17621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we finally in BULL MARKET? on: February 24, 2019, 01:30:33 AM
First time here guys.

Lost 95% of my investment. Now gained a little more.

What's causing recent increase in price?

Did people finally realize that bitcoin is the future?

so 20,000 x 5 % is 1,000. a 95% loss

this means you are into something other than btc.

as it went from 20,000 to 3,100 or  an 84.5 % loss

So your math is off if you are talking about BTC

I get you may have been diverse   and BCH even with the split is still way down.

This a round bout way of asking  did you really buy in Dec 2017  or did you buy early peak up and hodl while it crashed.

I know some guys with 150 btc that just hodl and did not sell a single coin in 2017 dec.

If you really put in most of your money from Nov 2017 to Jan 2018   you are way down and you should hold for a while longer.

I do not know if we will even get back to 20000 but we could see some upward movement from now till dec 2021
17622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Two Antminer l3+ on One APW3++ on: February 24, 2019, 01:05:03 AM
if you have  10 cables on the apw3+

5 to one and 5 to the other.

do not split.

and down clock  just a little bit

try to do 550 watts + 550 watts = 1100 watts

it comes to 110 watts for each cable

and if you were mining  the s9  it pulls that per cable

you simply do not need to split the cables.

the pcie jacks can do 150 watts each

the cables can do 120 watts each

so you will be fine.

@philipma
Have you ever tried to get help with your problems on Telegramm Channel? https://t.me/bitcoininterest
I wouldn't sell all of my coins near the bottom...

I got help on discord.

I imported the wallet with 1800 coins in it to the windows wallet.

and some how only got access to 70 of the 1800 coins which pretty much makes no sense at all

the mac wallet says I have 1800 coins the explorer address says I have 1730 coins

I do not understand how only 70 of the 1800 got moved and accessed by me.

Still working on the issues and I am not comfortable keeping 4500 coins in the windows wallet i sold them and took my lumps.

If I ever free the 1730 coins I will hold them.

edit I sold all the window wallet coins  and converted to ltc.

I have about 1730 stuck in the mac wallet.

I am trying a new method to free them.

I made a new windows wallet from scratch . imported address and key.

waiting on the  new wallet to scan from august 30 2018

https://explorer.bitcoininterest.io/address/iQ8NZjczzQx2cZYH63wgsprgMD17EBaPiy

iQ8NZjczzQx2cZYH63wgsprgMD17EBaPiy

if these show in the new wallet it should be fixed and I will hold them.

Edit:

this worked I now have  130 of the 1730 coins in the new wallet and it is scanning as i type.

I thinking the rescan done  when I transferred the address and keys to the first windows wallet was not a full one so 70 coins were found this time the new wallet is doing the entire blockchain from August 2018.

So I now have my new windows wallet with coins showing up.

Since I sold 4500 coins at low price i put them into LTC which moved up a bit.

I can simply go back to mine and holding this new wallet.

Is there any thread dedicated to BCI mining?

not that sure.  I mine on it and  I may stop mining due to this wallet issue.

It now stands that the mac wallet is stuck.

I imported  the keys and the address to the  windows wallet

but only 70 of the 1800 coins became accessible.

https://explorer.bitcoininterest.io/address/iQ8NZjczzQx2cZYH63wgsprgMD17EBaPiy

if I look at the  windows wallet it is like the keys and the address did not fully make it into the wallet.

ie after feb 19 yes

before feb 19 no

So I have decided to sell all my bci with the exception of the stuck coins.

I sold about 3000 of 4500 that I can move around.

I will sell the other 1500 in the next two or 3 days.

I will then see if I can free the 1730 coins stuck in the mac wallet.

Hopefully you hear back late Sunday your time Philip. Pango tends to reply in a reasonable amount of time.

I just ordered

the board
Pair of fans
psu

from you (minefarmbuy) for spare parts

order # 10001352

I have enough gear  that having these parts is worthwhile.

If they could pack the replacement hashboard in with that order they would save money. ( one can hope Grin )

Dave F. had a great point.  I did some more math and I came up with this model:

at 300ph for the next 2 weeks this pool needs to pay 175 coins

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

I plugged in 300 ph.  so 175/12.5 =  14 blocks.

if  you are expected to do 14.17 blocks and do 12  it is .75 cdf

if you are expected to do  11.34 blocks and do 5 it is .988 cdf   this is a decent long shot

https://www.kano.is/index.php?k=pblocks

all info is from here.

So this pool at 300 ph with really bad luck  would only hit  say 6 blocks during the next jump  and lose 8 blocks.

What does a loss of 100 coins do for them?  Logically it hurts small pools  such as

pool.ckpool
solo.ckpool
mmpool
kano

So like Dave said  this pool paying  just over 99% of the 12.5 coins would only be doing so to hurt smaller pools.

I continue to support smaller pools as much as I can with my own personal hash.

ok.... sigma took the time to merge two of my posts but not to answer the question?

A mod did that. As this is not a self modded thread.

Frodocooper may have cleaned up the posts you made.

I said I would not post here as fighting with kano over me being wrong and an idiot is not worth it.

Phil did they  contact you about the bad board?

No , But to be fair I asked them at 4pm USA Friday  which I about 4 AM China Saturday>

There is good here to be learned.

1) I am going to buy a set of parts using minefarmbuy.
2) If you want a quiet miner running 2 boards on low power will be really quiet.
3) We will get to learn how well they respond to busted gear.

I am waiting for the answer to the bold.

If you look at 1)
Board sm1 is dead
They do not sell a board

I did not open the unit since they have not replied to No.3 in bold.

Phil did the hard reset help?

No  on second screen shot you can see it has done 1331 attempts to fire the dead board up.

So it is most likely a board issue. It also has the issue on low power.

here are the  good six at clifton  as you can see one is a bit under  at 24th the rest are good

When you open it up to pull the hash board, please take pics of how the PSU is connected to them. Curious to know if they use bus bars from the PSU and BM-style clips on the boards or something better like actual screw-down connections to the boards.

I just turned it off for 30 minutes.

I will power it up now  to see it that dead board fires up.

I will be getting this package of spare parts.

I will place order on sat.

no reply on hash board which is still down.

I am going to try a hard reset pull plug for 20 minutes

Sorry to hear philip, not a lot of reports on whatsminers failing. I suppose the only caveat would be it's with someone who will keep us updated.

Pricing on the fan seems pretty high unless shipping is cheap. The I/O board as well. I'd look at other fan myself but I hate having to figure out cable length.

I'm sure you can handle everything but if you want some help philip let me know.

it is 2 fans not one so it is not that crazy high price.  but not cheap either.

I am waiting on info on the hash board replacement.
17634  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M10 33.0 Th/s, 2145W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: February 22, 2019, 06:27:33 PM
I found they have spare parts for the m10.

the psu https://pangolinminer.com/product/power-supply-unit-for-m10d1/

the fans https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-fan-set-m10/

the control board https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-control-board-shipout-before-3-31/

since we have 7 of these I will be needing to order 1 of each of the above.

I also want to mention weather is good here in NJ we have had a pretty warm winter. Grin

ps I will post back on  the repair service.

If you look at the quote here you can guess it is board SM1 the fastest one that died.

this one is a bit funky

sm0 does   9295 gh  63.5 temp 448 free
sm1 does 11896 gh  75.0 temp 576 freq
sm2 does   9158 gh  63.5 temp 437 freq

the one in bold was the one that did not want to fire up for a while
17635  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: February 22, 2019, 06:23:57 PM
... but even at that, I'm not going into heavy iron for mining until BTC rises more, or like Philipma, I get access to some solar...
imo, the only way that thought works out is if you literally can't afford the cost. If you believe the price will rise, then every coin you don't mine between now and then is that much you are shorting yourself and giving to someone else.  Wink
Agreed... and I honestly can't afford the cost without a better return... But having said that, although it's still only measured in TH/s instead of PH/s, I have increased my hashing power 15 fold since this time last year... it is all pointed here, or at the ck.solo pool. I believe in this pool, and the necessity of decentralization... Some of we believers don't have thousands to throw at these beliefs, but we still do the best we can with what we can. I suppose I could sit and wish I started mining 4 or 5 years ago, but I've learned that I can't control the past - only work towards a better future. For me, this pool's a good thing, and I will do my best to remain a part of it and grow as I can afford to... It's all good and getting better every month... I send my thanks to the whole community for getting me here and I want to specifically thank those on this pool/forum who keep me informed and excited about the future... That thanks includes retired IRCX Gods! It's good for me to surround myself with knowledgeable people. Thank you. And as I have said on this forum previously, when it comes to -ck's pools, I'm in for the long run.

With the solar access I have more responsibility for other people.

So I can't point all the hash here. Sucks having partners at times.
I did get a 7th m10 on Monday and I have determined it has a bad board

so instead of it doing 31th it does 20th  but the good thing about that is it will stay in my house with m power and my full control for at least a week or two more. so it is pointed here  20th is not much but I will always support this pool one way or the other.
I also checked out the m10 support and put in a ticket.

I found they have spare parts for the m10.

the psu https://pangolinminer.com/product/power-supply-unit-for-m10d1/
the fans https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-fan-set-m10/
the control board https://pangolinminer.com/product/miner-control-board-shipout-before-3-31/

So I will be pointing this 2 board m10 here for quite awhile and I may be ordering spare parts for my 7 m10's
I will also let people know how service is for the dead board.

This unit seems to have an issue with one board.

It simply does not fire up. It did work for three days and I switch pools.

Now it does not want to fire up.

I am going to contact pangolin to see about support.

17638  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining in South American and Central Asian countries on: February 22, 2019, 04:15:45 AM
doing business is a foreign country is hard.

Especially if you don't have relatives an or trusted friends to look it over for you.

Here in the states mining coins can be close to a certain profit.
You need to know the rules of the state you live in and plan accordingly.
I am expanding in NJ, USA I should make a profit.
That is hard to say in many places.
I can say it here in NJ.
Will I get rich no as I don't have the $$$ to really grow.
But buysolar and I did
a 100kwatt solar array
a 300kwatt solar array
and are in talks for a 500-1000kwatt solar array

I would estimate a 10megawatt setup would also work but finding the right people make that a bit harder to do.

Based on this why go to a foreign country?  Well in my case i won't.

I have some family in Australia, Argentina, Canada, Italy, Norway.
But I just don't need to do it.
17639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon T2T 26T on: February 22, 2019, 01:03:56 AM
never really liked INNO, their website is terrible to begin with ,i find bitmain with all the flaws and greed to be more professional.

to actually buy and get  the gear bitmain is pretty good.
17640  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Any suggestions or experiences on using a voltage stabilizer/regulator on: February 22, 2019, 12:41:51 AM
Unfortunately that is going to prove challenging with the latest Bitmain models, where the psu is customized. Which is a big issue if, for example the S15s failure rate at 240v really is higher than usual. Where do you get a replacement PSU not made by bitmain?

yeah  but we don't really know  if they will have a lot of issues at 241-247 volts.

I can tell you this that these two transformers are too costly and will only do 1 s15 not 2.

this one has a lifted ground = not too safe
this has 14 maybe 15 gauge wire input which can not handle 2 s`15's

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Norstar-5000-Watt-Step-UP-and-Down-Voltatge-Regulator-Transformer-Converter/332955089461?

this one wastes about 2.5 maybe 3%  to do the 220 volt leveling
it is 14ga or 15ga
the two 220volt outputs are chained wired internally  with 14 gauge wire should be 12.

and an internal wire had its insulation nicked and could short.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Norstar-4000-Watt-Step-Up-and-Down-Voltage-Transformer-with-Voltage-Regulator/332607784072?

so while they are not super costly  they are not good enough to use.

larsonelectronics has better gear but it is not cheap

https://www.larsonelectronics.com/

https://www.larsonelectronics.com/p-153799-1-phase-buckboost-step-down-transformer-240v-primary-229v-secondary-at-4367-amps-5060hz.aspx

this should do 3 s15's  it most likely could do 4 but I would only want to do 3

it will cost 1-3% power loss  and at 197 plus shipping it is not that cheap.

it is just  a straight step down  which means  11 volts less  out then in.

so  if you have power that goes from 237 to 251 like I do it would be a decent choice for 3 units.

If you are going to run 5  units   you need a bigger boat so to speak.

this one could do 8 s15's

https://www.larsonelectronics.com/p-147785-.aspx  cost 673 plus shipping

it would drop power from 242 to 220

you would need to feed it with a 150 amp panel then make outlets for the output.

But it is all conjecture since we are not fully sure how the bitmain psu's will stand up.

no one else has come forth to claim an issue with the psu's  so it may not be an issue.

I will say this the apw3++ can do 245 -247 with out any problems.  I have had very good luck with them and s9's
