It's always good to see this video to get some perspective going:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbZ8zDpX2Mg

As you can see, in the long run, the price that you get in becomes almost irrelevant. You can buy now, and it's 99.99% guaranteed that a year from now the price will be higher. Therefore, if you are here long term, it's a big waste of time trying to look for a perfect price to get in, just get in now without thinking about it too much would be my advice to anyone still not holding any coins which I hope is the minority at this point.

This concerns me about what will happen to bitcoin price after 2016 ? Will it crash after the block halving ? Is there any upcoming incident in 2017-18 that may push the price up again ?
I think 16nm chips will play the key role to raise price after block halving. Market always tends towards true price discovery and as the difficulty is rising, true price to create one bitcoin will rise. Block halving will boost the same. In the overall effect, we'll see some significant shift in BTC price baseline from 2017 onwards (till 2020 block halving). I guess, the baseline would be 500+.

I'm guessing way more than that!

The price could achieve $3000 this year. Half the increase is due to block halving, the other half is due to 2MB or higher block size.

Very naive comment about investing.

Thats what people used to say before bitcoin surged over 30$,50$,250$,1000$,1250$ ... By some logic taking advices from bitcointalk is the best thing
one can do, if you have the time to wait for it to happen. Even if it takes years..

I have a good feeling about 2016 overall.

I think nobody in the BitcoinTalk forum is qualified to give investment advice. There are many scammers here.

As I've read in other threads, it is most likely that a majority of the price difference caused by the halving has already been priced in to the current value of Bitcoin, and thus there likely will not be another major upswing for a while, or at least until next halving.

Why would halving cause a crash? Halving is a good thing. The price will rise, but it also may drop, I wouldn't say crash though.

The majority of the people with me included think that the block halving will result in a significant price increase. However, there are also people who think the comming block halving will result in a lower price for whatever reason. I find these people to be doom thinkers.

I do think it's a hype, but I am not sure of it being a hype 100%.
It could be well that the price increase, but not times 3 like some are saying.

There's a load of hype and I believe the price will both go up and down, but I am not bothered so much about this as for sure there'll be a huge amount of transactions, more so than I think we will likely of seen before. Interesting times ahead.

Why would it crash after the halving?

THe reasonable thing is that it rises. Same demand, less btc in the market, hence prices rise. No?

i dont understand why it would crash after the halfing lol. after halfing it would be the same bitcoin as before but with a reduced supply. if nything should happen to bitcoin it would be that the price would increase cuz the supply went down

I think after 2016, the price will be higher bitcoin, it is because half has been block, thus pushing prices higher, it would also be caused because of the many investors who entered into bitcoin world so as to make the price

Don't worry about what are the the hype to wait for after halving, there is always a hype every now and then. Just visit the speculation section you'll see everyone with motivation posts just about anything to take advantage of.

Bitcoin is too big to just stop in such a short period of time.
