181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: January 31, 2016, 07:56:50 PM
You can buy now, and it's 99.99% guaranteed that a year from now the price will be higher.
Very naive comment about investing.
I wish no one take investment advice from BitcoinTalk. Cheesy

I think nobody in the BitcoinTalk forum is qualified to give investment advice. There are many scammers here.
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: January 29, 2016, 04:31:53 PM
Well I think a lot of people are not to familiar with this kind of currency and some people not knowing the possibilities with bitcoin doesn't realized yet the importance in having bitcoin!

The main point is that most people have never heard about bitcoin. There are not many main stream exposure about bitcoin.

Yes I need to agree this. We need some more special campaigns and promotions to take bitcoin to each and every common people of this globe. Unawareness of bitcoin ecosystem is the main stopping for most of the people.

We need to get somebody super rich on board, he can advertise for bitcoin and promote it in various occasions.

This concerns me about what will happen to bitcoin price after 2016 ? Will it crash after the block halving ? Is there any upcoming incident in 2017-18 that may push the price up again ?
I think 16nm chips will play the key role to raise price after block halving. Market always tends towards true price discovery and as the difficulty is rising, true price to create one bitcoin will rise. Block halving will boost the same. In the overall effect, we'll see some significant shift in BTC price baseline from 2017 onwards (till 2020 block halving). I guess, the baseline would be 500+.

I'm guessing way more than that!

The price could achieve $3000 this year. Half the increase is due to block halving, the other half is due to 2MB or higher block size.

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Affordable motherboard for GPU mining? on: January 23, 2016, 09:13:47 PM

Some MSI motherboards have 7 PCIE slots, like G41, G45, GD55 or GD65.  I bought the MSI Z77A GD55 for $160 two years ago. I sold it for $180 a few weeks ago. They are in demand.

Great! I have a look into them and check which one would be suitable to start mining according to my budget. About the ideal power supply for the GPUs, how do I know how many watts PSU do I need for lets say 6 or 7 GPUs? I just want to know since I don't want to waste money on a bigger watt power supply, when I could have bought one that meets the wattage requirements for the GPUs.  Smiley

If your electricity is more than $0.2/kWh, then do not mine.

If you can buy AMD 7990, that is the best for Ethereum mining in terms of price, performance and power consumption. You might get ROI with this.

With 4x 7990 = 8GPU, so it is best to reduce the overhead cost of the PC system. It also just needs 4 PCIE slot. You can even use a micro ATX motherboard.

For Ethereum mining with h4x7990 and you undervolt and underclock, a 1250W power supply is OK.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Netflix and YouTube Threaten Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2016, 07:02:24 PM
Bitcoin would be much better off if Netflix began accepting bitcoin. However I don't think that the bandwidth that Netflix uses will interfere with the bitcoin network any time soon.

The bandwidth used by bitcoin is much much smaller than netflex or other content providers. It will not be affected by rationing.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Classic = a bunch of idiots running the full node on: January 21, 2016, 05:21:37 PM
maybe Core will add 2 MB and end this mess? that would be a cool story  Wink

2MB  + SegWit + LN etc would be great.

I think Core should add 2MB earlier than Classic then test the SegWit and give miner and service providers to update to the SegWit.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Classic = a bunch of idiots running the full node on: January 19, 2016, 06:35:14 PM
If Bitcoin core implements the 2MB block size within two months, there is no need for bitcoinclassic. But will Core do that?
189  Economy / Economics / Re: Upcoming Puerto Rican bankruptcy:Any impact on Bitcoin? on: January 14, 2016, 04:20:39 PM
So it happened or not?

Since I heard nothing about the fact or possibility, I think the effect will be small at most

The impact will be small. Puerto Rican is almost part of America, it will be saved eventually by the US or the Chinese.
190  Economy / Economics / Re: Upcoming Puerto Rican bankruptcy:Any impact on Bitcoin? on: January 12, 2016, 11:50:55 AM
My guess: Not Puerto Rico will push the Bitcoin price in the next months, but China definitely will.

If the Chinese guys put 0.001% of their wealth into bitcoin, the bitcoin price will go through the roof.
191  Economy / Economics / Re: Upcoming Puerto Rican bankruptcy:Any impact on Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2016, 04:53:36 PM
I can't imagine anything happening in Puerto Rico having an effect outside of Puerto Rico. Just look at Greece: it was huge drama for the Greeks, but nothing changed in Germany or in the rest of Europe. Where's Puerto Rico, by the way? I forgot.

As long as there is no run away inflation there, people will not reach for bitcoin to protect their wealth.
192  Economy / Economics / Re: Upcoming Puerto Rican bankruptcy:Any impact on Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2016, 04:10:45 PM
According to a newspaper, Puerto Rican bankruptcy would be the 4th biggest in the history. The country has got 70 billion USD debt.

It is Jan 10 2016, nothing happened to the Puerto Rican. So the bankruptcy has been avoided or delayed.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: January 09, 2016, 12:01:41 PM
Simplicity and accessibility; although we have made a lot of progress over the years (e.g. coinbase, circle etc)

The infrastructure for bitcoin is still be built and it will take several years for the bitcoin to be a popular payment option.
194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why people give altcoins as collateral? on: January 08, 2016, 01:27:27 PM
I am not in the selling of things yet, but i would defineatly accept altcoins with a good daily volume.
It's as safe at bitcoin so you are sure to get your money back.

I offer some loans sometimes and I only accept big volume altcoins like litecoin, dash and Ethereum.

Most other altcoins I don't accept since they are not listed on my exchange.

What happens if the price of the bitcoin rise, and those altcoin price drops against bitcoin even though their dollar value remains the same?
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: January 04, 2016, 08:49:36 PM
In my opinion, maybe because the price is fluctuating. So, they fear that if the price drops drastically.
price of gold, and oil stocks also fluctuate, and no one can guarantee the price will be stable, but why are they afraid to fluctuations in the price of bitcoin?

But the volatility of the price of gold and oil stocks are usually quite small, although the volatility increased recently.
196  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why people give altcoins as collateral? on: January 03, 2016, 09:27:40 AM
True, Not all altcoins are valid, Almost arenīt valid, LTC is an example of  valid.

Examples are litcoin, monero, ethereum or dash, dgb. Those are large market cap coins. Easier to get rid of.
197  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why people give altcoins as collateral? on: December 25, 2015, 08:40:28 AM
You know !, I asked myself the same question before and I found no answer except that those who gives altcoins as a collateral want to save some satoshis they will lose dew do the exchange fees . although the loan interest might charge them more !

I think the main reason people use altcoin as collateral is that they want to keep the altcoins, and do not want to exchange twice.

199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I downloaded the bitcoin core wallet, what now? on: December 08, 2015, 10:45:21 AM
I have the same issue.. it takes sometime to sync...I just leave my laptop,  for it  to sync, I haven't check it yet if it had already sync its time.. I installed it just the other day,..  Smiley

they said that its a good wallet and a secure one too...

You need a lot of space in your computer. At present, it needs 56GB harddisk space in my PC. The requirement will rise fast next year when bitcoin becomes popular.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: November 28, 2015, 10:33:52 AM
people stop using bitcoins i think because if they are paying goods they can't reverse the payment when they get scammed ,unlike paypal if you get scammed you can file a dispute and retrieve your money , bitcoins has pros and cons i guess they stopped because of those cons .

This is one of the biggest problem of bitcoin. When paypal integrates bitcoin into its payment system, this problem can be solved.
