181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - SOON ON CRYPTSY - TRADE NOW? COINMARKET.IO on: February 04, 2014, 06:30:03 PM
Given the rise based on the cryptsy info, a large proportion of the "cryptsy effect" will now already be priced in, imho.

lol are you new here. I dont think so.. Yes the price might be correct right now but poeple have lot more BTC on cryptsy than any other market. So there is a lot more liquidity.
It will get pumped no matter what every coin has gone through it and then it will be dumped lol

Generally coins making it to cryptsy have only been traded in small volume before making on that exchange.  This coin has been doing in excess of 100btc a day for the past few days at least, 200 btc today.  That's more volume than many coins already trading on cryptsy.  Therefore I honestly believe that while there may be a pump when it hits cryptsy, I don't think it will be as exaggerated as it has been for other coins.

arbitrage opportunity would work a lot better if coinedup didn't take five minutes to load a page.  Seriously, how is it so garbage?

My honest opinion is that its either a long term view, or cut your losses scenario.   Services and actual reason to exist will be key, which is where I believe the devs are going with it.  Also, people are suffering from a bit of apathy given the high difficulty it is now stuck on thanks to the multipools.  Hopefully introduction of kimoto will keep them at bay and allow the coin to grow, or decline, naturally without the added complication of dealing with the destruction the multipools cause.

There were a lot of people buying in up to the 20's and I believe that if the coin develops a purpose, and some further interest, if kimoto keeps the locusts away and the block halving comes around again, then the price may slowly rise - though there is an awful lot of mined leaf out there, if we take an average of 100BTC volume traded per day, with a value of 20 satoshi (to be conservative), then there are 500M leaf per day being traded.

Up to the block halving there were 7,500M leaf mined.  so its going to take at least 15 days of trading that volume to work through the premined coins, and thats if every single trade involved mined coins only.  I would say maybe even 45 days before a good chunk of mined coins have been traded, maybe even longer.

There will be a lot of miners sat on several million just waiting to sell out, I would wait and see what happens upon the second or even third block halving before making any rushed decisions.

As soon as a coin becomes "profitable" by their calculations, they will switch, within a few minutes it will become less profitable due to the almost immediate difficulty increase.  They will then switch somewhere else and the same will happen.

Once the majority of coins implement the gravity well or quick difficulty increases, the pools will spend more time switching than mining.  Thats the theory anyway.

Its the same thing faced by a lot of alts, they are also implementing the gravity well or so it seems reading their threads.  New coins that are being released are having it built in from the start now.  Hopefully this will be the end of the multipools, and they will be stuck mining the old coins.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: February 04, 2014, 10:09:37 AM
The last two days haven't been fantastic payouts, about on par with straight LTC mining.  Hopefully the alt markets pick up a bit.

More coins starting to implement kimoto, so multipools are going to find it increasingly difficult to coin hop for profitability imho.

Its multipools and their incessant raping of all alt coins.

When the difficulty drops to 40, then it is a hugely profitable coin to mine.  So the multipools jump on, the hash rate goes very high, and blocks are found very quickly, with the bulk of the coins going to the pools.  They keep mining all the way through the 40 difficulty which takes no time given the hash rate.  Once it changes and goes to difficulty of 130/140, the pools dissapear as they cant find coins as quickly.

They can then dump a load of coins on the exchange, killing the value and leaving a high difficulty.

This the leaves everyone else behind on around 2MH/s working through the blocks - average time for a block goes to around 3 or 4 minutes because the multipools pushed up the difficulty.  Then when it comes back down, they join again and blocks are found about every 30 seconds.  Gravity well should be compulsory for all coins to kill off these morons.

why is there a "G" on the end of your LEAFCOIN.CONF ?  Its not LEAFCOIN.CONFG

Can you try another pc?  Just install the latest version of the wallet, let it update and then copy over your wallet.dat - see if that works?   If it does, then the issue must be on your current pc.

Hi all,

I have been mining at leaf.hash.so for several days and today i just realised when I compare in the estimation "coins/day" showed at the pool it is half of if i calculated manually with the "block_reward/(difficulty*2^32/hashs_per_sec/3600/24)" formula.
As comparison, i checked their SMC pool and the number showed right.

Anybody know if Is this an error in the web script or the pool actually take half of the coins earned ?

Thanks

https://leaf.hash.so/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

The pool has probably not updated their calculations to take into account the new block reward size.  One pool was using 0.75 the max reward value as a basis too, which should have been 0.5, this gave a false impression on the number of coins that could be mined.

What is the difference between kimoto and difficulty retarget evey block?  Aren't they just the same thing?

Looking at blocks found, diff hit 35 a few hours ago, multipoolds joined and we burned through the blocks in no time until next diff change.

I can't wait until all coins have gravity and kill off these mindless multipool drones.

Those that can, do.

Those that can't, teach.

I'll predict the future:

A bunch of people are going to pay around $80 to be told a tenth of the information and basic actions that they could learn about if they spent 10 minutes on Google, never mind actual trading forums.

They say there is one born every minute though.

By out in the open I meant mined, out from the total production well, ready to be traded at a moments notice.  Selling at anything above 3 satoshi would represent a profit against electricity costs to mine it, and as you say billions are out there.  Trying to call that market is like pi$$ing in the wind.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - NEXT BLOCK CHANGE APPROX 2014/02/12 on: February 03, 2014, 07:18:23 PM
Also, sell pressure is building and buy orders are stagnant. Looks like this bump is about over, unless the fake buy walls come back.

Set phasers between 10 - 12 if you're buying back in, but be prepared to sell between 15 - 19 afterward (20, if those fake buy walls show up again). Will give more detailed updates to those who PM me.

Didn't you say that a couple of hours ago, then a little later said buy pressure was building as it was getting support from traders, and now its sell pressure again.  Yet the price has remained fairly stagnant at 16-17 the whole time.

Its pretty easy to call a market 5 minutes after it happened.  Yet trying to call a market where the entire buy book consists of about 400m coins when there are people out there mining 10% of that a day, and previously 50% of that a day is practically impossible.

Trading, reading the candles and interpreting the order books is pretty simple.  Manipulating the price of these size order books too if you have the btc to do it, but the one factor these markets have which throws a big spanner into the works, is the mining.  The creation of "free" stock, that's a massive unknown quantity, and on a coin that's got so much of its production out in the open within a couple of weeks and has rapid block halving its an even greater unknown element.

Stick a bunch of btc on a value just north of the current sell price, one that's got a little bit of meat on it already, say a couple of btc.  Stick another 10 on it, watch the price make its way there, dump coins onto the now higher buy book and pull the sell order.  Rinse and repeat in reverse....   Is that the sort of lesson you are going to be giving?
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LEAF] LEAFCOIN - NEXT BLOCK CHANGE APPROX 2014/02/12 on: February 03, 2014, 03:45:59 PM
Why would a whale dump down to 5 satoshi, when they can drip feed into the market at 18-20 or higher.  Multipools have had enough to drop the buy orders by several points, but even they are manually trading this and taking their time.

All that is happening is coins being transferred into smaller holders that are either day trading, or holding very long term for a few more block halvings.

Anyone holding hundreds of millions will not want to kill the market that they want to sell into, so they will drip feed rather than dump.  Those dropping the price are the panic sellers dumping, probably to be scooped up by those with longer term aims.  As the blocks half and the coins get distributed among longer term holders, the early high volume coins will start to get traded around.

Really can't understand why everyone with some brain will waste time bashing some coins if it has no interest of them.  Huh

Plain stupid or actual interest ?

Actual interest.  There are some decent minds here with the ability to create all these games etc, and certainly the determination to have it succeed.  Though the reluctance to discuss any other matters other than the continual promotion of these games by a small select group of people is, in my view, detrimental to the wider public perception.  Im accused of bashing or fud, but there are no examples of this what so ever, just questioning and wanting to understand why various actions are undertaken.
