@crackfoo, using cpuminer-opt, why is it that this works:

-p MyGamePC,xevan,m7m,yescrypt

But not this:
-p argon2,xevan,m7m,yescrypt

Algos left in the password field will tell the pool you want to switch to that algo if profitable....  This is your problem.  The algo switching is independent of the algos available if that makes any sense.... just because its disabled, doesn't mean the pool doesn't know it still exists.

Remove the extra algo names that aren't available/you arent mining, and it should fix your problems....

I have been using machine identifiers as the first bit in my password fields since day one of zpool.  They are handy, and it works fine.

Since argon2 is a real algo;  its causing a problem.   I.E.  never name a machine after an algo type.
1762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 16GB SSD with Windows 7 and want to upgrade on: March 02, 2017, 10:06:47 PM
For me it is simple, installing win10 pro, entering key and after installation using KMS activator, after that it works without any problems. I don't know how the software policies and regulations work in your county so I can't actually advise you anything. Also the SSD sending idea is just a waste of money, if you decide to take a risk you can do it yourself.

Problem for most is;  using a KMS activator is illegal;  because they never purchased the license for the group they are activating to.... and 90% of those people don't even have a key for 10 to use to begin with.

In layman's terms: for the greatest portion of the population;  using a KMS activator would be illegal. ( Foremost being not owning rights to the keys they are using, and secondly not following the EUA for said license;  Take the Pandaminer as a prime example)

Agreed the SSD sending is a waste of $$$ also because it won't be activated on the new machine. (even though it was activated on the machine that installed it).
1763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 16GB SSD with Windows 7 and want to upgrade on: March 02, 2017, 08:28:59 AM
ell I don't know what any of that means, what would it cost me to have you put like 5 copies on SSD's and mail them to me?

They would have broken activation and be unactivated when installed into another machine.

I proved this would happen to myself by switching HDD's between two PC's that were similar and both had activated copies of 10.  Swapping the HDD's, broke 10 on both machines.
1764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 16GB SSD with Windows 7 and want to upgrade on: March 02, 2017, 01:15:24 AM
Not to derail your question or anything, but where do you get all your copies of windows from?  I want to get my rigs all up to windows 10, but not really interested in paying for copies of each.

Have a legitimate copy of 7x32/x64 and activated.

Update windows 7 machines to the point SP1 installs and you get a popup on next boot informing you about windows 10 etc.  Kind of a blue screen.

Then get the downloadable win10 ISO, I burned mine to a USB with both versions x64/x32, then insert usb in thge machine you want to upgrade, and run the autorun from within windows (you can't do a clean install or a boot from the USB to use your existing 7 license mind you)

Follow process to install windows 10, but choose upgrade.

When asked for a serial/license key, just click next/skip.

It will install.

It will then auto-activate itself based on the original license.

I still use this method today.
1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are the first steps in installing a second GPU Card? on: March 01, 2017, 07:54:53 AM
most boards will have problems trying to use their onboard along with a 16x card.....

Typically you choose internal, or external video.  not both.....  Too much heartache in most instances.

I have also tested on my daily use PC;  putting my faster hashing card as a secondary did not increase hashrate at all.  Being able to trim up the intensity on it, and lower on my screen-use video card did not yield a net gain in hashrate ever.  So I always run the best card as primary (for use) and the others purely for mining.

I did see issues in windows when mining on a secondary card and gaming on the primary card at the same time.  The hashing on the other card somehow used the GPU for some things in the nvidia driver.  HArd to explain as I don't know much about it, but I know the driver has an ability to select what GPU(s) to use in the control panel... and I think that paid a part in it.

I wish I could game from one card, and mine at un-reduced intensity on the secondary cards... but I just get too much weirdness from mining on other cards while gaming on the primary GPU.

Hopefully this adds some help and skips some hurdles for you.  It can be applied in several ways; not just to gaming.

For reference this was on a first gen i7 that I utilize every bit of pretty much all day.... I've been in need of a generational upgrade.  Been looking for a high core/high ghz Xeon ES chip... Feelers have already been sent out... just waiting....  Then I select a board for the chip and upgrade.
1766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are the first steps in installing a second GPU Card? on: March 01, 2017, 12:41:23 AM
I have a machine which has a functional gpu it's using and I bought another gpu card to install.  What are the first steps after installing the second card?  I noticed that it tried to use the new card as the monitor gpu but since the drivers aren't in, the monitor wasn't working.
Using an older Ubuntu Suse with a Radeon HD 5570.  I know it won't mine much but I already do ASICs and wanted to get started at least.

Remove first gpu.

Install new gpu.

Install new gpu drivers; don't do a clean install if asked.

Once miner works on new gpu; install old gpu as well and it should work fine.
1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ~30Mh Litecoin miner... Help me ID this thing... on: February 26, 2017, 11:46:50 PM
try Minera.. i've had great luck with it on my gridseed blades, and gridseed black.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596620.0

tried it;  no luck;  this is not a gridseed device.  The USB driver shows up as a USB device, not a virtual COM port.

Take a pic of where USB plugs into board (there might be a separate little board for that), and I'll id it/ get you the right drivers for it.

(Near top of photo)

USB is the rectangular guy on the right with no markings on the chip itself.  even the hash chips are completely bare.   Very few things on the board have ID markings.
1768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ~30Mh Litecoin miner... Help me ID this thing... on: February 26, 2017, 12:21:47 PM
Do you have a boat?

Perhaps you could use this as an anchor for it.
No thanks to your comment,  I have made a lot of progress.  FYI about your snarky remark, My friend has an entire server rack at his disposal in the server room of where he works.  He works for a rather large corporation (Think IBM/Cisco/Apple/Etc); and this miner along with several GPU rigs are being installed there since its free power and open to his use.  We are getting an entire IP range dedicated to us for that rack.  Our only instructions and requirement from the network tech for his building is to use a VPN for all of it's traffic and do whatever you want from there.

It's good to have connections, and frankly, comments like yours only insult yourself.

I was able to trace back the connections on the USB;  This thing has a 4 layer board... so I didn't have much hope initially as most traces are on layers 3 and 2, and all of the chips conveniently have no markings....  I was able to get the two damaged hashboards recognized by my home PC.

The owner furnished a new 1200W power supply, and I have it all back in and wired up.  I am just waiting on him to furnish a new Pi, as this one's USB chip is fried.... it no longer sees usb devices... and it should be back up and running 100%.

Now;  As for the Pi image:

100% sure that all miner functions are controlled through the web PHP interface.  The web interface is what launches the miner app;  and it seems that it edits a system file to set autostart on bootup.   This stuff should be easy for me to change and remove dependence on the web interface for this miner.

Now:
I can get the cgminer build off the Pi.  That's not much of a problem anymore;  I already have it.  Just copy it to another linux install, change permissions, enable execute, etc....
Can anyone point me towards a way I can go in and pull the USB drivers out of this build and inject them into a RPI2???  Or just identify what the bloody driver is for this USB->serial chip?  Zadig doesn't work, and windows driver for this device doesn't create a virtual com port...

My main issue is no driver for the hashboard USB...  And I know its there on this Pi image.  If anyone wants me to make a folder of the pi available, or specific files to help find and ID the driver amongst the data of the pi's image... please LMK.  It would be MUCH appreciated.
1769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][Hash Rentals][Multipool] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: February 26, 2017, 09:27:42 AM
any one have any luck running equihashminer (GPU) on zpool ??

I'm using Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670733.0

I have a Radeon 280x and getting 290 S/s

Here's the command I use:
ZecMiner64.exe -allpools 1 -zpool mine.zpool.ca:2142 -zwal 1MkmBHDjonAFXui6JEx9ZmEemfMtUo9Cmu -zpsw equihash

However, it does not exit/close when the profitability changes like cpuminer.  So far cpuminer is the only one that behaves properly with your pool when profitability changes (exits out so the next line in the batch file is executed).

I downloaded that miner;  looked at the readme, and it doesn't have a function to close app (not return) on stratum disconnect.

Sadly that specific miner app will not be able to utilize the stratum disconnect feature for auto profit switching.

With the nvidia one I mentioned several replies ago;  it has a flag you can set...

On another note, I finalized the initial version of my manual batch and updated the post.  It can be found via the link on my sig.  V1.0.

It has been working really well for me.  Its soooooo nice to be able to control farms without remote logging into each system to change stuff.   Such a long arduous process.   I know there are miner control apps out there;  but again... I like low overhead.   I am only using powershell to do my http request.   Which;  is pretty low-level in many respects.

I also manage miners for friends who know nothing about the semantics of mining, and I used to host his S7 at my house....   so I just keep a separate text file that I can control his rigs we are setting up over the next month.   Id have them on my file;  but if I do a profitability test, I can just pull one of my rigs out of the mix, and test profitability, or my whole farm.... without affecting his.

The real PITA in batch files is the IF/ELSE scenario.   It adds soo much bloat.  Being recursive is tough sometimes.

I have been trying to wrap my head around a way to make the batch retrieve commands, or at least a batch file to download and run;  and that new batch itself could update the miner software (download strategically placed files on the web), close the current running batch (it will have been launched in its own memory space like I do ccminer), delete old batch file, rename newly downloaded/updated batch file it got at the same time as any miner updated... and then launch the new miner batch.
I think I know how im gonna do it.  Just need to write a template batch file for the update process (the batch that the miner batch downloads, and it will actually be dowin the main downloading/updating).

Completely transparent operation..... yet the ability to update itself....

I remember writing menu systems and such for my old 8088 when I was a LOT younger.. this brings back memories.  I still have my Amstrad tucked away in my parents attic.....

1772  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 23, 2017, 09:59:31 AM
No. Installations must comply with ANSI standards.
^^ is dead on! In North America you will have either a NEMA 6-15 or 6-20 for respectively a 220v 15A or 20A outlet. 110v outlets are NEMA 5-15 or NEMA 5-20. The layouts are non-interchangeable to prevent serious mistakes when plugging things in.

I have a Nema 6-15 to C19 cable for my Coolmax 1600W PSU...  I have plans to make a generator engine run on an "alternative" fuel source and run this power supply in the future.  I can just plug it right in, and it's about 6Ft long.

you CAN use a 110v outlet;  but that would have to be a dedicated circuit to be safe.
It could be a fire risk if the wiring in your house is pretty old.  If so, who knows to what spec it was wired to.

I ran an S7 @ 1000w and 1300w on a 20A 110v circuit that was shared with other things.  Wasn't a problem for me, but I monitored and checked everything first.

@crackfoo does the equihash port send disconnects like the rest of the stratum ports?

Im wondering if equihash can be used in with the pool controlled algo switches via the password field.....

This is the equihash miner I am using with my Nvidia cards: EWBF ZCash miner

look correct?? 1050ti OC having trouble measuring equihash 1 sol/s = 1 hash/s 172sols = 0.0172 mhs ??

equihash=0.0172,sib=4.53,blakecoin=1.78,lbry=106,lyra2v2=13.3,neoscrypt=0.45,decred=1.03,nist5=16.34,x11evo=5.02,x17=3.56,blake2s=1.55,skein=203  ??

Regards
Nemo

Enter it in a term of kSol/sec.... so 1Ksol/sec would be 1.00, 300Sol/sec would 0.300...  Assuming your normalizations are the actual hashrates as I do.

JK's zPool Remote Miner V0.8  Alpha

fantastic, thanks a lot!

No prob.  Thisis something I have been wanting to have for a LONG time.   No need to log into a miner to swutch algo....  Cause in my instance, I have many machines at many locations, and when a profitability spike happens, i want to be able to take advantage manually.

Next i'll try to mix this with the regular batch and make it so you can select "auto" on the web file.

JK's nVidia zPool Miner "Manual" Batch V1.0

Update: Updated to 1.0.  Tested and functions well.  No major changes since V0.9 Beta;  just beautification and cleaning up the mess.

This batch REQUIRES Windows Powershell >= 2.0. But luckily that covers PC's from Vista and later.  99% of users will not need to install or download anything extra.

Simple.  Same as my original batch instructions, but as well you must enter the URL and filename of where you will be uploading a text file containing the name of the algo you wish your miner to mine.   If the batch can't get on the internet, you will see a huge red error.  It will continue to retry every so many seconds.

My example is just a txt file on a tripod website.  All I do is change the algo name in the text file (that only contains the algo name in it) and the miner will automatically check it and change the app as needed.  If it detects no miner running, it will restart it's whole process.  You can also visit the url and see the text file I am currently using.

I have not tested this fully for longer than a few min.... but AFAIK, it should work fine.  I tested it.  It works great.  I have all of my farms running this batch now.

Please report any issues you may have.  And I'm looking for feedback and suggestions.

I bet you guys didn't think a batch can do this.

How does the script evaluate that some other algo is more profitable ATM?

The pool does it via sending a que; in the form of a stratum disconnect.  Kind-of ingenious.

Im working on a version of the batch that I can drop a txt file onto my web url, and I will update that text file with the algo I want my miners to mine...   and the batch will automatically check it every so often and close then start a new one if the batch contents have changed.

I have finished the batch aside from adding the lines for killing the open process of the miner but for some reason im having trouble communicating with my VPN's host PC;  even though im connected to my VPN now......  so no tests tonight.

Ugh.  network woes.

Im sure the ability to control an entire farm remotely;  using only an identical batch file on each miner;  and having the farm be at any site on the web... will be something people will want to be able to do =)
