1821  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Does it make sense to have mobile wallet + desktop wallet from same brand? on: August 27, 2023, 07:47:43 AM
I don't see many benefits in what you are trying to do. It would be good to know how you are storing your most valuable or biggest stash of coins?
Are you only relying on hot wallets (mobile, desktop) or is there a hardware wallet or airgapped device somewhere in the mix?

If you have both an iOS and Android phone with you, I see no point in having the same seed imported on both wallets. 2x the risk.
If you use a desktop + phone combination, then what's your main way of sending and receiving bitcoin? Via your desktop or mobile wallet? And is it really mandatory to replicate the same seed across both devices when you can create different wallets with different seeds on each one?

You said you don't want to use your laptop that often and intent to spend the coins from your phone on the go. Perfect. So create a separate wallet on your phone and just transfer what you need to spend on the go to it.

I feel like you are trying to save on fees by importing your seed across different devices. In my opinion, it's not worth it. One wrong step on either your phone or laptop, and your coins could be gone because they share the same seed.
1822  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: unauthorized transactions on: August 27, 2023, 07:00:07 AM
It's a mystery. But you surely made a wrong turn somewhere and someone or a piece of software got access to the secrets needed to spend from your wallet.
Based on your previous reply, you didn't say anything about encrypting your Electrum wallet. Can we conclude that you can run the software and spend from the wallet without needing to enter any passwords?
1823  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: August 27, 2023, 06:47:41 AM
Seems my transactions was reversed since it didn't confirm for that past 12 days thereabouts.. I viewed my wallet this morning and I noticed my balance is back with the previous amount I sent out since on 14 August.
That's good to know. But just for the record, where did you notice the change in balance? Actually, the coins being returned to your previous address? In Electrum or Trust Wallet? If the balance is back to normal, Electrum shouldn't have records of local transactions in your wallet. But just to be 100% sure, you could check that.
1824  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: August 26, 2023, 05:46:53 PM
Update:
- Thanks to bitmover latest update which added colors and the bold feature to the image codes, I have now highlighted some casinos with either red or green coloring, depending on if their offer is good or bad. I think it looks much better with some colors, giving special attention to the casinos that deserve it.
1825  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Open Electrum Android App in READ-ONLY mode? on: August 26, 2023, 04:41:48 PM
This is exactly what I do NOT want. This procedure creates/replicates a full wallet.
It replicates a full wallet to some extent, and that's the whole point of it, but it's missing the essentials to sign transactions. A watch-only wallet created with public keys or a master public key can't sign any transactions unless you made a mistake and imported the private keys/seed instead. You seem to be struggling with the terminology and understanding of how transactions work, so such a mistake is possible. The wallet you created can't know your keys unless you provided it to it. It's that simple.
1826  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum-4.4.6 Released. Fixes several lightning-related security issues on: August 26, 2023, 04:30:44 PM
Elecreum is the best. Don't care about security.
You should care about security at all costs.
Maybe OP didn't express himself properly. Somehow I got the feeling he was being ironic and critical towards Electrum. In his OP, he wrote that he updated his Electrum to the newest version already. If he didn't care about security, he wouldn't be bothered installing the update. The ironic part could be the one where he wrote that the developers needed two months to fix the discovered vulnerabilities.

Maybe he is also confusing the terms security and privacy. We know that Electrum's goal isn't to be a privacy-saving wallet by default. Maybe he wanted to say that he doesn't care about privacy.
1827  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitBox02 Experiences on: August 26, 2023, 04:15:05 PM

Not that long ago a vulnerability was found with the Miniscript language and its spending policies in Ledger hardware wallets. In theory, it created wrong addresses that others could abuse to spend your coins. In practice and according to what Yamane_Keto explained, there was no wallet implementation that fully supported the Miniscript feature and the creation of descriptors. According to him, no wallet was vulnerable to the vulnerability. It has, in the meantime, been fixed. Hopefully, the BitBox team knows what not to do.
1828  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 40 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: August 26, 2023, 03:58:17 PM
BTW, do you have any plans to move discontinued hardware wallets to a different page [there are two at the moment]?
Are you talking about the Keystone Essential and Pro models or some of the other hardware wallets in the collection? If you check the main list without any active filters, you will notice that these two HWs are positioned all the way to the right with a 'Discontinued' notification under their pictures. I think that's pretty clear for anyone looking at the page that they are no longer for sale.
1829  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Real Life druženje on: August 26, 2023, 03:50:16 PM
1830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto betting on: August 26, 2023, 03:45:30 PM
It is better to stay away from kyc sites, they are more scams and these platforms do not have any guarantees.
KYC depends on the licensing body regulating the casino. Licensed casinos through Malta's and the UK's gambling commissions are more strict, and require identify verification from the get go. Curacao casinos are lenient and follow other regulations. Nevertheless, if you pay closer attention to the T&Cs you agree to, you would notice that they all say that the providers have the right to demand KYC whenever they want. This is a rule they will gladly apply during withdrawals, especially if you are attempting to move significant sums. Properly KYC-free casinos are rare and will be even rarer in the future.
1831  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Someone displaying their own Ledger seed phrase on: August 25, 2023, 05:04:03 PM
Ledger stabbed themselves in the back with the thoughtless announcement of their Ledger Recover service. It's not something you can easily recover from as a company, even though the drama has calmed down now. Knowingly or unknowingly, they have explained that secure element chips can be programmed to allow remote access, making such chips unsuitable for cold/semi-cold storage with hardware wallets. They are just digging their own grave going forward with the Recover feature.

That aside, that Twitter feed has nothing to do with it and it's just someone who wants some attention, likes, or whatever. One look at that thread and its pictures and you realize that it's just a joke. Check the second picture. Besides the Nano X and seed, there is also a gun and a pocketknife in the picture. No one can and should take that seriously.
1832  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 40 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: August 25, 2023, 04:49:44 PM
I just checked all hardware wallets that can be purchased with Bitcoin or LN, and I got only 15 from 40 devices, no wonder that ledger is not accepting BTC  Tongue
Imagine someone selling devices that should keep BTC safe in storage, but you won't accept that same BTC ... it just shows how much they support Bitcoin Roll Eyes
You know what they say, verify don't trust. You should have checked the information you found on that site and looked on Ledger's shop yourself.

Ledger doesn't accept crypto directly, meaning from your wallet to theirs, but does accept it through payment providers like Crypto.com Pay and Bitpay. The quality of these services is another topic of discussion.
If you use crypto.com Pay, you can pay with BTC, CRO, DAI, ETH, USDC, and USDT.
If you use Bitpay, the accepted coins include BTC, BCH, DOGE, LTC, XRP, ETH, etc...
1833  Other / Meta / Re: Save your nice merit records here - LAST UPDATE: 12/07/2023 on: August 25, 2023, 04:07:48 PM
I noticed an almost perfect-looking profile today in the Croatian local and remembered this topic. As you can see, the user has 110 posts, 110 activity, and 100 merits. I broke their merit count soon after taking the screenshot though, but here is how it looked a few seconds before.

1835  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: August 25, 2023, 03:32:32 PM
Except secure element part.
In that case one can't say that the hardware structure of Foundation Passport is open-source. A great deal of it is, probably more than with other manufacturers. But you are still dealing with an essential close-source chip that is the Secure Element and probably NDAs just like with other brands. I remember that I read somewhere that they have an open-source hardware license. Not sure how one can acquire that unless each component qualifies as open-source. Anyways, this is the wrong topic for such discussions.
1836  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: August 24, 2023, 07:09:51 PM

1837  Other / Meta / Re: cryptofrka's Merit Source application - gambling boards on: August 24, 2023, 06:53:13 PM
I'm a BTT member since 2018, constant DT1/DT2 member and 170. in the list of most recognized BTT users.
We don't need to know your height, little one. Or if you want to tell us how tall you are, at least mention how much you weigh as well Grin. Just joking, my bad.
The gambling board is definitely a sewer, and it's sad that it is. It has so much potential, particularly since gambling is a big use case of bitcoin and crypto. I hope that with a successful application and acceptance by theymos you can help to change that.

Thumbs up for cryptofrka!
1838  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: August 24, 2023, 06:44:08 PM

1839  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Real Life druženje on: August 24, 2023, 06:34:01 PM
Cool
1840  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: August 24, 2023, 06:25:59 PM
I am glad that xLays is one of the two winners because their avatar was one of my two favorites for this contest. Like I said earlier, I wish the skull was centered perfectly in the middle for an even better overall impression, but nevermind. I have already updated the avatar and looking forward to how it will look once the Bitcointalk server does its thing.

Congratulations to all winners!
