After Barwizi released the updated v2 nrs wallet I haven't had any connection issues.
smooth sailing from then on

How many peers do you have connected? Can you share their IP's ?
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares Encrypted Messaging✔, Lotto✔, Advanced Features ✔ Unique PoW✔ on: September 21, 2014, 01:02:19 AM
If you post your IP, I'll add it to my addnode in my config

So far these work:

addnode=8.38.76.74
addnode=207.245.41.195
addnode=54.186.239.68

We need to see more nodes. Anyone have a node list for Protocol version 60009 (v0.2.2.1-alpha)?

You guys are in for a real treat in the next couple days!

The doors are about to be blown WIDE open.

You're obviously privy to information that I'm not. So I can't comment on it. Sad

I'm just supporting what Barwizi is intending to do with the snapshot and going forth.  The snapshot makes sense to merge Noirbits and Noirshares into one, with a better wallet..
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares Encrypted Messaging✔, Lotto✔, Advanced Features ✔ Unique PoW✔ on: September 19, 2014, 03:17:59 PM
Thanks, it helps when you know there are reasonable people out there. I have zeroed in on a lot of problems and will likely push another update wallet tonight, so far none of the issues i have seen have required a hard fork, and it'll just be an update that fixes some of the errors.

Thanks for your support and i will keep you all updated on my progress.

There's plenty of us that admire what you've done and what you are still capable of doing.

+1 Barwizi

One more person like you and i will quit this project here and now.

it is ALPHA  for a reason

I am tired, this is starting to get ridiculous.

Barwizi, you're under a lot of stress and pressure development wise.  Don't go in circles with any one during this sensitive period. It's not worth it.

People knew they were investing in something yet-to-be-created. Something unproven. It may not work as planned. They have absolutely NO RIGHT whatsoever to demand things of an experimental technology.  They don't.

When I learned of the GF fund, I purposely did not invest, because I knew what it represented.  It was not definitive about what was going to happen and my investments were scarce enough that I didn't want to blindly take the plunge on a hope and a prayer.

Well some GF investors did exactly that, they simply got excited and threw their money into the pot hoping that while everyone else was doing it, it might yield something.

Now listen how stupid they sound, I quote:

We wait, we wait, we wait. We are still waiting. How long? A day? A week? A month? A year? At least you could have done something to compensate for the long waiting.

Long waiting?  Are you kidding me? NRS was announced around Feb 2014. It is still in its first year of development.  Most new businesses lose money the first year or two of start up.

Want to know why you're waiting even longer?  It's the tragedy of the commons problem (wikipedia)

Quote
Tragedy of the commons: It refers to individual behavior based on one's self-interest being contrary to the whole group's long-term best interests by depleting common resources

Here the common resources is Barwizi's energy, devotion, time to produce and develop things that can yield profits to all of the backers of NRS 2.0 and it's entire future.

Quite simply, barwizi spends more time going in circles with people in the forums than he does keeping his mind straight while coding, so everything takes longer.

So the very people demanding answers, are the very people that have actually caused Barwizi to threaten abandoning the project. How stupid is that?  BACK OFF and let him do his thing!  He's right in the middle of hard work.

If you would all just back right off, he'll get it done.   Give him the benefit of the doubt just awhile longer.

Note to barwizi, while we all love hearing from you directly, you are not the person that needs to go around in circles here with this stuff. Appoint a public relations person, and leave that type of circular debating to someone else.  You cannot burn the candle at both ends. It will lead to unneeded frustration and detract from development which you are really needed to focus on here.

These GF holders and other NRS investors have no idea that instead of seeing the yields and corrections they want, they are actually the exact same people that might be hurting their own investment, maybe even permanently by doing this..

Barwizi is fully aware of the issues. That's all you have to do is simply this:

1) On the forum, explain your issue, barwizi and other officers will read it, and take it into account

LEAVE BARWIZI ALONE TO HELP FINISH DEVELOPMENT (he's in alpha for crying out loud. There's plenty to work on)

He's already stated that he has full intentions on doing things that should be suitable to some of the complaints received here. But very few of him are giving him opportunities to address things while he's in alpha

The faster you all give him time to get NRS 2.0 operating properly, is the more chance you have of seeing this curve in your favor.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares Merged with NoirBits [NRB] on: September 19, 2014, 04:40:00 AM
It sounds like you are looking for some sort of guarantee.

It seems as if you want to be sure every investor will be contacted personally, in their own language, fully explained everything, and given enough time for them to decide what they want to do on an individual basis.

Sorry, life doesn't work that way.

NRS puts out its public information (in english, as always). People bought their shares at their own risk knowing that fact.

If the Chinese community wants their information in Chinese, they can find the best translator that they trust to put up their own website, or create their own forum and talk about it there if they want.

This could be a good opportunity for a Chinese/English speaking person to get a website going (with advertisements, etc) and at the same time, providing a service to the chinese speaking community.

What if some person spoke Eskimo and is complaining they didn't know about the snapshot? Are we saying that all information should be sent to the North Pole for Eskimos too, because one person complained that when they bought NRS they didn't know the announcements wouldn't also be translated to Eskimo?

I know the Chinese community is much bigger than Eskimos.  But that only reinforces the idea that maybe a Chinese person could volunteer or even charge for their service to send out a private chinese announcement newsletter to subscribers.

This is where the community can get involved.  Barwizi is the developer of the technology. How people decide to invest their money is their risk.  There are no guarantees of anything.

(If someone has a guarantee, please show one that says all announcements will be sent in Chinese. I did not see one)

If this problem isn't solved. People will always attack NRS on this issue

People will always find reasons to attack NRS.  People will always find reasons to attack Bitcoin, Litecoin, Peercoin, and any other coin.  This is the normal thing to do:

Quote
1A. Invest in something

2A. Something happens that you do not like, and you lose money for any reason

3A. Attack the coin

What people do not realize is that it should work like this instead:

Quote
1B. Learn about what you are about to invest in

2B. Expect to lose your money, but also a chance to earn a profit too

3B. If something happens that you do not like, LEARN FROM IT

4B. After learning in step 3, try again and go back to step 1. You will have a greater chance of success.

But instead, we have hundreds of trolls on bitcointalk that like to blame everyone but themselves and are stuck at 3A instead, which wastes time. They learn nothing, and just complain, complain, complain.   These people will always get tricked out of their money because they cannot see their own mistakes.  They blame everyone but themselves.

You said it yourself:

Quote
not all investors spend their days on the forum when forum keeps changing its thread with bunch of trolls saying "NRS is a scam."

Yes, I know. It wasn't fun to read, and I had to spend a lot of time passing by those troll posts.  But you know what? The time I spent doing that rewarded me with knowing the snapshot was going to occur.  So I did not lose my investment.

You, or people you know said "not all their says spend their days on the forum" because they did not like seeing the NRS scam posts.  Well they had two choices:

1) get out of the investment

2) Find someone else who can read the forum to protect their investment.

OH, I see, you did this one:

3) Wait until something happens and complain "hey! I don't want to spend their days reading the forum. I believe the dev will figure this out very well."

Well..  The dev is not your babysitter.  Sorry to be so rude. But people really need to start hearing the truth at this point.

NO ONE is going to hold your hand in your investments.  It is 100% your choice to either BUY or SELL.

188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares Merged with NoirBits [NRB] on: September 19, 2014, 01:26:49 AM

Even one year from now, someone is going to wake up and go "hey! I forgot I had NRS. What about me?"

This will go on and on..  It doesn't matter how hard you try, there will always be people not up to speed.  This last person said they don't understand english very well and that is why they missed the snapshot.

If this is the case, then you should be careful investing in cryptocurrency that does not have a good forum or chat in your own language. At the very minimum get an interpreter to help you keep current with the developments. This is due diligence and your responsibility as an investor.

This same machine has built the original NoirSharesd, so I am assuming yes.

Is there a new dependency for this tree?

The link to the NoirShares 2.0 in your Announcement post, points the source link here:

Shouldn't it be here:

I don't use github, so I have to use the forums.

Also, I tried building the Franken-code-lotto-voting tree on Ubuntu (precise) and received this:

I strongly object to punish LemonandFries and Koontas by taking away their share without paying them back their share in BTC. In fact, you know their bitcoinaddresses, because they had to give them earlier, so I would rather like you to return it to them, with or without their consent and it would be best if you posted the transaction ID here, so you will be able to show that you indeed did give them back their shares equivalent. I cannot accept to have more shares as a GF holder because they are punished. I am not sure they did that to discredit you or NRS, I think they were really concerned and trying to warn others.

Interesting precedence to set.

You can invest in something at a certain market value of BTC.  After you decide your not happy with your investment, run around making a spectacle of yourself basically saying the sky is falling, and then demand a full refund for your investment.

This creates ZERO risk to the investor.  All they have to do is behave like a 4 year old in public and they get their money back?

Going forward a protocol will need to be designed and voted into place to handle these types of issues.

How about their percentage gets frozen, re-distributed to some sort of promotion and marketing fund that is ongoing..

AND..

All GF shares are decreased by an equivalent amount to "pay off" those two investors?

Voting through this entire ordeal before it takes place.

This way:

1) Koontas and Lemon Fries get sent out of the General Fund

2) The entire General Fund bear the burden of this occurring equally

3) It sets a precedence that when one GF member gets ants in their pants and wants to flee for the hills, they are hurting other innocent investors on an equal basis.  If you want to freak out and abandon your investment early, affecting others, you devalue the project as a whole.  You now have that to bear on your mind.

Either way, setting a simple precedence that BTC is handed back by whoever cries the loudest isn't a good way of going forward.

192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Noirbits [NRB] to be merged with Noirshares [NRS] | Snapshot on 9/9/14 on: September 10, 2014, 11:12:01 PM
That's bad that someone still dump the coin on the exchange.

I don't think it's a good idea to do the snapshot before the exchange close the trade.

We made sure the exchanges knew, i personally made contact with them and none of them responded. This situation is undesirable, and i think we could have done better.

I fully disagree with both of these sentiments for the following reasons:

1. It is up to an investor to keep current on the progress of their investment on a daily basis. If they don't have time, then they should appoint someone (friend, family, colleague, etc) else to look after it for them.

2. Keeping up to date on the forums, acting on public announcements, and making moves in the market in order gain advantages on people who let their investment twist in the wind is fair play.

3. It doesn't matter what you do, there will always be complainers, people who call foul, etc. People who have not seen the yields they wanted will end up trolling and making demands "because it makes them feel better."  Ignore these types of people. Rather than put their time and effort into something positive, they end up wasting time on negative behavior and comments. Don't let them drag you down with them.

4. Encouraging people to follow the lively progress of NRS or other crypto-investments on a regular basis encourages feedback, volunteer help, spreading the word, promotion, etc.  We want people to have their attention on these forum threads so they can "protect their investment", and help build the community.

5. If you are too busy to follow the progress of NRS, or you are on vacation and you miss the boat, well then sorry to say, you missed the boat.  Pull out of the market when life is busy if you can't keep up to date on your investments.  Stop laying blame on other people.  This is a free market. You are able to participate at your own risk and peril.

For these reasons I think the snapshot was indeed fair, it was announced publically, and people had time to comment and participate. Enough already.

I'd also like to thank Barwizi for not allowing the forum noise to sway his programming and development, and doing what he thinks is right for NRS. Please keep this up.

I've been following NRS for a long time, and I rarely post. I'm one of the silent majority that supports NRS and I check on these forums a minimum of 4 or 5 times a week. That's being a responsible investor taking care of my assets. It's not rocket science.

If any trolls and complainers which to pull me into some sort of debate, I'll refrain from responding because it would be a waste of time. I've said my piece, and hope the right people glean the importance of what I've said.

Thank you to all of you who continue to support NRS 2.0.  As a person who has programmed and developed myself in the past, I fully am aware of the challenges Barwizi is up against, and to date, I'm quite happy with his progress.  Keep up the good work.

We will be here to assist in anyway we can, but the issue needs to be replicatable for us to be of any help.

Get them to send you their linux binary.  <---- very important

If you can't run it due to shared libraries missing, it will tell you what library versions it wants so you can duplicate the same environment.

Then repeat the rpc commands using their binary on your wallet.  It should break the same way, and then you can witness what they are telling you.

Once that happens, you can re-build your own wallet using those same exact library versions and see if it crashes using your binary.  If it does, then you have source code now to troubleshoot the problem.

If anyone has programming skills in C++ and wants to volunteer to be a DEV, you don't need a bounty.

Just buy a crap load of cheap KDC from any exchange, and then volunteer your services.

Anyone that believes in the future of klondikecoin can buy cheap coins, build products and services and watch the coin value increase.

So buy some cheap KDC and build something! Smiley

Remember, the mining block reward is only 16 KDC, so buying KDC now at these prices is amazing.

I have been talking with bittrex and we are both on the same block count as the explorer.

CryptoALTeX is using the following nodes.

addnode=142.54.179.178
addnode=23.88.228.99
addnode=198.98.120.30
addnode=98.249.224.129
addnode=77.231.228.69
addnode=90.244.121.120
addnode=37.187.134.164
addnode=210.195.45.22
addnode=218.244.148.189

The first 3 nodes alone only had gotten us to 15475 blocks or something similar.

Has anyone on the same block count as the explorer had any issues?  If not I believe we may turn trading back on.

Thoughts?

Those nodes are good, and I'm also synced with the block explorer.   As long as you are synced with the block explorer that is the correct chain.

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SCRYPT] KlondikeCoin ★ Cryptsy.com ★ Prepaid VISA Cards ★ 0% Premine [KDC] on: March 28, 2014, 08:21:31 PM
Miners work (provide hashrate) for a paycheck (BTC, Fiat, whocares).  No miners no hash, no hash no coin.

But its too easy to bash the for profit miner.  We are about to see what happens when the for profits bow out.

A coin that can't weather SELL orders at the BID is a coin that can not survive!!

I love the fact that jackdminer is upset it isn't worthwhile for him to mine KDC to dump it on the exchanges.

This is excellent news!! Woot!

The rest of us are mining because we believe in the final price of the coin.

If jackdminer was around when Bitcoin was trading at 25 cents, perhaps he would have complained it wasn't high enough for him to mine either.

If jackdminer has short-sighted problems on a coin's long-term future, that's his problem.

Go mine and dump someone else's coin jack. That's right KDC isn't your ticket for a paycheck anymore. Bye Bye
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 26, 2014, 04:42:35 AM
Wow, lot of negativity on here, yet no suggestions of a better way of executing an airdrop.

Here's some ideas..........

How about a longer [PRE-ANN] about the new coin to let people become aware of your intentions and debate the best way of rolling out out?

Why did it have to launch so fast?   Why did the block awards have to be that large?  Why did the coin have to be forked?

How about giving longer than <2 months to attract developers, businesses, pools, exchanges, games, etc to get ready for this coin?

How about having your forums populated, a complete announce list?

There is plenty that could have been done.  Two months to convert an entire country over to some cryptocurrency?  It boggles my mind that anybody thought it could have been possible.....

People need to think for a change and get out of their trance of chasing every new flashy coin that is released without asking questions first. If people lose money on auroracoin it is their own stupidity.  This hasn't played out by far yet.......

It will probably take at least another 3 to 6 months before auroracoin has the same following as Netcoin [NET] or Sexcoin [SXC]

If somebody wants to release a coin for Iceland and do it properly, then start planning now, get a team together, and have it ready for 2015.  THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SCRYPT] KlondikeCoin ★ Cryptsy.com ★ Prepaid VISA Cards ★ 0% Premine [KDC] on: March 26, 2014, 04:34:38 AM
why the price is lower after it hit cryptsy?

Because some people have Cryptsy bots and not Poloniex bots.

Those bots constantly buy coin for cheap and then re-dump it every time somebody places a new buy order.

Listing it on Cryptsy before more products and services that took KDC were out was a really dumb idea

Don't let it discourage you.  This is the bottom for KDC. As soon as more people get KDC working in the same places that DOGE works, you see this coin rise.

Here's a question. Why does satoshibet.com take BTC, LTC, and DOGE  but they don't take KDC?

Klondikecoin and the gold rush with gambling go hand in hand
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 25, 2014, 11:11:38 PM

If it's true that most claims are not fraudulent then AuroraCoin is already a HUGE SUCCESS.

LoL.
Whatever pills you take. Please take less. I am worried!

Is anyone else munching on popcorn while we watch this implode?

Coin's creation to airdrop, less than 2 months with no economy built. This will never work.

Bagholders be ready.
200  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: COINMARKETCAP.COM IS FLAWED, and shouldn't be used as solid investment advice. on: March 22, 2014, 09:59:19 AM
good point, but of more important to me is that the site shows just how stupid an increase of alt coins there has been, which essentially makes them all worthless in my eyes, and makes me focus solely on bitcoin, which I think is also overvalued thus I'm not interested or investing in any crypto at this point.

Nearing 200 altcoins... I just don't care about any of them.

In my opinion, Bitcoin isn't overvalued. Regardless of the hurdles it has needed to overcome, BTC should be over $1,000 a coin realistically.

That's going to come in time over the next weeks or months. The real problem on our hands is coinmarketcap.com - a website that is unchallenged, that is constantly referenced every single day, as an authoritative reference of information.

RARE coins, that hold significant value, with a solid block chain, like Peercoin, fall down the list of coinmarketcap.com which is unfair, is not a real reporting of the industry, and needs to be addressed by them.

We'll see what happens.
