1821  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does all the money from luna have to go somewhere? on: May 27, 2022, 11:26:46 AM
Before the crash, UST had a marketcap of around $18.5b, and in just around 6 days it's down to around $1.4b. All that sold UST was mostly sold for Curve-supported stablecoins like DAI/USDT/USDC as they had the most on-chain liquidity.

This might be good news, because a big portion of those stablecoins might get converted back to BTC, when the bloodbath is over and the market goes into another bull run.
I don't know how much did Do Kwon profit from the Terra/Luna project? He must be hiding big amounts of BTC/altcoins and fiat money somewhere. Sad
I hear rumors that Tether might cause next big cryptocurrency price crash, but this might be just some FUDsters trying to spread panic.

1822  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: May 27, 2022, 05:42:16 AM
Quote
Both the USSR and USA enjoyed the luxury of surviving World War II with their territories and economies largely intact

You are terribly wrong about this. The western part of the USSR was occupied by nazi Germany and most of the industrial facilities of the USSR  were located in the west (Ukraine and Belarus) before the war. Those territories suffered from a lot of destruction and millions of people in the USSR died during the war (around 20 million). Saying that the USSR "enjoyed the luxury of surviving WWII" is simply stupid and ignorant.
The USSR didn't "enjoy" anything.

Russia can't beat USA and China in terms of GDP, demographics, technologies and military power. A global economic crisis won't change this.
Unfortunately Russia will remain as a threat for the global peace and security.
1823  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stackingsat - anyone? on: May 26, 2022, 11:12:00 AM
I've never heard anything about this website and I believe that you don't need a specific platform, in order to do dollar cost averaging.
If you really trust this company, just go ahead and send some coins there at your own risk. But remember, "Not your keys, not your coins"
I don't want to visit this URL. Have you even checked the URL for malware and viruses? They have a .com domain extension, which means that they are trying to do a legit business, I guess.
You could move this thread to the "Service Discussion" forum, since we are discussing a particular crypto company, not  cryptocurrency trading in general.

1824  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is doing well in Thailand...or is it? on: May 26, 2022, 10:33:34 AM

They only want to regulate transactions to protect investors from losing money.

No, the government can't protect the investors from losing money via crypto trading. The government wants to protect the investors from being scammed. Losing money is part of crypto trading. Nobody can make profits without someone else losing money, it's a zero sum game.
Anyway, I'm skeptical about the current crypto regulation in Thailand. This crypto regulation seems to be what they call "too little, too late".
Nobody could keep the investors from staying in Thailand. They could move their money at a country, where there are better crypto regulations and the crypto exchanges are offering better services.
I'm not a fan of centralized crypto exchanges and I think that the crypto world has moved into the wrong direction. We need to go back to the basics- hardware wallets an decentralized exchanges.
1825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Old Casino Keep Up Without Support Here In Bitcointalk Or Signature Campaign on: May 26, 2022, 06:17:32 AM
Can an old casino that's very active here in Bitcointalk, through support, forum advertising, and signature campaign, suddenly pull the plug and stop doing all these things can still keep and still maintain its position in the market.

A case study is Bitvest and 777Coin we know that Lightlord was sick and now he is well and comes back from time to time but not doing the same thing they're doing for many years.

This is pretty interesting question.
If you ask me, the age of a crypto casino doesn't matter, the size is what matters the most.
There are old crypto casinos, that are still relatively small. I don't think that they could survive without consistent advertising here on Bitcointalk. On the other hand, a big crypto casino(it doesn't matter if it's old or relatively new) can keep a large portion of it's players without active advertising on the forum, but the stream of new players might be reduced(assuming that the casino doesn't have a good referral/bonus system).
We are talking about the legit casinos here. A scam casino will always fail in the end. With or without proper advertising, sig campaigns and active announcement threads.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first gas station to accept Bitcoin in my region on: May 26, 2022, 05:54:55 AM
Sorry to say that, but I don't think that many people will buy gasoline with Bitcoins. Sad
Anyway, OP does a great job spreading Bitcoin adoption. Perhaps more people would embrace BTC, after the Bitcoin price drops even further down. Usually,  the mass BTC adoption among small businesses gets postponed in times of high price volatility. I really hope that the upcoming crypto winter will bring more price stability for Bitcoin(which will be temporary, of course), which might lead more businesses and individuals into adopting BTC and using it as normal currency.
The fact, that countries in Latin America and Africa are more open towards to Bitcoin/crypto compared to the countries in Europe, Asia and North America is kinda disturbing. I really want Bitcoin to receive mass recognition everywhere around the world.
1827  Economy / Economics / Re: Solar panels set to be mandatory on all new buildings under EU plan on: May 25, 2022, 11:28:40 AM
It's probably something Spain and Greece could do well having but I'm not sure if there's any other country that gets a good amount of sun.

If they tried making rooftop wind turbines that were quiet and stable enough, you'd be able to produce a lot of electricity from the UK, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Sweden (and probably most of the rest of Northern Europe).

The rise in fuel price is probably good in a way as it might make renewables seem a more attractive source (the EU already sources half of it's electricity from renewables). I think Denmark is able to source half of its electricity usage by wind too.

The UK, Norway, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark will invest about 135 billion euro into building wind turbines in the North Sea.
Small rooftop wind turbines are not a good idea. The wind turbines have to be bigger, in order to be more efficient. Studies show that there's enough wind in the North Sea(in terms of both power and consistency), so the big wind turbines might be really effective.
Anyway, I don't mind having solar panels on my roof, but the EU has to provide some sort of financial aid, in order to incentivize more people to put solar panels on their roofs. I know that the solar panel technology is getting cheaper and more efficient every year, but the mass implementation would cost billions and the energy system would still need conventional coal and nuclear power plants, in order to compensate the new solar power plants, because they won't be consistent at producing energy 24/7.
1828  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if BTC's price falls to $8,000? on: May 25, 2022, 11:06:50 AM
I expect more and more people to write forum threads titled "What happens if Bitcoin price falls to {insert random price here}?"  Grin
Yes, the central banks will rise the interest rates, but this will happen slowly. No central bank is going to take drastic measures.
Yes, the financial markets were flooded with fiat money during the last decade, many financial assets were overpriced, Bitcoin might be one of them. The market players will have to stop swimming into boatloads of easy fiat money and learn to exist in a stagnant environment.
In the long term, the central bank would never stop with the money printing, so there will be another economic cycle of quantitative easing, after the war in Ukraine ends.
Prepare for the crypto winter, just HODL and buy when the price drops even further. There's no room for panic.

1829  Economy / Gambling / Re: KEEP OUT from trustdice.win❗❗❗ on: May 25, 2022, 06:47:25 AM
For me, having a .win domain extension is already a red flag.
A legit crypto casino would always spend some money to buy a more expensive domain .io, .com or .org.
This might not be a big change, but it signals authority and an ambition to do legit business, rather than going for the scam cash grab.
I guess that this is a small crypto casino, and the smaller crypto casinos don't have enough liquidity in order to process all withdrawals in a timely manner. Spending coins to gamble on the small casinos is always riskier than sticking to the big casinos. I don't know why many people prefer gambling on newly launched small casinos, their service won't be better than the big ones. Perhaps the generous bonus system is what hooks up many gamblers.
Anyway, isn't this thread supposed to be in the Scam accusations forum?
1830  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can you explain the tutorial of Chip Mixer btc will compensate on: May 25, 2022, 06:29:01 AM
I have been trying to understand the workings of Chip mixer.  I have seen a couple of videos, but there were some things that still
unclear. please provide some clarification, in LAYMAN terms please. I willing to make a donation.

Please be more specific about what exactly you don't understand.
I think that there are enough tutorials and guides about Chipmixer around the internet and every person with above average IQ can understand how Chipmixer works.
Why would you even want to use a Bitcoin mixer/tumbler service? Are you trying to "cleanup" some "dirty" Bitcoins? Do you want to buy something on the darkweb?
Beware of the scam mixing services and misleading Chipmixer phishing links. I know that Chipmixer is one of the very few legit Bitcoin mixers, but I've heard some horror stories about people being scammed by them. I don't know if those stories were true and I don't know whether or not those people were scammed by a Chipmixer imposter or the actual Chipmixer website. Be careful.
1831  Economy / Speculation / Re: First In Bitcoin History (or did it ever happen?) on: May 24, 2022, 10:44:00 AM
Yes, it happened for the first time in Bitcoin's history, but so what?
Would you even care about daily and weekly charts, if you are a long term BTC HODLer? Only the day traders and the noobs might get panicked due to the recent price patterns.
The world might be heading towards global stagflation or a new Great Depression, mixed with mass starvation in the underdeveloped countries.
The central banks will increase the interest rates, which means less money flooding the financial markets, which means less price bubbles and more price drops.
The stocks markets aren't performing any better than the crypto markets. There's going to be a long crypto winter, but the HODLers cannot be worried by this.

It’s the first time in Bitcoin history. The previous week was tied once in the past. The stock market also had 8 week losing streak going back to 1932 or so.

Right now things are starting to get out of control. Especially considering how small we get any relief bounces. Before taking any large positions you need to sit it out and wait for a reversal. Because it can get ugly this week or next week. Especially with all these bad earnings.

There's no point of spreading more FUD. Things might get worse, but they might get better(by "better" I mean staying at 30K).

1832  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid omicron version 2.0 monkeypox coming and markets on: May 24, 2022, 10:25:56 AM
325btc always comes up with odd topics  Grin

Is that how they call trolling and shitposting nowadays? Coming up with odd topics? Grin
Recent studies show that most of the people infected with this monekypox disease are homosexual men. Gay men will have to restrain from sexual activities and wear a condom when they have sex. The rest of the population are pretty much fine. I also read studies that monkeypox isn't a dangerous disease and there isn't any risk from dying.
Monkeypox will not become the new COVID, but I guess that the big pharma is paying huge money to the mainstream media to spread some panic across the population (which means the people buying more drugs, which means bigger revenue for big pharma).
This monkeypox might turn into "moneypox" for the pharmaceutical industry, if you know what I mean. Grin

1833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 24, 2022, 05:49:31 AM
To be honest, I didn't expect AC Milan to keep the first place until the end of the season.
Great performance from them and a much expected trophy by the AC Milan fans.
I really wish AC Milan to become a major factor in the upcoming UEFA Champions league tournament. After all, they are the most successful Italian team in the European tournaments and it's time for them to break the dominance of the English and Spanish teams and get their 8th Champions League cup. AC Milan would need younger strikers in the next Serie A season, since Ibrahimovich and Olivie Jiroud are too old.
I also don't think that AC Milan will be successful at defending their Serie A cup in the next season, because Juventus and Inter are about to spend a lot of money buying multiple world class players.
1834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What approach do you expect from the Government if your Country adopt bitcoin? on: May 24, 2022, 05:29:18 AM
1.I don't expect my country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender.
2.I don't expect my country to waste any money on some kind of Bitcoin promotion or educating the people about the benefits of Bitcoin.
I don't think that this would happen in any country around the world(there might be some exceptions in the underdeveloped world, but they don't matter).
The governments would never waste any resources to teach the people how to use a payment system, over which the government doesn't have any control whatsoever. On the other hand, the CBDCs will definitely be promoted and I'm sure that their promotion will be successful among the ""average Joe" conformists.
We, as a community should NOT expect any help from the "powers that be"-the governments and the central banks.

1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: May 23, 2022, 12:07:35 PM
Manchester City really deserved the trophy. They were the most consistent team across the season.
The match against Aston Villa made me remember the last round of the 2012 Premier League season, when Man City defeated QPR with a goal in the last second. I can't imagine all the emotions felt by the Man City fans watching the game. At some point, I even believed that Liverpool will become champions.
Anyway, really disappointing season for both Arsenal and Manchester United. I don't know why Arsenal signed a contract with Mikel Arteta.
Do they want to stay mediocre forever? There's no way Arteta would make Arsenal into a great team. A team capable of wining trophies.
Man United will have to start from scratch with a brand new manager and without many players.
I wish them good luck.

If food growers adopted a crypto token which was backed by food commodities and guaranteed a static exchange rate for a set number of tomatos, potatos, per token.

That could be a good format for future food emergencies.

A crypto token backed by potatoes, tomatoes or even wheat cannot make those foods more abundant and less scarce.
Food prices will be going up, there's no way around this. Fertilizers are getting more expensive, wheat is really important for the livestock industry, which means that meat and milk will also become expensive.
The only way to survive is to:
1.Eat less.(kinda works if you are overweight and want to lose some weight). This isn't as crazy as it seems. The vast majority of the people are eating lots of junk food, which has very low nutritional value. You could eat way less and still feel completely full.
2.Have your own garden, or a piece of land and grow your own fruits and vegetables.

The situation is bad for the countries, that are relying on Ukrainian wheat, but they will have to import wheat from somewhere else(at a higher price).
1837  Economy / Gambling / Re: SEARCHING FOR OPINIONS ON A CRASH GAMBLING SITE IDEA on: May 23, 2022, 05:33:44 AM

1) Would you be interested in investing in the game's bankroll if I got the site registered and provably fair? (The same way that people invest into BAB and EC)
2) Would you be interested in playing the site if I made it?
3) What cryptocurrency should the site accept?
4) What types of features should I add to interest people to join?

1.No. There's no point even asking this question at this point. First, show us the finished product(a fully functional website) and then ask for investors. Don't expect someone to invest in your project, just because you have made a website. Building trust is a slow and tedious process.

2.I don't mind testing your website for free.

3.Why do you even have to ask this question? Just stick with the big cryptocurrencies. You could add 1000 shitcoins, but this won't add anything to your service.

4.A bonus system, or a decent referral system, so that you could get referral traffic and the gamblers do the promotion for you(assuming that you have a great website and you are not scamming people).
1838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Habitual Bitcoin Buyer-Not what you think on: May 23, 2022, 05:12:57 AM
Your problem doesn't seem like a problem at all.
If you need cash, just sell a part of your BTC for fiat money and spend the fiat for buying necessary stuff or paying the bills.
I don't expect a massive bull run to come anytime soon, so the BTC price stay around the 30K mark, or it might go down to 25K. There's no problem buying Bitcoins to replenish your Bitcoin reserve, after you have sold some.
I guess that you have a weird syndrome, where you like to gather and hoard bigger amounts of a resource, rather than wasting resources.
It's like a squirrel wanting to gather as much nuts as possible. That's why I call it the "squirrel syndrome" (there might be a more scientific term for that particular condition). Grin
1839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can a new sportsbook gain trust? on: May 22, 2022, 10:15:00 AM
The only way to build trust is to have actual social proof of your trustworthiness.
Ask people to signup and use your sportsbook in exchange of an honest review. Post the reviews on your website or on social media.
Create accounts on websites like Trustpilot and encourage more users to leave reviews about your website. If anyone leave a negative review, just talk with him and solve the problem.
Being trustworthy means 2 things:
1.Keeping your promises.
2.Providing great customer support service and solving all the issues your customers might have in a timely manner.

Good luck with your project, OP.I expect you to make an announcement thread in the gambling forum, so we could see your sportsbook website.
1840  Economy / Economics / Re: If inflation is rising, why isn't crypto more valuable now? on: May 22, 2022, 09:25:01 AM
There are two types of inflation:
1.Demand inflation-when money printing machine goes brrr... and there are too many paper money circulating in the economy.
2.Cost inflation-when the prices of important commodities increase due to non-economical factors, like western sanctions over Russia, the war in Ukraine, the supply chains getting disrupted by the pandemic, the microchip deficit, etc...
We are witnessing a combination of the two types of inflation right now. The investors are selling risky assets and buying safe heaven assets like gold and real estate. Bitcoin(and crypto coins in general) simply isn't viewed as a safe heaven asset. In times of crisis and uncertainty, the investors are sticking to what they are familiar with.
