181  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reason people are so adamant to invest in Bitcoin on: June 08, 2024, 02:34:50 PM
As we know bitcoin is the fastest growing digital currency outside from other altcoin we know today, most times I have come to reason why most people don't like invest into a bitcoin like to utilize the opportunity as it's still minor and accumulates enough.

Here are some of my findings; you know with the
condition of our country is going it's very hard to understand that bitcoin is not just a digital currency but as a store of value and people doesn't necessarily utilize the usefulness of it creations instead lot of people are using it for immoral activity such as scamming purposes.

I could sight an example of mother whose child is into Bitcoin investment and during maturity the son happened to have sold his bitcoin to fiat after which he took some percent of the money to the mother and brother who are yet to open their eyes about latest development turn it all round for him that he is a fraudster how could he distance home for the duration of 2 to 4 years and came back home with a changing lifestyle, that he is trying to hide his evil activity that he is a scammer and the money was rejected.

To me, to impact people around us maybe our relatives or parents we can call them to order and give them basic knowledge about how the technology is being handled or how it works over times to enable them feels free to join the world changing technology.

Most people has used the word bitcoin in a way whenever they heard it the next thing that quickly comes into their mind is frauds, and this point investment is very hard. There are lots of sites that says invest such amount and received x amount in return all as a ponzi scheme and when they fails it gives bad name to bitcoin because some of those sites only accept bitcoin as a payment method, so even though you go with a genuine intention to tell them the real world about bitcoin they already feels exhausted and hated the word Bitcoin at this point pulling out their heart earned money to invest in bitcoin is like sinking their money into a none fruitful site again with their past experience.
That's exactly what happened to me and to an extent, I just gladly accepted the name and graceful snubbed and avoided any explanation of me being a Bitcoin investor rather I just go with the term already tagged on me which is a "Bitcoin scammer" and I believe it's kind of also sooting to know that you don't fucking owe anyone an explanation and even saves you from any unnecessary bills and money request because to an extent some of the people am supposed to give money to actually avoided me like am some kind of scammer whose source of income is illegal and this is exactly what poor mentality can do if you are open minded
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 08, 2024, 12:25:45 PM
I don't know why people are so fascinated with teams that come from so-called "big" countries and always think that they have to make big results regardless of the fact that there are other teams that are much better than them? The English are always arrogant and convinced that they are the best, but then they are beaten by a small Iceland in their home stadium - that kind of defeat must hurt a lot.

Some still remember how the Croats taught them a lesson in 2007 and defeated them at Wembley - bad then, bad even today - Modric played then, he still plays today Wink

England 2-3 Croatia [21-11-2007]

I think it is reasonable for people who fascinated with team that come from big countries, because we know that in this called "big" countries have their own great and famous players, and have more experiences. So it is the reason why people so fascinated, almost every people will give any support for idol player.

For example, if i choose Cristiano Ronaldo as my idol player, i will give all my support for him, not only for his club but also for his national team as he is still playing for his team. I don't really care if his team get a lost, i will keep my support for him and always want to see his struggle.
Well that's football for you it's not only that england are being pumpose of themselves because they have player or something else, I believe it's just normal for a player or fans to support their team even if the team isn't up to standard or class because in football anything can happen and before a team or the fans show pride alot then it means that they actually have a edge in seeing that they can win the game .
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling bad to the society? on: June 08, 2024, 11:19:57 AM
...
So what I'm trying to conclude is that gambling isn't something you should take as a hobby or as a means of earning just to make a living. So what are your thoughts?
I can agree with your take on this subject of gambling being bad to the society, but upon careful consideration, gambling has been a source of income for a country like Brazil of which collects some amount of tax from winnings of gamblers. It was about 15% as at the last time I learnt of this, and surely it has helped their countries GDP in so many ways, including discouraging gamblers from gambling excessively.
Hmm, that's something new, it never crossed my mind to even reason to the direction you are heading because the only view at which most persons look at gambling is based on the aspect of two effects which are either gambling causes addiction or it could be enjoyed as a form of entertaining where by the first is the most viral view in which gambling is seen. But looking at what you said, I think I will check out myself and be certain of this opinion.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the role of home/away matches? on: June 07, 2024, 10:30:48 PM
If you are involved in sports betting on team games such as football, then before you place a bet, you probably conduct a comprehensive analysis and evaluate the various factors that may contribute to the victory or defeat of your chosen team. One of the main factors in this analysis is home or away matches. Depending on where the team plays - at home or away, the probability of winning or losing can change by a certain amount. What do you think is the role of home/away matches? If this probability were expressed in numbers, what would it look like? Is playing at home or away a major factor for analysis or a secondary one?
I once came across the opinion of one analyst who considered this to be the main factor in predicting the outcome of a match. He considered everything else to be secondary. What do you think?
The home/away is generally called home advantage and it is a very significant factor in soccer. It is like when someone comes to fight you in your house, there is this level of confidence and moral justification you will have to beat up the person in order to save your reputation. Teams playing at home enjoys this confidence, huge support from their fans and in most leagues, the officiation tends to be in favour of the home team. There are several leagues in which the home team mostly win the match, and this could also be linked to how advanced or serious the league is.

However, there are some teams that do not really care about the home advantage. For example, teams like Manchester City,  Real Madrid, Bayern Munic, PSG and others do not really care if their opponents are at home, the win anywhere.

I don't know why you are specific on the teams that do not regard the home advantage because every team do like to win it's just that they are not strong enough or their opponent is far better because even the so called big teams sometimes do play and win games themselves under the home ground advantage.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: Worldcup qualifiers - CAF. on: June 07, 2024, 10:04:42 PM
The match is ongoing and South Africa is on the lead with 1-0. T. Zwane score the only goal in the match currently on the 29th minutes of the first half. Nigeria are gaining possession of the ball, but the South Africans are just waiting for any opportunity that they will create in order to score again.

It will be lovely if Nigeria can equalize this goal in the first half so that they will not play with much pressure in the second half. I don't like the view of the match...

Nigeria 0-1 S.Africa

At the end it all settled one a piece (1-1). And Nigeria did very well to get the comeback. The African world cup qualifiers matches today all had quite a good number of goals which for some time now has been the era with African football because goal scoring was actually some sort of problem for their games. The Algeria game that they lost was a shock to me because they lost to a very big odd of which I even played them to win and they were defeated by guinea.
186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you feel excited while gambling on: June 07, 2024, 10:03:04 PM
Gambling always has its way of bringing thrill and seriousness to a simple game, an ordinary card game could get people so emotional the moment money gets wagerd, buy it depends on the kind of activity im gambling in, if its a casino game or sports Betting im not excited till I win the ticket but if its a more physical kind of Betting like card game or maybe a football competition or tennis then I'll sure be excited.
gambling is precisely the source of this feeling and it is worth recognizing this attractive excitement since no one knows what the end result will be; it is even somewhat similar to adrenaline.I think addiction appears precisely from the thirst for this feeling and the desire to win.
I don't know for other gamblers but the feeling of excitement is only felt when I experience that winning feeling and that's also even when the money is a small amount, the feeling to predict something and actually the results turns out to be so is quite rushing if you can me but so also is that devilish feeling of losing but what is certain is that you will always get the drive to continue if the whole feeling is about winning and winning.
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Season on: June 07, 2024, 07:10:14 PM
For Real Madrid to have that amount of champions league which is considered to be the most difficult competition in Europe, it show that they are the most successful team in Europe and considering their squad next season, most football analysts have already predicted that Real Madrid would once again win the champions league. Having Mbappe in the team is a great opportunity for them to do better than the just concluded season. Don't quote me wrong, they played outstandingly well last season but I believe they'll do better next season in terms of goals and possession. Real Madrid has always been Mbappe's dream club and it's obvious he is happy about his signings.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: June 07, 2024, 04:05:35 PM
Certainly casinos will always hope their customers loses their bet in order for them to make more profit, and if you ask why they gift out jackpot to some lucky customers, the answer is simply because that is among the advertisement strategy they are using to draw more gamblers into using their service. And with the hope of hitting the jackpot more gamblers would want to have experience with the casino or gambling platforms. And that's how they shift their interest from one casino to the other, but the major fact still remains that, the house would always be the winner when it comes profit or loss. There are several casinos that have enough traffic upto thousands of user placing their bet on a single casino game that last for only some seconds.
189  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: June 07, 2024, 02:00:13 PM
I don't know if there's something rules related to that. But as far as I know that children's can't inherit the debt of their father.

Maybe those people which have borrowed money from the deceased person will told that since they are desperate to get their money back. But the lender can't really push their children to pay what their father owe to other people. But you have a point that if they inherit a lot of wealth from their father and that loan amount is not big which can lead to run out of wealth then they could pay it just to clear up the name of their father. That's why its important to know our priorities so that we will not follow what those addicted father done to their child since it really bring huge shame to them if someone will come to them and ask to repay the debt of their father due to their gambling activities done when they are alive.

I totally agree with you mate. Children are not to be held for debts owed by their parents except there were use as shorty or guarantor to get access to the loan. You can pay back for someone out of generousity but when it comes legal arrest or ability to Sue someone  for money owed by another person without any involvement of  contract or signed deal. It's illegal to request payment from such instances. However we shouldn't do anything that might implicate someone else in the first place, so it's better to quit addiction or borrowing money without a secured source to payback. And I also advise we decline requests to stand as a guarantor to loan by others, because it's the only way to escape being guilty of any legal involvement with the loan.
190  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How can I identify a scammer using Bitcoin or crypto to scammer people on: June 06, 2024, 10:36:05 PM
Because of the increase in the financial leverage of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency a lot of fraudster are budding under the umbrella of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to scammer people especially those who are not much grounded and knowledgeable of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency like me. Instance, some fraudster will send you a link through WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media telling you to click the link to register for cryptocurrency and Bitcoin with hope of making much money from the link but immediately you click the link they will access to all your information and then use hack your account and be using it for their fraudulence activities or better still scammer the you.
So if I may ask, how can we identify this kind of fraudsters?
Well you can start by knowing that nothing ever comes very easy so immediately you see the proposal you can verify for certain that it's not real and it's a total fake. I have seen many people tell me or even share me links to join different channels but I have always had this thought about clicking of random links as many fishing things could be encoder in that supposed link so before I try anything I first of all check if the link is verified or the service it's renderings is something can be relatable.
191  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Cryptocurrency a renew hope for Nigeria youth on: June 06, 2024, 10:29:44 PM
Sometime I wonder what would have be the fate of Nigeria youth without Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Nigeria government has totally fail the youth in terms employment and social amenities that will boast development in the country making a lot of regret for being a Nigerian as result of unemployment and poverty across the nation. However, the introduction of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency now seen to be the only means of surviving for many Nigeria youth and it help in poverty eradication and suffering in the country but I wonder why the government are so blind to see the positive impact of Blockchain in socia-econmic development of the country.

OP, to be sincere cryptocurrency more expecially Bitcoin has done more good for the youths to be precise, many youths in this country started having Interest in tech because the opportunity Bitcoin has created, I just use my safe as an example, although I know about crypto and Bitcoin before now but I was not into it fully but with help of someone i hold in high esteem here that intorduced me to this forum i picked interest in cryptocurrency generally, i now undeestand that if we carefully research very well about cryptocurrency and stay updated with every coming events in the investemnt, the benefit is so enormous, currently many youth has grown in crypto to the extent that they no longer buy only bitcoin, they have spread their tentacles in buying other promising coins too which may have profited them in this period that we ecpeeienced Bitcoin pump.

The employment aspect, it is the uninformed youths that are still looking for government jobs, many of us has moved beyond that because of the information we got about this digital asset, this information has really been helpful to many of us, the government are not blind as you think, they know what they are doing, they were afraid because of how money was leaving our trafitional banks, indivuduals were withdrawing to invest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general that was their fear, talking about blochnain technology, our government is not willing to adopt such a decentralized and transparent system thats capable of depriving them the opportunity to loot funds, they already know this and that's why they can't allow such technology to exist here.

Boss, you have said it all, and I respect you for this, I just hope everyone will think outside of the box when it comes to the issue of this country and what we term as a "bright future" because the world is going in different direction and anyone who is going in the opposite direction is just trying to swim against the current.

I just hope and pray that people who have this same mindset as you get to the place of Leadership and not these old 1960-1970 folks that still hold olden days views and trying to rule this digital world with it.

Thanks once again boss

The thing be say some of these guys actually know about all these revelations about Bitcoin and the advantages it posses bit it's just the bad eggs are more than the good ones and that's why they cover the little that posses such mind, I remember vividly wen one woman for one of these national assembly houses actually stood up and defended and back up Bitcoin as a claim that has done more good than harm but she was ignored for almost everything she stood for but still yet the truth said will never go unrecoded.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can someone take gambling as a source of income to he/she life? on: June 06, 2024, 10:25:22 PM
I was gambling today online since their is strike no work, so decided to take all my day to place a bet and this thought comes to my mind. That is it how the jobless men do gamble all day with the little money they've, because this is insane to me but to those people who gamble as the means of their income it's terrible. I rememberd a friend of mine back in the days in school all he does was to gamble all day not going to class, and the gambling favors him alot any time he comes to the hostels he do comes back with a big bag of foods. But that was back then his parents was sending him money, but right now with the economy situation in some countries someone will haven a little money meanwhile he/she have gone alot stress to get the money and he/she will tries to increase the money by gambling. Everyday he/she continues like this hmmm it's bad.

I said let me express my feelings towards this to forum gambling discussion, if their are people who are living in this kind of lifestyle. And what will be your opinion towards the people living in this kind of lifestyle everyday of their life's?
Gambling consistently to increase your profits or using as something to always get profits is going to do you nothing than harm instead of good and that's why it not advisable to even try such habits because you would be surprised how fast this kind of habit can get stuck in your mentality. One thing about gambling that really amazes me, it's how people tend to be quickly lost in the act because I know very well that the habit is something that will get stuck in your thoughts if you continue to take as a means of earning plus it's also time consuming when you are chasing those wins.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 06, 2024, 10:12:04 PM
Kevin De Bruyne has always had a place of honor at Manchester City, he will not leave as long as he is still fit to play. There is a lot of speculation about De Bruyne's future as he will leave for the Saudi League but it looks like he will finish his contract in Manchester. City also don't want to be careless in making decisions, Gundogan's departure last season had a big impact on the team, especially if they lose the Belgian man again, City will lose its identity. Guardiola will let KDB go if he can find the right replacement.
If it's Kevin De Bruyne that wants to leave, then I don't think Manchester City has any option to keep him, but if it's for the fact is Guardiola that wants to sell him, and selling him when they've not gotten a good replacement , would be an ugly decision to make as we've seen number of time when Manchester City played without De Bruyne and how majority of those games thy found it difficult winning them.
De Bruyne from observation is a player I believe Pep Guardiola really like, and I'm yet to see reasons why he would be sold since he's still fit to player and not in any serious injury, and except they want to sell him for profit making.
Their is no clear doubt that Kevin is one of the finest midfielders when it comes to the game of football and also one of the best attacking minded player too and no doubt Manchester city will lose a rare if actually he was to leave but I feel if actually guadiola is that's the one offering to sell him, it might be due to the fact that Kevin really has not been on his game and also Manchester city is a versatile team and I believe guadiola can certainly find someone to fill in for his spot in the Manchester city side.
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you understand entertainment? on: June 06, 2024, 02:10:24 PM
Entertainment is something that can gives fun for us. Gambling is just one of many entertainment that we can gets so we can uses it to have fun even if we lose our money. Actually, other entertainments can makes us spends money. For example, you go to cinema and watch the movie, you spends some money to buy the ticket, watch the movie, and enjoy it. You lose your money because you buy the ticket but you satisfy with that because that's the money you can afford to uses to watch the movie at the cinema.

Gambling is just like that. You spends your money to enjoy the gambling games and you only uses the money you can afford to lose. But if you breaks your limits by using more money, you will lose much money. It's about how much money you will spends in gambling and enjoy the game, even if you loses that money, you will not have a problem because you knows that playing gambling can makes you lose the money.

We tend to find entertainment in gambling in our own ways, and that's what make the fun more colourful. Some person like slot game because it's easy to make predictions by just guessing. But I love sport gambling because it also involves you to associate in watching the games to be able to make your own analysis and predictions that guarantees more fun and excitement whenever you win a bet. You could even play among yourselves using any card game or dice and get the best from the moment. Gambling is fun when you don't add addiction into the process spending above your limits will only make you regret gambling in the first place so I urge you Al to gamble responsible.
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What about low odds in sports betting? on: June 06, 2024, 01:50:02 PM
I recently came across a discussion about low odds in sports betting. I never believed that using low odds in sports betting could lead to success. And I believed that the reason for this state of affairs was that one loss can cancel out many victories. For me, this seemed like something that did not require proof, until a man began to argue with me, who, according to him, had achieved success in sports betting and had been taking profits from bookmakers for a long period.
 His strategy is:
1. He selects matches with relatively low odds, the outcome of which is more or less clear. For example, when an experienced team plays with outsiders.
2. You should choose many such matches for diversification purposes, so that one random loss does not wipe out all your winnings.
3. It follows from this that in most cases, low odds work out, and random losses are offset by a large number of wins.
I would like to ask you, what do you think about such strategies? What do you think are the disadvantages of this strategy?

The fact that he might have won from low odds doesn't necessarily mean that they are safe to play with. Low odds can be frustrating at times as they could even lead to loss, stances like this has occurred on multiple occasions and it's very annoying. That's why gambling is based on luck, you shouldn't think of it as though it's a good strategy to guarantee a won ticket. While using low odds, you'll have to make more selections to arrive at a reasonable amount of profit, which in turn increases the risk of winning the bet. However most persons tend to use a huge amount of money to bet on only one selection, though the chance of winning still depends on luck but this can be more preferred when you have faith in the team you are betting on. One fact about odds is that, they are given based on the performance of teams last set of matches and also the players that would be available for the match.
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling increases computer education. on: June 06, 2024, 01:35:50 PM
Each time I visit some physical betting shop in my country, I usually observe how some elderly people make use of computers. I live in a country where most people 55 years and above don't have basic computer education. Many of them cannot use the mouse, keyboard, or other parts of the computer. This might be because most of them have not been exposed to computer education.

However, the introduction of online betting has forced most gamblers in my country to learn how to use the computer. It is now common to see some elderly people using the mouse and keyboard effectively. Most of them have never attended any computer education class but learned through observation. Others might have gone through some level of training from family or friends. I am sure many of them wouldn't have learned anything about the computer if not for online gambling. What are your thoughts?
I think you overestimate the importance of gambling as a “platform” for teaching people in the older age group (over 55 years old) computer literacy / education. Undoubtedly, gambling here acts as a good motivator for such people, pushing them to start mastering the computer. But should typing the name of a gambling website into a search engine, creating an account and playing gambling be considered the height of computer education? This is ridiculous. All their skills will be limited to writing a couple of words on the keyboard and clicking the mouse in games, which will be used mostly in gambling games.

I clearly understands what the op meant by that, and he might have overhyped the process. Actually there are lots of old person who couldn't afford education and exposure to computer technology even the ability to work with mouse and keyboard was a problem due to their literacy, but as they start developing urge to gamble, they are being forced to use the mouse and keyboard and of course they eventually learn how to use them, this creating the basic knowledge for them, and that could even fuel their curiosity to learn how to make use of computers. So viewing form another direction it can be said that gambling actually was the reason they could gain their first experience with computers especially since they are also working with the internet.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you really want from gambling? on: June 06, 2024, 01:24:05 PM
It's obvious that majority of persons who play gamble are hoping they could double or make extra cash from gambling while few gamble because they want to have fun with either their friends, family,team.... However most persons take their decisions too far in making extra money from gambling and that actually leads to gambling addiction or irresponsible gamble attitude which lead to getting broke and losing valuable life property by selling them to gamble. Actually there are times were I gamble for fun with my peers, I could remember when we were still kids how we gamble on football matches we play to make the game more interesting even without us know it's real gambling that is being practiced back then.
198  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling is a fatal mistake on: June 06, 2024, 01:12:19 PM
That's the power of greediness in gamble. After losing upto half of his salary there was still an option to walk out of there quietly but he chose to stay back to win all that has been lost, what's the essence of visiting the gambling hall in the first place after receiving his salary, that explains how addicted he is. I don't blame gamble for anything, I only blame the gamblers who have given themselves up to addiction and irresponsible gambling. If only they could think critically before making some important decision, I don't think anyone would be addicted. Depression from losing all your money to gamble has made lots of persons do things they ought not to do, like committing suicide and even involve themselves into some criminal activities in other to regain back what has been lost.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Season on: June 06, 2024, 12:47:33 PM
Real Madrid is a team that never gives up on the condition of the squad they have so they will always do their best to get what they are after and this has really been proven this season. And I think Joselu will have more playing minutes next season if he stays at Real Madrid even though the Real Madrid team has brought in new players for next season who are generally quite well-known. However, the Real Madrid coach will definitely continue to make changes in order to maintain their current performance so they can become champions again next season.

I admire how they played their games last season, without much stress. They usually leave their opponents with the possession while they make good use of the chances they get, I think that's a good counter attack leaving their opponents confused. However signing Mbappe was a great decision because Mbappe is a brilliant and talented player, he is also hard working with makes him a good fit for Real Madrid. Though it had been his dream to have a football experience at Real Madrid and this is it. Next season would be a tough one as all teams qualified for champions league are doing well but I believe Madrid will still be the winner of next season's Champions league
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do your parents invest in bitcoin ? on: June 05, 2024, 10:14:58 PM
Actually my parents are not believe in digital currency, because of their age, and I'm trying educate them about Bitcoin and how it works. But only what them want from me is proof, which I have invested little money I have and screenshot my buying point and print it out as evidence, while waiting for Bull Run market to sell in a higher price. Therefore I can't wait to invest for my children as a prosperous father.
It will indeed be difficult for parents to be able to believe in investing in something new like digital currency and they are used to investing in real assets, whereas when investing in Bitcoin we cannot see the physical form and only the nominal value that we can see and this will makes it difficult for them to believe because they are used to the investments they make, if your parents are interested in what you explain, of course this will benefit you when they make investments and you will be able to benefit from what they do.
This your statement classes all parents as old or not entitled with the developments of this recent generation because I believe am also a parent myself and am fully involved with use of Bitcoin as investment but although I do understand the context of what you are talking about but I feel the urge to clarify that it shouldn't be a general sense about parents that aren't willing to invest as some of them are fully aware and involved too.
