How do we know that this supply is multirail? I find nothing in the referenced article that claims that this is so.

But then again I didn't look very hard.

Lepa 1600w specs

There are no specs on the linked article?

Plus it has an 80 Plus Silver logo on it. The Lepa G1600 is an 80 Plus Gold unit.

That is correct, but lepa spiked my interest on the 6 rails it has.

SERIOUSLY? NVIDIA CARDS???

This has been the funniest thread all month! LOL

This kid is so butthurt.

Are the lepa's any good? I almost bought one but I couldn't find jack on them online besides johnny guru.

They are great.  But you can only load them specifically due to multiple rails.
187  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970!!!!!!! on: June 06, 2012, 07:15:38 PM
It's not a 7990, either. It's a 7970X2.

Correct, 7990 is trademarked by AMD.

I am very jealous indeed. I do plan on getting a 7970 soon. I just decided. So if 71% asic quality is good... what is bad? How well would a 100% clock?

100% is very very very rare.  Those cards are worth top dollar.  I'd say average is low 70's.  Theres the 7970 owners thread which lists all of the ASIC qualities people have gotten to give you an idea.

I was scowering ebay for an 80% by messaging the owners, but a majority were average.  But this was a deal I couldn't turn down.  (I would've if it was < 70% though.  Close!)

A 100% card would have a crazy high clock with stock volts.  But under water it doesn't matter much.  Most chips behave the same, because the core stays <40C compared to 80C.  I think asic quality makes the most difference at higher temps. (granted if you have 70C water passing over your card from a CRAZY clock, lol..)

Is there a software to determine ASIC quality?

More specifically, a LINUX software.

Why so much Windblows specific software ? MSI AB, GPU-Z, RBE ... makes me sad Cry

Make your own

"Rosewill are aiming for a unique individual – one willing to pair a dual processor system with several GPUs that have tri 6-pin power connectors."

Lol, how about aiming for another unique individual - a miner running a Sempron and 6 GPUs. I agree, though, that the lack of single rail is a negative.

I agree and disagree.  Singlre rail for that is very dangerous.  That would need some seriously thick wire to carry those amps safely.  I think it would be best to have it split into 2 rails, not 6.

Well, I guess there's a trend of 3 8-pin going around..

Speaking of, if this card is to be used for mining, we should make 2x 8pin to 3x 8pin adapters for undervolted cards.  To distribute the load better, instead of just plugging two 8pins into the card

depending on price, this may be a good one.

2x pcie 16x

2x pcie 1x

2x pci

could possible run 4 cards..

Is there a software to determine ASIC quality?

It only works on some Nvidia cards and 78xx 79xx series cards
195  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Holy balls, I just won this on: June 06, 2012, 01:45:22 AM
It's a sapphire board with 71.5% ASIC quality

Can you explain that?  Huh

The GPU matches 71.5% of manufacturer spec.  Average is 65-70%

My first card is 76.7%.  Just measures the leakage.  Runs on higher clocks at lower volts
196  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: u srs rosewill???? on: June 06, 2012, 01:44:16 AM
Granted that they don't design specifically for Bitcoiners, would be tricky to power more than 8 high end GPUs without rigging up some special adapters to share the 2 rails set aside for CPU+Mobo.

But I'd want a Jonny Guru review of any single rail 1600W option, just to be sure it would hot box at 80+ Gold.

Well said, I agree!
197  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: u srs rosewill???? on: June 06, 2012, 01:15:34 AM
Yes, I saw them, but if you can't fully load those individual rails, it's power that will never be seen.

Lepa seems to have managed to keep the size under control a bit better. Or is the gigantic nature of the Rosewill unit a marketing bullet point?

I'm jelly!

How much do you want for that cooler?

Like 70$ shipped (usa).  But I have to buy the block, fittings and crossfire connectors first.  For sale at a later date Cheesy
200  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Holy balls, I just won this on: June 06, 2012, 12:45:40 AM
What's the backplate good for? That go with the cooler?

It's useful when you put a 2.5lb waterblock on it Cheesy  The card has a tendency to warp leading to broken solder.

Who uses cases?  Honestly..

It's my gaming card? o.o  I prefer my case as to lugging around all my computer components along with tubes, fittings, blocks, the pump, radiators, thermal paste and a gallon of distilled water.  I mean I move the computer every 3 months.  Id say it's justified..
