1761  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for people to store some of the forum's money on: November 20, 2013, 02:23:58 PM
This is why it is fallacy to allow random people to hold your money, just because they have some positive rating and run some service that holds some good amount of coins.

Obviously I didn't base my decision-making solely on reputation, or I would have accepted TF's offer.

I plan to switch to multisig in the next few months. I didn't do it initially because Bitcoin-Qt didn't support it natively, but it does now. If you're interested in being a treasurer, post here.

I'm interested in being the treasurer. Johnk can vouch for me and he's on my Whatsapp contact.
I run a Bitcoin Consultancy from Kuala Lumpur, have an automated escrow site and done a few manual escrows in this forum.
I attended Bitcoin Singapore last week and met famous people like Roger Ver, Asher Tan/Ryan Zhou from Coinjar, Johann from Monetas and lots more.

Here is the comment that I've made to another escrow service:

I talked some time ago with a bitcoin core dev who told me that basically, the escrow service is already embedded in the bitcoin protocol.
Basically, you send BTC to 3 public addresses, and it requires only two privates keys to use the output of the transaction.
In this case, the third party can never use the output without the agreement of a second player in the transaction.
In normal use, the two persons using the service won't need the involvement of the third party to complete the transaction.

Are your using the Bitcoin protocol in this way?

I think that's called multisig transactions.
We plan to have this feature soon.

also been told i will be getting nothing back. i have already contacted lawyers in australia about building a case, legal action appears the only resort we have.

Someone told me today they are trying to find out the real identity of TF and this people have big contacts.
Also still waiting for TF to return my 76 BTC in CL and it's ridiculous.

John K. Alternate Account = would only send or post GPG signed messages. Will always change password every log on and log off. Can be terminated by a mod or disabled, until he gets back on his regular actual account in a sterile environment.

But since he already has his tablet, then ... no need for the alternate account I guess. Just be careful with connecting to free wifi hotspots, they can be pineapples in disguise.

or some honeypots in disguise

I'm also looking for coders to fix up a casino, but it has not been easy.
1774  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: November 19, 2013, 01:09:07 PM
The problem with me not logging to give status updates is that I do not access the forums until I am sure I am in a sterile environment - I just got a dedicated tablet for this so that I can be sure I can access the forums when I need to.

On retrospect, I should've cleared this refund up around the end of last month when life was starting to show signs of being really busy. I didn't do so as I was forever waiting for everyone to clarify their addresses and stand forward to claim their funds - there is still about 20-30 BTC (not counting ragingazn and prodigits' claim here) unclaimed as their owners were still away.

Johnk, glad to see you back in action.
Please check my whatsapp message.

1775  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase and Me on: November 19, 2013, 08:45:34 AM
I can't believe that Coinbase who had 5 million funding back in May 2013 could have so many kinks in its system.

I hope you strongly considered canceling the upgrade due to the risk of a crash.  Especially if it would take more than 15 minutes.  Any time that BTC is going up 20% or more a day, you are near the peak and ready for a crash (whether it is the ultimate crash or just a correction).  You might have been able to take preventative measures to decrease volume (ex. increase minimum order size).

The previous two booms (2011, and 2013) had the greatest rate of increase the day before the crash (someone should double check it, but it is what I recall).

At least it isn't scheduled during the Senate hearing.

Why isn't the upgrade done on a weekend ? It's usually quiet during that time.

My BTC is still stuck in WeExchange. Will post some details later.
1778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: November 19, 2013, 06:08:16 AM
Now to some exciting news.

The Mastercoin Foundation asked me to review the candidates and select a "Smart Property Lead / Evangelist".

I want to thank all the people that applied for the Mastercoin Foundation Smart Property Lead position. I was glad to talk with each of you individually and hear how passionate you are for contributing to the Mastercoin open source project.

After interviewing all the candidates and much consideration I've selected Taariq Lewis for the position. Many of you might recognize Taariq from his interview on CCTV. He is passionate about Bitcoin and developing one of the first projects on top of the Mastercoin Protocol smart property feature.

Taariq will be serving at the point person for the Smart Property feature in the sense that he will be talking with other developers that want to build on top of the MSC protocol smart property feature, gathering community input, and bridging a dialog between the awesome developers coding it up and those that want to use the feature.

Here is his Linkedin profile to see his back ground: www.linkedin.com/in/taariq
Preferred channels:
Email: taariq.lewis@gmail.com
Phone: (646) 479 - 6098

(Yes I asked to share these publicly).

Thanks again to Taariq for offering his valuable time serving the community in this position.

David A. Johnston Mastercoin Foundation Board Member

Thank you very much for the introduction Dave!

It's a pleasure to focus on Smart Property and add value to the Mastercoin community.

It's going to be a great ride.
Taariq

Taariq, congrats on getting that position ( I was one of the candidates too).
Looking forward to see great things for Mastercoin.

other people get this message to email him?

User 'TradeFortress' has blocked your personal message.

I got this too. So I have sent TF an email.
