1801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 04, 2023, 04:59:49 PM
Many of the community members from the "Collectibles" section have actually met physically and had a cup of coffee and good laughs. Then again recently a well known member scammed their fellow members as well from this niche group. So you cannot really trust anybody on the internet and real life. Or in other words, you have to know how to keep your money safe.

Bitcoin is not a religion, it is a currency and should be kept limited to that much as far as attachment to it is considered. Just like money everyone is trying to steal bitcoin's because of its added anonymity.

It is thus safer to transact online but then we do have fintech conferences where fellow crypto users might end up meeting.
1802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The level of impact of FTX crash on Your portfolio? on: February 02, 2023, 11:04:17 AM
I will be wrong if am to say that the FXT exchange saga didn't affect the altcoins that I held in my portfolio. Although before the FXT exchange saga, my coins were depreciating already but the moment the FXT clash happened, many of my altcoins that I have held for long lost their value entirely despite not having an account on the FXT exchange.
Bro it's FTX, not the other way round XD

Well it does not matter if you had an account there or not. The event caused market panic and therefore a sell off which is common after any bad news. The effect of that sell off was seen on personal portfolios because all th coins being held there anyway draw their costs from the market which was crashing at that instant.

This is why I suggest people to keep the minimum amount of money in altcoins. At least bitcoin is resilient about such events with time and will hold its ground with gradually recovering over time.
1803  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it true that this AI is good for trading? on: February 02, 2023, 10:59:48 AM
I think currently the AI is being marketed a lot possibly by its owners to promote it's sale or something that has monetary benefit to its creators. We have seen bots work trades previously and you can program an AI to run a trade but what success you might get is doubtful unless you are doing a controlled study.

The correct answer to your question is that only, do a study and see for yourself. One machine to let the AI run the trading on autopilot while the other machine is run by a human for the same time on the same assets.
1804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why people are always interested in altcoins on: February 02, 2023, 10:52:44 AM
Because there are many opportunities for altcoins, but the risks are also great. Part of the reason I buy altcoins is that I think he will bring me profits, and part of the reason is to avoid inflation. Bitcoin is a coin that can be held for a long time without any challenges for most people. Humans are greedy by nature, and altcoins just feed them.
Only bitcoin can be trusted to be the one avoiding inflation, not any altcoin. So with that logic you should always buy Bitcoin and not altcoins. Altcoins may bring your profits over the short term but there can only be that much and not more. In the long run they are going to go down and you will suffer for your decision.

Human nature of being greedy is fed by altcoins, there is not doubt about this. But even then we have to be careful about newly launched altcoins.

Truly people are more interested in Bitcoin but fear buying it because of its large buying price to get a whole number of Bitcoin.
1805  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taking a loan/debt addicted ? on: February 01, 2023, 03:51:00 PM
Well, I have to clarify that personally I have never had any loan or debt in my life so this thread has nothing to do with my experience but intends to find out how people in loan/debt deal with the problem. Let's say you take loans from a bank and sometimes for whatever reason, you can not pay the debt on time, then you borrow money from other channels. Sure this works for a certain period but later bad things may happen, you have to postpone the payment and struggle with finances again. Isn't this a vicious circle ? How would you deal with the problem ? I am all ears.
It is a type of an addiction and there are certain people who like to take a loan instead of directly paying from their pocket even when they have enough money on them.

It is a vicious cycle unless that person takes back control in their own hands and clears off all their debts and stop this habit. I personally have seen some people who are always doing this and they dont seem to accept it as a problem - "you should do it too" is what they say when I attempt to snap them out of it.

Then there are those people who gamble with borrowed funds, that is defenitely going to go south. Their correction is through their gambling habit, not the habit of taking a loan.
1806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why most of airdrops don't pay participants with tokens in these days?? on: February 01, 2023, 03:47:19 PM
But sometimes they are just playing tricks on people who want to participate in the Airdrop, you should look in detail about what they are asking to collect data on you. Maybe all this is just a way to sell your data.
Dude, all they want is your data, they wont ask you to solve math problems to help with their kid's homework. After all they want to sell your data or some malicious intent that we should not talk about. Either way you are opening the risk. The more information about yourself that you give to strangers the more attack vectors they can prepare for you and one day you might end up in a bad situation causing you to lose money.

No number of airdrops justify what they are doing and besides you should not give away your data for something as low as a shitcoin that has no future. Invest in bitcoin and dont waste time on these shitdrops.
1807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which company will be next to accept Bitcoin? on: February 01, 2023, 03:36:03 PM
I don't think this will be happening in my stores in my country considering the hatred being shown by the government over the crypto currencies. i wonder when that time will come when bitcoin will be accepted in every store?
I am optimistic about it though, it will start from smaller stores and gradually move to bigger market places. However if some crypto project brings in more promotional ideas on spending their coin to buy grocery - then that can be another impetus to the growth of crypto locally. At present I can spend my bitcoins to buy giftcard and redeem them on a grocery app and use the wallet balance to buy my stuff, but I would like streamlined approach as we can spend fiat.

Every government will not be here forever, so have patience and optimism, good days will come but we have to remain prepared.
1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Being Lonely drives you towards Gambling....! on: January 31, 2023, 02:04:03 PM
Sorry to hear about your story but it seems to be that you have a problem and you need treatment as soon as possible. Spending money that has been kept for medical purposes on gambling means that you have developed an addiction and you need to change this habit or your family will suffer because of it.

Lonely and gambling - I dont think there is a direct causation but it can be assumed that those who gamble are more likely to be the single folk. Not every loner is a gambler though, some are very productive, so nope.

Remember that financial troubles will not end if you gamble out the money, rather you will go deeper down into losses and thus the quicker you handle this as a problem the faster you are to recover.
1809  Economy / Economics / Re: I have resolved into buying more and caring less on: January 31, 2023, 01:55:29 PM
As long as you manage to buy at every down trend you are the one who will be in profit in every up trend. But you also need to sell at the top to get the fiat back and then use that to buy back and thus cycle the money. Make sure you dont end up in that herd who only buys at every low and then runs out of cash to buy more. Moreover if you show your family members that you are doing this cycling and thus making money, they will get enthusiastic about bitcoin and might support you more during the dull/bear times which is an important mental cushion.

It is a good thing to care less about the news and treat these as just some numbers. But keep track of news because they might have more info about what trends can come in but dont let them guide your investment.
1810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are good at using the most hyped utility on: January 31, 2023, 01:51:54 PM
Those among us who have been learning how the scams operate know that all scammers attempt to use the SEO of a new buzzword to generate their views because the more views you draw from the general public, the more chances that a less informed gullible newbie will fall for that trap. We are knowledgable about such scams and thus we try to advice newbies not to go for them but very few users actually pay heed.

Besides a lot of the victims who get scammed feel for their greed and they are the ones to blame for their own losses.

Gradually you will see that the previous buzzword-driven coins are going to a stagnancy while their investors go to the slow pain zone.
1811  Economy / Economics / Re: In your country, today is money the real root of all evil? on: January 30, 2023, 08:44:54 AM
Money is never the root cause of evil even if many people might be saying the same.

Evil stems from human nature and that worsens with poor economic conditions. These things are attempted to be corrected by coercion, religion and support from neighbouring countries but in reality if a country is in such a location that it's not producing anything worth export nor is it having an advantage over others, then it will suffer in the long term and so will it's people.

I still believe that even in a poor country, hope is always there for betterment and economic improvement.
1812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else have my kind of mindset for Bitcoin 2023 on: January 30, 2023, 08:27:38 AM
It's not just your mindset which matter, we have a lot of panicky weak hands in the world majority of which are outside this forum and hence you are a one man army and besides everyone single person has their own needs and expenditure which might need selling of held assets.

Also it is not a single year that should give you confidence for a bull market, it should be everyday and it is also a long term confidence. Remember that both bear and bull markets have their seperate importance and we must see both to become a seasoned trader.

While you can hold you must also sell at the bull market and trap the profit. Cry
1813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody else confused by the dead-coins pump ? on: January 30, 2023, 08:13:45 AM
I think only emerging coins and relatively well-known altcoins are worthy of my investment. Because the new coin doubles in price easily. I will not pay attention to some dead altcoins, even if its price rises, I think the risk is relatively large.
Dead altcoins are not coming back, however difficult it might be a pill to swallow. Bagholders of those coins would have already exit the market and hence the rest of small cap holders will be in a loss. It is better to move on from such coins.

Newly launched coins will suffer the same fate one day which is why they need to sold at high and the trader must exit to bitcoin only portfolio.

Rest of the sudden pumps are manipulated and hence should not be touched.
1814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes a crypto project reliable and trustworthy ? on: January 30, 2023, 08:05:48 AM
No asset is trustworthy, in short.

Depends on upon what your objective is, whether to make profits in short term or in long term or just to support the project without looking at gains.

To check a project's trust worth, verify its team members and their background. Check the project's vision and evaluate whether it is feasible in real life and whether it has a market of it's own. Then see whether the concept actually solves the problem and also if its the first of its kind.

Still then you will see that good projects fail easily in the next one year and you cannot do anything about it. Altcoins are like that only.
1815  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are the Whales Control bitcoin price? on: January 29, 2023, 12:48:30 PM
Strange idea to get a control over the price of an asset to destroy an asset. If someone would like to destroy bitcoin he'd probably choose a way of coding some malware or adopting some prohibitional laws. If someone even holds 51% of BTC by own it doesn't destroy bitcoin. You'll hardly can buy all bitcoins to prevent it's moving. Grin
Destroying bitcoin does not even make any sense. Controlling the bigger share of bitcoin also does not, because it is decentralized. Attempting to move the market using a large volume is possible but that does not allow a "whale" to control the price but only move it.

Laws on crypto are big way but possible that may happen in future, even then we got bigger heads on that for now and far as malware is concerned, we should be more careful about our own wallets and how we keep them safe because that is the easiest point of entry instead of the market.

It is the pump and dump groups that move more than what whales do in my opinion. But keeping all that aside, since our objective is to make profit off the market, just treat them as numbers and dont get emotionally attached to it.
1816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why people are always interested in altcoins on: January 29, 2023, 12:39:34 PM
as we know, many people suggest investing in bitcoin because the risk is not too high.
but if we look at the market there are lots of people buying altcoins, and to be honest I also like to buy altcoins but there aren't many of them, and it's still my biggest investment in bitcoin. and to be honest even though investing in altcoins is risky but I always want to buy and the reason is because of the high pumping..
The same reason why people gamble knowing fully well that gambling is a win for the casino and never the player.

The human nature to have greed run their function is common and this is why gambling industry works and also why rugpulls and shitcoins run well. I not implying that every altcoin is a scam, but most of the newly launched ones are going to be such in a couple of years or less.

Making money from altcoin and making money from bitcoin, I would always go with the second one because that carries less anxiety and less loss of sleep. As a trader you need to limit the pressure you put on yourself to stay healthy and trade.

and I want to ask everyone what is your  for buying altcoins, is the reason the same as mine?
I dont buy altcoins.
1817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should be very careful with alts on: January 27, 2023, 11:12:19 AM
Why one shouldn't trust all altcoins is that most of these altcoins are being fronted by scammers. They float these projects, lure investors and they pack up afterwards. One just has to be very careful.
One can just avoid dabbing in altcoins completely. That way one can avoid getting scammed by these methods. Or they could learn properly how these scams operate and then use that knowledge to inform others.

Generally speaking they take advantage of the anonymous nature of crypto and they don't have the morals that legitimate humans have. So do your research but you can assume that the project will fail and you will lose your money. I still consider a loss to be a loss and not that it was money I could spare - Nope, money is never spared. I would rather invest in other asset classes.
1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: January 27, 2023, 11:07:26 AM
Currently I think there are many people who are holding on to more than 1 bitcoin. They hold Bitcoin for their future. At least in this market no one is willing to sell Bitcoin as investors know that Bitcoin will continue to grow higher in the near future. But I don't have that much money to invest right now but with the amount of money I have I have collected some amount of bitcoins from the current market. My future plan is to hold Bitcoin for the long term.
You can get the idea from watching the website which lists the percentage of Bitcoin users holding a fixed amount against the number of wallets that hold that amount. It is available on the net for free but keep in mind that many bitcoin rich users keep more than one of wallet.

However this is just a measure and not a point to ponder over. Your target should be to accumulate bitcoin during the bear market and sell during the bill market. Don't be foolish to think that Bitcoin is dead because it is in the red and end up selling at a loss.
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just how bad is the bear market right now? on: January 27, 2023, 11:02:28 AM
the current bearish market is no worse than the previous bearish market so it is still relatively safe, especially now that all crypto prices are gradually recovering, so buy a lot when the market is bearish, not sell cheap crypto that we have bought at high prices before
Currently it is recovering and now we can see prices in the 20k range once again. This was a prolonged bear market and those who have been mentally determined enough to stand through such times will emerge with profits in the next bill run.

It is important to note that bear market is the time to buy and keep the patience. The bull market is the time to sell. If you don't have the patience to keep up through these times, you will falter and lose money.

Going with the get rich quick mindset, you would lose.
1820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High Profit Projects Are Prone To Scam on: January 26, 2023, 10:05:52 AM
In 2021 there are numerous allegations of extorting money from investors with some scam projects. Some projects were attracting them with such lure that if they didn't invest there, it was like missing out on a bigger opportunity. But after investing, their false imagination throws them into the sea of disappointment.
The only crypto to keep track of is bitcoin. I understand that people wanted to take risks and learnt their lesson in due course too. But this should teach the newbies that going in to altcoins is not the same as going in to small cap stocks in the stock market. Here the only worthy coin is bitcoin and rest all are for short term max.

Quote
Here none of the things that an investor should have considered before investing. This situation was mainly due to greed. It's certainly true that projects that compensate for excess returns and at some point remove everything. Some projects, though promising to do something good, have lapsed due to the hostile market environment. Most of the problems arise in new projects. As the probability of profit is high, the probability of loss is even higher.
Greed is one factor another is the lack of having a whole number coin. 0.01 BTC seems like a small amount to someone who does not know the cost of 1BTC, but 10,000 Shitcoin sound like a big number even though the shitcoin is worth dust.
