181  Economy / Services / Re: Coinomat.com - Signature Campaign! [STARTED] on: May 04, 2015, 09:02:26 AM
The rates for full members are a bit low compared to Bitmixer and a few others but 0.001 BTC/post for senior members is quite good. The campaign is only 4 days old but there are already 16 pages so it looks like this campaign is very popular.

I like this , i like partecipate as this signature and support this proget , whit btc i buy your asset nxt ! 👍

Yeah, it's great. Lots of dividends so far. Smiley
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edible Password Pill FDA approved on: May 04, 2015, 08:33:16 AM
Another point: Assuming that the pill is evacuated out after digestion, what would prevent someone from the sewage treatment facility from collecting all of these pills and gaining access to the passwords of possibly hundreds of people?

Because swallowing a pill every 2 days is not an inconvenience. Plus how would it be a good way to have a cold storage wallet? Some robber could just put your phone near your chest to unlock your wallet.

Surely you mean that it is an inconvenience?
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin wallet that gives interest upon deposit? on: May 04, 2015, 08:29:08 AM
Certain trading strategies involving arbitrage still work during market volatile time.

It would be difficult to know if they are actually doing what they claim to be doing unless they are completely open about their funds.

At one point there was pirateat40 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50822.0; however that did not turn out very well for the investors.

People knew that 7% per week is unsustainable.

But many people including coblee invested into it, and theymos let them show their ads on the forum.

At one point there was pirateat40 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=50822.0; however that did not turn out very well for the investors.

People knew that 7% per week is unsustainable.

Yet people did deposit bitcoins with him. Greed can make people throw caution to the winds.

As for me, I would be very sceptical of a wallet which pays interest. Only if was from an established company, with wide ranging interests (not just crypto) and verifiable financials, would I even consider it.

An established company wouldn't deal with cryptos anyway. They might convert the cryptos into fiat but then you could lose out if the BTC price appreciates.

how would such wallets pay interest??? Even if they did i don't suppose such interest would represent considerable fraction of the original deposit???
And if they paid interest every time a new deposit or withdrawal would result in a different amount to be paid wouldn't it???

people always look to find ways to make a few bits. but most of the time it's not worth it. reward is too low to make it interesting for people.

Expected reward could actually be negative if the risk of it being a ponzi and collapsing is taken into account.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edible Password Pill FDA approved on: May 04, 2015, 08:14:56 AM
But still there is a possibilites that someone's body system might reject it and there is a chance that the implant might be causing damage for the body . Unless they could create an implant using the DNA of the certain person, the human body will acknowledge it as part of the body and the body is free from harm

You're right - there is a possibility but the risks are very low and it's a field of research that is very active right now:

Most people should have no problems with biocompatible polymers like polyurethane and polyacrylamide. Adverse tissue reaction rates for PAA were 96% according to this article. There are already transdermal and subdermal implants used as contraceptives:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdermal_implant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transdermal_implant

The technology is being developed currently:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microchip_implant_(human)

And there are version for pets and other animals:

185  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-29] FT: Why women stay away from bitcoin on: May 04, 2015, 07:57:20 AM
This "women in Bitcoin" topic seems to be a very popular one right now. It's been brought up at least three times in the past couple of weeks. All because of that one article by Salmon.

Quote
No. Since I am both a critic of the movement’s hyperbolic nature and a woman, I have never had the privilege of being invited. As a rule you have to be a bitcoin developer, a coder or a marketeer to secure an invite.

If you're going to talk about developers and coders then try taking a look at any open source project and you'll see that it's mostly males who are involved.

Quote
Now consider the primary use of bitcoin on the internet: online gambling, drugs, black-market services and pornography.

This is where she got it all wrong. Who used mobile phones when it was first invented? Primarily male. How were the first mobile phones used? Making calls. Now who uses mobile phones and what can we do on it? Answer: Everyone and everything.

Bitcoin is not even close to reaching its maximum potential now.

True, although the first users of mobile phones were yuppies/business people.

The same is also true for the Internet too. Males are attracted to shiny new experimental technology but as the technology becomes more widespread and developed and it gradually transforms from a novelty to a necessity where the benefits become pretty clear, then the technology becomes used by both genders.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edible Password Pill FDA approved on: May 04, 2015, 07:45:00 AM
So you basically need to pop a password pill every 53 hours, because that is the normal average period it takes for food to be processed.

Source : http://www.mayoclinic.org/digestive-system/expert-answers/faq-20058340

The better alternative would be a permanant implant under the skin... but many religions are against this option. {They already do this with pets}

I cannot see how, popping a pill daily, would be a viable option, to do this.  Shocked .... I also do not want to search my shit, to retrieve it, once it's passed.  Shocked Shocked

Swelling a pill every 2 days doesn't seem like a good idea.
A permanent implant under skin is a good idea but the long-term effects of radiation from such pills should be evaluated first.

In some scenarios, this might even be dangerous. Someone wanting to penetrate your financial accounts may as well kidnap you and put you in front of a machine to automatically login without your consent.

Not to mention that someone might be allergic to those pills or the implant under skin. If someone want to use this technology, I doubt that he will tell anyone that he swallow a pill or put up implant under his skin which contains his password. He might want to do it secretly to avoid being kidnap as you said

For those who are allergic to certain metals, there are bio-friendly polymers available which can separate the inner workings of the implant from the person's body. People can usually tolerate artificial hearts, artificial joints, pacemakers, etc. despite them being made of synthetic materials.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edible Password Pill FDA approved on: May 04, 2015, 07:41:29 AM
I saw an article on reddit today about a pill that motorola has developed that has been FDA approved already.

"A quick soak in your gastric juices turns the pioneering pill on, triggering it to transmit an 18-bit, EKG-like signal from your insides. The ingestible micro computer’s (thankfully silent) signal would then automagically unlock your smartphone and other gadgets. Yes, you’ll actively be your very own password beacon for as long as the pill is still inside of you."

This seems like it could be useful for hardware wallets for large face to face transfers or a cold storage wallet.

Rather than having to swallow a pill every one or two days, some type of permanent implant would probably be better (it would still need FDA approval though) or alternatively, something wearable.

And 18 bits? Isn't that too low for a password? That's 262,144 different possibilities...

Also, if it's constantly transmitting the password then it might be possible for someone to grab the passwords of other people as they walk around in public without their knowledge.
188  Bitcoin / Wallet software / If Bitcoin hard forks, do alternative clients need to be updated? on: May 04, 2015, 07:34:19 AM
Currently there is some discussion about hard forking Bitcoin so that the maximum block size is increased. That would require a mandatory update for Bitcoin Core. But what about alternative clients like Electrum and Multibit? Do these also need to be updated or not? Since they rely on external servers, is it just these servers that need to be updated or everyone who uses the program?
189  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy now or wait ? $41,000 to invest in bitcoins and litecoins on: May 04, 2015, 07:20:57 AM
To those saying that Litecoin might spike again, well this is true but also keep in mind that the altcoin scene has changed since 2013. There are a lot more altcoins now with different features all competing to be #2. Litecoin is also far less innovative and active development-wise than it once was.

this topic was oppen nearly 4 months ago.
hopefully he didnt invest to any of it.
i believe for investing litecoin is like gambling.its getting out of game day by day.

It was actually started slightly over 1 year ago. Note the date is from 2014 and not 2015.

As for OP, I haven't read the entire thread but ouch. Any decision to invest in Bitcoin or Litecoin in 2014 was a bad one in retrospect but buying so much so early on was an even more terrible choice (although not as bad as buying in Late Nov-December 2013!). But if OP is a hodler who truly thinks that BTC will eventually reach $50,000+ then I guess that's not too bad.

Hi guys, after more than 1 year, here I am again

I'm fu*ked, bought all the 41k $ in Litecoins @ $20 dollars each

Now It's $1,4

hahahahah I have nothing to do, just wait and hodl

I have been FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU !!!  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

hahahahhaha  Cool Grin

LMAO, op you were so brave, why you bought liteshit?

A LTC ASIC mining company is called gridseed, the owner of this company owns over 51% hash power of litecoin, so if you buy ltc, it's help him cash out, I am afraid this guys dumped his 10 million litecoin above 20 USD, lol so he is a billionaire but you guys are bagholders for those guys.

Did someone really dump 10 million LTC? Perhaps that might explain the current prices then. Oh, and he'd be a millionaire and not a billionaire. Satoshi was the only person so far to have become a billionaire through cryptos. Grin
190  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: CoinLearn.org : Newbie Learning + Hourly Earning on: May 04, 2015, 01:24:16 AM
What's the relationship between Coinlearn.org and Coinlearn.com? The latter looks like a half-finished site that will offer courses in Bitcoin once it's fully developed. Is it an upcoming project by the same people?

The answer of your question is given in this article Wink

http://coinfire.io/2014/06/23/behind-faucets/

Thanks for the information. Here's the relevant bit:

Quote
CoinLearn:  1. For months, while I was developing the site including logo, I knew CoinLearn.com was free. It got booked the day before I tried to actually book it online. So, again I needed to decide which domain I needed to settle upon and change logo and texts accordingly.

I guess it goes to show that it's always a good idea to register the domain first (I should know, I once missed out on a domain that I wanted by 7 days). Coinlearn.com doesn't look like a typical domain squatter and they seem to have actual plans for their site. This could be a good thing if the site ends up being good but it could also be a bad thing if it further adds to the confusion.
191  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: May 04, 2015, 12:08:18 AM
I always hope that bitcoin value will increase. Now i'm saving my bitcoin, but when its value down to under $150, i will sold all of my bitcoin to USD and wait until its value increase again. I do it to prevent from a huge lose

The price of bitcoin surely raise and it wont go under $150 because our bitcoin is going to be mainstream so people will use it. This is one of the best digital payment and the safest in this world I dont think it will going back to $150

agreed with you i too don't think the price will go back to under $150, as bitcoin getting more big merchant and adoption, at the moment public awerness is rising to use it as safest and fastest payment method. the future about it very bright.

It's been dropping under $1200, $1100, $1000, $900, $800, $700, $600, $500, $400, $300, and $200... It could go under $150 if the bear trend continues. Most of the price decrease happened despite more merchants choosing to accept BTC and more interest coming from governments/Wall Street. Sad

I dont really own bitcoin. But I plan to buy some now Smiley
If I have boughten 10 BTc for 2000$ and the price went up to 1000$ per Bitcoin, I will sell them and get 5x profit! Grin

Hmmm.. You mean $200 right?  Roll Eyes

He probably means that if he buys 10 BTC for a total of $2,000 (or $200 per coin). Then when the price goes up to $1,000 per coin, the total value of his coins would be $5,000 (i.e. 5x profit).
192  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: May 03, 2015, 11:56:23 PM
For Primedice cases, I dont think that they might be switching into altcoins as I believe the US players just a small fraction from their regular players .

Does anyone know exactly how many of their players are based in the US? Is it under 50%?

Well I wouldn't consider dadice an altcoin-accepting site, as in fact you can't play there with altcoin. You can deposit with altcoins, but it will be converted to bitcoin right away and will show up as bitcoin on your account balance.

If we want to do that, we can as well use an altcoin exchange and play on Primedice.

Hmm, so you maybe like fortunejack, it has multiple altcoin betting, clam, dash, doge, redd, nmc, and so forth.

Or just play clam dice on jd, you can try bitdice.me as well, those sites have altcoin betting/

Those are some good suggestions, although none of them have the same amount of trust that PD has in the community yet. PD doesn't accept US players... JD doesn't accept BTC. And those were the two largest and most trusted dice sites. Sad

Maybe SatoshiDice is a distant third because they've been around for ages. But they don't accept US players too I think...

Of course they're also not comparable in that Micon was the "spokesman" and "pokerpro" for sealswithclubs but wasn't an owner/operator.  On the other hand, I think Stunna is the owner/operator of primedice.

Anyway, thanks MICRO for the clarification about using tor/vpn.

What ? U mean Micon is not owner of SwCpoker.eu ? Then who is ? I mean what is the owner's anonymous identity ?

Some sites list him as a co-founder apparently. Others list him as founder only. One calls him a "rumored founder". Not sure what the exact situation is.

194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 03, 2015, 12:02:51 PM
There is also the possibility that Satoshi could pass away and his or her estate would sell the coins in order to pay capital gains / and or inheritance taxes in some jurisdiction.

Capital gains/inheritance taxes wouldn't need to be paid if the BTC isn't converted into fiat. Satoshi could simply give his private keys to his children in the form of a paper wallet (although after mining for 1 year, it would probably resemble a book in his case).
195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your favorite type of gambling? on: May 03, 2015, 11:25:20 AM
I enjoy live dealer roulette, poker, and leveraged trading.

Why - Each of these games can be mastered/beaten by learning various techniques.

You?

I'm just a dice guy. Boring, I know. Skill-based games sound pretty interesting but I'll probably end up losing each and every time I play. Grin
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Initial Coin Distribution Importance on: May 03, 2015, 10:00:52 AM
Bob, I think I may have over-simplified what I was trying to say about initial coin distribution.  Here's the thing.  Imo for a 2.0 project like Ripple, they might get away with the fact that they have one of the worst distributions out there.  Here's why...

  * Ripple Labs is a for profit company.  So in effect it is in their interest for XRP to go up.

  * We know their identities (devs, execs, etc...), and know that they could get imprisoned for fraud if they do
     any shenanigans.

In Bitcoin's case, it must be very important.  And the fact that Satoshi holds 1m BTC may be a problem.  Why...

  * We do not know who he really is and what he intends to do with his coins. He cannot be held liable for
      anything because he's anonymous.

So I think knowing a person's identity, his intentions and that he can be held liable for fraud has to be given more importance than distribution.  Not saying that distribution isn't important at all.  Because if one dev wants to be anonymous, then distribution must be fair as much as possible to encourage trust in the system.

Edit:  I started a thread about why Satoshi didn't "burn" his coins if he doesn't have any intention in gaining access on them in the future https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045997.0

Some inputs with be nice.

Even if the guys at Ripple Labs decide not to do any obvious shenanigans, the simple fact that they hold so much of the total value (and thus power) in a decentralized distributed network might not sit too well with some people.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: any training course for making own altcoin and wallet on: May 03, 2015, 09:48:40 AM
You could try this scrypt altcoin cloning guide although scrypt altcoins are a bit out of fashion these days:

http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=scrypt_altcoin_cloning_guide

A user named Cryddit wrote these guides too:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1019508
(lol this post is symmetrical)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1030365

The same as the last one but in a blog format:

http://dillingers.com/blog/2015/04/18/how-to-make-an-altcoin/

It might not be easy for some people. There are also sites which can generate coins automatically for you.
198  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BtcBB] - Forum Software made for crypto enthusiast [Market Software] on: May 03, 2015, 09:37:56 AM
Do you develop the forum from scratch or do you use some other open source code as base?

Everything is from scratch.

Any idea when you'll release this to pubic?

The software wont be for release, its private.

The forums however will be released for public to sign up etc and use in 2-3 months

What language is the software written in? I'm guessing it's written in PHP?

Will the script be available for purchase like vBulletin is today or is it only intended to be used for a single website? And will the final website be hosted on Tor or on the wider Internet?
