One of our originally ordered BFL Singles showed up in the mail today (no extra fan on the bottom).  I've emailed Butterfly Labs asking why there was only 1 when the order was for 2.  Hopefully the next one shows up soon.  In any event, we are now hashing away at 1664MH/s.

Our first mined Bitcoin has been sent as a BTC1 donation.
Weekly donations to follow.
18005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what's next for Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2012, 02:55:22 AM
Amazon or another large online business accepting them as payment.

A popular game using it as in-game currency wouldn't hurt either.

Very cool.  Did you get a confirmation on the rev3?  I had two orders of five, and only one came with an extra fan on the bottom.  I thought that one was an earlier rev.

I never looked into it.  It works and Butterfly Labs will accept it as a trade in for an ASIC, so I'm happy either way.  I should be getting 2 more of them on Monday and I'll let you know if they have the extra fans or not.

Nasty pays some weekly dividends right now?

Tomorrow will be our first dividend payment.  Weekly dividend payments to follow.  I'd also like to add that in addition to being the first in line for ASICs, we are also the only mining company (I'm aware of) using GPUMAX to maximize PPS.
I use gpumax and bonus pool. Your most likely in the first wave, along with a lot of other people. Claiming to be the first in line is ridiculous.

I only claim to be first in line for SCs because Bit-Pay confirmed it.  I won't speculate on Butterfly Labs' manufacturing/shipping process because I honestly have no idea.

We're live on GPUMAX.  Currently getting around 125% PPS.   Grin

Also I assume that the dividends will not payout at the contracted 20Mh/share yet.  Do we have a count of what the Mh/share will be for these first tiny payouts?
Please do not look too much into tomorrow's dividend payment.  It will only be for a few hours of hashing at about 0.2MH/s per share.  Next week's dividend should be about 0.65MH/s per share for a majority of the week.  Then we're back to waiting on more BFL Single shipments for further increases.  I would also like to stress that this is an actual mining operation and not a theoretical bond payout like a majority of other mining investments on the GLBSE.  That being said, variance and luck will play a role in our dividend payments.

As backup-pool I would like to recommend eclipsemc. They seem to have nearly equal conditions as ozcoin.
I will look into eclipsemc.  It is run by one of our GLBSE competitors, but I'm open to having a backup, or even a few backup pools.  You can never have too many backups.

Do you run the BFL-Software? Did you consider using cgminer instead?
No, I don't run the BFL-Software to mine, only to run tests and install bitstreams.  We will be using cgminer as I am a big fan of the software.

Also now that we are getting to business... did you have any plans of putting up a status page OgNasty so we can check on the farm status?
I did secure NastyMining.bit in order to have a farm status page.  I have LOTS of ideas I would like to implement and I have had discussions with an extremely talented programmer in order to bring those ideas to reality.  It will happen eventually, but when it comes to working for free, things take time.  What I can tell you is that it will be done right, and it will be awesome.

Auto-tuning it now with BFL software to determine the proper bitstream.

I auto-tuned the BFL Single and installed the 832MH/s bitstream as recommended.  Testing is currently underway and this BFL Single will be hashing for us before the end of the day...  Which brings us to a question.  What pool do we want to use?

For those not familiar with GPUMAX, when public work is not available, it falls back to your standard pool.  I'll admit I haven't researched Bitcoin Mining Pools in a while, but did go over a few of the larger ones last night.  I decided that Ozcoin Mining Pool would work best for our purposes, due to their low fees, automatic NMC->BTC conversion, and Double Geometric Payout Method.  If no shareholders are opposed, in addition to GPUMAX, we will be mining with Ozcoin.  This morning I setup an account and set the donation rate at 1%, but am open to suggestions on what we should be making as far as a pool donation as well.

somebody is spending a lot of money to try and keep the price low

Fixed for you.

Fixed it again, BTC is money BTCSmiley

FIXED FOR YOU AGAIN  Grin Grin Grin

Until I can buy gas at a gas station or drive up to mcdonalds and buy something with it...i disagree. It is an experiment and a digital currency at best.

Sure the gas station and mcdonalds won't take euros over here in America either, but that doesn't mean its not money!

Oh so you dont convert your euros into dollars when going through immigration? I feel sorry for you bro...i really do...

You don't convert your BTC to USD before going to the gas station or McDonalds?
18016  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NASTY - Free Electricity, GPUMAX.com, Free ASIC Upgrade! on: July 20, 2012, 02:50:12 AM
Actually that's a Rev. 3 (heat pipes). The sheet that came with it says rev 1.  I think they kept that same sheet for most of the newer orders.  Keep 'er cool!

Interesting.  I thought all the Rev. 3's had a second fan installed on the bottom. Auto-tuning it now with BFL software to determine the proper bitstream.

On another note, I've received an email from Butterfly Labs saying that our next 2 BFL Singles have shipped and we should receive them by Monday.
18017  Economy / Securities / Re: Credit Ratings on: July 19, 2012, 08:12:18 PM
GLBSE is great. But I think the verification process should go to a 3rd party

I think the entire GLBSE verification process is a farce.  False documents can be obtained via SR, phone numbers via Google Voice, addresses via any random person willing to forward you a piece of mail, fake LinkedIn/Facebook accounts could be created over TOR, etc...

When dealing with anonymous currency, 1 thing matters.  How much of it you have on the line.  For this reason, I've suggested several times that the GLBSE implement a "bonded by the GLBSE" program.  Issuers could have the ability to store a specified amount of BTC in an account controlled by Nefario to be used in the event of a default.

You want a stranger to take a look at some phony documents and give you an A+ rating?  I want issuers to put up a few thousand dollars in BTC to compensate investors if the worst were to occur.  Any withdrawals from the bonded program could require a motion, which I believe should only be allowed to be voted on by non-issuer accounts.  In addition, Nefario could use funds from the bonded program to improve liquidity with some sort of bot (as long as it was profitable) and actually provide a small interest rate on the bonds, thereby encouraging their use and strengthening the entire exchange via added liquidity, bonded insurance against default, & an interest rate program on bonded deposits.

- P2P escrow...opensource

This actually sounds like an awesome idea!  There should be some small fee to use the escrow service though, perhaps 1%, and it should be split by the people running the application.  I have no idea how you'd limit people to running 1 node per computer to keep from gaming the system or keep them from being able to access and steal the BTC held in escrow, but I'd run it if it was a safe way to generate small amounts of funds and I'd use it for escrow on my trades to support the P2P aspect.

Another huge issue would be determining how to resolve disputes.

In an effort to get dividends for this operation rolling as soon as possible, I have come to an agreement to purchase 1 BFL Single from forum user kibblesnbits.  This single should be shipped out tomorrow and dividends will begin being paid shortly after receipt of the device.

Looking forward to becoming a fellow shareholder.  Have it shipped first thing Monday morning.

I have in my possession, a revision 1 BFL Single sent by kibblesnbits.  Tonight I will use the BFL software to test and load the appropriate bitstream.  Once the appropriate bitstream has been loaded, I will begin a 24 hour test to make sure the unit is functioning properly.  If everything checks out, I will get this thing hashing for us in hopes to provide a small dividend this coming Saturday.

Get a webcam pointed at your yard and start a betting ring on how many and when the dog will eat birds.
