What is the difference if they split?

One may have to pay a tariff of X BTC to have grapes shipped outta Napa Valley.

Quote
Timothy Draper, a venture capitalist founder of a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm that has invested in such tech companies as Twitter, HotMail, Skype and Tesla, told Reuters he has the 808,000 signatures needed on a petition to force the measure onto a public referendum in November 2016. Under the far-fetched plan, one state would be called "Silicon Valley" and would include the tech mecca, as well as San Francisco.

"California needs a reboot," Draper, who has spent $4.9 million of his own money on the effort, said in a press release. "Six Californias is our opportunity to solve the many problems we face today. ... Six states that are more representative and accountable. Six states that embrace innovation and strive to improve the lives of residents."

I wonder, what are the chances of getting this Draper dude into Bitcoin? Do you thing he'll make a good fit and all? Then again, a person of his stature probably wouldn't want any heat from the FBI, et al, thus don't spend too much time trying to convince him about the merits of Bitcoin. The last thing we want is to have such a dude thinking that bitcoins are mainly used for illegal activities on the internet, i.e. purchasing drugs, and we surely don't want them to think that.

Either uninformed or one of the most excellent trollings I've seen in a long time.

Amazing! I wish they quit hiding shit from me on the internet.  Roll Eyes Strange how that article doesn't mention Bitcoin, yet a many politicians in Caliprime - from the top down - are getting on the Bitcoin Band Wagon.

This have been posted in the politics forum and I think here too.

For me this is just some crazyness that will never happens. US gov is operating in negative, and it will increase the government expenses.

17964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Schiff talked me out of bitcoin in 2011 on: July 17, 2014, 03:35:20 AM
I use to listen to the Peter Schiff show all the time. I bought gold because I believed in his theories. Gold hasn't done much. But he was dead wrong about bitcoin. In 2011, I learned about bitcoin from callers on his show. I looked into it and thought is was interesting didn't buy any at the time because he said it was a bubble and wouldn't last. If only I would have bought bitcoins in 2011 instead of gold I would be rich, rich, rich. A couple months ago I sold the gold and bought bitcoins. We'll see what the future brings. I don't listen to Peter Schiff anymore.

It could be worse~ Imagine if you listened to his dad and decided to not pay taxes because the government is fleecing you through some big con.
17965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island on: July 16, 2014, 09:04:07 PM
Here is a very good option: a tiny island in the mediterranean with an old fortress on it:
http://www.montenegroinvestments.info/projects/mamula-island

And the best part is that its home country (Montenegro) is very very business friendly, very very low-tax and very cheap. There is possible to get even a banking license at a very cheap price: https://www.offshore-manual.com/europe-montenegro.html or setup an e-gambling business: http://e-gambling.me/en/16/services (or maybe both in one).

Oooh I do like this idea.

Quote
The fortress Mamula nowadays represents on of the biggest and best preserved Austrian fortifications on the Adriatic, characterised by monumentality, prominent building precision and perfect functionality of form.

What's not to like? It's Austrian influenced. I only suggest moving the island ~.3km closer to shore to then come full circle.

not going to Isreal! not supporting anything Isreali. sorry, I don't like to work with Nazi v 2.0

Your lack of grammar and clearly intelligence likely means that your financial intelligence is non-existent as well which would lead any logical person to assume you have no money to support or not support Israel to begin with.

You're making fun of my grammar skills while writing a never-ending sentence? LOL Irony is a mother-fucker.
You determined that i have no money by reading one sentence? LOL. You sir, are a full retard!

You mean the never-ending sentence that may, or may not, require a comma that ended with a period?

17967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Israel Bitcoin Conference July 28-29, 2014 on: July 16, 2014, 03:51:55 PM
How safe it travel in and around Tel Aviv these days? I planned a trip there in 2012 and had to cancel because a bomb exploded on a public bus in downtown Tel Aviv, causing several injuries and long-range rockets launched from Gaza reached as far north as Tel Aviv and southern Jerusalem. Israel has been on my bucket list for a long time and this would give me an excuse to go. Well this and Baha’i Gardens in Haifa, the mountain fortress of Masada etc.

There you go again, overstepping your authority by asking a question, a question that needed not be asked of a peaceful nation like Israel, for their neighbors know better than to even consider flying a single drone over them, let alone shooting rockets in their direction.

Tel Aviv will be just fine during the conference, doubting if even one siren goes off sans for testing. Until the day comes where Israel recalls every ambassador from their embassies from every country in the world, one need not worry about the state of affairs of Israel.

Satire, with apologies to Meni.

17972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: affect whether Bitcoin mining on ecology? on: July 15, 2014, 05:23:57 PM
And what about infrastructure created around ASIC miners or fpga? Have you calculate it too? The system's difficulty growing too so there are constantly growing need for new Thash's ( equals new kw's).

again if we were still in the GPU arena, the network difficulty would keep on rising, because miners would always compete to gett a nice slice of the reward pie, more gpu's would be racked and stacked, like i said for 1kw a GPU unit (4gpu's) would produce maybe 4 or 5 ghash each. so even if the difficulty possibly lower over the 2 years of 2012-2014 due to maybe a 10%-20% rise instead of a 20%-40% rise. the amount of physical units would increase. like i said ASICs are a 25 fold electric saving but the amount of new GPU units would not be 25x less.. infact there would be more.

as you can see here https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate the hashrate of july 2013 - august 2013 webt from 200thash to 280thash(roughly) which shows a 40% jump a month. so lets use a conservative 15% jump a month if left on GPU mining and lets work out the kw for just 1 year (july 2013-2014)

so
july 2013 200 thash (40,000kw) gpu unit 5ghash (200units per thash x 200 thash=40,000)
august 2013 230 thash (55,200kw)
sept  264.5 thash (63,480kw)
octo 304 thash (73,002kw)
nove 349 thash (83,952kw) dece 402 thash (96,545kw) janu 462 thash (111,026kw) febr 532 thash (127,680kw) marc 611 thash (146,833kw) apri 703 thash (168,858kw) may 809 thash (194,186kw) june 930 thash (223,314kw)
july 1070 thash (256,812kw)

if you havnt worked out from other posts i like to grey out less neded-to-know info

so this month GPU would show only just above 1petash hashrate but a 256mw electric bill.
now lets go back to that chart the peak of this month is 145 petahash = 145mw electric bill

so asics bring 145x more hash power for 60% of the power.. hmm well thats more efficient then i first thought up.. so its all good, bitcoins use 145megawatts (to answer OP's question) compared to a GPU prediction of 256megawatts if the mining industry stuck with GPU's

now to google some stats about cities and other stuff
http://ask.metafilter.com/145849/Which-uses-more-power-Disney-or-Las-Vegas
Quote
According to this 2007 Forbes article, Las Vegas uses 5,600MW on a summer day

so the entire world of bitcoin uses only 2.6% of what las vegas does

i hate maths.. but there you have it

Ahhhh! I see. So, the bad guys are all Altcoins with their combined consumption of electricity.
17973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Micronation that uses bitcoin and other cryptocurrency as its national currency. on: July 15, 2014, 05:16:05 PM

We 100% recognize any 'acts' issued by the US Government. If a member of our nation is given any citation, ticket, or court order it is our recommendation that he obey it. At this point the US Government is leaving us alone and letting us manage our nation, and we wouldn't want to do anything to make them come down on us.

I do think I know the difference between the two

We still pay a tax on any goods purchased within the united states, and we each individually give foreign aid to the united states around April 15 Cheesy

Like I said before we don't want to do anything to attract negative attention from the united states government.

then your not a nation. unlike the amish or native indians that do not have to worry about government acts and have the freedoms as such, you are nothing more then people playing a game. and not a proper nation.. lol

sorry but your a laughing stock and just a dreamer. im sorry but its true. good luck in life but dont think by any means that you are a separate nation. you are purely a separate society..

There is no need to be an asshole about it. Let him have his fun and dont be a douchebag.

I flavor a for-funsies nation over a douchy nation any day of the week. (I meant favor)

- North California: The wine country counties of Sonoma and Napa, as well as the Sierra Nevada region.
- Silicon Valley: Including San Francisco, San Jose and most of what's considered the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Central California: The vast central valley farm region, including Tulare and Fresno counties.
- West California: Including Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
- South California: Including what's called the Inland Empire of San Bernadino and Riverside, plus San Diego.

If Sunlot Holdings seriously intends to pay you back, then why are they planning to pay a person/company who charges $900 per hour?

In the filing, the group listed Freeh Group International Solutions, a firm established by former FBI director Louis Freeh that has carried out a series of investigations into high-profile scandals, among a team of advisers it planned to tap for Mt. Gox.

"But, at the end of day, creditors would be owing you money."
"For a second there, I thought you didn't know how Bitcoin works. BTW, that'll be another 15 minutes added to the bill."
"I like how you think!"
"You just earned a discount. Now, let me get back to work."

Not bad, but a I think that it needs more about how mining works and the like. It is fairly good, but there all always be stuff that has to be improved.

And wallets/wallet providers should also be listed, or linked to, so that it helps people along better than just some instructions. Linking to the list of wallets on the bitcoin website would be a good idea.

Other than that, it looks like a pretty decent site. Now, then again, I'm not one to judge websites, so take my opinion with a gain of salt. I still have yet to learn that skill.

I'm going to make a coin too, and to be 100% fair to people without mining hardware, I will 100% pre-mine. That way people with fancy equipment won't have an advantage.

I'll sell the pre-mined coins for a high price only, but don't worry - I'm not greedy, I won't keep any of them for myself! and the high price will help keep the value up until they are all distributed. And then after that, free market! but selling them at a high price will give momentum.

And I'll give a few away for free too, to people who come into my thread and talk about how fair the distribution is, and talk about how green it is, and use the phrase "to the moon".

I'm thinking I'll call it Scrypt Coin Alternative Money [exchange symbol SCAM]

There will be new features of course, but not at release - at release I'll just talk about them but they won't be implemented yet.

In the spirit of the sediment expressed in the OP, I think you meant Scrypt Coin U2 Money [exchange symbol SCUM].

But, watch this video http://suchsafe.com/index.php/item/97-leaked-moolah-video-proof-of-a-false-statement-by-moolah-ceo from the 37m mark forward, found at the bottom of the fold, and clearly one can smell something's afoot.

I don't get why people are upset ?!!  here is the definition of realcoin:

Quote
Realcoin eliminates the volatility concern of Bitcoin by being backed by the dollar. It is a one-to-to redemption for each Realcoin in circulation. Utilize Realcoins just like Bitcoin or any other digital currency, but know that it can forever be redeemed for the dollar that originally created it.

Realcoin will be completely transparent, safe, secure and insured. Every dollar that is held in our reserve will be represented by one coin in circulation and can be redeemed at any time.

it means 1 USD = 1 Realcoin fixed, all I understand is that this realcoin will make it easier for third party exchanges or decentralized ones or services that rely on the dollar value at a given moment, and it can be redeemed back to Dollars at any given moment.

I think this is cool to be honest, it is not an altcoin at all.
