amdcleanup and ddu do the same thing i find it quicker
i cant get claymore to work xmr stak is ok, i use cast xmr - its designed for the vegas
Is there a walkthrough for setting up cast? I only use claymore because I know how to set it up. Cast is easier to set up as there are fewer options to configure. My Cast start .bat file: cast_xmr-vega --opencl 1 -G 0,1,2,3,4 -S mine.xmrpool.net:7777 -u [Your_Monero_Wallet_address_goes_here] -p x -I 8 %* You may need to change --opencl to "0" on your setup. -G changes depending on how many Vega's (and other cards) you have on that rig. On a straight 6 Vega build, you would change to -G 0,1,2,3,4,5

what im doing wrong?
cast_xmr-vega.exe -s stratum+tcp://pool.electroneum.space:3333 -u wallet
and getting erro about no pool server or username configured
As other poster indicated, add "-p x" Cast seems to need that

How are you guys getting sub 50C temps hashing 2k on Vega 56s? Are you blowing freezing air on them or something? I'm at 68-70C doing 2k at room temperature and with a 120mm 5 fan array cooling.
I am using the Raijintech Morpheus II coolers. I will say this about Vega thermal grease after cracking 9 of them apart. Only one seemed to have good, fresh thermal grease. The other 8, which were brand new, had dried crappy looking thermal grease; sometimes it was applied quite thick, sometimes it was very thin and did not quite cover the GPU/HBCC. This is very different from when I was opening up RX 480s. The thermal grease was uniformly very good across every batch that I opened. I suspect that some of the different experiences are related to sub-part thermal grease, or how it was applied. But taking apart the Vega is not completely simple. PM if interested. And it is cold here in NY, which helps.

Hi, I managed to get the MSI X370 GAMING CARBON with 4GPU VEGA 56. I want to upgrade now my configuration, i will try for sure give a try with 6GPU, but i wonder anyone try with more GPU? (i don't find the detail of the motherboard GPU limitation)
Yes, I have that board and it works fine with more than 4 Vegas. But I had to update to Fall Creators Update from the Windows site (1709). And I never enable 4G decoding on these MSI boards. You need 4G enabled on the Asus boards, but on the MSI X370, I don't know what the hell 4G does expect cause headaches.

I find that Ryzen builds do better in situations like Cast + XMR-STAK-cpu at the same time, or Cast + EWBF. Other than that, try lowering intensity for the Nvidia cards.
8 Vegas seems to be max that a few people have reported.
Microtech has the Ryzen 1800X for $299, that price is live now at Microtech stores. Good price.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I remember when I setup my Rx470 rx570 rigs - The Mobo I used, MSI Game Z170A, required a Skylake CPU and people who tried to use Kaby Lake had a huge amount of problems.
Any MB that suppports Skylake should be able to work with Kaby Lake - though many of the older 1151 boards need a BIOS update to do so, which can be a Catch-22 type mess. Kaby Lake was not a noticeable upgrade from Skylake - VERY small gains in general - and the Mickey$loth refusal to support Kaby Lake on anything older than Win10 makes Kaby Lake somewhat problematical (LINUX supports Kaby Lake, and many MB MANUFACTURERS support Kaby Lake on 7 despite Mickey$loth because THEY know where the market is at). That vegamining blog has quite a bit of useful information, and some links to more. Not a bad place to start. I do not believe my issue is related to compatibility of my CPU and Motherboard. However, I am going to try switching my Motherboard tonight from Asrock B250 K4 to Asrock H110 BTC+. My windows crashed this afternoon and won't come back on. It keeps trying to auto repair but it cant for some reason. Anyway this has prompted me to startover, again, but with a different Motherboard and I am going to use the 150 gb oldschool hdd unfortunately I think its only 5400 rpm but should still work and provide enough virtual memory to run 6 vegas. The SSD I have is only 60 gb unfortunately... When you find yourself in Windows "Auto Repair" hell, reboot, get to advanced options, choose startup options, reboot and hit "4" to boot up in safe mode. That will let you DDU your display drivers and reinstall, or at least allow you to check what is going on.

Familiar with L-4500 and 4000B. The fans those came with were crap, so no biggie there. Price seems high -- check Walmart. Walmart was cheaper than NewEgg on the 4500, believe it or not.

Thanks. I was able to edit that batch file and it's working well enough. I seems to hang and have a few errors when I've tried to execute it though. Like one time it disabled the cards, but then only re-enabled one of them. It doesn't happen every time, but I'll keep working at it to see if it's on my end.
I'm still running at full speed now after a whole day of mining. I have nicehash and a couple nvidia cards on this board, but if I run any of them it kills the speed on castxmr. It reallys sucks, but it appears you gotta keep your AMD cards on a dedicated board running just one algorithm if you have Vega's. Every time any other nicehash window pops up I notice the decline.
This is disappointing because I have an ASUS B250 Mining Expert board in the mail right now and sold my Biostar to my friend. It supports "19" cards so I was hoping to be able to throw all my cards onto this one board.
How many Vega's have people successfully ran on one machine? Most builds I see comprise of only 4-6 Vega cards. <snip>

I loaded the Regedit changes into the machine and now it wont mine. I'm going to switch to my h110 BTC+ motherboard and start all over.
Which Regedit changes? If you are loading softpowerplay Reg mods that expect a Vega 64, and you have a Vega 56 and you have not flashed it with a Vega 64 equivalent, that would cause problems. Earlier I had asked if my are not flashed if the softpowerplay would work on the vega 56 and you said it would. I do not see any softpowerplay specific to nonflashed vega 56. Unless I am missing something. Try this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2002025.msg22334966#msg22334966And if you don't want to try that, or have issues with the site, then: It is easy to flash Vega 56 with the equivalent Vega 64 bios and you can and should save your original Vega 56 bios with ATIflash 2.77 available at Techpowerup downloads. If you do that and restart, whatever Vega 64 softpowerplay mods you have found are more likely to work. Sorry for all the newb questions. I feel dumb trying to set this up. Its better to flash the cards for hashes and power but I'm nervous lol it's okay. If you are going to change the bios, always, always start by saving your current stock Vega 56 bios and ATIFlash makes that very easy to do. Do NOT use GPU-Z to save your bios; use ATIFlash.

My rig eventually just starts reporting 0 sols and looping that with listing GPUs temps. Is there a way to auto restart when this happens and if so what do I add to the bat? Thanks in advance.
Yes, I think there is. Go here: https://vegamining.blogspot.co.uk/Check out the free script. With what I think would be minor editing, you could adapt that to EWBF. Take a look. XMR-STAK and EWBF work pretty much the same way on displaying output to the http port of your choosing.

Hi R0mi, thanks for linking the page. I've gone through the page and can still only get five out of the six Vega 64s working. Same situation, I get five running and when I try to add the sixth I get the BSOD. Ideas? Windows 10 updated. Ideas?
i wasted 4 hours to this yesterday on a z170 msi carbon gaming, i can only get 5 vegas running then i add a 6th and BSOD.. BUT i can get 6 running vegas running with a rx480 in slot 1.. I've got four on there right now - no issues. Ordered another 2 vegas last night so we'll see if I can get 6 running, seems the more you add the more issues people have.
Be aware this board requires three additional power connectors. 2 molex and 1 sata and supposedly three different cables. Though, from what I've read you can skip the extra sata, and use one molex to power both additional molex's on the board. That kinda caught me off guard.
this worries me, keep us posted I can get it to recognize all 6 vegas. However, it gives me error 12 on one of them and I cannot determine why the 5th doesn't run. It's very frustrating. I followed the guide but I am only pulling about 1450 h/s right now on each card. redNow suggest 16GB per Vega in your System's Page file. Have you tried that? What is your page file size?

Excuse me for being a newbie, I am pretty tech and hardware literate, but when it comes to creating batch files and software coding I've had practically no exposure beyond some basic HTML for websites. I found this: https://pastebin.com/Q0rGa0QS I think that's a complete batch file that I'm looking for, but I'm still trying to figure out how to properly edit it to function completely automatically with castxmr. It's set up to run with xmrstak. I got it to work and it starts castxmr, but it doesn't load my payment address when it starts and it also doesn't restart on it's own when the hash falls. You create a separate Start-Cast .bat file with your payment address (see the Cast thread for running the --help command). Then you change one line in the PasteBin file: FROM THIS: start "XMR-STAK Unified" xmr-stak.exe --config config.txt CHANGE TO THIS: start Start-Cast.bat (or whatever you named your Start-Cast .bat file) The PasteBin file points to your Start-Cast .bat file, that's all you have to do.

I followed this guide exactly, only with 4 cards per rig, and it works perfectly. Highly recommended. For the sake of anyone reading this later, the reddit guide has been superseded by this: https://vegamining.blogspot.co.uk/That is not my work, and it is not the definitive Vega guide, but it is close. I think UK blogspot/circusdad does a better job explaining OverDriveNTool, and its associated .ini file and how this all relates to SoftPowerPlay mods. And he explains how to automate several steps into one .bat file. And if you look into Windows tasksch[eduler], you can automate the whole process on reboot. The UK blogspot guide is a bit terse about reducing power draw, but once you understand that you can edit the OverDriveNTool .ini profile or profiles, without having to make permanent changes to your SoftPowerPlay mod, you are well on your way. Editing the one line in the "StartMining" example .bat file (point it to your Start-Cast .bat file) allows this to be applied to Cast, though the tutorial is focused on XMR-STAK.

>>>Mind you it is set between a 60gb sad which is at 30 gb and an old-school 160gb hdd set at 30 gb <<<
Think I just found your problem. Can you not split virtual memory? If that's the case woukd it be better to switch everything to the 150gb even though it's an old one? I would try switching over all virtual memory to the 150GB drive. I think splitting VM is causing your errors. But try it and see.

I was looking at your guide and every time I disable and reenable card 4 it shows back up with a code 43 error. Oddly enough card 5 also shows up with a code 43 error when I disable and renewable card 4.
It's not my guide; the imgur screenshots are mine, but not the blogspot. You need to provide more detail. It sounds like you are disabling/enabling manually, which is fine starting out, but you will want to automate that when you have everything working. I assume you have Windows 10, I assume you went to the Microsoft website and downloaded/installed the Fall Creators Update. I assume you have set your system page file to a very large value. How much physical RAM in your system? If you ever had Nvidia cards on that motherboard, use DDU to strip out Nvidia driver stuff. Take a look at the imgur screenshots that I posted. I followed the imgur pics and set all the crossfire and ulps settings to 0. I have windows 10 fall creators edition I have 8 gb ram. I can get 4 cards out of 6 running although not optimally yet. 1 keeps telling me it's a code 12 not enough resources and the other says its working properly but overdriventool and claymore do not recognize it.the enable and disable issue has stopped. Never had an nvidia card and I ran did before starting the guide. Go into Device Manager. Go to View menu: Show Hidden Devices. For any display driver that is grayed out, uninstall it. Do the same for Monitors, then check under System. If it is grayed out, uninstall it. Restart. I've never seen code 12 while installing Vegas, so I don't know what you are hitting. What size HD/SSD? And what is your System Page file set to?

I just started and following the blogspot walkthrough. Just did the software reg edit.
About to install the XMR miner Stak - any reason to use another?
Only have 3 of four cards setup right now - I somehow just realized I have a fourth I need to add in. Nerves!! Lol
You should be fine. If you get the three stable, add in the fourth. Visit the Imgur link first and glance at that.
