcoin-Vending Machines
A deal between a traditional ATM manufacturer and a cryptocurrency vending machine firm will make it possible to buy bitcoin at tens of thousands of locations in the United States using a debit card.

interesting, this could be huge for bitcoin
wonder how do they plan to achieve this from the technical standpoint
ATM where you can both buy bitcoins and easily cash out bitcoins without the need to use third party processors
like Bitpay or similar sounds like a dream come true for americans
and for adoption worldwide as well , since if the experiment goes well (as it should) many more countries would want to do the same

1694  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Holding unregulated crypto asset may attract punishment in India on: October 21, 2018, 01:11:48 PM
This step is not very practical and there are millions of crypto users in India. Are they going to jail all of them? If the government goes ahead with something like this, then they will face a lot of outcry from the public as well.

It wasn't very practical to demonetise high denomination notes thus boning a large amount of the population up the chocolate whizzway. They did it anyway. Since they didn't flinch at the idea of doing that I see no reason why they wouldn't do this too.

Banning crypto is not like banning old banknotes. It is much more complex. First of all, you can't exchange Indian banknotes without the permission of the government as it is the central bank that issues them. So if you hold on to your banknotes after a certain date, they will become worthless. The case with crypto is different. It will not become worthless if the Indian government bans it.

crypto won't become worthless, but the government can introduce huge fines for individuals
and exchanges in India won't process any transactions , also their banks will not allow conversions
so it is pretty much possible to make life very difficult for cryptousers in India
but once again, this has been dragging for at least a year, there is no definite decision on the cryptocurrencies
the hearing has been postponed, the government is sitting on the fence as to  ban it, regulate it or introduce its own cryptocurrency

have you thought about including bitcoin ads sites, they do generate good affiliate if promoted correctly

people always think of malefic plans to steal money from other people, satoshi Nakamoto created bitcoin to help people, but the scammers are messing up the bitcoin image. then we will hear governments and banks say: "bitcoin is used for crimes"; "bitcoin is dangerous, be very careful".

Quote
A new deadly virus known as Dharma is seriously infecting computers ...

I think "deadly" might be a slight exaggeration.

this word scares people, I do not know what their purpose is to use that word

Dharma virus is not new...

But this time the scammers are asking for bitcoin

this virus is as old as a piece of mammoths feces, a "good" old file encrypting virus
as for the deadly , its just one of the clickbait adjectives journalists use (terrifed, happier, deadly, embarassing, costly mistake etc.)
there is nothing deadly in Dharma at most you will get your partition encrypted
also as with almost every ransomware it is simply unreasonable to send any money to the extorter since the files are not going to be decrypted back, they will just  take your money
if you fell a victim to this virus, do not go to some random shady pornsites, pay for a pornhub subscription (kidding)
use free Kaspersky,SVG or Dr.Web utilities - in most cases you will have your data back for example: https://www.avg.com/en-us/ransomware-decryption-tools

Google is not oblivious to the effect bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have
they have one of the best team of analysts money can buy, so it is not negligence or blissful ignorance on their part
it was made for purpose and knowingly , meaning that Google and all the forces behind it not only sceptical about crypto
but it is in their interest to not to allow faster adoption of bitcoins for some reason (take their crypto ads ban, for example)
