181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Custom RAM Timings for GPU's with GDDR5 - DOWNLOAD LINKS - UPDATED on: October 12, 2017, 06:47:54 AM
The blockchain driver is useless for me for XMR, tried it like 3 different times with DDU, each time i was getting less hash for more power draw.

Also, @doktor83, i will fiddle with this today again, i will install a 580 as well.

BTW, my cards are using Hynix (the 470 and 480), which are running the public strap from this thread, but modified a bit more.
I use Hynix too, and below hints from laik2
=
Your timing is too tight and if your dram isn't cool it will overheat fast.
Rase RAS_tRC and RAS_tRCDR/A by a bit, lower with cycle RAS_TRCDW/A.
Try increasing TRP and TRFC and most important TRP_RDA in misc timing. If you want to clock a bit more set CAS_tCL to 19 cycles.
=
And after that I try to loose it bit by bit until i get stable straps.
I only mine xmr too for now, and using blockchain get the best of it.

896 w8 g2 is the best you can get for 470/480/570/580

and yes, he has some nice straps.
and yes, you can use blockchain drivers for xmr, i get 925mhs on 1130/2000 with sapphire nitro+ 570 4gb

Either you are running it differently, either something is wrong.

896 w8 g2 makes the cards barely hashing, like 50h/s or 400h/s.

896 w8 makes them to hash with 100h/s less than normal.

Anyway, for some reason, the blockchain driver on my 470 and 480 give ~20h/s LESS and it increases the power consumption.

Go figure.
What GPU that you use? And can you try sgminer or gatelessgate?
After I check it for few days at pool, the hashrate really increase.

sgminer-gm 5-5-5, Windows 10, 17.2.1 drivers, RX470 XFX single fan 1225c/2000m ; RX480 Sapphire Nitro+, 1305c/2000m.
Using on both ri 512, w4 g2 and getting 470 = 867h/s, 480 = 900h/s.

Maybe it because driver. Blockchain better if you use for mining only. I stuck with it for now till i can get best driver that can be use for games.
My problem now is it only good for XMR, for eth just so so.

Well, its different algos, it uses similiar timings, but not the same. You need tight and proper timings for XMR, not all over the place for the secondary.

Also, is that 1000h/s just an example?
Dont know if something wrong here. before i use windows 7 and with that windows i can not use blockchain driver. At windows 7 with that timing i got around 890 h/s 70watt on GPUZ using claymore 10.2.
Since i really want to use blockchain driver, i change my windows to windows 10 but still got same h/s using claymore. And after that i check another miner software, and i got that result using zawawa gatelessgate with less watt.
I got the straps from ElioPV and then fixed by laik2, and after more refining with guide from laik2, i got the last straps that used here.

Okay, two things:

1. Do NOT use the Blockchain driver for XMR.

2. Use the following config : -ri 512 (or 504), -w 4, -g 2.
Report again whats your hashrate. You are using a lot lower than what is supposed to be.

Also, this gotta be some real crazy strap to run like that, or something is not right. I am doing 900h/s at 1305mhz Core/2000Mem and 867h/s at 1225core/2000mem, and its not the best one, but 1kh/s is insane. Also, is that strap shareable?

For that config i got 850 and 890 for both card, still using blockchain driver (cant try another driver now).
My card is Power Color Red Dragon 4GB Hynix, you can see the details few pages before (including the master straps).
Straps that I use is loose version from the master straps.

1250@960-980mV

Thanks. Managed to increase even to 1300@1025mV. This has increased the wattage with 20% and the hashrate with 6% (900 h/s). Again, compared to sgminer, this miner is currently superior Smiley
If electricity cheap i think no problem, but you see wattage increase 20% but you only gain 6%, how thats good?

Why timing that good for xmr kind like 1000 h/s only can get 30Mh/s for eth? What timing that can balance both of them in case we wanna change coin? What coin favor loose timing and what coin favor tight?
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 480 Setup for highest Hashrate on: October 08, 2017, 02:29:39 PM
Is your OS Windows 7? After everything I have try, until now I cant get Blockchain Driver works on Windows 7, thats why I change to Windows 10, and it works perfectly.
Yes I'm on Windows 10. Currently I have some serious problems to get my rig started, it takes ages to start. If I can't fix that, I'll reinstall Windows 10 and start from the beginning I guess.
Harddisk problem maybe? If corrupt windows, fresh install will fix it.

I have the same card but when I atiflash the modded bios, I get an driver error and the card is not recognized anymore...
Can you tell me which driver you use ?
Or maybe upload the moded bios ?
Thnx.

Have you patch your driver using https://www.monitortests.com/atikmdag-patcher-1.4.5.zip ?

Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v10.2
-li   low intensity mode. Reduces mining intensity, useful if your cards are overheated. Note that mining speed is reduced too.
More value means less heat and mining speed, for example, "-li 10" is less heat and mining speed than "-li 1". You can also specify values for every card, for example "-li 3,10,50".
Default value is "0" - no low intensity mode.
Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7
-li   Low intensity mode. Specify "-li 1" if you don't want Windows to freeze.

The option mean different now, and my windows keep freezing if using -li 1. I mine while working on my pc (windows 7 64).
Is there any solution without upgrading to windows 10?
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v10.1 on: September 30, 2017, 02:17:48 AM
Windows lags when mining and browsing. When using version 9.7 I use to option -li 1 and it keeps windows from lagging.
I try using that with version 10.1, even using -li 50 still lag.
I'm using windows 7 with Crimson-ReLive-17.9.2-Sep21 driver.
Try using Blockchain-Workloads-Aug23, always can not start mining (error amdocl64.dll)
GPU PowerColor Red Dragon RX 480 4GB, using mod bios.
Anyone can help?
use windows 10
I see, will try in few days.
Thank you.

194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solar powered CPU mining on: September 29, 2017, 01:53:01 AM
I don't see the point of a dedicated solar system for mining. Solar is just one power source and mining is just one
power load. Why not connect the solar to the house power as a hybrid system where you can use solar for everything
when it's available and commercial power when not. This would avoid imbalances in power availability and load.
A dedicated solar mining system would either have excess load leaving some mining HW without power or
too much power that can't be absorbed by the mining HW and would have to be bled off and wasted. A hybrid system\
would ensure all the mining HW is mining all the time.
Using GRID-TIE and exporting your excess electricity in to the grid just like joblo said and of course no need for battery since it will make your cost double. What you need is inverter that greater from your current need since you just can add more solar panel later (if you got small budget).
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will 2x650w work with 6 GPUs? on: September 24, 2017, 10:38:00 PM
A cheap price for a POS Bronze PSU with a 70% efficiency rating 'under typical load' sounds really appealing. LOL. A mining rig that's on 24/7 is NOT a typical load. Do yourself and your rig a favor and buy a PSU that can handle the workload you're asking of it. Go with a EVGA G2/P2 that has a 90% or better efficiency that will also save you money in the long run. You can go with two smaller PSU's as long as there are enough PCI-E connectors for all the cards you want to use.

Hey thanks. I thought this was rated up to  89% efficiency. Could you link me the page where you find the 70% efficiency rating? If that is truly the case, then yeps you are definitely right, that is not a very good rating at all for a mining rig.
I think you can check that at Product Description. More than 70% efficiency at typical load operation and Efficiency  85% Typically.

I grow weary of the mental midgets intimating that this software developer is somehow a criminal.  Grow up.
Uhm yeah, they can be, if they rip off GPL'ed code they're obligated to provide the source otherwise they're in breach of the license. There were quite a few fiascos between major corporations over ripping off code. Like it or not it is the LAW.

Uhm, yeah, ...asshole, no shit.  You have any proof that this developer did that?  If not, thanks for the third grade legal lesson.

You're welcome my mentally challenged friend. Do you have any proof that I am making accusations against this developer? Or I am just pointing the obvious error in your statement that developers can't be criminals.

Context, ...asshole, context.  My post, which you quote states in part, "this software developer..." So why would you make a comment of a general nature?  Guilt by association because someone, somewhere did that?  Weak, very weak.  Furthermore, no where in my comment did I suggest that "developers can't be criminals."  But please continue, I am sure most are laughing pretty hard at your attempt to live up to your name.
Most people always think that they are better than other, and complaint (actually just like me)

is Mvddc that we edit at Polaris (kind like 1050/1100) usable in real life or is it for some gpu only? And what max Mvddc that safe?

You can't edit it at all - any change does nothing.
I see. Is there any chance we can add more volt to that gpu memory?

thx claymore 390x made 1200 h/s

Those things need a nuclear power plant run.
LOL you just need inverter... 50% discount for paying electric

Hm.. can you please explain it?
I think beside Inverter we still need Solar Panel for that.

Greetings!
Thank you Eliovp.
Try it not stable for me, but after change it from 79 to 98 it got stable with same speed.

Yup, nailed it Smiley

You equalized TRCDR and TRCDRA and set TREDC at 2 cycles. Better indeed! Kudo's!
Again, thank you for you both.
