@RoomBot

Please forgive me if this has been answered before but those BTC you mentioned earlier that have not been moved, are these wallets hosted at Coinbase or any other online company or are they regular desktop wallets? Has that been confirmed?

YW @JollyGood:

The awesome compilation by @suchmoon on the GAWMiners Scam thread actually expedited the SEC & FBI investigations against Josh Garza & cronies.
 Cheesy

I guess we'd need @ThrillHou to oblige us here....

Long story short:

Paul Vernon AKA Perv Vern was doing dubious practices at Craptsy Cryptsy for years & many of us saw the end coming.  He claims they got "hacked" for a huge sum of coins, but didn't tell anyone for a year! He got involved in the Paycoin scam. Things went downhill fast after that. Apparently he wiped the servers, dumped his wife & children, and fled to China, but most of the BTC has not been moved.

Nice one Roombot, thank you for the information. I was fairly up to date on it  except two things you mentioned:

1) Paycoin: I will look up the Paycoin scam to learn about what it was (sorry, not familiar with it though it was mentioned a couple of times recently).
2) "but most of the BTC has not been moved" - has anyone been able to understand why Paul Vernon has not moved it?

Thanks for the links too. I will probably contact them tomorrow evening and let you know the outcome when I hear back from them. My total investment at the time of the fraud where they blocked my access was very little but I still will chase this and see what happens. Cheers Smiley

Maybe we can ask @suchmoon to do a first-page wiki here, like he did with the GAWMiners / Josh Garza thread.  Everything is linked, documented & updated on the first page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857670.0

Thank you RoomBot. What a wonderful idea, thank you for the input. You provided a suggestion that is very constructive.

It is a pity that a couple of people here who have been posting since day dot think they are high and mighty over everyone else.

When users with less knowledge about the goings-on make posts here the user that think they are high and mighty mock them instead of helping and guiding them, or simply ignoring them allowing others to help instead.

Thank you

I posted 3 options off the top of my head.
Here is a fourth.. read the recent pages only.

We do get a never ending flow of lazy idiots who make 0 effort to do their homework.
The fact the topic is long is not much excuse.

It takes 2 seconds to Google it.
And staff advise you search this place with Google too.
Hell i even made a Mycroft search plugin LOL

But yeah you are right i can ignore you  Cheesy

I just wanted to point out 4 ways of getting info.
Because you responded to only ONE of them.
As though the other 3 were not presented at all.

Oh and the jab at you was that you have been contradicting yourself.

It's pretty simple really..
If you don't read then you don't know what happened.
And it too much to explain to each noob showing up *obviously.
Hence the 480 pages LOL

Point being is if you don't read the topic you will miss a hell of a lot of info about all this.

Any update with this project? Any news?
16847  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN][BOUNTY] New Cryptocurrency Manx Fund on: June 25, 2017, 10:03:56 AM
Here is my feedback:

I think Manx project is a really good idea and I like how it forces you to think about when to sell and not just dump since you have to sell everything at once. This also balances out a strategy for either selling more often and smaller amounts or holding on with bigger amounts. This will work well for small and big investors. Having to add 2& every week is a great way to increase coon value by keeping inflation down.

I'm very excited to see how this project turns out and wish you the best for it.

Hardly any updates are given here by the dev team.

There does not seem to be too much enthusiasm from the dev team or anyone else about the project.

It seems the contracts have already been paid and I believe on all cryptsy employees who have found to be complicit and/or incompetent

 Shocked

Spells big trouble for Paul Vernon and Co if it is true !

Bitfinex theft coin dump  $900 btc back to $560

I think Paul Vernon will suffer in the end because after he caused so much grief to others. One poor chap from Spain sent Cryptsy 20,000 euro and lost everything.

Where are Murdoch, Hannibal, BA and Face when you need them? Would the "A Team" accept payment in bitcoin if they were hired to trace Paul Vernon?

Nope...

If I want to, I will read through 485 pages of this thread to find out any information I may wish to seek or confirm.

Chances are I will not and if I do not want to read through 485 pages then I will post here stating what I want and asking what I want.

For those who seem to find my posts here tedious, feel free to skip past my posts.

Now back to Cryptsy... the bitcoin Paul Vernon stole has rocketed in value. He is in a position to pay everyone back and keep millions for himself to live off for the rest of his life. Let us all pray he comes to his senses and returns back to the U S of A before his Chinese girlfriend cleans him out and dumps him.

Around $800,000 after the Real Estate Fees and Expenses re the House.

The Original Estimate was higher however they reduced the Price re Local Comparatifs.

That is just a tiny fraction of the scale of the scam. It is not enough to go around for people to claim their money in full

Source?

Whoops $1.3M (but I am sure a figure of $1.75M was mentioned, maybe that was total assets seized?)

16859  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 22, 2017, 01:48:43 PM
JollyGood, your post got me a thinkin' and sure enough I found 12 accounts that have been sitting idle for a spell: https://blockchain.info/tx/c7b46a79fd8887038bd3a8e884b04820038415a60e0b9d2c2f5bcff68a2687bf

Thank you for the reply Gleb Gamow. This means that there might be others that have not yet been identified.

The question about why these BTC are sitting there doing nothing is an important one. It could be because the wallet holder no longer has access to them. It could also be because the wallet holder is waiting for the value to increase and is in way bothered about the time frame involved. It could be a whole host of other reasons.

If any of these coins are stored on online wallets with companies such as Coinbase and alike then surely the onus is on those companies to block ex-Cryptsy staff access to those wallets and provide the authorities with all available data on the people logging in to their online accounts such as IP addresses and email addresses.

Is there any hope that any of these coins will ever be recovered?
16860  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: June 22, 2017, 01:00:48 PM
Has anyone actually checked the BTC trail?

Is there a wallet out there that is completely associated with Cryptsy that has huge amounts of BTC and it has NOT been moved out and spread between other wallets?

Basically, is there a Cryptsy wallet out there that has lots of BTC but is sitting idle with no transactions going either in or out? If so, the fundamental question is "why" is no one withdrawing from it?
