Good day,

I'm a totally newbie into this technical stuffs about setting up nodes, etc. because it's more far away from my course field but anyways is there someone here who can help me to understand the basics of setting up nodes and using linux or atleast can you site some useful articles or online course that may help me.

Well I tried to do searching on my own but like what I've said I'm totally newbie I don't even know if that article/website is a legit one or is really giving me the real information.

Thank you  Smiley

I learned Unix from a book written by sumitabha das. I am not able to find that exact book but below book available from that author only.
https://www.amazon.com/Your-UNIX-Linux-Ultimate-Guide/dp/0073376205

Visit your local library there might be plenty of books. Have you already installed Unix/Linux ? . Installation  is very first step to begin. You need to practice because reading the only command from book will not help you.
There are so many variant of each command that you will not find in the book also. If you want to learn comprehensively then you should make make habit of using "man <command_name>" in your machine where <command_name> is name of command you learned from book.

1806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 03, 2018, 03:59:00 AM
Hi there, thanks for your help topic.
Sometimes when i made a google search and there were some results linked to a bitcointalk topic. But when i clicked on that links i couldn't access as it said this topic is limit to you. So i want to ask are there limit topics which only some specific people can access? If there are, could you tell somethings about that topics, if you have the right.

I think, might be that board is on your Ignore list,  You need to revisit your profile and uncheck the Board in which the topic is posted.

1807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 02, 2018, 05:08:33 AM
This might be a dumb question, but, I just want to ask how to bookmark a post?
Or are there any option in Bitcointalk regarding bookmarking a post?

Thank you.

You can bookmark a post in your browser by clicking on that post (clicking on that particular post will generate the path to that post) Now that linked can be bookmarked.

I am not sure that we get any option of bookmarking a particular post in bitcointalk. If it is for topic then you can put topic on "watch" by clicking "watch".
You can visit your "watchlist" for all the topics you put in watch. Clear this watchlist time to time because I guess all the topics that are visited by user are added to this "watchlist" by default.

Hi

How  should I read modlog for banned user?
Since Search function do not work , Do you guys read it manually or is there any other shortcut to read/extract information from it?

Control+F and paste user id.

Thanks, A very simple solution that I missed.
I have one more question.

What is exact difference between "Nuke user" vs "Autoban user".
1809  Other / Meta / Re: Another nullius is rising! on: July 02, 2018, 04:24:24 AM
Examples, please. This doesn't seem right.
I guess he's talking about Lauda and aTriz.

aTriz and Lauda just got merit!
I was assuming that there would be multiple cases which would not be found within the first few weeks of merit implementation.

Unfortunately, since this is not the case, the degree of significance from r1's comment has dropped dramatically.

Do you want  multiple occurrence from DT members . I just want to point that nobody (other DT members) condone that behavior that  time ,it simply implied that every DT member was ok.

Anyway I never investigated merit abuse (I do not rememberme reporting any Merit abuser) but I click "Report to Moderator" if it look spam and also report copy-paster in LoyceV thread.

PS: It is always on people  to agree or disagree but I personally think upper limit of 50 by a user in a single post is bit high and putting no limit on single post can accumulate is somewhat ridiculous. Enough threads created, Many people ranked up in this system, Lets give a break on these Merit discussions/threads.

nessie.io is a new exchange announced by MoneyPot/BitcoinRush, and the merits come from the owner accounts/people affiliated mostly.
wouldn't this be called 'merit abuse'?
I'm surprised that there isn't any DT1/2 giving that user a red negative feedback yet
now, at least we can see some sort of connections between those accounts, alts or just 'friends' Tongue

edit: annnd there comes darkstar, running to protect their buddies actions, as usual, clockwork
does his reply sound like defending that user's action to you? he just stated the obvious
by looking at the post history of related accounts, you can simply dis/agree to that statement

How come this is Merit abuse? DT members sometime in past themselves given in excess of 10+ merit to ANN/Bounty threads.
When they justified there merit that time, how they will justify tagging of this.
This is not first time that ANN thread received  so many merits.

When Merit System introduced I made the same point that there should be a upper cap to the number of Merit points that a single post can accumulate. But look like forum did not liked the idea.
1812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin transport - please explain your understand of the transport mechanism on: July 01, 2018, 10:05:21 PM

Please explain your understanding of the process that takes a bitcoin transaction from an entry in a spender's wallet, to an entry in a receiver's wallet

Since this question is about bitcoin transaction so I will like to start first with bitcoin.
First I will clear the misconception that something like Bitcoin really exist in system. What really exist in system(blockchain) is Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO). So these bitcoin or UTXO exist in blockchain.
So when we do transfer /transaction then the UTXO will transfer from sender wallet to the receiver wallet. The transfer of these UTXO will be governed by the set of rules like the sum of all inputs must be equal to or greater than the sum of all outputs. If the inputs exceed the outputs, the difference is considered a transaction fee, and is redeemable by whoever first includes the transaction into the block chain.
(A special kind of transaction, called a coinbase transaction, has no inputs. It is created by miners, and there is one coinbase transaction per block .)

All set of rules can  be read at:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_rules#.22tx.22_messages

Once the transaction is valid ( A fullnode is able to  validate the validity of the transactions). This transaction will include in the mempool (memory pool).
In the Memory pool , it will wait for getting picked up by a miner. The miner who is first to find the solution (Coinbase transaction) will include the transaction on the block. (High transaction fees will be incentive for miner to include the transactions). Once this transaction included in the block then it will become part of the the blockchain and the UTXO are now successfully transferred from sender to receiver. (or transfer of bitcoins).

Can I ask a question?
There are a rule: Dont reply info for bounty/aidrop application unless they require. But this airdrop https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4547440.0 require post proof of completion in the ANN thread. So will I get ban? Thank you.

This is against of forum rule bumping the thread by forcing people. They should be ban. Even you will not ban but may be you will be taged if saw some DT due to bumping. Better avoid this kind of airdrop.  There is many legit airdrop you can participate. BTW I will open a thread about them with investigation.

You can also be banned, Sometime Mod trash these kind of threads and nuke all the user replying to it. As Collcryptovator pointed tagging by DT member is also possible. Trust in this forum is not moderated and if you once tagged then only that guy (now you are in discretion of the sole judgement of that user) can remove that tag.

@Pharmacist. You forget to tag peachcoco , that is the account of OP that he used in buying accounts.
Name is clear in in image "https://imgur.com/QUQGtDn" but I created one more copy below, so that evidence will remain even if OP tries to remove link now.

Please ban user "Shopping Coin Official"

This user copied my post in the same thread. My post.

If miner stop mining then there will be no value to bitcoin. Miner not only mining new bitcoins but also confirming the transactions too.
If there is no miner, than no transaction will happen.
In others words, that day Bitcoin will not have any value, because if I say ,somebody want to sell it cheap but transaction from his wallet to seller wallet will not happen and then why should pay for something that you will not receive.

1816  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Second discussion about Bitcoin with merit awards - the shutdown of mining rigs. on: June 30, 2018, 05:42:41 AM
what if all miner bitcoin stops working does not generate or distributes bitcoin for one day if it could affect bitcoin price?

there aren't a small number of miners like 5 miner to stop mining all of a sudden! there are thousands of miners who are mining bitcoin, possibly more. they won't just stop all at once and out of the blue for no reason.
these "what if"  questions need to have some reality to it so that they can be answered. otherwise you will be entering the realm of science fiction.

in reality what can happen is that price can go down so that mining profit can fall so miners start to go away. then difficulty will come down so it becomes profitable again. even if price falls to $1 and a lot of miners leave still difficulty will come down and mining will become easy. until you can mine bitcoin with your computer again. so at the end of the day if all the miners leave you can start your PC and mine bitcoin with it. so it won't die.
in short miners don't leave the price takes effect. price changes (up or down) then miners come in or go out.

I am not sure if difficulty is tied with block number or it is tied with the amount of hash power generated. But if I believe the post of "Pursuer" then I can imply that drop in price cause drop in hash rate (as miners moved away). Now difficulty decrease and mining will become again profitable.
1817  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to add any my Gellary Photo on Bitcointalk post? on: June 28, 2018, 05:55:09 PM
I want use a Photo On my Bitcointalk post. But how to upload my on my post?
What do you mean by Gallery Photo? Did you mean to show bunches of pictures one after another like we see on website's photo Gallery?
It does not work like that.

You can add photo/picture only. Just normal pics.

Code:
[img]PUT THE URL OF THE PICTURE[/img]

Best practice is: Upload your picture in https://imgur.com then get the image URL and paste it in-between the

I am not sure if you can use photo as a Jr. Member. Hope some other members will clear it later.

I think Jr, Member can post Photos. By Gallery photo, he meant the photos stored in Mobile phone Gallery (Android phone terminology).

OP you cannot directly post photos from your phone. First you need to upload in imgur.com. Once uploaded in imgur.com , then you will find various shareable link for that image. You need to copy the link that will be lying under the heading "Linked BBCode (message boards) "

Now put that link in between img tag to display picture as mdayonliner explained above.

PS: Make sure ,you are selecting the BBCode link for that image out of all the available options there.
1818  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty Manager Account Banned on: June 28, 2018, 05:41:30 PM
Zoonosis is another bounty manager who works in the industry and we collaborate and work together occasionally. He allowed me to use this account for the query. We also have employees who use the accounts. I was not even aware of the merit being given to the dentit account (nor do I know what merit does?)

I did not find anything in rules that says against account sharing but don't you think that account sharing is wrong.
Zoonosis can ask question on behalf of you but you are directly accessing Zoonosis account here.
You are saying you have employees that also shares the account. This raises very important question, whose activities caused the ban?
Yours activity or your employees activity that can have access to both the accounts. Do Zoonosis account require the same ban too ? Ban in this forum are not limited to account only but it is on the user and all its associated accounts.

Mods : Can we put some guidelines on Account sharing or is I am missing something?

Thank you, guys.

Bump! Up to the top you go.

A little bump from my side too for support of your application.
Now this topic have enough of good response generated.
