181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 19, 2020, 04:37:40 PM
Biggest hurdle in our country in setting up a mining farm is the last of your statement, environmental risk as our country has a limited supply of electricity and the price of electricity is very high. Like this, mining is not profitable at all as mining is using too much power to operate.

And because of it there are no or only few are strong enough to start their mining farm in our country.

Can you share which country is this?

I switched to nicehash, numbers are (unfortunatelly) same as before, no change at all  Sad

I have added screenshots showing max and min avg hashrate in 17 hours

Cool thank you very much.

Couldn't resist and installed it, average hashrate showes some suspicious high numbers, which are not likely true

will check it tomorrow if there is any difference in mining pool's hashrate

Can you share pools hash-rate, Man i hate to see these pictures when they look to good to be true  Grin
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 14, 2020, 11:50:13 AM
the biggest fear is price insta crash ehhe, nothing is more fearful than that, take eth for example, 1400 usd and few weeks later 80 usd, that is 18 times lower, not even superman can minimize the risk damage when that happens. If a coin crashes 2x okay, but 18x, that is death.

What usually sounds to good to be true, dont get into it.  this comes down to overpriced hardware and coins.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 14, 2020, 11:47:58 AM
Thank you for this.
Im starting a GPU mining farm, just because i got really cheap power. I have nearly 50kw available for only 0.037 cents a kw/h.
First 10kw are in with 70x RX5700 gpus

Some pointers if you're just starting out.

. For the cheapest CPU like G4400, 8 GPUs per system is fine and anything above it will start to cause issues.
. Go with a Linux distro & try to automate most of the stuff. Windows will definitely take a lot of time to maintain it.
. Make sure to clean your rigs from time to time. Dust is the major enemy for card damages compared to anything out there.
. Use Ethernet cables for the internet rather than WiFi as the latency will be less.
. If you're BIOS modding and the card does not have dual bios switch. Backup BIOS for each and every card before modding it.

Nice tips , just want to mention that my 12xgpu rigs with G3930 running absolutely fine.

Update for post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217592.msg53604759#msg53604759
Crypto is of the chain in last month or so. Im exiting what 2020 will bring to us, it should be a good year. Lot of governments and Banks are starting to recognize the innovation. they are starting to realize that if they not going to act as soon as possible they might be left behind.

So a month ago, who ever is following seen that i have made a research, to generate more Bitcoin in bull market. The idea basically was to spend 2btc on 10 altcoins, 0.2btc each altcoin. Usually in bull market altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin and this reaserch will prove if this is true. This is the post what top ten altcoins i have bought in 2020.

I could not make up mind for 1 year what would be the best time to buy ALTS. And man i have chosen some great time, i have gained +32% in BTC. So my total capital now after one month is 2.64BTC.

So far the Best performing Assets has been Ethereum, Cardano,Chainlink,Tezos. Where Tezos has been the best performing 100% gains in one month.

There has been only 2 coins worst performing then Bitcoin, Cosmos -1.94% and Synthetix 23.48%

Because of the Bitcoin was performing very well this month, if we look at the value of usd gain is nearly 70%. If i was using usd and purchased all these coin in one month from initial investment 16220$ my current holdings are 27440$ . This is 11220$ profit in 30 days. These numbers are crazy.

Lets see if this will last, im quite confident it will. Please guys think with your head don’t think with your emotions when trading. I know it is hard when you missed 20% upswing in one day. Rather stay out of the trade and wait for pullback. In 90% it will come down to retest this high spike, don’t chase shooting stars.

hi all

just found this strongu u6 firmware link from cryptominerbros.com, version is 1.8 while offical firmware is v1.7

https://www.cryptominerbros.com/strongu-u6-problems-and-solutions-strongu-u6-firmware/

can someone comfirm cryptominerbros.com is legit ?

regards

I wouldn't try to download something that claims to be official firmware but official firmware of strongu is older version. By looking at it looks like a scam.

Cheap power is the secret. You have very good rate to be here for long time.
I would mix it up with some aisic miners just to diversify. But your gpus seems one of the best for roi currently.

Doesn't the Sgtrongu miner have lots of problems.
I have seen people posting having issue, i have 2 of these in my farm and working fine. So hard to tell.
But Asic miners usually are a trouble, my biggest asic failure was antminer s17. Bought 5 miners and 4 of them hashing board died after one week.

I think hashrate can better if you test it on Cryptonight-GPU(RYO). Is it possible for you to check this card on Ryocurrency and share results?

LOL and again the RYO noob. The 16Gb RX 570 Card is for Grin mining, no one interesting the Cryptonight-GPU hashrate.
Yeah they are for Grin, but still one of the worst performance cards.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 10, 2020, 10:44:39 AM
There are more risks to mining at home as to say some dedicated warehouse. One of the issues that I was always worried about was burning the house down. It never happened but the amount of exploded capacitors, melted PCIe cables, melted SATA cables and exploding PSU made me very cautious.

Another issue I had was security, especially during late 2017 and early 2018. Back then most ETH mineable GPUs were going for maybe $500 each, and if someone saw that you got 100 of these in your place you could easily get robbed. Hence you had to do it stealth and with the huge heat and loud noise, it wasn't always easy.

The last was obviously the fear of massive difficulty jumps and massive price crashes, however even farms have to deal with this issue. And most GPUs will always hold some value so you won't lose everything, just will be a pain in the butt to sell like right now where there is a lack of demand for GPUs and gamers nickel and dime you constantely.
You really do think that gpus have resell value untill you need to sell them. It is easy to sell GPUs when profitability in high. But when profitability is very low, nobody wants to buy gpus. Same with buying the coin, you'll never know when will be the right time to buy and sell it. Same applies to hardware, newer buy hardware when you see the price has doubled.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 09, 2020, 07:30:22 PM
If it's a farm it usually means ASICs. ASICs are the biggest risk for several reasons,
including HW quality.

- limited flexibility, usually only one algo supported per device

Agree I would go for mixed farm . Asic are junk, and they come with so little warranty. Hashing boards die quite often. You loose mining hours by sending them to repair. Gpus are bulletproof , i have some RX 470 running for 3 years now no issues.

- short lifespan, ASIC miners become obsolete very fast with no secondary usage (unlike GPUs)

- there are a lot of unethical ASIC peddlers that sell crap, provide no support or are just scammers.

- International borders, most ASICS come from China exacerbating other issues.

- market volatility, 2018, need I say more.

A mixed farm (ASIC, GPU, CPU) would mitigate some of those risks.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 09, 2020, 07:27:45 PM
I think 6 to 7 cent power is meh.

I think 4 to 5 is a better hedge number.

I think home mining is next to dead 💀 but that if you want to mine at home 🏠 you can do so small scale.
Sorry I was thinking anything under 6-7 cents, otherwise you would get burned in bear market. Currently mining isn't that bad  profit on some Asics about 6 month for ROI, ofcource if nothing changes .
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What will be your biggest fears and risks to setup mining farm. on: February 09, 2020, 02:01:13 PM

Crypto currency mining is fascinating topic. It is 21st century mining with computer hardware and software. Looking for blocks on the block-chain to be rewarded in crypto currency. To start crypto currency mining business or hobby you have to understand what kind of risks you might face. To start Bitcoin mining you will need and ASIC miner, which is basically bunch of CPUs. This kind of equipment might cost you a lot of capital, so it is a good thing to recognize the risks you might face.

✔️In the early days in Bitcoin mining you could make some profit with your laptop CPU or GPU. These days are long gone, every year new more efficient hardware is been developed. Which makes older hardware obsolete for mining. Meaning that bad timing investment could potentially make your investment worthless.
✔️Hardware failure is very big thing to reduce mining risks. This hardware needs to be run 24/7 to gain the most optimal revenue from mining. Very often these devices/hardware do brake down, asic miners are the worse hardware comparing to GPU. Hashing board failure is common problem on them, which will need additional investment after 6 month from your purchase. If this would happen to your devices.
✔️The one of the hardest parts is not enough profits. Crypto currencies are extremely volatile, one day you could mine in profit the next day you might be at loss. If you are using latest hardware, most important to stay in the game and mine with profit. Is to have cheapest electric rate between all the other miners on network. Electric is everyone biggest OPEX cost, dont even think to start mining as a business large scale if your power costs is above 6-7c a kw/h. It might be profitable to mine with 20c per kw/h today but it might not be anymore tomorrow. Which means you will need to shutdown your mining farm.
✔️Legal risks . Crypto currency is still very new, and it has not been regulated very well. So you might face some kind of crypto currency ban in the country which might affect your mining operation.
✔️Hacking – Use crypto currency safe as possible. You know the good old saying not your keys not your coins. Don’t keep your mined coins on exchange. And use only community trusted mining pools.
✔️And the last of the top 6 is the environmental risk. Choose mining location wisely. Mining hardware most likely will use a lot of power, this is why they will produce a lot of heat. And heat will affect your mining operation. Something like mining container could be an option.
Recognize your risks before starting a mining operation.

Please comment down bellow with any more risks you might think it is worth to mention.

Yeah power usage lately of the latest ASIC miners have been crazy, also antminer S17 3000w . Only suitable for industrial.

We are back!

For the last 2 years there was not much to shill in mining mining was on the life support. And the profits constantly got decreasing. Start of 2020 Bitcoin and Altcoins are showing great performance in price action. This price action has also increased mining profits in some coins for more then 100% since december 2019. It might be to early to say that “we are back” , as crypto can be so unpredictable. But there is a lot of signs that we have now oversold a lot and value of crypto market is increasing steadily. We might see this pattern continue for good bit of times as BTC halving is coming up in 3 month. Let’s get in straight in. I will choose 3 hardware devices which in my opinion would be the best choice and we will see how profitable they are.

If you are new to mining and you want to know which devices to choose, choose from top market cap coins latest equipment. This will be your safest bet, as the mining profits are much more stable on bigger cap coins then on smaller cap coins. If you are small miner and don’t have large electric bills, you can choose smaller cap coins. They might go up in price lot faster then bigger cap coins in bull market, but be aware they they might dump lot faster. It is high risk high reward type of mining.

If you are really serious about mining, you need to look at cheapest power source possible which would be in 0.05c a kw/h range. It is not 2017 and mining from home wont be profitable at 0.30c a kw/h. Industrial power is possible to achieve 0.05 in many places in the world. If it is not possible in your country , look for the country where it is possible. So all profit calculations done for 0.05c a kw/h

Top mining profitability websites :

https://www.asicminervalue.com/ It is great website to see newest ASIC miners and their profitability. Usually the new upcoming mining machines gets listed here. So come and checkout this page every few days/weeks this page if you are serious about mining.

https://whattomine.com/
Is the best known for GPU/CPU mining profitability. You can choose what ever hardware to use and it will give you the best and most profitable coins to mine. It is very simple to use it. It does have Also asic miner profitability check, but for asics i do prefer asicminervalue, com

The top and 3 most profitable Crypto currencies to mine in February 2020 , for some people miner pick could be different. The prices changes if you are buying new/used , depending in which part of the world are you. This is my recommended , brand new purchase in Europe.

✔️ Bitcoin – Most suitable Antminer S17+ . It is one of the efficient Bitcoin miner currently publicly available, alternatives would be M20s miner and Avalon miner 1166. Antminer S17 efficiency is 73TH/s @ 3000watts . Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 7.82 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in 6-7month. It does seems great, but crypto doesn’t stand still. And has plenty of risks.

✔️ Ethereum – Best miner to use is RX5700 graphic cards mining rig. I know there is an ASIC miner available A10, but most of you who are in mining will agree with me, that it is complete junk. It is only slightly more efficient then RX5700 gpu rig in terms of price per hash and watt per hash . But it is 10x more riskier investment in mining rig then buying GPU mining rig. So the efficiency of 12xgpu RX5700 mining rig is 640 mh/s @ 1700watts. Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 7.62 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in about 20-22 month. Ethereum is one of the underdogs which could perform quite well in 2020 and might reduce your ROI much more faster.

✔️ DASH – Lately has been released most efficient DASH miner STU-U6. Asic miners are very risky investment, but sometimes they might be very profitable. The beauty of this miner is that it is quite new model and it is mining profitably DASH , even that DASH is still over 90%down from its all time highs. This miner performance is 420GH/s @2100 watts. Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 8.11 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in about 5-6 month.

These would be my to pick miners for start of 2020. There is big risks in any on these miners as no high reward investment is guaranteed anywhere. I’ll have more detailed explanation of the risks of each of these miners in my next post.

Any miner suggestion, what would be your best choice and why?

no, not yet. but i think soon. vnish (another developer) is already working on version for S17+ release mid february
As far as i know late march/april hiveos is releasing their firmware for S17+ . I seen few firmwares been advertised already 100TH/s at 4200 watts, but really dont know how legit are they. Will need to test them.

It's claims are so outrageous it's pretty obvious but better to be warned. Thanks.
Its the sad story of crypto, specially for new people. Have seen so obvious scams lately, but people still gets scammed by them , just cause of not information and their own stupidity.
Like those many scammers on youtube offering you to generate more crypto by sending some to their address, how obvious is that  Sad
But people is still falling for it.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to mine Ethereum. on: February 06, 2020, 09:52:42 AM
For how long are you willing to mine Ethereum? because very soon your mining rigs won't be able to mine Ethereum because of the upcoming upgrade called ETH 2.0, the only way to get Ethereum will be through Proof Of Staking algorithm

You are misinformed , ETH 2.0 will be in multiple phases and will take years to fully switch to POS. Most likely phase 0 will launch this July, which wont nearly affect POS where 60 blocks will be POS and 1 block POS. It means ethereum will be hybrid POW+POS. What developers thing it will take minimum 2 years to fully switch to POS

I also want to start mine ethereum, i don't know how to setup program for it. Which program to use?

Using HiveOS , easiest mining software to use .
installation guide here.

Does this software supports hardware monitoring , looking for some kind of automated solution.
We are in mining since 2015, and have used many king of mining software. This is one of the most advanced and has the most features in it. It is good for operating/monitoring your mining farm remotely. It has many great features auto reboots, temperature control, watchdog etc...
Only thing its free until 4 mining rigs after that you will need to pay 3usd a month for one mining rig.
