I'm having some issues with my 290x. I can't seem to get above TC 8192 without it erroring out on startup(decrease tc or increase...). This card has never seen hashes above 560 Kh/s.
Current OC is Powertune +20, Mem clock-1500 core clock-1050
Here's my .bin file: setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --gpu-platform 1 --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:3335 -u XXXXXXX.X -p X -I 13 --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -w 512
(GPU platform 1 is because i have a gtx in platform 2 but even if i take out the gtx [and all drivers] same issues)
rig setup win 7 16gb corsair ram Asus 290x (latest drivers) 850W Corsair PSU i7 P8z77-v Premium MB CGminer 3.7.2
If you need any other info feel free to ask. Thanks for your help!
So your running both a Nvidia and AMD card in the same machine? If yes, take the Nvidia card out, driver and hardware conflicts. This is from personal experience. Your better off putting the Nvidia card in another machine to use for whatever else.

It's four AMD GPU's and not required for Scrypt mining. If you enabled it during mining, it will actually make you lose a good amount of hash rate.

Either a HD 6970 or HD 7870, used of course and on Craigslist. I got my 2x HD 6970's for $220 and do 1000 kh/s. That's cheaper than buying a HD 7950 for $300 to $450 that does only 550 to 700 kh/s.
Mining Litecoin isn't as profitable as mining other Scrypt coins. Mine a profitable Scrypt coin then convert to Litecoin and/or Bitcoin later. Litecoin is a scrypt coin itself too.

Yeah I just find out about this coin when it hit coinedup and I'm scratching my head why I was not mining it.. Look, for first 5000 blocks with 2450kh/s and 2 diff(I don't know how it was while people were mining it) You would make 350$ a day with current price...
Only the early miners will be making the profits and all the late miner are losing profits or making minimal profits at the current exchange rate. More like $35 than $350, those estimations are way off on the mining pool for coin output per day. I never calculate reward based on pool estimates. I always do it manually based on variables with excel sheet and it's accurate You would think it would be simple to implement in the software for the pools, guess they are lazy to do it and worried about profits...lol....I calculated that I would only get 480 to 520 coins per day with 1700 kh/s, certainly not profitable. I'm better off mining LOT at the moment than VEL...LOL What about CPU mining? Is it profitable? Is scrypt-jane cpu friendly? Should be. Last two coins I mined with my cpus was TIX and CPR, both are Scrypt Jane. You just need to download the cpu miner for VEL.

Isn't one of the major issues is the sieving is to fast? OpenCL to GPU implementation is always a challenge.

Price is kind of low for being rarer than LTC.

currently with WU 2450kh/s You would mine 448.05 coins per day which makes it not profitable at all. I guess everyone will dump and move to new coin. Price will not increase because even with current price, people who were mining it first are getting sick ammounts of money well done! Wish I start when the rewards were high. LOL It's not profitable at all at the moment. For a coin being rarer than LTC and 3x more than BTC, the going price rate is sad in comparison at coinedup... Pools don't seem to get their estimation on coin output right and/or adjust for rewards changes, that doesn't help and misleads people, when they are only making 1/10th to 1/100th of the estimate, that's nothing close to the estimations they show on the pools...LOL

I don't know for those particular models, but you will need different settings for different video cards.
I know that obviously...LOL Are you mining VEL at the moment? Or another Scrypt Jane coin at the moment? What cards are you running and what's your setting for Scrypt Jane?

whaty is the reward per block atm? 20 VEC?
Yes, until 250,001, when it will be less. Seems like the vcc.altexc.com pool estimates are really off for how many coins are going to be mined. Maybe 100 times off.

LOL not sure why all my shares are getting rejected, only when mining this coin I keep getting shared rejected. (Share is above target) Any ideas?
Can be many factors. Just recently I found out while I gpu and cpu mined with a quad core cpu with 2 gpus, I was running out of system resources and the "Share is above target" came up. I had 3 cpu cores mining and I changed it to 2 cores to mine, it fixed it. Another time, I had the intensity too high and/or worksize. You just got to troubleshoot whats the possible cause you think is causing it and try it. To others out there, what are good setting to mine on VEL? I'm currently using I=11 and W=64 with 2x 6970's and 2x 5870's. I=18 was hashing fast, but shares was coming fast enough. Also, same with W=256, seems like 64 works better. Is vcc.altexc.com the only pool mining?

Ok, so Scrypt Jane is originally intend to be a cpu mined algo. But can be initial mined with gpu while the N-Factor is low enough.
So, what are good setting for mining Scrypt Jane? I notice that you can't go too high on intensity as regular Scrypt algo and same goes for the worksize, 64 seems to be the sweet spot.
I'm running 2x HD 6970's and 2x HD 5870's at I=11 and W=64 for a total of 1820 kh/s.

I began with XSPC pump/reservoir combo. First one was faulty and so was second one. Then i desided to go with EK. Best choise i made. Now I use EK D5 pump and Alphacool reservoir, EK GPU block and EK CPU block. Rads are Alphacool (120 and 240) which are ok. Using 5 fans (3 for the rads, 2 for case intake), all are 120mm 1400rpm Gentle Typhoons. Really quiet setup. And keeps my R9 290 cool. These aren't very cheap, but imo worth it. You don't want to build a watercooling system with low quality parts. If something breaks it might (probably will) break alot of components. Edit: My PC ain't really built for cryptomining, even if I use it for it pretty much. This is more of a budget gaming PC and for me it is important that it doesn't make too much noise as it disturbs me. Thanks for reminding me of EK water cooling systems. Yup, definitely don't want coolant dripping on the electrical components. I've seen and heard a swiftech close loop system, those are pretty quiet. I might go that route, if the Kraken is that loud. Anything is probably quieter than 80%~100% fan speed of a reference cooler...lol
I wouldn't consider the Kraken loud at all for a mining rig. It's reasonably quiet for a gaming rig, rarely needing to be kicked up to 100%, if ever. What ever is in my budget between Swiftech, Kraken and EK, but still silent enough for me. Thanks guys for the input....

Ok, I'll keep an eye out for it. I might try to find some used switftech and/or other name brand water cooling systems. Maybe Craigslist or ebay.
I actually just did a bit more research on it. The G10 is a mounting bracket for other presealed watercoolers. So if you bought the Kraken X60 (A very capable cooler) for $125 and the G10 for $30, which answers pretty much all the problems with mounting a CPU cooler to a video card, it would run you about $300. Which is worth it, IMO if you're going for LC. I haven't seen a bad review of the Kraken, period. Actually, I think I saw one. Pump and fan on max is a little noisy, but the cooling it offers at this setting even beat the HD-D14, so... I've seen and heard a swiftech close loop system, those are pretty quiet. I might go that route, if the Kraken is that loud. Anything is probably quieter than 80%~100% fan speed of a reference cooler...lol

I believe NZXT released a presealed GPU watercooler, and it's pretty close to the Kraken in terms of performance. So pretty good given what it is, but still not cost-effective. You can, with some modding, put a CPU tower cooler on a GPU and it cools very well, but you need something done with the memory temps.
How much do those NZXT systems go for? I've seen Kraken CPU cooler and how much those cost? I do see a lot of cheaper generic systems on ebay, but don't trust the build quality on those. Guess I can put heat sinks on the memory modules. Kind of tired of all the noise these reference fans are making and I want to have superior cooling too...LOL It's the Kraken G10 and it doesn't look like it's released yet. Or it was released, but sold out and is waiting on round two. Ok, I'll keep an eye out for it. I might try to find some used switftech and/or other name brand water cooling systems. Maybe Craigslist or ebay.

10k tip to someone who tells me how to sync my f'ing wallet
I just made a shortcut and put the addnodes under properties then on target. For example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\coinyecoin-qt-win32\coinyecoin-qt.exe" -addnode=37.187.93.104 -addnode=23.253.71.20 -addnode=94.242.254.73 -addnode=24.20.187.178 -addnode=37.59.31.34 -addnode=37.59.54.28 -addnode=62.212.72.31 No tips required...lol

I know GUIMiner is buggy, but it's pretty straight forward. CGWatcher is more polished in ways that GUIMiner isn't. Plus GUIMiner doesn't have stats that CGWatcher has.
What do you people think is the best GUI Miner interface for mining?
