181  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Silk Road Crash of 20** ...? on: November 10, 2012, 07:27:51 PM
Seems expensive.... 14 btc for a g of blow?

If the cocaine is as pure as they state it is, it's a reasonably good deal.  Considering most street coke that costs around $60 a gram is about 15-30% purity, if they are really selling 70% purity stuff for $130 it's reasonable value. That's a big IF though, cocaine is notorious for people saying it's the best stuff ever because they've never had anything but total shit before, plus dealers lie about the quality of their drugs as a general rule.

I don't have any personal experience with SIlk Road coke because those days are behind me, but if I was a cocaine user I probably would check it out. Even if it's not as good as they say it is, it's almost certainly going to be lots better than whatever you can get locally, unless you live in La Paz or you have incredible connections.

Maybe for new years ill get some and drink for once........

Be careful if you choose Blackmarket Reloaded. I've heard there are a lot of scams on there.

I got a PM response from AugustoCroppo

I am not ashamed to admire Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler.

My grandfather was fascist and I am proud to bear his surname.

There you go, ladies and gentlemen. There you go.

The user augustocroppo has a long history in this forum of violent, racist statements.

Let us review the past posts of the user.

I would strongly urge people not to give this person money.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97215.0

Quote
This topic has been moved to Trashcan because this user has a history of threatening to injure/kill Zhou Tong, and was attempting to gather the funds to do so.

Why not?

Here, augustocroppo argues in the defense of collecting money to kill a 17 year old boy. He sees nothing wrong with threatening to injure or kill a minor, and he sees nothing wrong with gathering the funds to do so. As we can see, he is so morally repugnant that he can't even comprehend why someone wouldn't want to collect money to kill a young boy.

As if that wasn't vile enough, he then goes on to deny the Holocaust and speak out in favor of Adolf Hitler.

I do not feel embarrassed to be associated with Adolf Hitler

I do not support fictional Jewish storytelling.

I was as shocked to read this as you no doubt are. What kind of person would speak like this? It's an insult to our fathers and grandfathers who fought against the Nazis.

Further Anti-Semitism can be seen here, where he begins grilling a Jewish man on his ethnicity.

What are your origins? Your parents or grandparents migrated to Israel after Second World War or they were already established on the region when the state of Israel was formed?

This man is a Fascist in every sense of the word:

If rules suddenly become more strictly enforced when the person who breaks them criticizes the private business practices of the administrator, then we have an unfair situation, wouldn't you agree?

No, I would not.

The quotes speak for themselves.

185  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: PatrickHarnett on: November 08, 2012, 03:18:22 PM
But I think we all agree that a person who borrows some Bitcoins fully intending to pay them back but then can't pay them back (say they lost their job) deserves a scammer tag.

So why on earth doesn't Harnett then?

I thought your argument was that Harnett's lenders are equally to blame for any problems they have experienced due to his default because they should have done more due diligence before lending to him.

Surely that would apply in this case too?

In my opinion, a person who borrows a handful of coins and then can't pay them back due to unforeseen circumstances is much more deserving of trust, compassion and leniency than someone who starts up a commercial enterprise that is based on borrowing coins that goes into default based on poor investments

It's Harnett that should be called to account for his lack of due diligence. He was in the business of lending out other people's money for his own profit, and therefore should be held to a higher standard.

I've made numerous requests for moderation and sent PMs to moderators that have been ignored.

It's clear now that this thread has been allowed to exist because I criticized Theymos in another thread.

This forum is run by a vindictive child.
188  Other / Off-topic / Re: CharlieContent, the Shill on: November 07, 2012, 03:53:33 AM
*Maybe* so, but I looked and I said "I didn't realize.... pretty much promotes" that's not particularly harsh wording, so I will let it stand for now.  I prefer not to edit my comments, but if something changes, I will!

I read a LOT of threads.  Really.  I read because I am interested, but also to get an understanding of the bitcoin community on this forum in an effort to stay ahead of the curve.  So far I haven't lost any bitcoins to scams, but I think it is only a matter of time until I am taken in.  I would hope that others on this forum would be sympathetic when that happens, not gleeful or full of superior hind-sight related comments.

I'm not here to make friends or have fun, but I do find a lot of the content here highly entertaining.  This is a "hobby" website in many respects, funny stuff happens but I don't think griefing is funny while you seem to.

I think threads like this are always going to lead to misunderstandings because they take comments out of context, mixing serious points with things I said as a joke.

I hope you don't lose any Bitcoins to scams.

I feel sympathy for those who have lost coins.  I realise that sometimes the stakes have been pretty high for people and they have lost a lot of money. I'm maybe not as sympathetic as I should be when the scams are completely obvious, like Pirate. I just don't understand how anyone could lack the critical faculties needed to spot such an obvious scam, and then ignore all the warnings too. I think it's just stupidity and lack of common sense on an incredible scale, and I guess feeling that way is a barrier to true empathy. Still, I feel sorry for them and I'd hate to think that anyone lost anything they couldn't afford to lose.

I also can see that losing a large number of coins to a scam would be a real personal tragedy for some people, and could really mess up their self esteem. I'd hate to think that my comments were taken seriously and contributed to any psychological effect like that, I  don't really think they did, judging by the responses I got, but who's to say? You took what I said seriously and I thought it was a patently ridiculous piece of comic theatre. Hopefully no one else did, but I suppose I should be more careful, and I will in future. I've never written anything on these forums with a desire to make someone miserable.

To everyone who lost coins in various Ponzi schemes: I am glad you had your money taken from you. You would only have spent it unwisely. I hope that you have been left at such a severe financial disadvantage that you are unable to look after your children and they are taken from you by the state so they can be looked after by people with better critical faculties than your own. If you don't yet have children, I hope that the financial loss leaves you stinking and in rags so you are unable to reproduce. Your genes should not be passed on to humanity.

If you wrote this, you *are* promoting bad behavior.  If you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem, if you don't really care well that's (I guess) innocent enough but being glad is really a whole other level of sick.  You sound like a realtor, lol.

And here was I thinking you had a sense of humour! Don't you think that's a bit ridiculous and over the top for anyone to have said seriously? "Stinking in rags"? "Genes should not be passed on to humanity"? C'mon! Don't be ridiculous.

But even if I did mean all that from the bottom of my cold, evil heart, it still isn't "promoting thievery"

I think if you expect an apology you have another thing coming.

Really? That's a shame, because you have accused me of doing something with no evidence, based on your misunderstanding of quotes taken out of context and a joke. I think you definitely owe me an apology.

You seem to think you can say whatever you want here:

You seem to think that you can make accusations where you drag someone's name through the dust and associate them with stealing with absolutely no evidence. It's a pretty serious accusation, considering there are thefts here every day. I have never promoted thievery or condoned stealing. Ever. You are a dick for suggesting that I did. There are enough people here who will take your ridiculous statement as fact for it to damage my reputation. There are so many scams here, and so much fear of scamming, all it takes is one idiot like you throwing around accusations with no evidence for people to put 2 + 2 together to make 3.

Quote
Guys, the language is often harsh in this forum. This is scary for the newbies. Can we have more respect for each other?

Go fuck yourself, you cunt.

(This was to a relatively innocent seeming person with <20 posts.)

Hahaha. Man have you had a sense of humour bypass since we last spoke? I just don't think you get my dry, British sense of humour.

You were friendly enough to me, when I complimented you on what was (admittedly) a pretty hilarious hijinks.

I was friendly enough to take the time to repeat the joke to you even though you, a stranger, contacted me out of nowhere you mean. I'm friendly enough to anyone, unless I am being faux-harsh to them as a joke. But as you can see above, I'm usually so over the top harsh that I thought anyone would be able to see it for the joke that it is. I guess I have too much faith in people to not take everything at face value.

The only people I am not friendly to are those who try to damage my reputation with no evidence. At least everyone knows that Croppo is insane, I'm not worried about his gibberish, you seem reasonable and I'm worried people might take what you are saying at face value without looking into it themselves. I guess that is just the way it has to be, but I think it's pretty unfair for you to go running your mouth off with lies at my expense.

I'm not at all surprised that you would have positive feelings for someone who said you made a funny

Well, y'know, I thought we shared a sense of humour. Haha that's pretty funny now. I also didn't think you were just going to come in to this weird thread and start attacking me for no reason with a load of lies about me "promoting thievery". Not cool man.

Ahh I fucking love Bitcoin but this forum leaves a bad taste in my mouth sometimes.

Also

I've noticed this guy is decidedly unfriendly

I was friendly enough when you PMed me last week wasn't I?

You are a dick chuckles!

That's the last time I share a joke with you! You know I actually thought you were cool, I am disappointed.
191  Other / Off-topic / Re: CharlieContent, the Shill on: November 07, 2012, 02:32:00 AM
You are denying the quotes above then?

There is nowhere in the quotes above that I "promote thievery"

If you are referring to the quote where I say "Stealing Bitcoin isn't a crime" then you have seriously misunderstood it. I was referring to the legal status of stealing Bitcoins, not the moral status. You should go to the thread in question and read the quote in context. It was in the legal forum, in the middle of a debate about the legal status of Bitcoin. The truth is that stealing Bitcoins has not been criminalized by any government. That was what I was talking about. You can read more about that in the thread I am referring to.

If you are referring to another quote that you have misunderstood then feel free to refer to it and I can it explain to you.

I do not condone the theft of Bitcoin. Discussion of the legal status of Bitcoin is not promotion of thievery. I have never "promoted thievery" here or anywhere else.

I think you owe me an apology.

192  Other / Off-topic / Re: CharlieContent, the Shill on: November 07, 2012, 02:11:16 AM
You are a dick chuckles!

And you can't read, buddy. Please quote where I promote thievery.

I am absolutely blown away that someone could read all that gibberish this idiot has posted and actually take that from it.

And if you want to know his motives for posting it, just look at his posting history. I humiliated him in a debate we had, and this is his revenge, such as it is.

It contains absolutely nothing of substance, other than the fact I broke the dumb rules of an employment contract from an old employer (so what?) and that I like sex and gambling (again, big deal!)

There is absolutely nowhere that I "pretty much promote thievery". I have never done any such thing. Even Croppo, in his madness, hasn't even drawn any weird conclusion like that. You must have seriously misunderstood his post, go read it again.
193  Other / Off-topic / Re: CharlieContent, the Shill on: November 07, 2012, 02:08:36 AM
Haha Augusto you're a sad little inadequate aren't you? I'm sorry that I humiliated you in a debate to such an extent that you have chosen me as some kind of enemy. If I had known that I would hurt your feelings then I wouldn't have engaged with you. I just didn't think a grown man of 34 years old could be so sensitive.

I'm not sure what is wrong with you. Maybe you haven't had much luck with women in your life. Maybe you don't have the life you hoped you would have at 34. Maybe you are just suffering from general social ineptitude. You clearly have a lot of time on your hands anyway. It's ok Augusto, it's ok. I don't mind. You can take it out on me. I'm a compassionate guy. I don't mind acting as a release valve for someone who is less fortunate than myself. Hate me if it makes you feel better.

My advice to you would be to let go though. I know that I made you feel small, but life is too short for this nonsense, don't you think? You are getting yourself all worked up about me, doing research into me and posting a big crazy thread, and it's obviously because you are hurting. And you are only hurting yourself more by not letting it go. The type of revenge you are taking is like drinking poison yourself and expecting me to die.

The internet isn't serious business Augusto. The Bitcoin forums do not matter. The thread you have posted is evidence of your own lack of sanity and little else.

Let go. You live in a beautiful country. I have had some incredible times there, so I know myself.  Go out and enjoy life. Relax and open your heart to happiness.
194  Other / Meta / Re: Pirate PMs on: November 07, 2012, 02:06:54 AM
- I don't know if BCB has any interest in this, but I think that publishing the PMs with the sensitive info of innocent people removed (names, exact BTC amounts, addresses, passwords, etc.) would be of great historical interest/value. This would be, for example, a great resource for any academic research of Ponzi schemes.

If you decide to do this, hit me up for a sizable ($500+) donation. I'd personally love to read them and I'm sure lots of others would too.

The info would have to be released publicly and have clear rules for redactions (I.E. only names, amounts, addresses and passwords should be redacted and all other data released with no exceptions)

Thanks.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins at the British Museum on: November 06, 2012, 07:34:31 PM
Yes, it would be really nice if next to the exhibit would stand:

Since this coin has been displayed here it received donations increasing it's worth 10 Times.

And a basic explanation how that works.

That would be awesome.

All my coins are in cold storage away from home, but next time I end up with some coins in a hot wallet for whatever reason then I'll send a few here.

Why give it to BCB? Either release it publicly or not at all.

If you have reservations about releasing the PM logs publicly, then you should have the same reservations for releasing them to a third party.
