181  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: May 30, 2018, 10:02:07 AM
I have a question about merit. If ever I gave merit to someone, will it be deducted on my current merit?
Hi, erickkyut,

Your questions are actually on the wrong thread, this topic is more on improving member’s rank with quality post who have been here for a long time but trapped to their current rank due to merit system implementation. To help you, see below answers:

No.
You can read more here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

To check your sendable merit (sMerit) just click +Merit, upper right.

You have received a total of 100 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 5 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.

how many merit can I give to the same person.
Answer:
Is there a limit on how many merits I can send?

Yes. You can give a max of 50 merit to a user every 30 days.

Also, what is the required merit for me to be Legendary?
1000 required merit.
182  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Tips for Beginners on: May 30, 2018, 08:53:18 AM
Trader’s viewpoint:

I suggest, you should have actual analysis base on facts and concrete evidences that will show a fluctuation of trades, otherwise it is all bullsh*t. There are long game e.g., 40% Long-Term, 25% Mid-Term, and 35% on-hand currency for quick flips. If you are looking to capitalize on small percentage gains (1-10%) by trading a lot with a decent amount of bitcoin, there are coins designed for just that purpose (do your research). As for those short-term 5,000%+ gains, ironically, that requires a bit mid-term strategy. I do not usually advice putting a bunch of coins on these all at once; you will likely lose your money or scare off the pumpers. Accrue gradually with small amounts that will not make the price fluctuate much and keep in silent, the more people you let know about it will likely smashup your investment, best to do these so you know whether it's stable enough, observe.

If you see pump activities, put more on right price before it takes off. When those coins that are going to sprout up in the next couple of days, most are nearly impossible to tell with more than an hourly notice, you pretty much have to stay ready and always observe the markets for coins that were not on the radar beforehand. Remember to never set single sell walls; divide it up on multiple prices, the lower the amount on each price the higher probabilities you have of it being sold. Try to stay under 0.10btc per price on high volume coins and 0.05btc on lower volume coins, might suggest spreading them out deliberately for you to regain your original investments early on and still have free coins to play with.
183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Common mistakes made when first investing in cryptocurrencies on: May 30, 2018, 08:19:28 AM
The very common mistake people made when investing in crypto currency is their mindset that it will make you rich the easy way. People are here because they are hoping to get bitcoin/alt coins to help them get some easy money for whatever reason or purpose it may cause. By these, their emotional quotient is greatly affected, in which leads to different badly behavior, e.g. frustration, lack of thinking about the pros and cons of crypto currency, sleeping routine, and other behavior that help contributes in losing their investments. When you think differently, perhaps it will help you gain more; mistakes are inevitable, learn from it.
184  Other / Meta / Re: Merit and rank requirement on: May 27, 2018, 10:48:59 AM
It will only create more forum spammer, if percentage system will be implemented, people will just spam, create more account, and just wait for the time to have their free merits to rank up, it’s not how merit system work. The main purpose of merit system is to help us enjoy reading those with quality post. You don’t need to chase merit, mate. The fact that you purchased a CM means you are serious with your membership here, please don’t waste it, and be a quality poster. My advice: you just need to be yourself to earn merits. I’m contented with the current merit system and glad that it was implemented. See you around.

Speaking of spammer, I think these links contributed to the idea on signature campaign:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1443
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6797
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=142136

EDIT:
-snip-
Sorry but I have not mention certain percentage for new member or jr. member. I mention the member or higher rank need to get new merit to stay on their current membership. If in a certain period of time they cant receive any merit they should be delisted from their current membership. So there is no way to increase spam post hence it will help to get helpful and quality post from them.

I am a jr. member... we have to receive a percentage of merit on a particular phase of time it may be 5 percent per month, 10 percent per 3 month or something like that. And percentage can be differ from the types of membership.
185  Other / Meta / Re: Merit rewards are ok ? on: May 25, 2018, 09:43:01 AM
Bounty campaign’s purpose is to promote their coins by giving free money to its participants in a form of rewards. People tend to jump in because of the marketing plan free money. The most common and well-known business strategy is word of mouth, if it’s free why don’t we try right? People will tell their friends that it’s free, we are the pioneer of this coin, we need to participate on spreading our coin’s advantages among other cryptocurrencies, and hoping that the price of their coins (free money) will grow. This makes it more attractive to people, and get them more engaged. Bounty campaigns played a major role to these vast ICOs, you just need to examine the idea behind, and giving them merit won’t work. Merit is already free; its purpose is to help the forum by:
Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.

Hi, forjustice,

The forum's rule is very strict when it comes to any plagiarism activity. "Copy and paste" without citing a source is considered plagiarism, which is illegal. It is a big deal not just here, but in real life. We need to be a responsible writer, as a member of bitcointalk community we need to be conscious that there are laws that we need to consider before posting. Be accountable for your actions. Please edit your paragraph indents and spacing, in order for us to understand your point of view.

Hi, ankurguta87,

Thank you for the proposal to help eradicate frauds. However, you also stated the flaws in your proposal:

1.   White paper it is not possible for many people to judge the ICO and its capability.
2.   ICOs also get funded due to unauthentic or may be paid rating.
3.   Lack of awareness.

Community members do not have more time (giving merit(s) is already time consuming) to investigate every ICOs here. I am sorry but it will not help our community, it will only create more scam/problems (sample vote buying). Their money, their risk, not ours. They need to be more responsible enough with their money.

Lol, so does anyone know if the guy who sold the pizza kept the coins or what price he sold them at?

Hi, Hueristic,

Sold his coins on July 2010. This will help you:
According to the seller of pizza - Jercos, who at that time was 19 years old, he sold his bitcoins when its walue increased ten times, that is for $ 400. Most likely, judging by the history of transactions, he did so in July 2010, just at that time bitcoin increased in price by 10 times, from $ 0.008 BTC to $ 0.08 for BTC. Jercos now works as an engineer-developer of Inovonics Inc, the company is engaged in radio equipment.

In general, as I thought, most of the bitcoin millionaires became them only because they did not keep track of BTC growth, and those who kept in the course of events earned a little.

Laszlo Hanyecz continued his business, 8 years ago he proved that bitcoin can be used as a currency, but in 2017 it was again questioned, as the price for the transaction sometimes reached $ 200. In 2018, he again proved that you can buy pizza for bitcoins, using the lightning network, he spent 0.00649 BTC for two pizzas, or $ 67, and the price for the transaction was 6 cents.

Hope everyone had a great Bitcoin Pizza Day. As it is the #1 thread on this list (by age) it seemed like a good time to stroll down memory lane with some of the classics.

For those newbies who wants to check the blockchain transaction, this will help:

You are joining a forum for earning only? Make sense? You don't actually deserve a place here on the forum.
we should take bitcointalk as a place of gathering knowledge, sharing your views, not a place of earning only.

Thanks

Hi, pkmoney,
I am glad to hear that after 4years and 6months of your membership here in bitcointalk you finally realized to change your mindset. However, upon checking your latest post(s), I was a bit disappointed to see some:

I have an account with 5000+ followers woth 95% audit score. Can you please offer your price per retweet?
Hope to have a good deal.
Thanks.

I love to join airdrop. Don't miss any of them. You know it's the best way to earn some free money without doing almost nothing.

Let us face the reality that most people are here to earn money; you can also admit it to yourself. We cannot help them by changing their mindsets, different people with dissimilar reason(s). I need knowledge to earn money, so earning is the core why we are here. We just need to shift things on how we will gain our earnings. Bitcoin is a decentralized technology, which is freedom. Spammers will just go away soon, because of "merit and rank up".

Nice to know you, mate. See you around.

Happy Pizza Day!

Why do I have a feeling that you’re one of those old members with no merit(s) but with so many activities and needs to create a new account to start things over again for merits? Anyway, I might be wrong, my friend. Members are looking for new topics to discuss and your topic is just one of those we read every day in this forum. Uniqueness is the new trend for merit system not the same old topic(s). Good effort though.
194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: May 19, 2018, 07:03:58 AM
I English is great and my topics are decent.
Hi, CryptAssist,

Welcome in!

It’s not just how great your English is, but the way you contribute to our bitcointalk community. Members need to understand your idea, beliefs, and viewpoints on a particular discussion you joined in. This forum is not a popularity club; if it is the basis then I won’t have my merits, because I am a newbie just like you. I do not want to talk about “how to get merit(s)”; I will let you take care of that; just do not pressure yourself. Relax.

196  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone please explain to me why some users become legendary rank ? on: May 18, 2018, 07:29:23 AM
a long time ago, merit system is easier than now. i saw everyone have 40 posts will get free 100 merit. Same on you, i've joined this forum about some months, and we didn't get any free merit. So we need to try to post or replies something useful for everyone in this forum then wait for luck Cheesy.
What?? The merit system was implemented on January 24, 2018, old members are given merits in correspond to their ranks minimum requirements. Luck will not help you get merits, your idea and your reasons why you joined bitcointalk will help you get it. To tell you the truth about ranks, it is not a big deal because I have seen “some” high ranks with low quality posts, and there are some newbies with high quality posts. If you wanted to join campaign(s) and bounties, you need ranks, but if you need knowledge, you earn merits. Your choice, your destiny, not luck.
