New WEBSITE is up - she's a beauty!! - - - - http://www.GetEarthCoin.com - - - - Bounty paid - all three wallet finals are up (mac/pc/linux - device wallets are coming) - lot's of progress - I haven't pulled this many all-nighters since college zzzz The site is looking very nice, but there are a bunch of improvements that can (and should) be made. 1) The very first sentence has a typo: "EarthCoin User a 365 Day Period" 2) The first cell on the page needs to be the prettiest and most attention grabbing. Currently it says a bunch of things on a poorly contrasting background about the block rewards. This is not what should go there. There should be a very pretty and simplistic background with a nice big picture of the coin next to some words saying something along the lines of: 'Earthcoin revolutionises the way we make day to day transactions. Using fast, secure and purely digital transactions you can make transactions with anyone in the world without having to worry about banks and borders.' The first cell needs to appeal to everyone, not just people that already know what crypto currencies are. 3) All the branding images take up a massive amount of space on the page and are useless to the average site viewer. These should all be moved to a separate page on the site, there is no need to put everything in one place. Besides those things, it's looking great and you guys should be proud of a project going really well. Good luck!

But can someone please confirm this is day 3 of Launch?
Yes this is day three. Day four will begin sometime around 5 hours from now.

There is no way that makes up a "large proportion of the premine". The Earthcoin account recently made a nice post about bounties but seemed to completely ignore the posts about setting up a public ledger of the premine coins. Earthcoin, is this not something you are willing to do? Apologies, it didn't go unnoticed, threw the comment at the team, discussing, will address when ready as it's sensitive and not something we'll just ignore forever nor address in one swoop. In short it's also exposing our bare ass re what strategies we take, who is involved for future moves, sensitive marketing moves, disclosing others ID who may wish to stay under the radar, maybe exchanges or sensitive relationships being out in the open for competitors to see, amounts for certain tasks... premine programme to last potentially more than a year or more so tons of audits with sensitive classified info all made public is probably not going to happen, but again that's just first reaction and few layers of thought pulled back, will discuss more. This is great to hear that you guys are at least discussing it. Setting something up so we can see which addresses hold the coins would be a great start, followed by a list of the various places they've been sent so far (bounties, giveaways etc with links to each). This would go a long way to showing the premine is good intentioned and will be used to further the life of the coin. I am under no illusions that development is something that can or should be done for free and am absolutely fine with the development team taking a cut for themselves when things start going well. It just really needs to be seen that you guys are using the cache of coins to increase the worth of the coin for everyone involved and invested. Please let us know anything further you guys decide on and here's to the long future of Earthcoin

It's pretty easy to make a premine transparent if you really want to do so. Don't shift coins around and post on your website a ledger of all the withdrawals/transfers with transaction ids and purpose (linking to giveaway threads for instance). You could dump most of that info out of the wallet so it would really only take an hour or two to setup. Once all your books were completely public I think most people would shut up about the premine and your coin would even be seen as setting a new standard in transparency and professionalism.
Actually you could do this in 5 minutes if you're worried about the effort. Click on the export transactions button in the wallet or wallets holding all the premined coins and post that CSV file along with links to the threads where you did giveaways or bounties. Put up a modest bounty for organizing this into a readable, semi-pretty form and you're done. This will give your coin an innovative feature (transparent premine) to set it apart from the rest. Even if the devs are planning on taking some of it later I don't think people would flip out as much if it were transparently done at a later date (so that people know that you have incentive to keep developing and not abandon the coin).
This sounds like one of the most sensible things said so far in this thread. Earthcoin, are you willing to do this?

Either there has been a flood of new members into the Alt coin section because of this coin or someone went on a serious account creation binge. Based on the interaction and attention I think it it is the former.
I personally have been a reader but not participant of the forums for weeks now... I missed some of the boat with DOGE, got in just before Crypsy and solo mined a few mil coins (which I converted to LTC)... that said I found its in my best interest to be attentive to all new coins and the market in general. I feel this coin has a better chance at success then DOGE (as I think others do as well) so you have a flood of new people participating in the discussion. At least that's my story. Personally, I've only really been involved in crypto currencies since Thanksgiving (there was a lot of media attention that got many new people like myself engaged)... As we go thru our learning curve of digesting information (as I have done over many late night hours), I now want to be part of the conversation. I'm starting to sound repetitive. Need more beer.... that will fix it. This is pretty similar to me. I only started mining altcoins about a week and a half ago and have been having a lot of fun trying to find the most efficient routes / gambling with the newer coins. This one has nice presentation which helped with adoption and since I was able to get in early I'm going to support it as it has the most potential for me. I'm even looking at setting up a dedicated mining rig soon since it seems like a fun hobby

Thanks for the update Keep the community informed of developments and things can progress nicely. I imagine a blockchain explorer should be the first goal from here, right?

I think this coin can actually do quite well if it doesn't make it onto Cryptsy for 2 - 4 weeks.
It'll give a chance for the mining to settle down into the 10,000 coin per block range and for people to get a decent idea of how difficult it actually is to mine.
It'll also give the developers a chance to sort out things like the linux + mac binaries, the block explorer and a few other important things to be worked on.

Already sent Deviant a PM to say a heartwarming thank you, however I'd like to do it here as well.
THANK YOU DEVIANT! (we're still trying to inspect/figure this out in more detail, however I do want to say thank you in advance for your efforts and time/desire to even give a crap to help). If this doesn't fix it - at least there is a starting point to compare from something that IS working perfectly.
Please don't mind the dev being overly cautious and simply not wanting any unforeseens or negatives to happen from messing with the code or patches etc.
I'm sorry if I painted the dev as 'perfect' in the OP - and or as having built the bestest alt ever - my fault. I simply wanted to point out that he's been down this road so there is at least some experience not a first run being reactive to everything vs proactive/knowing what to expect (including to expect the unexpected).
Really nice to see good hospitality by you guys, +1 bitcointalk for working together on this.
Back in a bit. I hope you sent deviant a thanks in the form of some EAC. Looks like even Deviant's pool is still getting the same thing though: Est. Avg. Time per Round (Pool) 2 minutes 46 seconds Est. Shares this Round 4773 (done: 874.67%) Time Since Last Block 30 minutes 35 seconds

Has there been any estimation on when that 13.5b would be reached? It seems like that would be a long way away.

I received mine also, thank you very much!

Will definitely be interesting to see where this coin goes after the launch, it seems quite popular! Taking donations here: ehX5dsyxcu1C3xLfeJorDRjt3TSgnXk1HG

It will be interesting to see how this coin is actually valued when it gets to an exchange. Has anyone been working on convincing an exchange to add it?
I'd say for the health of the coin it would actually be better if it doesn't reach an exchange for at least a week. That will give people a chance to see how hard it actually is to mine, instead of judging it by the x5, x3 and x2 launch days.

How much all coins? 10kk was premined omg
if its 0,1-2% its ok, if its 7+% its not profitable coin.
100,000,000 total coins. That means TEN PERCENT of the entire supply is already mined. That's hilarious. Will not bother with this, it will never even make it to an exchange

You cannot mine scrypt coins with v3.8.5 of cgminer, 3.7.2 is the last version to support it.
|
|
|
I think a big factor is that it has some nice graphics for the logo and the website and people like pretty things.
MisO69 I think you may have missed the fact that there was a 2% premine on Earthcoin. Hopefully the devs will use it to fund development of the various services like they've stated (and there's already a giveaway thread from the devs).

If there's no mining, how do people gain coins?
|
|
|
So what altcoins are the next big thing? :|
Of course this question is going to produce nothing more than everyone shilling for their own altcoin, but I would like to mention that it seems StableCoin is extremely unrecognized as it is. Its mixed transaction service will provide great, decentralized anonymity. Yeah I've been following StableCoin, DigitalCoin and WorldCoin as they all have some combination of: active devs, marketable name, innovation and publicity. Of those it seems WorldCoin is currently doing the best, but I'm really hoping one of the others will start to gain some traction and actually be used for purchasing goods and services.

For anyone that hasn't realised yet, we're now on Day 2 of the launch, so block rewards have dropped from 50,000 to 30,000.
