I definitely agree that a well-designed auctionhouse would be the perfect next step (just as pretty as the megacoin website).

sad, really was looking forward to buying some, but this is about twice as much as I would be willing to pay. Looks like I'll have to wait another week or two.

so hot.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: old thread, moved on: September 11, 2013, 09:06:59 PM
Code:
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
addnode=75.111.65.232
addnode=184.155.117.207

change user and pass if you feel like it. if your miner is not the same computer as the wallet, you will have to add an rpcallowip accordingly.

bfgminer will connect a jalapeno like this:

bfgminer -o localhost:18514 -u user -p pass --disable-gpu

and block erupters like this:

bfgminer -o localhost:18514 -u user -p pass --disable-gpu -S all

sounds a bit like "a sick coin"
186  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BPMC Launch BF1 USB miner - probably the fastest USB miner in the World on: September 11, 2013, 09:01:33 PM
Well it would be inherently pointless for them to price them above the easily available block erupters, so I think they will be priced just a tiny bit below those.

Might want to change

<Ann> advanced new sha256 Tekcoin

to

[ANN] [TEK] TEKcoin - An Advanced New SHA256 Coin

for starters...
The formatting of this thing makes me wonder what the code looks like.

what do you mean by "it's more difficult to mine"? All Scrypt Coins are mined pretty much the same way. Your amount of stales depends purely on the pool's latency/quality and your physical distance from it.

If you mean that it's more profitable to mine other coins: yes, that's almost always the case in the altcoin forum - once something is on coinchoose it will hardly be the most profitable coin to mine ever again. So of course you will get more megacoins if you mine the latest copycats, dump them as soon as they hit an exchange and buy megacoin from it. I like to do it that way - but this is hardly Megacoin's fault.

Just saying that block rewards scaling from high to low in such a steep fashion (the wrong way around!) and no pre-announcement in all the biggest places is not what has been established as a "fair start"
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: old thread, moved on: September 11, 2013, 06:58:06 PM
haha is anyone mining this? I just turned it on and I'm getting like 1 a second!

and the obvious answer is no

well, announcing it to the biggest community after the "5x bonus during the first 2 days!!!" bonus is almost over is pretty much the same as a premine. however that's already standard behaviour with new coins.

viable alternatives:

Installing the wallet:  Since this is an EXACT copy of Bitcoin when you install the client it will attempt to use the existing bitcoin roaming (windows) folder.  You're going to need to rename the Bitcoin SHA-256 roaming folder to something else to use the Bitcoin Scrypt client.  BEWARE, this could destroy your wallet if you start mining Bitcoin Scrypt using the Bitcoin SHA-256 wallet.dat file.

How very useful. I see lots of noob tears on the horizon

so what is the best one can do to help with a smooth transition? install the new client and solomine? or simply leave it open?
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Tigercoin added to www.JaPool.com on: September 07, 2013, 06:39:23 PM
no payout after 40 minutes of mining, going back to solo
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Primecoin VPS mining with higher returns! - please close on: September 07, 2013, 04:10:24 PM
Anyone went for this shit? I only see about 6-12% of the performance the CPU should offer. It's slower than my netbook. Don't go for it. Don't go for it - it's a trap and you can only cancel via phone. ridiculous.

I did... and I regret it from day 1 off... indeed less than 10% of the promised CPU power... just received billing for the rest of the year... well... they can wait for payment until I have full CPU power!! Hahaha

Well, what do we do? I wrote a support ticket stating that it is not nearly offering the power of an 8 core 2.67 xeon and that i benchmarked it.

they simply replied that it might not have enough RAM and recommended I got an upgrade. rofl. answering now "no i am definitely not doing anything wrong and the RAM is not full, you are ripping me off" (in nice-speak). let's see how it goes.

give your coin a huge [ANN] post where all up-to-date info is in one spot and well-structured. it doesn't even have that. I for one am not getting any connections with the client, and I'm not in the mood to search for addnodes. :p
