Just to let you guys know that we now have a 3rd "use case" for the AT prototype which is a "Crowdfunding Agent" (see http://ciyam.org/nxt for the AT docs).

So what does it do?

Basically it means you won't need to use a "website" like Kickstarter or the like at all - you will be just able to create an AT for your project then people will be able to send funds to it which will be refunded if it doesn't meet its funding target by the target time.

Of course it doesn't give you any guarantees about the project itself (and I don't think most "crowd funding" websites do either) but it absolutely guarantees the account where the funds will go if the target is met as well as the refunding if the target isn't met.

One more middle-man gone!

(sorry in advance to all investors in platforms like Kickstarter)

Actually I think they only make pledges and only if the pledge amount crosses the target will those who pledge have to send the money.

But this would be a killer automation.

Fantastic! So have to wait until April? Any chance of some details of API before then?

James

BCNext is writing the code now, the plan is to have it ready somewhere in March and then I'll need a week for testing/refactoring.

This whole coin was dead in the water. The new tech is laughable and nothing that cannot be wrapped into BTC directly or through a 3rd party app. These coins live and die on their communities, and starting with a large centralized developer with major investors backing it does not seem like a good way to start a strong community. Real cryptocoins benefit everybody with equal opportunity. Coins like this one benefit the developers most of all, by far. Forget this coin. It is the anti-crypto.

sure, will do in 2140 if this is ok with you Grin

I will forget even faster 2139  Grin

I want to make one more point here as an official NXT treasurer.  Those NXT fund spreadsheets in my sig currently document THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION DOLLARS of assets.  This is with the NXT price apparently still being held down by a whale doing a slow selloff of his funds, with NXT still on the launchpad instead of blasting off for da moon.  In a matter of weeks or a few months we could literally be in control of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF NXT.   This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE responsibility.  Disbursing these assets is not like peeling off a five out of your wallet at McDonalds.  There has got to be a CHAIN OF COMMAND.  The treasurer has got to receive clear, unambiguous, and documented authorization to disburse from a SPECIFIC DESIGNATED SPENDING AUTHORITY that everybody acknowledges.

It's not as big a deal as making sure you've got Presidential authorization to turn that key in a nuke sub....but I'm treating it that way.  Would you rather have a treasurer who didn't?

+100

+100

This is very very very important, we need to keep a firm hold on the spending of these funds.

Ricky is right this is one (BUT IMPORTANT) process that most be centralized...preferably in very strong hands.

I, too, think that NXT should offer the possibility for micro loans worldwide.

+1

In combination with reputation system(credit rating) micro-loans could be huge....well in the beginning for digital goods, gaming, etc.

Maybe someone (with technical understanding) can contact Swedish exchange Safello
https://safello.com/

They just got $600 000 investments from investors and want to expand in Europe.
If they would accept Nxt it could be a further step into Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany.....and all
other European countries....

Count me in, but we need a place to discuss the game and ideas about it Smiley IRC channel?

Yes, IRC, reddit, free php board... somewhere we won't piss off the normal people here. Smiley

edit: I created Nxtopia over at irc.foonetic.net.

Will Nxtopia be a mobile app?

+1, We need to focus on technology related foundations.  SOL will get us zero new users and the whole "we need to play on tragedy" is complete BS.  Wikileaks and EFF are very good causes with much bigger exposure than SOL.  I'm not sure why this isn't obvious to everyone.  I suggest we start a campaign for Wiki and EFF.

Better to begin with EFF.

Some people mentioned[b
Electronic Frontier Foundation[/b]  https://www.eff.org/ and it is about the rights on the internet. So it is followed by 200.000 people from crypto and digital medias. EFF already accepts Bitcoin (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/05/thank-you-bitcoin-community) and has got 3xmore followers on Facebook and 400x more followers on Twitter (180.000) than songsoflove.org. We have the same goal here - to have internet without censorship of the governments. Nxt will provide it.

It wouldn't hurt to try with them also.

In case of anyone doesn't watch marketing thread..

I am preparing the Press release about Nxt clients.. What do you think?
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwAGADgnQcrta3ZFUlBhQ0dtaEU/edit
(texts created by Damelon and edited by me and EvilDave)

www.nxt.org would look very nice on that press release.

1.8M nice? Price is insane.

250k was generously offered by msin.

I just asked Max Keiser's (Maxcoin) wife Stacy Herbert if they've heard of Nxt through the mcxnow troll box...  ROFLMAO!    Grin

1739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt :: Automated Transactions (AT) - progress and discussion on: February 17, 2014, 12:47:06 PM
1) Could machine readable news be utilized for price feeds?

2) Could you have one asset trade against another asset in a manner which if one were to decrease the other would increase?

3) If the above is yes for both questions, could you then have another asset pegged to the above two in an automated manner.

This would offer a stable fixed price based on real world information....I could be way off on this.

I'm a nobody here, but I also kindly ask you to calm down.
Don't befoul this thread with your aggressive wording...

Smaragda has been in the trenches and today was the 1st time i've seen him get worked up....so i'll let it pass.

Why don't you ask him why he's worked up?
