181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How I was scammed ...... on: February 05, 2016, 03:50:41 PM
You used to scam? Sorry I have no sympathy for you. As others have said, never allow someone to take control of your computer!
182  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-02-04] Polish Programmer Claims He Is Not Satoshi Nakamoto on: February 05, 2016, 03:43:38 PM
The name combination can't be a coincidence, can it? Amazing luck if it is.
183  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken Exchange Acquired Coinsetter & Cavirtex. on: January 29, 2016, 04:07:28 AM
Cavirtex was a Canadian exchange, I wonder what kind of regulations apply to that sale. No suprise they are exiting, Cavirtex fees were way too high and the volume was tiny.
184  Economy / Economics / Re: [CHART] Bitcoin Inflation vs. Time on: January 28, 2016, 04:14:35 PM
It is far from a meaningless metric.

The more transactions there are, the more exchange is there within the economy.
This is a fallacy. Transactions simply represent money moving between addresses. They do not represent money moving between people. And in particular they do not imply trades of bitcoins for goods or services. I can shift money back and forth between two addresses all day long and pump up the transaction count, but I wouldn't be doing anything for the Bitcoin economy.

Isn't it safe to say that most of the increase in transactions is not from people moving their coins to an address they already own? If not, please show data that proves me wrong.
185  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: January 28, 2016, 04:49:07 AM
I think gold will do just fine alongside bitcoin. Its not an either/or situation, gold has utility, like bitcoin, and is scarce and desirable.  A smart investor should have some of both in their portfolio.
186  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TabTrader - mobile trading terminal for all major exchanges on: January 28, 2016, 04:47:01 AM
I have one suggestion. Please improve the bid/ask depth chart. Its not very useful and needs to be in a graphical format that visualizes the bid and ask cumulatively.
187  Economy / Economics / Re: What happened to the flow of new topics here? on: January 28, 2016, 04:41:21 AM
all the endless fighting about block size is wasting time, resources, and slowing progress.

We are obligated to fight features.  Don't expect the small block militia to just give up and roll over, abandoning our diverse/diffuse/defensible/resilient network to the depredations of Hearn's bankster buddies.

It's not "wasting time" to defend Bitcoin from internal and external adversaries.  To the contrary, that's how we enhance our antifragility.

IOW, Bitcoin runs on drama.  Always has, always will.

If you get tired of it, try taking a nap or making a nice cup of tea.

Its a nice thought, that all of this stress-testing will lead to a better bitcoin. I hope you're right. Though it does seem like Hearn just gave up on his vision for what bitcoin should be and/or has been purchased.
188  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Operatr's : SCAMMERS Relinquish & Exit Survey : Senior, Heroe & Higher .002 BTC on: January 28, 2016, 04:36:34 AM
Asking scammers to be honest? Unpossible! Very nice post though. Maybe we can see inside the evil heart of a scammer.  Angry

190  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: January 27, 2016, 08:45:48 PM
How oil price can influence Bitcoin price?
Easy through electricity. Electricity will go down and price of mining will be little cheaper. Cheaper block will influence more hashrate! BTC price will increase!
My opinion.

Price will actually go down because more hashrate increases the supply with increase driving the price down.

the halving is there for this reason, to reduce the pressure from the miners, which with their margin i don't believe is very high, they ar enot selling 3600 coins per day

and it's the price that drive the diff up not the opposite

Yup.  The more hashrate is added to the network the faster the difficulty increases, leading to miners quitting, then the cycle repeats. The block chain rules regulate the rate of inflation constantly, so the price should never be effected by difficulty,  except in an irrational way.  Such price affects should be short-lived.

Maybe bitcoiners just aren't as excited about bitcoin as human nature turns it a bit sour. That's my sentiment atm.

Nonsense.  Every day Bitcoin survives is another day I get more excited about it.  Your sour "sentiment" is irrelevant to Honey Badger, thank God.

We don't need endless copypasta from Zerohedge duplicated here.  Just open a new tab, because it's not the same without Boris Alotovcrap (I love that guy).

I feel you. I'm not talking about the utility of bitcoin. But all the endless fighting about block size is wasting time, resources, and slowing progress.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Raspberry Pi 2 Node on: January 27, 2016, 03:55:18 PM
You would need a 128GB SD card now. The performance will be very poor, it's just on the margin of workable.  SD cards usually don't have good write endurance either.

I haven't run a full node in years so wasn't sure about the storage requirement. A USB 2.0 HDD would work as others have pointed out. Probably in the future we will have a faster Raspberry Pi with SATA ports and USB 3.0 for sure.
194  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cryptsy Lawsuit (class action, join the party if you want) on: January 27, 2016, 05:06:27 AM
How many operators have to flee with all the coins until the USG decides to ban bitcoins because of all the litigation surrounding BTC exchanges?
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Raspberry Pi 2 Node on: January 27, 2016, 05:04:06 AM
Is there any reason one could not run a full bitcoin node on a Raspberry Pi 2? I see these are very cheap now, just $37. Add a 32GB SD card and you have a fully functioning node right?
196  Economy / Economics / Re: US Debt Has Exploded on: January 27, 2016, 05:02:06 AM
US will bring whole world to knees when their bubble burst!
And i don't know if anything can be done to stop this madness..

Ofcourse every country have debt. Its not weird.
But now they have made it known, therefore there is now a fuss about.

All countries have debt, but the US is different because
1) Its sheer scale. If the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.
2) The US debt is denominated in its own currency - USD. So technically they can devalue their currency (print more dollars) and repay the debt.

Only as long as partner countries continue to participate in the ponzi scheme. Eventually they will be forced to withdraw.
197  Economy / Economics / Re: Stock market rigged on: January 27, 2016, 05:00:27 AM
Obviously it is rigged. Big put options on defense stocks and certain airlines were executed the week leading up to 9/11. I'm talking about a billion or more in trades.

199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How China's Plans to Launch Its Own Currency Might Affect Bitcoin on: January 26, 2016, 12:09:10 AM
I agree with Franky. If its not blockchain technology then its not threat whatsoever to bitcoin.

Amazing to see people putting that kind of money into ponzi schemes again. I guess people forgot all about Pirate@40 already.
