Levy's mistake was not giving Poch the budget to freshen the squad up with new players.  Most of the key players at Tottenham have been with Poch for 5 years or so...  They have given everything for manager and club but what did they get in return?  Lower wages, no trophies.

They have nothing more to give.

I doubt Mou is going to change this and I doubt he'll be given much to spend either, but if he is, why couldn't they have given the money to Poch? I guess I'll watch the opening Spurs game this week to see how they fair. It's at West Ham so they won't have an easy game but a first game loss for Mou won't look good.

<snip>
Just check this post and now going to do both picks for next week as I am already down and working hard for some good place before end of year lets see what happen this week  Wink
I gone for two draws this week and one of them is Sheff vs Man Utd.
Utd is disappointing in this season and I have lost so many picks just because I was picking them as winners.

The other one is Bournemouth vs Wolves. I was tempted to pick Wolves as a winner but I think this will be very tight match and Bournemouth will be able to steal a point from this match.

I think the Sheff U vs Man U game will be close and one I'll be watching. Probs going for a draw as well but hoping for the home win. I also think Bournemouth vs Wolves will be close and a draw the most likely outcome.

Anyone think City or Liverpool could drop points this week? I'm not sure I'd predict them to, but I don't think either game will be easy for them and Chelsea are on a bit of a run recently.

I've stopped wondering if EPL chairpersons are rational people. For me, when Leicester sacked Ranieri, that was probably the last bit of doubt dispelled. If a guy beats 50,000 to 1 odds and brings you champions league football, and somehow survives relegation after getting your best stars picked off, and that's not good enough, then yeah, I don't understand anything anymore.

Yeah, that was pathetic and I couldn't believe they did that. They should have built a statue of him there. He should have been given time to turn the team around which I'm sure he would have done. Did Leicester's owners really expect them to win the league again or something and anything else was unacceptable? Was Ranieri doing anything different there that was crazy or unacceptable? No. And then to get rid of him just to have the assistant manager take over. What's the point? Even if Leicester would have ended up relegated - which I really doubt would have happened under him - they should have given him time to get them back up. After all, they were relegation favourites that year they won.

How is anyone going to get anyone better than Poch? Does anyone think Mourinho can do anything if his purse strings are tied?

It's honestly stupid. What do the owners expect? what will be a successful season with Spurs? A Champions league spot? Avoid relegation? I'm not sure what they're after but Poch was as good as they can get and they should have stuck with him. Mourinho will be there two seasons max.

Fun for the league, I do miss the Whiny One, but people have lost their heads in the league. You're right, it's absolutely stupid to talk about Pep losing his job if he ends up empty handed in EPL and CL this season and yet in the EPL, it's something you've to discuss seriously.

If they don't win this season and don't go far in the CL I reckon he'll go. He'll likely walk away though rather than be sacked, but who else are they going to get? Wenger?
1763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 20, 2019, 10:23:40 AM
It's getting embarrassing clubs sacking managers after a few bad games now. What's the point of sacking one manager just to almost certainly now go through a load of others when they don't achieve what their owners want like Man United did. I actually think the PL should start handing out fines and maybe even point deductions if clubs feel the need to sack a manager during the season. That would stop them. You can't buy players whenever you want and the same should be of managers. Spurs have finished 4th, 3rd and 2nd the last three seasons and Poch got them to a Champions League final last year but sack him now? I know they're currently 14th in the table and it looks worrisome but they're technically only 3 points away from 5th place. Is Mourinho going to do any better than Poch? I doubt it. It'll be the same story as United. The way things are going Pep will probably get sacked this year if he doesn't win the PL or CL (which probably isn't going to happen). What do owners actually expect from managers these days? Win every possible game and at least one title? When the competition with City, Liverpool and Chelsea is so strong it's a huge achievement getting a Champion's League place these days. They really need to change this culture of disposable mangers. Also, get rid of VAR  Grin Grin Grin.
1764  Other / Meta / Re: Force Moderators To Give A Reason For Deleted Posts on: November 15, 2019, 12:26:48 PM
I think it would be helpful and is something I've suggested in the past. A lot of times people actually have no idea what their post was removed for so at least this will help people learn to not make the same mistake again. Giving mods a drop down menu with the most common infractions would be helpful (of topic, ref spam, undeleted bumps etc), but maybe also an additional comment box to expand further if needed (but not required).

The vast majority of posts are deleted because they are either off-topic or do not add any new or useful information to the discussion. I think it's probably safe to assume this applies in 99% of cases.

But a lot of times it's not because they're off topic. In fact, most times it's probably something else, but I can't tell you the amount of reported messages I've had from people reporting their deleted post notification screaming that their post wasn't off topic because that's what they assumed it was removed for because it states it likely was in the message.
1765  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to reduce signature campaign spam posts on: November 13, 2019, 02:27:40 PM
Wouldn't it therefore be a useful measure to prohibit signature campaigns to require a minimum number of posts per week or month? Or at least a minimum number of 1 to 3 posts per week or not more than 10 a month?

Doing this is pointless if nothing changes at the manager level as the abusers will just jump though the required hoops to abuse the campaign at any cost. If a campaign pops up here and they have little to no management or quality control then it will be abused regardless of how many posts they can or can't make. If you limit it to x amount of posts then they will just create or buy multiple accounts to maximise earnings as many are already doing on certain campaigns. Decent posters can make 10-20 posts a day, but they're not the problem; it's the shitposters on shitcampaigns that shouldn't even be allowed to operate here that are causing the damage and the ones that can't run a campaign to an acceptable standard should be dealt with in other ways.

@big_daddy: You deserve the 19/1. I went for 3-0, and perhaps I was being a wee bit disrespectful of Citeh's attack. Silva deserved that goal, whatever, but I'm so glad Sterling had a torrid time. Some jinxes are just never going to go away. Priceless to see Sterling moan the way he does, and Pep too, but he turned out to be truly magnanimous in the end. He's right, you know, best team in the world =p

@cryptofrka I actually thought we were lucky too, but after finding out it hit Silva's hand first, I don't think anyone can complain. Tell you what though, VAR is so tricky it could easily have given the penalty, so I still haven't changed my mind about it!

The problem is the ambiguity of the handball rule. VAR usually gives these sorts of ones, or at least the first one (the second came off Silva's hand first so that would have been given for that).

Two week international break AGAIN  Roll Eyes
Might be a good idea to hold off submitting your predictions in the pool until after the international break guys incase of injuries etc.

Roll on game week 13.

I'd put them in so you don't forget but just don't lock them and you can change them at anytime.

Really didn't expect the Watford win. Congrats to the five that went with it. No real games I'm interested from the early-midday games today, but the Arsenal/Leicester game should be one to watch. People are making out like this game could be the final nail in the coffin for Emery but I don't get why everyone's shitting on him as they're fifth in the table right now and doing well in the Europa.

Has anybody else noticed the 2-1 luck of Liverpool? Liverpool has won 6 out of 15 matches this season with the scoreline of 2-1. Out of these 6 matches, 5 came in Premier League from 11 matches.

I've said it multiple times before but 2-1 is often a good score to go with. It's kind of my lucky score.

@hilarious: I'm definitely happy to share Dazn if you get it, just let me know how to cover my share. I will use on 1 device (laptop) but MAYBE also on mobile if I'm travelling, which happens a lot on weekend afternoons. So max 2 devices. No idea how these things work but pretty sure these days they're easy peasy.

You can have a max of 5 devices registered, but I'll be using two myself and probably also another with a friend but you can only have two watching at one time but I think if you is the same IP it doesn't matter. Do you have a proxy?

1768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 08, 2019, 04:39:49 PM
There's a few people who look like they've forgotten about the game tonight.

Come on folks , a few people have got to get their picks in !
First game on TONIGHT.
Proper bottom of the table clash . Plenty of goals Huh?
Look like we are going to watch first win for Watford as they are improving and Norwich is going down day by day over 2.5 and Watford to win is very good going right now.

I really wouldn't back Watford, especially away. I think it will either be a bore draw or Norwich will narrowly win. Don't forget they beat City at home a month or so ago and Watford haven't even won a single game yet and I don't think this one is going to be it.
1769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 04, 2019, 10:22:11 AM
Did anyone spot the bitcoin signs in the perimeter boards in the Everton vs Spurs game? Pretty cool (can't find a pic tho :/)

Where they for one of the bitcoin sportsbooks? I saw some in a couple of the other games yesterday that mentioned bitcoin in the advert. Think it might have been sportsbet but there was also another. Either way, nice to see bitcoin getting some mainstream promo.

12 minutes of injury time lol. What happened?

There was few long VAR checks and a real bad injury for Andre Gomes. I am quite sure he broke his leg. They didn't show it on replay but it seemed to me on first watching that his foot was turned 90 degrees. Son and Aurier were involved in incident and they both looked like the are on verge of vomiting so it wasn't anything good. Hopefully he will make full recovery.

Yeah, they didn't show or mention it on the highlights I watched, but I was wondering why Son was reacting like he'd just seen someone murdered. Looking at it again it doesn't seem like it was Son's tackle that broke it but the follow up one by another player.

The Yelow Cap is in da house!

Congrats. Think you should be in the top 5 highest round scorers now.

.
Oh shit! Such injuries is the worst part of sport.
I like Son a lot, but this foul was really stupid and not needed, it was obvious that's not going to end well. No surprise that he is getting lot of hate. Obviously he didn't wanted to hurt Gomes, and he was in tears after accident. Unfortunately, such things happens sometimes...

I don't think Son's foul made damage, more are from Aurier's start. Though it doesn't change the fact that its terrible injury.
Also, I read on some newspaper speculation that is a possible career-ending, I hope they are wrong.

All leg breaks are possible career ending, but they're usually not. It all depends how they heal. He'll likely be out for this season though.

Son is getting hate because it looked like a revenge tackle for that elbow he received a minute or 2 before. Sure, he did not mean to hurt him and Son really seems like a nice guy but this was reckless and the outcome is horrible. I honestly think it was not even a red card, but really foolish and unnecessary from Son.

The red should probably be rescinded in my opinion. The ref gave the red after he saw the extent of the break and probably assumed Son was responsible.

Yeah VAR's just silly all around. Like Klopp said, we shouldn't be waiting and at the end of the game be able to laugh about it, but to have a goal chalked off because of an armpit offside is plumbing new depths of being silly. Sure, we got another last gasp victory and it will be a huge boost for next week's Super Sunday but it needn't have been like that if EPL just takes a bit more pragmatism to the VAR approach.

Var should only be used when called upon. Don't go looking for stuff to disallow the goal as you'll find something half the time. Give the teams three appeals like in tennis. I really doubt they would have used one for that goal, and even then, if it was studied better it probably wouldn't be offside anyway and that really defeats the purpose of VAR when they're getting it wrong. Even footballers who were for var are saying it's ruining the game.

@hilarious Dazn looks like it could be nice, but I'd have to sort out that Canadian dedicated VPN first right? $2 per month and how much is Dazn? Would it stream proper thru VPN at 50mbps? I know, it's a bit sucky but my neighbourhood apparently can't do more from cable.

Well you can share mine if I get it. You can have up to five devices so you could use it as well. Dazn is $150 for thew year which is about £80 which is a steal for all the content they offer. I think Sky Sports would cost you that a month in the UK. If you want to split the cost I'd be ok with that. I'm going to try get it set up today so I'll let you know how it goes.

@LFC: City probably more gutted than Villa last night, when they scored their second, we were still trailing 0-1 haha. Seriously can't wait to host them now. 31 points after 11 games. Has that ever happened in EPL?

I was absolutely fuming that we were losing to them, I couldn’t believe we were about to drop points to Aston fucking Villa. I bet Pep was rubbing his hands together......but then the mentality giants found a way. AGAIN!!!!!

Did you see the Firmino disallowed goal by Martin Atkinson on the VAR? I’m sorry but he must have taken a bung. He, personally has tried to screw us numerous times. The media are picking up on it over here, he moved the lines several times to try & make Firmino appear offside.

Take a look - https://twitter.com/sennesation/status/1190991043451400192?s=21
Media picking up on it - https://twitter.com/beinsports/status/1190718797340000256?s=21

Luckily it didn’t cost us but this Martin Atkinson guy needs to be exposed.
Things like this can lose you a title because City are so close to us.

Any way, rant over. On to City next week, if we win you could possibly say there is real daylight between us but lose & they’re right on our tails.

I doubt it's anything to do with Atkinson but shityy var. Did he view the footage on the screen or just take the VAR guys word for it? Var isn't perfect in those sorts of calls because of the camera angle. The only way it would be ideal is if they have a camera running up and down the sidelines which would be silly.

I know a guy who paid £3,000 for a ticket for Madrid & it was a fake (obviously he didn’t know). The barcode didn’t scan & they ripped it up in front of him.

This is why I'd never but a ticket from a tout. Far too many scammers taking advantage. Would be great to see a final or maybe some sort of high stakes game at a major venue but I wouldn't shell out more than £100 or so unless it's maybe the El Classico or something.

Looks like Hilarious is going to be the new leader in the pool except Tottenham losses the match, then MoSala(I don't even know who that is  Huh) is going to take over.

Just a mere 7.5 points for me so far, my all time low I think.

Grabbed the full three points in the dying minutes:

12 minutes of injury time lol. What happened?

Definitely do wish I had access to Sky boosts, that was incredible, and yeah guys I'm also waiting for someone to suggest a good legit subscription that also works ex-UK.

Darkstar sorted me out with a Dazn account but I'll probably need a dedicated Canadian IP to use it. Seems like they're only $2 a month with PureVPN for one so very cheap. You interested in Dazn? You can have two simultaneous connections  and 5 with Pure VPN.
1771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 02, 2019, 05:25:20 PM
It was looking like there was going to be some more big upsets today but then late goals happened for City and Liverpool and not only did that Liverpool winner bag me a correct score it also won my bet:

So doubly chuffed with that. Did pretty average on the pool but looks like most others did as well which isn't surprising with the shockers today. I wonder if there'll be another one with the last game of the day with Watford vs Chelsea. Maybe Watford will get their fourth draw on the bounce or will it be Chelsea with their fifth win in a row in the PL. Personally I've gone for the Chelsea win but 1-1 is looking like a good choice right now.
1772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 02, 2019, 10:28:17 AM
A few people still need to put their scores in.

What does everyone think of this weeks opening match between Bournemouth and Man U? Will United comfortably win or will they slip up and return to the previous poor form from a few weeks ago? I think United should win but I don't think it will be easy as Bournemouth are at home and also on equal points with them and for that reason I might go for the draw.

No real games I'm that interested in watching today other than the City game but only in the hope that it'll be a goalfest. I didn't actually realise that City played Southampton in the EFL cup on Tuesday. They beat them 3-1 but with a weakened team. I'll probably actually go for a 4 or 5-0 on the rematch but as I said before I wouldn't be surprised if it was much more but City might put another weakened side out due to the Champions League on Tuesday.

Also still looking for this:

BTW, does anyone have a SkyGo account that they'd be willing to share access to? I can pay for such. Tried to sort accounts for both Dazn and Hotstar but no luck so far.
1773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 31, 2019, 07:29:03 PM

It's both a good and bad thing (depending on where you are in the table  Grin). My only issue with superbru is the scoring. I think you should get more points for an exact score and with getting 1.5 points for a close score it makes the table even closer. Something like 1 point for the outcome and 5 for the exact score would be more preferable imo.

You say that because you have 3 exact scores and all other wrongs in the last round.  Grin

Lol. Well I actually didn't realise that but I have stated a few times that the points system would be better if it was changed, but since you mentioned it getting three correct scores and finishing mid table for the round is quite harsh  Grin. I think the BBC site we used when I first started the pool was something like 10 points for a correct outcome and 40 for the exact score and that was much better. I like that you can get an extra half a point for a close score on superbru but it makes things far too close in my opinion and getting a correct score should get you a significant bonus since it's relatively hard to do (and getting just the outcome right isn't that difficult).

BTW, does anyone have a SkyGo account that they'd be willing to share access to? I can pay for such. Tried to sort accounts for both Dazn and Hotstar but no luck so far.

hilariousandco is just Butt Hurt TM that I posted on his Trust feedback wall his two alts in the Known alts thread (ironically it was the user ColderThanIce that made the connection, ).

One: Why have you trademarked Butt Hurt? Two: Why would I be butthurt© over you posting on my trust wall that? It was pretty moronic and redundant though when I've already publicly posted about them in the feedback section and everyone knows they're my accounts. Three: There was no "connection" to be made.

I'm disappointed @theymos never took action when hilariousandcowas caught out making alterations to my signature not long after that.

lolwut?

Only ten? I haven't paid much attention to his ratings for a long time but he used to tag numerous people as alts because they were registered in the same year as some other accounts or he's found some other random pattern in their accounts that only he can see. If he left those alone and only left negative after thorough investigations with evidence more than someone was registered in same huge time frame he sets himself then I wouldn't have a problem with him other than his petty attitude.

I've never said "same year" - I've said same day, or in a eg seventy-two hour window, but not because of the same "year" - It shows you haven't read my posts, just clicked reply and flame.

I used to read them all the time. You've made plenty of wild unbacked accusations in the past and used ludicrously large time frames as some sort of evidence, far larger than 24-72 hours as you claim.

1775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 31, 2019, 03:25:28 PM
I anyone going to go for a ludicrous scoreline on the Man City / Southampton game this weekend? If Leicester can beat them 9-0 away could it be even worse for them at the Etihad? City beat Watford at home 8-0 last month so could they eclipse that? Not sure I'd go for that sort of result but it wouldn't surprise me. I'll probably go for somewhere in the middle. No real thrilling games this weekend really or none I'm that interested in watching except for maybe the possibility of a goalfest in the City game.

That Southampton 0-9 Leicester was a freak scoreline, that score has only been matched once & it was Man Utd vs Ipswich in the 1990’s.

City will batter Saints but I don’t think it’ll be as high as 9-0. Maybe something like 4-0 or 5-0. The game against Leicester they had 10 men for most of it. You’d hole for their sake that the manager has kicked ass & they’ll fight a lot more on the pitch to avoid another humiliation.

Well I don't think it will either, but a team like City should be hammering the shitters regularly by half a dozen goals really. They've already had a couple of 5-0's this season and if they can beat Watford 8-0 and 6-0 this season then I don't think it's out of the question to see a similar score line again or even more. I know Southampton will want to bounce back but that's easier said than done against City at their homeground.

Just off to do my predictions now, going to take my time over them as this pool is too damn competitive.
One bad week & you can probably lose 5-6 places on the leader board.

It's both a good and bad thing (depending on where you are in the table  Grin). My only issue with superbru is the scoring. I think you should get more points for an exact score and with getting 1.5 points for a close score it makes the table even closer. I do not have Timelord in my trust list. Just went through it to make sure, but that doesn't mean I don't trust some of his ratings. He's right more often then wrong when linking accounts. Does he have a piss poor attitude? Of course, he does. That still doesn't make him wrong in most cases.

He might have some good investigations under his belt but his ratings are kinda invalidated when he'll throw out negatives based on little more than some ludicrous coincidences he thinks he sees.

I have Timelord on ignore and distrust for a long time now, and even so I can recall at least 10 cases when he has shown the judgement skills of a toddler.

And astoundingly enough, you have experienced and "well trusted" members of this community who still come up with gems such as "his efforts are a tremendous contribution to the health of the community", at the expense of inflicting completely unfair injuries against valuable and totally innocent members of the forum

They are probably just looking at the decent investigations he has done and overlooking all the bad ones.

It is 100% irrational stuff like this that makes a lot of people suspect there is foul play going on in how the trust system is handled in this forum.

I wouldn't go that far. I think this is a case of where exclusions work. I excluded him a long time ago because half his feedback's were wildly inaccurate as have several others.

Perfect example of why timelord shouldn't be on DT and nobody should pay attention to his ratings.
Shit, I didn't even realize he was on DT.  Sometimes Timelord2067 finds solid, obscure connections but sometimes there's a definite air of paranoia and/or straw-grasping going on in his head.  I tend to respect him but it would probably be best if he wasn't on DT given some of his questionable feedback.

I'm not sure he was on DT but maybe someone yahoo trusted put him on their trustlist. I wouldn't have an issue with timelord being on DT if he didn't leave all the other grossly inaccurate ratings that unfortunately they spoil the lot.
1778  Other / Meta / Re: Why are my posts being deleted? on: October 29, 2019, 07:14:20 AM
It's probably not selective enforcement, but there are dozens of mods here who will all interpret the rules their own way and nobody has to handle the report, but even when they don't people will still call that selective enforcement so we lose either way. I saw the report on the necrobump but left it because it didn't seem like a big deal and was on topic at least but it was technically a necrobump, but you could ask what is a necrobump? At what point does a post become a necro? I've seen people report posts as a necro because they're merely a month or two old but yet we have countless old threads that are bumped constantly and some with much larger gaps, and that's when staff opinion becomes involved because there is no date on when something technically becomes a necro. Personally, I'd rather people bump old threads if they're still relevant as opposed to creating new threads for the same old things time and time again but that's just me and there was nothing wrong with removing the post.

Sure seems like that is exactly what is happening here:

Unless someone from china decides to screenshot this and make a better one and sell it for lower margin and higher quality in all of China.
I heard of a site called Threadless years ago. Go check them out, you can set up your own store there and then promote it to sell your stuff. Their fabric is very durable as well. I regularly buy for Christmas from there.

But in your opinion the rules don't apply... because, and don't bother posting about it because we will erase that too.

Again, it comes down to purely opinion. Personally, I wouldn't really say that is ad spam but I can see how you would. However, it's arguably sig spam but again, that would purely be down to opinion and the report is still in the queue because all the mods who have looked at it are probably on the fence about it... or maybe someone will handle it at some point.

4 draws in total from this weeks games and Brighton/Everton and Liverpool/Spurs were very close with 3-2 and 2-1 scorelines respectively, so I wasn't far off. I was the only person to bag three points from the Watford/Bournemouth game ending in 0-0. Had a feeling that would be a bore fest.

What did everyone think of that VAR decision in that game?

I didn't watch the game, tbh. But it strikes me that you're not a fan VAR, I'm not a huge fan either but then with you, It's on another level Lips sealed

Bit of an exaggeration. Maybe watch the latest debacle though. If VAR did what it was supposed to then I wouldn't have any complaints, but getting decisions wrong after 2/3/4/5 minutes of deliberation is counter-productive and a waste of time. It clearly needs tweaking but I think we'd be better off without it at this point or not using it to check every possible thing that could go wrong after every goal.
