I don't think that would work - how would you deal with multiple threads requesting a bump to the top? They'll have to compete with each other for the first place. If there's a commercial option I would prefer a separate page for it and a bid process to get one of 20 (or 50, or 100) spots on it guaranteed for e.g. 24h, randomized with each load perhaps - somewhat like the current forum ad banner. But given theymos allergy to ICOs it's unlikely that he would want to make money off that. I've suggested before to sell "sticky" spots, but indeed, I don't think it's very likely to be implemented. |

i use windows so yes it has to be python You can use bash utilities on Windows too. Or boot your computer from an Ubuntu LIVE DVD just to do this. yes it is very very slow for files above 1,000,000 lines when i want to compare a files with +10,000,000 lines to other 2,000,000 lines (i had to cancel and close the script  ) It took me a while to create 2 test-files with 50,000 Bitcoin addresses, so I just copied the same addresses to the same files to make it 10 million and 2 million lines per file. The comm-code above took 9 seconds to find all matches (and my PC is not very fast). I strongly suggest to use the proper tools for the job Update: it used 1.5 GB RAM to do this. If you have much more data to compare, it might reduce memory load if you sort the files first. |

You don't need a new account for that. To view any page as DT, just add ;dt to the url: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;dtThere are 100 members in the above list. Several DT1-members are excluded by other DT1-members. That means they don't really count as DT1-members anymore. If anything other than random is used, it'll end up with the same set of DT1-members each month. Theymos want it to be more dynamic, and also give newer users a chance to reach DT1. Merit system is in place since January 24, 2018. A lot of people contributed before, but did not earn any merit for that. Those threads have gone down in the history of BitcoinTalk. Only a handful of those get merit today. IMHO, the only way to recognize the contribution made before January 24, 2018, is to consider Forum Position as a selection criteria of DT. I can't say this seems very fair to smaller coin devs trying to get their project noticed. There are thousands of those, and almost all of them will struggle with the same problem. The old system, in which spam threads won, wasn't fair either. I agree the hundred of newbie comments can be very annoying for people and to an extent it is a good idea in preventing this but it all seems to be more biased towards those that have been here a lot longer than those even here a year or two. The Merit system was created in January last year. Being around longer doesn't necessarily mean earning more Merit: many old users barely earned any Merit, and some much newer users earned a lot. and deciding to look at a random topic I took a look at your topic, and it looks exactly the same as thousands of other shitcoins. at least consider a bump option for an activity level every few days etc as "no Merit = no bump" is a bit to unfair. The problem with Activity level is that account farmers can and will farm thousands of accounts to do this. A paid bump option could actually work: the forum knows the current bump score of each topic. Based on that, it could offer a certain price to instantly reach a certain bump score and thus a certain position on the board. After that, the normal bump decay would apply again. Maybe $10 to be on top and a bit less to be half-way the first page? If the forum offers a paid option, it could take business away from commercial bumping services. |

Does it have to be python? Bash command comm does exactly what you need: comm -12 <(sort file1) <(sort file2) I don't know how fast a Python loop would be, but the above code takes about 0.05 seconds for 2 files with 50,000 lines each. |

Have you searched for existing tools? I have no experience making this, but a quick Google search shows many "automation tools for LinkedIn" and "LinkedIn bots" shows there are many options. This might be a better solution than having someone start from scratch.

I can imagine a ban, apart from the loss of signature revenue, makes someone care less about the forum. As dumb as it sounds for some website on the internet, after spending several years here I'd really be hurt if it happened to me. Wow, 229 shitposts to 0. Xenrise was on my ignore list already, that's not a good sign for post quality. I'm surprised he qualified for a signature ban though, I thought unbans were reserved for people who make a net positive contribution to the forum, and I don't think someone who earned 1 Merit for a deleted post contributes much. I really don't keep track of who's been banned and was actually surprised to see cellard, zazarb, and a couple of other members on that list. Search for ". Legendary " (excluding quotes) on my A wave of bans-topic, you'll probably recognize many more names. If being in a signature campaign means that someone made posts they wouldn't have made without the signature - that's not a good sign. When I joined my first signature campaign, I had made 145 posts in 11.5 months. I didn't even expect to reach the minimum requirement of 50 posts per month. I was a Mod on the site at that time, and that's why I joined the campaign. However, I started posting more, and if anything, knowing that guitarplinker checks my posts made me very aware of the need for quality. It all boils down to the signature campaign manager: if someone is paying for spam, there'll always be someone willing to spam. |

Using LN without planning can not only cost you more , but also increase the number of onchain transactions.
LN is not a magic solution, it only relieves fee costs and decreases onchain transactions if used wisely.
Which in LN case is multiple transactions between the same parties over and over again. Many people keep their Bitcoin on exchanges. Top 100 Richest Bitcoin Addresses shows a few billion dollars worth of Bitcoin in cold storage owned by exchanges. Once LN becomes mainstream, I can imagine the people who store their funds on exchanges, won't have any problem using the same exchange to make their payments. Currently thats not a viable option because withdrawal fees are much higher compared to using your own wallet. I imagine a future in which exchanges keep a couple million dollar worth of Bitcoin in their LN hot wallet, and many people use the exchange to make their small payments without ever needing to fund a LN channel on their own. Say: paying from exchange to VPS provider, paying from exchange to buy a coffee, or paying from exchange to fund a balance on website x. The exchange, VPS provider, and website x will run their own LN-node. The coffee bar will most likely use a large payment processor that runs their own LN-node. There are already custodial LN wallets, but they still need to earn their trust. If a large exchange would provide their own convenient (mobile) wallet, I'd love to use it! LN is Banking 2.0 . As long as it's optional, I'm totally fine with that! I want to be able to use Bitcoin for small transactions, and for small amounts I don't mind trusting someone. Is it really Bitcoin in which you and only you are in full control of your private keys? No. Do I care for small amounts as long as I can make small payments without paying several dollars in fees? Hell no! |

On a side note: It is kinda ironic that a non-gambling campaign (Chipmixer) is currently offering the best paying signature campaign, by utilising the most lenient model with regards to post requirements. When I say lenient, I do not mean regarding post quality, but rather post frequency. You wouldn't think that a niche service like a coin mixer could "outbid" mainstream services like casinos, when it comes to signature campaigns. I think you underestimate the volume of mixers: Bitmixer for instance processed 65,000 BTC per month. I'm not sure how much they charged, but at just 1% you're looking at 650 BTC revenue per month. |
