1681  Economy / Reputation / Re: 20000 posts on: May 23, 2023, 03:44:19 PM
Congratulations LFC_Bitcoin. Let us continue to enjoy this forum.

Your boy LFC_Bitcoin hits 20,000 posts here on bitcointalk. 20,000 posts and 7146 Earned Merit, maybe I need to go outside a bit more Grin Cheesy
8146 merits, not 7146 merits. Maybe you did not calculate the 1000 merits given at the start of merit system, but you deserved it and earned it too as you were legendary already when you were given.

This forum is one of the very best places to learn about bitcoin. I’ve picked up so much knowledge here in 10 years. I’ve learnt things that are not readily available elsewhere so let me raise a glass to everybody, Legendary Members and Noobs.
This forum has been much more for me because this forum thought me how to know scam, which was not like that before. I have known a lot about life which is helpful since when I joined this forum.
1682  Other / Meta / Re: OgNasty wrote a beauty! on: May 23, 2023, 03:31:54 PM
If you lost access to your password and email and not able to login into you bitcointalk account, only what you have to do is to sign a message with your bitcoin address that have been known for long on this forum.   Grin

If you forgot your password, you can reset it through email
If you forget your email, you can sign a bitcoin message with your known address on this forum

If you do not like that, you can leave this forum to a forum that can use signing message with bitcoin or altcoins address to access your account.

Signing message is to prove you are the owner of a bitcoin address.
1683  Other / Beginners & Help / Nunchuk wallet on: May 23, 2023, 12:15:05 PM
For those of you that point to Nunchuk to be a good bitcoin what, what do you think about this? Continue reading.

I can see that some people are saying that Nunchuk bitcoin wallet is good. I tried the wallet and it is very good. It has legacy, compatible, segwit and taproot addresses. It has many good things that a bitcoin wallet should have. But when I was checking Nunchuk official website, I saw that your seed phrase can be stored on a cloud.

WORRIED ABOUT BACKUPS?
We've got you covered! Wallet and key backups are automatically encrypted and securely stored in the cloud. With our assisted recovery feature, you can regain access to your wallet with a few simple steps.

Before that can be done, I think you have to register or maybe you will also pay. I do not care to know what is what about this.

I want to try their testnet, I was taken to registration page to register.

I have worked on the wallet, it is a good wallet but this about cloud backup make the wallet look very bad.
1684  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Labs just made "Taproot Assets" v0.2 a BRC20 alternative. on: May 23, 2023, 11:21:59 AM
I hope everyone here agrees with me that writing Ordinals/BRC20 in the blockchain using JSON is a massive space monster. (You might also believe that Ordinals are negative in their entirety and should be removed. Well there's another thread on this board for saying that.)
I can agree that some people may buy some of the tokens and lose, while some people may gain. Despite the negative aspects, there are tokens existing on other blockchains.

Bitcoin miners are profiting from transaction fee than ever before. It is a good thing that we are seeing ways that bitcoin mining reward can be replaced fully by transaction fee.

I read about this on cointelegraph or a one news before, but I do not know they will be fast to do this. Thanks that some developers are finding alternative ways, not that something good should be eradicated with censorship from developers.

I wish bitcoin will continue to be decentralized as it is now.
1685  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to buy - A look into the future of BTC !? on: May 23, 2023, 10:26:34 AM
Now? = Yes but only till XRP Lawsuit Peak is over
After XRP Lawsuit victory while skyrocketing in 2-6 Weeks = NO, dont buy Highs!
At the deepest point of the following depression when everybody thinks crypto dies..again... about oct-dec = YES
January 2024, halving year = NOW ore NEVER!

Again this is no financial advice, just my personal strategy
What does ripple has to do with this? Who cares about SEC lawsuit against ripple when there is nothing it has that can affect bitcoin.

My advice is that buying bitcoin now is good. Do not sell if the price is falling, just be happy that you will see double and double of the double of your money after many months.

This is why I advise the DCAing approach, and this should be done every 2-3 months for effectiveness.
What of buying every week? That is a good suggestion. If it is bitcoin, buying now is good, bitcoin can not go down much further. Even if bitcoin go down further, going back above $25000 is going to be what might happen. Buying bitcoin now is very good.

Laszello Honeys, posted on the BitcoinTalk forum that he wanted some pizza for which he would give 10,000 Bitcoins.
The name is Laszlo Hanyecz.

Incidentally, there has yet to be a public transaction in Bitcoin's history in which people have purchased anything in the real world.

I want you to know about its importance and significance.
People are using bitcoin for payments very well, but people are celebrating pizza day because the day was the first known bitcoin trade.

You want us the know the importance of bitcoin? Did you know that this forum was created by bitcoin founder, and that pizza trade conversation was on this forum.

Pizza for bitcoins?

1687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Confirmed That Government Can Get Access To Your Fund on: May 22, 2023, 07:55:48 AM
Because storing user sed phrases online is the same as exposing them to third parties and there will be a lot of hack attempts to gain acto those stored details.
Hack attempt may be useless, or the chance is low because the seed are encrypted, just like Shamir encryption. The seed encryption are in three, which would be enough to recover the seed phrase if the correct shared are used. The shared are given to two other companies and the first one with Ledger.

Although, hacking is possible, but the chance is low. The main problem now is the convenience that people can have that nobody knows their seed phrase. With Ledger, that convenience is no more there. People should stop using Ledger wallets.

The worst are the authorities. Ledger has used this opportunity for the government to have more control, but making their users to have no privacy like before.
1688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 22, 2023, 07:36:52 AM
I dont notice this as I am using adblocker on my PC
There are different types of ads.

there are the ones that are monetised by Google. But can add blockers on your phone or computer block that type of ads. I do not think so. They are not add when browser but when watching YouTube videos.

Another one is the ones that some YouTube content creators included into their videos, no ad blocker can edit a video or fast forward the part of the video that contains the ad.
1689  Other / Meta / Re: Totally made up story on the gambling section that I want to analyze. on: May 22, 2023, 07:18:13 AM
If you have something to prove (which is not about the forum, admin or moderators, related to the forum, which not like deletion of posts and something's like that), you can do the analysis or report on reputation board, that is one of the reasons the board was created.

It would have been better if you have made use of this thread to report it instead of asking questions. If it does not belongs to meta, it would be moved. There is nothing wrong for a thread to be moved to the appropriate board.

If you do not have enough evidence, do not report the topic because it wouldn't likely be a waste of time to report it. If you have a valid reason but not enough to proof anything, see it as a waste of time too.
1690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Apple ID Vulnerability Exposes CryptoWallets To Theft on: May 21, 2023, 03:08:13 PM
I mean, buying Apple ID is kinda stupid in the first place. It was designed to allow easy backup if I'm not wrong, so personal data (where wallets or other apps store their data) will definitely get exposed, which is why using a password to encrypt the data should be mandatory even if you don't buy it from random strangers. Btw, this is my first time hearing about people buying IDs to download an app instead of looking for an IPA or using other apps to save time and trouble. Didn't expect people to be that daring.
Information like seed phrase should not be stored online like on iCloud or Google Cloud. But without iCloud or Google Clouds, those OS manufacturers make many other vulnerabilities possible. Apple ID is a personal account that can access Apple Store, Online Stores related to Apple, iMassage and many other things including iCloud on your Apple devices. With this, it is saying that Apple ID is connected to Apple users apps and crypto wallet apps are included. I do not know Apple users can be easily hacked this way. We should know that any thing you are doing on Apple products is not safe as you have the Apple ID.
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Gambling Operator Court Case on: May 20, 2023, 05:38:23 PM
"He accuses the operator of failing to stop him"

Lol wut? The operator don't have a responsibility like that. If he did that, then the player would have told him to stfu. That loser needs to grow up and learn to face the consequences of his own actions. If he somehow wins that trial (which he is not gonna), then all the casinos would go bankrupt. Every other loser like him will sue the casino to get back their fairly and squarely lost money.
The gambler can not win in court because it is his money and it is gambling with it and what did he want an operator to do? What if he continued to gamble and win and win, he would embe expecting payment with happiness. The gambling operator do not do anything wrong.

But because gamblers are seeing the operator, there can (but not necessary) be something like advice for people that they think are losing too much, like telling them to better stop. Not by forcing them to stop but an advice.

What I know that happens in all gambling places that I have seen before are people that can stay there all day long everyday gambling, but most of them are playing with just small amount of money. But in general, I do not have the gambling operator to blame at all, people should discipline themselves.
1692  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I want to migrate from Trust Wallet to another wallet. on: May 19, 2023, 04:21:58 PM
2. They will remain staked, but you won't be able to see them.
I staked a coin on Atomic. I import the seed phrase on Trsutwallet, I saw the coin staked but I was not able to unstake the coin. I unstaked it on Atomic wallet.

I staked on Trustwallet, I did not see it on Atomic wallet at all.

I staked on Trustwallet, it gave me problem and I was unable to unstake it which has not happened to me before but once. I import the seed phrase on Keplr, I successfully unstake the coin on Keplr wallet easily.

Atomic wallet is your best choice if you want same feature and experience since it supports almost all coins with open source that is much better to trust wallet. It has a built-in staking feature so there’s no need to rely on 3rd party defi apps.
I do not like Atomic wallet because they are using their own validator. I prefer wallet that have several validators. If anyone want to stake coins like Atom, Osmosis, the best wallet is Keplr.

For staking Tron, I have not gone into details about it before.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: May 19, 2023, 12:05:50 PM
It all depends on the gambler involved in this kind of situation, making gambling as a source of income isn't bad at all as long as the gambler can always sought a means out for himself everytime
For people not to make gambling as a source of income is like a means of telling people how risky gambling is. I do tell people that they should not rely on gambling at all, that they should even be very careful about it. Not only gambling, but also trading. These two things are very risky, they can turn a rich person to a poor person in just few hours to days. People need to be careful.

Someone can decide to take just 5% of his weekly income to gamble weekly, that is not be. I do advice people not to use more than 5% of their weekly income to gamble weekly. But that do not stop me from saying that people should not make gambling as a source of income because I always think it is good for people to know that, which is actually the truth. Gambling should just be for fun and nothing else.
1694  Economy / Gambling / Re: What all are your considerations before picking your go to sportsbook? on: May 19, 2023, 11:51:05 AM
First, it must be popular and reputable enough, it's stupid if someone want to gamble on unknown site since the risk of getting scammed is high.
You post like you are new on this forum. I always say this too when I have not joined this forum, that people should only register on gambling site that is highly trustworthy and common to the public. But I joined this forum and notice that there are some new gambling sites on this forum which are also trustworthy as they want to grow. You are not wrong, but I am just talking about my experience on this forum.

Then the other criteria is high odds, interesting promotion, many choice of events and betting option, etc.
What I have noticed is that the odds on most casinos that I am using are very similar with just little differences, this makes me not to consider this anymore, but maybe it still matters to some people. I just like the welcoming offers and other promotional offers.
1695  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a web3 casino for you? on: May 19, 2023, 11:14:45 AM
I love the idea that in order for online casinos to be considered as web 3.0 gambling sites is its ability for decentralization. It straight to the point, and nothing more. That integration of cryptocurrency as payments, rewards, tokens are featured. In cased of security, it will greatly be depend upon the house website if they require every player or stakeholders to have a KYC. I love this post as it just gives simple and clear prompt.
But on non web3 casinos, I mean the centralized casinos, gamblers are making use of cryptocurrencies too to gamble. What makes web3 casinos to b different is because they are paid directly into their noncustodial wallet, unlike the deposit and withdraw on crypto centralized casinos. Also on web3 casinos, I have not seen one that requires KYC yet, but KYC can latter become the challenges of web3 casinos and exchanges and that will make them to be centralised in one way or the other.
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online casino always take risks? on: May 19, 2023, 11:03:13 AM
But not all new casinos can compete with other new or old casinos because gamblers will choose a casino based on what they are looking for. It might be easy to launch that new casino but difficult to sustain it, let alone grow it until it becomes big and reputable. And this can only be achieved by a casino with a team that works hard and wants to make their business big. And to develop the casino to become big, it is necessary to promote and some casinos hire influencers to help market their casino.
Any new casino can still survive and become big, but it requires money. Some casinos may have good developers, good website but not able to market and promote their casino, that is because the casino do not have enough money for it. Marketing is very important, it can help a casino to become big. Others things are excellent customer care, many and good option for deposit and withdrawal, and having many good promotional offers after being able to advertise to make people know about them.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't gamble if you don't have patience on: May 18, 2023, 10:44:41 AM
It's correct gamble need patience, but don't gamble if you don't have money is more accurate Grin
Saying someone should not gamble if the person do not have money, is not accurate, because what will the person use to gamble if he has nothing to use to gamble. People gamble with money or something valuable. But it is good to be patient while gambling, patience is very important to gamblers, and that we should use little amount of money that we can afford to lose to gamble.
1698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether to buy Bitcoin based on monthly net profits on: May 18, 2023, 10:29:51 AM
if usdt collapses maybe it will make the Bitcoin price will decrease just like when Luna/TUSD collapsed i saw Bitcoin prices slowly decrease from 39.6k$ to the lowest price 26.7k$ and until now it still recovering.
If bitcoin price decrease, those that thought bitcoin is too expensive would be encouraged to buy at that time, so it is not a disadvantage. And as we know, Do Kwon purchased $10 billion worth of bitcoin at the time, which is not a small amount of bitcoin.

People thought USDT would have collapsed since, but nothing happened till now. USDT is backed mostly by fiat and little by bitcoin, there is no problem as I see Tether Limited to be wise over their decision.
1699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether to buy Bitcoin based on monthly net profits on: May 17, 2023, 03:00:57 PM
Just like Microstrategy, tether is planing to be investing more on bitcoin.
Lol, I think tether is the one investing in bitcoin since the company's birth. They are the real OG.
This should not cause an argument, I did not say that tether is not investing in bitcoin. I am only indicating how they get more preference for bitcoin. That is why I compare tether to microstrategy. I also stated that they hold $1.5 bitcoin.

Quote
In an announcement on May 17, Tether revealed that it plans to invest a portion of its profits into BTC on a monthly basis. The firm said it will “regularly allocate up to 15% of its net realized operating profits towards purchasing Bitcoin.”

If they are thinking to increase their BTC reserves it's great but it is again alarming for us because it will lead to more volatility in the market if any fud occurs similar to the LUNA.
Honestly, this is what I'm thinking. Since Luna is also associated to Terra/USTC, I am having that feeling that this could also lead to the same thing as them but it could also be entirely different.
The problem with Luna was that he made UST to be an algorithmic stable coin. The way both stable coin works are different. What you can compare with USDT is USDC. See what happened to USDC recently as it depegged, but later increased back to normal price. Tether still have 85% of his asset as fiat. The second problem of Luna was the team behind the project and how Luna falled, not even bitcoin.
1700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tether to buy Bitcoin based on monthly net profits on: May 17, 2023, 02:04:02 PM
Just like Microstrategy, tether is planing to be investing more on bitcoin. But unlike Microstrategy, we do not know how bitcoin maximalist they are yet.

One thing to learn from is that they stated that they are putting their bitcoin holding into a self-custody wallet. As a person or organization, there is nothing better than to have your keys and your coins than to depend. This means a lot to me and to people that prefer self-custody.

Tether has $1.5 billion in bitcoin. That is 2% of their total reserves. 85% of their total reserves is in cash, cash equivalents and other short-term deposits, primarily treasure bills.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/tether-to-buy-bitcoin-based-on-monthly-net-profits

Bitcoin will be a coin that people and organizations will depend on. More organizations will see that bitcoin offers value more than fiat, but they need to understand why, when and how.
