We hope that the VAR rule will help and mitigate most of the problematic choices.

As you can see, we try to implement some kind of change as soon as we see a problem, with some things we'll be spot on and some will be shit and will need to be changed.
In theory this looks like a really good solution so we hope you'll like it.
1802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 29, 2023, 07:27:45 AM
I actually really hate posting in the same thread back to back but the activity here requires it sometimes, and just to say, first time in my life I'm following U19 football minute by minute, so well done Cro2 for making me waste my evening on TEXT commentary football haha.

I was in a real bind here. France scored the 9th goal of the night with 10 minutes to go, which took me 1 point clear against vd309 as I selected "9 or 10 goals" ... on the other hand, I had a 10/1 acca that hit only if Italy won. But for them to have done that, they'd have needed to score 2 goals, taking my point away and giving this round's advantage to vd309 who picked 11+ goals for his question.

In the end, I actually feel much, much, happier to win this point, rather than the $100 I'd have won if Italy managed the comeback. See how much I prioritise this league?

Back to the Joker issue -- I want to clarify my view is that that it is a very minor thing, and we must see the cost-benefit. It would add complexity to Cro2's job, and while I personally enjoy the idea of them working hard every night to make us happy, I would rather seamless competition overall to sacrifice the small likelihood of the Joker being legitimately useful (you know, the way I prefer VAR to be gone and suffer the rare consequence rather than put up with VAR delays every game).

Happens to me too when I have different outcomes in BSFL and on my tickets.
For 100$ though, I guess I'd pick a winning ticket Grin

Regarding Jokers - it isn't that much work to be honest. It can also help if you realize you submitted incomplete answers.
We'll think on how to implement it best and let you know, maybe even before the next round.

Thought he was going to Newcastle earlier before now, what changed? That's a great addition to the Spur team tbh.

Newcastle got Tonali I guess.
They're not that similar as players but both are midfielders and I guess that Howe decided he needed a controller more than another offensive-minded player.

I think both are good moves, from what I've seen of Tonali he'll fit really well in that team.
1804  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: June 29, 2023, 06:59:37 AM
I think it's quite ambitious to play Trent at midfield, not that he can't but it would be a big change. He has been a wing back that went ahead already, and last season he had a bit of a trouble with not caring about defense, he goes there but if someone tries to pass him, he is not there to recover, he just goes "oops I think I got past, well back to offense", so that means he will be more hyped to play ahead. But that also means you need a right back to replace him there which isn't an easy position to fill as well.

I do not know where they will find that player or who they will get but I think it's quite important to remember that we are not going to see someone who would be that easy to replace, Trent was amazing, they need another amazing person.

I think it looked great and would like to see more of it in the new season. He's one of the best passers in football and he gives us tremendous distributional quality when he plays more central.
City pushed Stones into midfield while in possession, we were pushing Trent - it is a bit unorthodox but it improved both teams drastically on the ball.

Thanks, Tsitsi - never disappoints.

I'm now in the lead vs dbshck, he's got Germany to win and they are 2-0 down so it's looking good for me. Some goals in the next 30 mins are needed in the Euros though, otherwise I'm gonna lose that one even before tonight's games.
1806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 28, 2023, 02:43:59 PM
Tennis keeps shitting on our heads, eh?
Too important to leave out, really difficult to make questions 2 days in advance.

Regarding the changes to your answers - it would bring a massive amount of extra work. Right now you think you'd change it only when something like this happens, but if you had the opportunity you'd change 3 picks in every round just because you're insecure.

Maybe we can implement a system in which you get 3 changes per season - meaning that you can change one of the picks 3 times before the deadline.
It would be semi-fair, because in a question like this everybody would change, and the people that are left without changes would remain with incorrect picks.
Still, it's the same in tennis with Hawkeye - if you used all your challenges it doesn't matter anymore whether the ball's in or out - you cannot challenge it.

What do you think of such a system? Changes would have to be sent through PM to both of us.

Another thing I wanted to clarify, not sure if already: what if we're trying to submit answers in the final hour and Googledocs is down or sheet is inaccessible? Fair rules probably say you would be allowed to give an answer, but probably to send an answer in PM to Cro2? Failure to submit should be ruthless, right? No excuses for "no internet" and all that? Could be useful to figure out some additional rules on deadlines.

If that happens, just post in the thread or send a DM. Don't wait for last seconds though Grin

Use your heads, boys Grin
We could not compete for Mbappe even when we were chasing the title and going to CL finals, and that was before he signed the huge PSG deal.

We won't be in the CL and we have nowhere near enough money for that (both the transfer and the salary), even if you see a million links quoted from Mbappe's mother herself, it won't be happening.

1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: June 28, 2023, 07:09:00 AM
For me it depends on the total budget. If it's big enough, I'm for more paying spots - simply because it's more interesting for a bigger pool of players.

If a few get an early advantage and we have only 10 or so paying spots with a pool of 60 players, half of the league already quits before Boxing day.
Hitting a yellow cap statistically gives you less than 2% chance, so isn't that big of an incentive for these players.

Maybe some monthly rewards would keep people more interested? For example, best player for that month gets a 100$ freebet on top of the standard yellow cap rewards?

These would have to be calculated by hand, but it requires simply pulling data into Excel after every round - which isn't that much work. It still is manual work tho.
1809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 27, 2023, 07:40:50 PM
I don't feel that there's anything in the Kane to Bayern rumors. If he's to go anywhere, I feel it will be to United.

Considering what United needs, I'm really surprised that this didn't happen 3+ years ago. I respect Kane for staying, but he's really close to finishing his career without a single trophy.
Shame for such a great player, maybe that will ultimately be the deciding factor to finally leave Spurs.
1810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 27, 2023, 07:37:58 PM
If I was in Tsitsipas's place, I wouldn't play such a weak tournament before the Grand Slam.

It can only give you a false sense of security - and not winning that kind of tournament (which I feel will happen) will put even more pressure on him during Wimbledon.
1811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 27, 2023, 07:34:27 PM
as it is on endurance sports, Tour de France will start on weekend, and that could be a good question in three weeks, depend on what will go on during first two weeks
and it is probably biggest cycling event, bearing Olympic games
nevertheless, it is hard to set a question for that one, but at least it finishes on Sunday

missed first question, Georgia put me down on betting against Portugal, and now again because I had to put my answer on this question, going to put them as winners

Yup, I already have it marked. Will see how to frame the question though - but Tour de France will almost certainly be there.
If we have any cycling specialists (doubtful), now's your time to step up!

The spreadsheet is live.

We have hidden the answers from mv1986 and entebah because Coin_trader and LFC_Bitcoin failed to submit their answers.
To LFC_Bitcoin goes my apology - I tagged LTU_btc instead of him because I copypasted incorrectly. Still - a reminder from us is just that, a reminder.

Sorry to see you lose points boys - I hope in a few rounds we'll all be submitting on time.

Not sure why my name is mentioned here, I submitted my answers on Sunday and now I checked form again and it doesn't allows me to answer questions. Is it everything ok with my answers?

Hey, your answers are here. Sorry about that, must have been a c/p mistake.

Fair play to all that are waiting to submit, now I realize why. The Georgia game starts at 16:00 GMT, which gives you the 1st half for free.
This was not intentional, when we did the questions the start times were different, 18:00 GMT if I remember correctly.

This just shows that answering on Tuesday brings the most info - but carries some risks as well.
1814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: June 27, 2023, 02:15:31 PM
Great discussion, nice to hear all opinions. Keep it coming, we take it all into consideration.

Of course it ain't perfect, it will never be, we'll try to get as close to it as we can. So far we're having a lot of fun I'd say.

That said, here's the list of participants that did not submit their answers yet:
The deadline is 17:00 GMT and there's again a lot of questions that will be void for those that submit too late.

By the way, what are the conditions for me to take a place in Division 2?

Top 2 teams from Division 3A and 3B get promoted directly.
Also, teams 3 and 4 from each of these play a 1v1 decider for the 3rd promotion spot.

In total 6 teams will achieve promotion - 3 from A and 3 from B.

Regarding eSports - it's huge and will definitely be in the BSFL.
MMA is huge as well - we had 1 question and we do plan to have more.

The thing with MMA is that we're both clueless about it. Trofo explained it perfectly - there are multiple categories and the events are weirdly named so we can't google 'When is MMA world cup' - it doesn't work that way.
Croatian dude's fight wasn't important but let us know when something big is happening - we want to include more fighting sports.

...
Why don't some of you take that opportunity and give yourself an advantage? But it doesn't work that way since when I am making the questions and answering them I am in totally different states of mind. Try it and see for yourself.

I totally second this, you are free to suggest questions all the time.
Don't feel bad if we don't select it and just try again, there are many sports and many rounds to go.

We still did not have any snooker, cricket, golf.. - there are a lot of things happening and finding the right balance isn't really that easy Grin

I might have an idea on this, it's just going to be an extra work for you and cryptofrka, I suggest that you create a new form a perhaps 10 maximum entries of possible questions for the next round when publishing a new round questions, and there will also be a deadline for all submission maybe Friday, where users submitting the questions could be or not be anonymous, but will have to fill in a couple of criteria; like category the question fall under, starting date and ending date, is the event confirmed to hold or there is a possible of delay beyond the ending day of the week, then the question which should be at least 2 or more, you don't have to ask the questions verbatim, but it will bring new ideas of possible questions, and show another level of transparency from you guys.

It's better if you do it in the thread, maybe you get some merits as well and that way we can gauge the other participants interest with that kind of questions.
Also - by having it visible to all some dialogues on how to form the questions better might also occur. If we keep it to ourselves, we lose potential feedback from 50 people.

The spreadsheet has been updated with results, it is not official yet. Please recheck your duels and let us know in case of some mistakes.
Considering that I rated DOTA and don't know the short names for the teams, it is possible that I rated some of it incorrectly. I triple-checked though Grin

The freebet winners are:

Division 1
Harkorede - 40$ - from Round 1 vs darxiaomi
buwaytress - 40$ - from Round 2 vs Igebotz
jayce - 40$ - from Round 3

Division 2
slaman29 - 30$ - from Round 2 vs leea-1334 and notblox1
slaman29 and mv1986 will have a H2H duel in Round 4 for 30$ freebet

Division 3A
bullrun2020bro - 10$ - from Round 1 vs Coin_trader
bullrun2020bro and Saint-loup will have a H2H duel in Round 4 for 10$ freebet

Division 3B
vivekdhyani1, Omikfuse and Chi20 will have a H2H duel in Round 4 for 10$ freebet

Hey fellas, sorry for the absence during the last few days. Trofo had it covered Smiley

Ayo, may I ask how will the last question be graded for Bonta? His answer was simply "Glamin Gladiators" I guess as outright winner. Will we get a point for final if the GG actually get there, or not because he didn't explicitily predicted them as finalists and you are allowed to predict a winner that you didn't pick as finalist?
As it is now I get a guaranteed win if anything other than a jamaican win by exactly 1 goal but I can get a draw if jamaica wins by exactly 1 goal and depending how the last question will be graded for Bonta.

It was graded both as the semifinalist and the winner – it's only logical that we take this answer as the winning team, and if it's the winning team it has to reach the semifinals too.

Considering the submission was not entirely correct, we could have introduced a penalty for both Bonta and DireWolfM14 – they inserted only 1 team but did get at least part of it correctly so we decided not to in this round since we also penalized only completely wrong answers in previous rounds. The same is for famososMuertos who has Alcaraz as Halle winner and he played in Queen’s tournament.

Be more careful guys, for now we are introducing penalties only if you are totally off the mark in your answers – but these cases are borderline and will probably be penalized from next season onwards.

The questions for Round 4 are here!

The deadline is standard, Tuesday June 27th, 17:00 GMT.

Not much happening but we didn't feel like skipping the round, there's still some excitement to be had with U-21 Euros, Copa, tennis and Formula 1.

We will rate this week's results as soon as the DOTA match finishes, it's currently 2-2 in a best out of 5 matchup.

I have to admit that Bublik winning Halle is a huge surprise.
Yes, the draw was lucky, but that tournament had a really strong lineup.

I'm really curious to see how he'll do in Wimbledon. Same for Alcaraz - who dominantly won in Queens but still won't be among the favorites.
