Big day and a half for P2Pool!  Looks like we might be headed for our biggest distribution ever on Friday.   Cool

Update:
Our recently purchased power supply burned out this morning.  It was only purchased a few weeks ago so I was able to exchange it at Best Buy for a new one.  Hopefully the new one lasts a little longer.  The PSU was getting plenty of cool airflow, so I can't really explain why our PSUs keep dropping like flies.

I'm getting very close to finalizing a pass-through on btct.co. I also plan 100 shares = 1 seat.

How it would work:
First the pass through would purchase seats through nastyfans. Then, shares would be put up for sale on the exchange.
The pass-through will have a publicly identifiable name in the list so seats held in reserve can be checked against number of shares outstanding.

Fees:
I will collect management fees in much the same way TAT runs his Asicminer Micro shares. 95% of donations received will be paid out.
BUT, as a bonus to Nasty Fans everywhere, I will donate 1% back to Nasty Fans.  4% will go to management fees.

Thanks Carnth.  Nice to see such a longstanding forum member offering another option.  Also great to see that 1% of donations received will be sent back to the fan club.

So are you indeed using your own shares OgNasty? Or are you buying them on NastyFans?

I already own the shares to cover the pass-thru, but I do intend to buy more on NastyFans.org.  I have no set plan for how my personal purchases are made.

Very cool Ognasty! So how does this work? If someone buys seats on bitfunder the issuer of the pass-through (you?) buys seats on sale at nastyfans? Or is it completely seperate, if so which seats end up on bitfunder? Thanks again for your continuing efforts! Smiley

can i somehow move my full shares to bitfunder?

Per the profile description on BitFunder:
  • 1,000 NastyFans Seats are being held in an account on NastyFans.org to back this 1/100th micro-share pass-thru.
  • 100% of all BTC distributions received will be distributed to their respective shares. (no operator fees)
  • Shares will have no voting rights and can not be exchanged for NastyFans.org Seats or vice versa.

Now that BFL has moved beyond day 1 60GH/s ASIC orders, I have unplugged 3 more of our FPGAs to send back to BFL to be upgraded.  This hopefully results in us adding some more hashing power soon.

I anticipate funding them this weekend. There is one stuck in customs in Spain I anticipate I will part fund 0.05 btc per coin now and fund the rest on confirmed receipt.

Partial funding?  Just wait man.  We all trust you.   Grin

It sounds like you're describing Primecoin or at least what Primecoin shows is possible.

One remaining concern is geopolitical. What aspects of the operation are secure against legal threats or confiscation?

I don't want to pretend I'm a lawyer, but from my understanding, all I am doing is mining BTC.  Last I checked, that was legal.  NastyFans are also trading fan club seats amongst each other, so there really isn't any banking or anything like that going on as with the other exchanges.  However, I feel the best way to address this concern is to continue diversifying the operation.  I suspect over the next couple months you will see a few new products/services relating to NastyFans.  I have been hard at work, as has nonnakip for quite some time on a few different projects/services that will benefit current seat owners.  My hope is that you, the NastyFans, will join together at some point in the very near future to strengthen our mining network to multiple locations around the globe.  Get ready.  Exciting things are coming.

Has there ever been any discussion about getting your shares on an exchange.  Like with a passthru or whatever?

As requested, a 1/100th NastyFans Micro-Share Pass-Thru is now available for trading on BitFunder.

17553  Economy / Securities / Re: NASTY MINING: 500GH/s Miner Loan on: July 31, 2013, 08:57:03 PM

Wow what a waste. You're not going to see that machine any time soon. **You haven't even gotten the rest of your very early order yet!!!**

We should have been polled about this.

Using our 25% discount for a mini-rig was a no brainer.  An interest free loan with extremely low fees also made securing an additional 500GH/s a great success is my eyes.  We're nearly doubling our total hash rate without reducing seat distributions.  A great deal for existing seat owners.  Since our 25% coupon would have expired before a poll could have been completed, that route was not possible.

You may also consider diversifying your exchange risk by holding assets on multiple exchanges.
17555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin Mining Rig - Parallela on: July 31, 2013, 05:11:03 AM
The Parallela doesn't look that great for floating point operations, hashing, etc.  I would go with a Xeon Phi if I was you

Care to venture a guess at what something like this would be capable of?
