18201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGE] Will history repeat again? MOON on: January 31, 2017, 09:07:55 PM
Hey, doge is pretty damn stable compared to a lot of other coins,  and that's good for any currency.   Right?  It's definitely still alive and well, even if it isn't the most glamorous thing.  People use it, unlike all the other turds.

I am a professed doge lover... the fun spirit of the coin still thrives and is very much alive. You can see this especially in casinos that use Doge. It is the choice coin for tips and giveaways... I have tens of thousands just from random tippers, even after giving tens of thousands away myself.

It's still unique and it still recently gives to charitable causes. Moon it may never be, but it is here to stay for a long, long time.

well that is the thing, we are in a speculation board for altcoins which is talking about the price. Dogecoin is only a joke coin and for some reason it has thrived this long. and all the thing you said such as giveaways and tips on places like reddit have no effect on price. and the fact that it is used as a gambling coin these days is because people have lots of it for very cheap and want to get rid of it somehow or make possible profit.
again no effect on price!

The things I spoke about -  its widespread use in giving and tipping as well as for charitable donations - are evidence that Dogecoin is still in demand. Demand means people still want to use them, and still want to obtain them. Some of the oldest faucets around still have to purchase the coin to give it out.

Demand is a huge factor in determining price. You can't say it has no effect on price.

Hello! Don't know how I missed out on this thread, but I see you're also managing a twitter campaign. Might as well get my satoshi's worth in for comments made in the thread. Hard to post in there and catch up though, with a bit of spam going on.

1. As previously posted, the forum guides are outdated and are not for DKV2.

2. The two difficulties can be obtained through the use of a Difficulty Token yes.

3. See number 1.

4. Only turns are cumulative.

Uhmm, look like that guide only tell 60% of the current version of the game. May i knew why not update the guide? Because i dont find any other informatiin except from there, would you let me know if there is newest guide?

And my two question still not yet answered because outdated guide, how to reset my allocated AP? and is daily quest already deleted?

Hey xdtia,

You can still read the forum guides like I did for information, but bear in mind, the rules there were for an older version, as the Dev mentions. The players in chat and Dev himself (Anarchist) are very helpful though, so you can learn along as you play, like I am. There's really not much to understand once you've settled in I think. See you in Valeria.
18204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Matchpool - Making Human Connections on: January 31, 2017, 07:01:39 AM
I wonder if there is a small issue with this project's aims... if Matchpool X will always be in a 1:1 ratio with Matchpool Y, before new participants will be entered into pools, then presumably you'd have a lot of males waiting for a very long time to be enrolled.

Simply because demographic of crypto users show majority males.
Dating site users are also majority males.

18206  Local / Trading dan Spekulasi / Re: [DISKUSI] Harga Bitcoin on: January 30, 2017, 08:18:16 PM
Memang semua mengharap harga naik, saya pun begitu, tapi setengah hati berat karena mau membeli lagi di masa terdekat. Wallet saya pun hampir kering... kalau harga tetap beberapa bulan lagi pun saya kira ok bulih menambah bitcoin sementara harga belum naik. Smiley
18207  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Can anyone recommend an iPhone BTC app that doesn't suck? on: January 30, 2017, 07:11:38 AM
When talking about small amounts and small transactions, I actually store my dust on a web "wallet" which is easily accessible on my phone -  basically just an account on a website which I use to store my dust and send/receive from within my account.

The thing with dust is most of the good wallets will kill you on tx fees.

Can't wait for Electrum to get itself on iOS and show people what they've been missing.
18208  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: CoinFest 2017 on: January 30, 2017, 07:02:03 AM
Thanks for the link, just realising from the talkshow that you're from Austin haha. Btw, is there a way to skip to the 2nd half without waiting for 30 mins? Or a text sample?

On a rather selfish note, I'm also hoping to find perhaps some form of work at Coinfest. Not sure what's available for a person new to the scene (from a non-profit and journalism background) but will definitely be at Arnhem to find out. Have you been to all the Coinfest physical events?

Agree that getting village loyalty back up should be an option - perhaps not necessarily only with "bribes" but upgrades even should work to some effect (hey, which townspeople won't vote for the mayor that brings development, right?).

Also, on a side note, I think the chat gift for +5 Max Hunger doesn't do anything to stats. I waited to receive it again today and confirm it doesn't add to stats. The security captcha which gives +1 Max Hunger works.
18210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Withdraw BTC if underage? on: January 30, 2017, 06:45:41 AM
Is there really an ATM Machine for bitcoin?

Yes. It's mostly one way though. OP, you need to check if the ATM has any requirements for ID verification. Some places do require IDs to exchange Bitcoins.

If you look in this forum, under services, or even under Goods, you can see several services that will send you a physical debit card for your bitcoin without verification. This you can just use at any ATM to withdraw cash. I understand bitplastic.com also do the same thing. The downside might be the fees and the rates, which won't be as good.
Many of those debit cards specifically prohibits Bitcoin related transactions and they also have quite a fee attached.

Bitplastic.com is a scam and please do not advise anyone to use it.

Thanks for the info on bitplastic... I found it and bookmarked through news sites but always good to do some due diligence before trying any service.

About debit cards, I'm talking about the ones sold with preloaded debit or a prepaid card which you buy with bitcoin. The only transaction will be bitcoin to the seller.
18211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CKS]Chicks, very rare!! | hold your chicks and get reward!! on: January 29, 2017, 08:46:59 PM
Hey OP, just saw the vote rewards in, thanks very much! Any chance for the airdrop or any other type of bounty?

Daffa: thanks for your advice. This is in fact my first POS coin, but if I ever get serious about holding more such alts, I'd like to try your suggestion for staking. To be honest, I only keep btc properly, but I do hold tiny amounts of Doge, LTC and ETH - but only because of faucets and such. CHK is really my first alt buy, and honestly I got attracted simply because of the fun concept=)

I went and got myself 300 chicks from the exchange at 120,000 satoshi haha, but quite happy anyway to have that much.

18213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining experiences on: January 29, 2017, 12:55:03 PM
Yes, theres still legit cloudmining these days. Nicehash, genesis, and hashflare. Those are legit cloudmining sites. But if you ask me if its profitable. My answer is not. You will just lose you patience. It will take a long time before you regain your ROI. Investing on a cloudminng is not profitable anymore. Just look for other profitable investment.

Good point to clarify. There are more than enough legitimate cloudmining companies around and some have been operating for years. But this doesn't mean that they're profitable. The general consensus from experienced users is that cloudmining contracts are no longer profitable. They may have been a time when break-even ROI was achievable in months but not any more.

It's easy to distinguish legitimate cloudminers from scams: if it doesn't have a fee/maintenance structure, if it offers fixed returns, it's a scam.
18214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Funding Solar Energy with Bitcoin - a solid state & silicon based economy? on: January 29, 2017, 12:52:10 PM
1. bitcoin mining costs are not an electric concern.. its the ASIC price itself that kills off ROI
one asic costing a non asic manufacturer = $2100+ (plus means delivery PSU ventilation not included)
one asic costing a asic manufacturer = $0
this is because for every asic they sell to the world the asic manufacturer keeps 2+ asics and spare fiat to pay electric, wages and other costs.
electric cost to get a btc in china $225, $450 america and $900 UK. but america, UK and africa would also need to stump up $2100+ for the asic itself.

2. if it costs $1000 for a solar panel to power an asic and $2100+ for the asic itself. the ROI required is well over $3k. sorry but its not going to work out.

3. the heat of africa is also going to fry the asic's, or atleast require 2x$1000 solar investment too cover the ventilation costs. making ROI requirement ~$4k

4. african labour costs (minimum wage) are also low, which due to bitcoins fee war, has priced africa out of seeing utility in bitcoin

5. to raise point 4 in more detail. if you will rebuttle the fee war by talking about LN. .. LN is permissioned contracts with penalties and requiring second party consent. which makes it less appealing and less utility than M-pesa

sorry to be blunt, but the utopian dream of the OP, and the reality of utility in africa are on opposite sides

To a large extent, these are correct observations based on today's current economic climate. I'm also of the opinion that the major concern should simply be the recovery cost for the ASIC, rather than electricity costs, since a long-term calculation anyway means the asic gets obsolete very quickly so that is the chief concern for any would-be miner.

2. If the 1k solar panel is a one time cost, then it might work out for a lifetime of at least 3 Asics (panels do last longer now I think), if the plan is to mine that long. In that case, this even pushes you to only think of the Asic recovery. The solar panel is basically your replacement energy source - even if mining doesn't work out, you can use the energy. Get enough policymakers behind it and you can even sell your energy back to the govt if your mining ceases.

3. Not all of Africa has the kind of heat you're talking about. A LOT of Eastern Africa has very mild mean temperaturess. Ethiopia and a lot of Kenya, both with well-developed infrastructure for mining at least in the capitals (Addis and Nairobi, respectively) , have lots of sun all year round and is on average in the 15s to 20s Celcius. Even Europe has blistering summers more than double that temperature. That's already a natural advantage on cooling costs.

4 and 5. Agree very much, unless mining also comes in tandem with innovation that allows low tech users to access bitcoin, it's not going to work. You need to replicate M-pesa's success with bitcoin.
18215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CKS]Chicks, very rare!! | hold your chicks and get reward!! on: January 29, 2017, 11:59:07 AM
Thanks for the responses guys, think I finally understand now. I guess I'll leave the staking alone mostly for now as it's not worth the electricity to leave my computer on with only 300 chicks!

Not sure if OP is still reading, but I put in my 2nd vote (#22) already, and also waiting for airdrop and whatever other bounty is still available. Faucet gives close to average too, so that's okay.
18216  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-29] Bitfinex’s Hacked Bitcoins Are on the Move; 5% Recovery Bounty Off on: January 29, 2017, 09:42:48 AM
It's been more than half a year since the incident and I think the last official update on the internal investigation was months ago. Still yet to see the full formal internal inquiry... this is only a small portion of the total loss, not even 1% of the total loss disclosed. Even if the value's gone up, still a mere 1.5%. A 5% bounty is really not going to attract any serious interest.

18217  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: CoinFest 2017 on: January 29, 2017, 09:02:06 AM
I'm so glad I found this... I'll be moving to the Netherlands soon, hopefully for a more long-term period and never knew about places like Arnhem.

I'll hope to join the next series of CoinFest 2017 meetups. Will be looking to read more over the next few weeks!

New explore option works swell for me, if I didn't want to catch chat rewards I'd even switch chat off. Just a couple of questions on villages since the guide seems to be outdated:

1. How do I destroy an enemy village? Have brought loyalty down to 0 but the destroy/occupy option mentioned in the guide doesn't exist. I waited for server reset hoping that'd change.
2. If you're attacked, how do you bring your loyalty back up?
18219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt Coin Projects Active on: January 28, 2017, 11:09:17 PM
What do u think about DogeCoin? The price is 22sat in cryptopia right now. Will it rise again? Do u think a good choice for investment? Do u think coin will pump? Over 100sat?

Still i have hope for DogeCoin. I belive pump again and close to 100sat. But need patience. Hope this coin will not dissapoint to me...

Finally, someone mentions my favourite (fun) alt. I was mistaken thinking that the usual January pump would also take place this year (yes there a few days left but it's not going to happen) but it's still one of the oldest, most recognised and most widely used alt that even at its 22 satoshi value, it's not a bad coin to hold for use. Its dollar value has managed to stay in range for the past 6 months too.

Long live DOGE!
18220  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you manage ur emotions? on: January 28, 2017, 02:31:55 PM
I find that emotions are actually a lot more difficult when dealing with long-term decisions rather than on-the-spur decisions. When faced with emotional moments on a trade/sell, I can just switch off or plan to not have access.

But how do you lock-in a 6-month investment/decision when it looks like the price is moving away from your distant TP and closer to your SL?
