18221  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Bitcoin start to price increase? on: January 28, 2017, 02:28:53 PM
The interest for bitcoin is going and exactly the demand makes the price for bitcoin to grow. Add to that the number of bitcoins is limited by 21 millions, so it will not be enough for all people in the world. That's fact also makes the price to rise.

Don't forget that each coin is made out of 100 million satoshi, so even if 11 million bitcoins are lost, you can still have 10 million x 10 million satoshi =)

In theory, even 1 satoshi could be worth a dollar if this scarcity is really a huge problem. Not that it can have much of an effect if it does at the moment (look at how much DOGE is produced and still maintaining a good price!

Haha memang rezeki aiseh!

Tapi apapun well done, aku ngak pernah merasa jackpot apapun tapi di suatu masa nanti!

Perhaps not the most popular thing to do, but I don't think it is wrong for a country to decide such things. It's not something I would support, nor do I think his justification is correct, as I think the numbers show that terrorists don't look to enter as refugees, they either enter illegally or are home-grown, radicalised in country.

Nevertheless, his policies have been clear from the start, and this is only keeping in line with them.

A new setting has been added to the Settings menu. Toggling Explore will change explore between the minimap version and the text version.

If you experience any problems with this new update please let me know as soon as possible.

Fantastic! This has definitely improved speed, especially if walking back to town haha. The only question I have is... will I be notified within the text explore if I stumble on a village/town? Or if I see it in the neighbouring tile? I like the text-only version but don't want to miss out seeing a place to visit because graphics are off.

Will let you know if it throws up any bugs but so far so good.

On a side note, I've been hunting for Jerusalem since I joined, and I figured the 3rd clue out before it was given. Feel quite special uncovering unexplored areas for a newbie... although past -70S I die easily so that's my current border. Hope Jerusalem is as easy to find for a newbie as it is for the experienced!
18225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CKS]Chicks, very rare!! | hold your chicks and get reward!! on: January 27, 2017, 07:04:24 PM
Thanks for the answer Daffadile, it makes a few things clearer, but still I have questions.

I have now left my wallet open for 24 hours with 301.xx chicks. The icon on bottom right status bar says Staking but my main status window shows:

Spendable: 302.xx CKS
Stake: 0 CKS
Unconfirmed: 0 CKS

However, only 2 staked returns (it shows as a Mined transaction) of 0.1 and 0.03 meaning I've only got 0.13 for a day... I doubt at this rate I'll get even 1 chick in a week, never mind 5 haha.

That's not a big issue for me tbh, I just want to understand this staking thing better and want to work out how to get this 5 coins a week. Also, I'd rather not leave my wallet open the whole day when I can get much more from the faucet =)

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hi guys, be ready for the newbie question regarding Chicks...

I've finally bought my first Chicks (not for 5000 satoshi as above rather but at 399 satoshi per Chick haha, so now I have just over 300 chicks and left my wallet open for staking.

Now, when I hover the mouse pointer over the mining icon, bottom right of the wallet, it says:

Staking
Your weight: 51
Network weight:1797
Expected reward: 34 minutes

It's been showing 34 minutes for the longest time... As I'm new to staking, and I understand from this thread that there is a 5% staking reward weekly, does that mean it is given automatically or only if staked the entire week? I'm asking as I really don't leave my computer open the whole day.

Damn yea... The price just shot up. See good investment. Ok the stake for the coin is 25% per year. I only said 5% per week because if you hold over 100 coins so if you hvae 100 you get 5 per week and this is 5% but you only get 5 coins veen if you have 100000 coins. The 25% per year is for everything staking in your wallet. The reason your wallet is saying 34 minutes is because it needs to build up weight before  it gives you an accurate reading.
18226  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How is trading *not* gambling? on: January 27, 2017, 03:24:05 PM
Trading is indeed a gambling since you are risking money to earn money but this kind of gambling is different from other gambling games we know since trading could be learned and theres a proper way on how to lessen the risk and increasing the chance on making money on long term basis which you cant found in any gambling game,This is just my own view.

I have conflict with this statement. i think trading is not gambling. In gambling we have no data to make anaylsis on taking desicon whereas in trading we have all the data and more experience person will surely earn more in trading. On the other hand, experience does not matter in Gambling.Only luck is required in gambling to win.

I promise I am not arguing here, but I think there are certain forms of gambling that do analyse data and that tries to maximise information.

For example:
1. Card counting in card games like Blackjack and Poker. With poker, experience also matters a lot if you take into account learning opponent behaviours, observing for tells etc.
2. "Moneyball" statistics in sportsbook betting or fantasy sports, which takes into account probability and likelihood of individual players in sports such as football, basketball.

Just like trading, one can only use the above to predict outcomes and make calculated risks.

Hi there, thank you for your response. It might be a good idea to edit your first post to add your response/introduction from item #3 below.

Otherwise, of course we all benefit from the sharing of your signals, even if not for the purpose of trade (but you have to admit, signals are for trading!). Once you also post all profit/loss netts, that can be the single judge of signal effectiveness. Will let you know if there is anything to follow up from your offer =)

thank you for your attention.
1-thank you we consider that
2-we will
3-We will do our best hereafter to present analytical signals of various altcoins here.
Our purpose in so doing is to gain feedback from the above-mentioned signals and to make use of your opinions regarding the presented information as well as verification and improving our own procedure.
Therefore we will be really happy to be informed of any comment, critique or analysis that you might have in this regard. Our main purpose in presentation of signals is just to provide information and we don'n intend them to be used in trade. Thus, the responsibility and consequences of using such signals in trading will be on the shoulders of the person who has decided to use them.
(If you know anyone who is competent and specialized in the area of analysing the trade of virtual currencies, we will be glad to have him or her to be in our team.)
As always, will follow signals with interest.

Could improve on the signals if you:

1. Post results of each signal, and daily accumulated nett profit/loss.

2. A bit of commentary and analysis, why the signal? Based on what? Just pure charting formula or also informed by news?

3. Introduction to why you're opening this thread. Are you selling a service?
18228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Gulden a good investment? on: January 27, 2017, 03:09:21 PM
It makes me quite sad to see everyone talking about the 1.6.0 update and how great it is but also forget to mention what Gulden had done before this update.

1. BTC payments with Gulden in all Gulden wallets at any bitcoin merchant.
2. Depositing Euros directly from Gulden wallets into Euro bank accounts. ( Not useful for a US user like myself but perfect if you based in Europe )
3. 0.11 code base update before 0.13 was done in 1.6.0, Gulden has updated twice.
4. First implementation of DELTA
5. Gulden merchants that only accept Gulden.
6. Multiple improvements to Android and iOS wallets.
7. First wallet revamp in 2015 already giving Gulden a unique feel but nowhere near as good as current wallet but still looked and worked better then 99% of what other coins had.

1.6.0 update might be the single best update in crypto history but it does show that crypto is 99% about trading or this would be number 3 after bitcoin and eth.

https://developer.gulden.com/blog/

Hi there, not arguing about how good the seven steps you mentioned above would be for any crypto currency but at least numbers 5, 6 and 7 are really not much to do with the coin itself and can be found to be quoted similarly by other coins.

E.g. ETH merchants that only accept ETH.

Would you care to elaborate what made the 2015 Wallet Revamp better working than 99% of what other coins had?

NOT a troll, pure curiosity.

Just signed up with the name "buwaytress" as in here. I generally like these kind of turn based games - for a quicker experience, can we also have a text-only version? Either way, takes a second too long for loading each new explore for my liking, but still a good speed overall.

There should also be a tutorial to start out with! Good luck with the site, I'll be on it for a while haha.

I've been working on redesigning things and the page load speeds quite a bit lately so you should start to see improvements in it as time passes.

On the top menu there is a key icon where you can disable certain things in game to speed up the page loading time as well such as disabling the left menu, removing parts of the top menu, and turning off chat.

A lightweight version could be possible in the future but it wouldn't be high on the list as I would have to rewrite the game again and I just got done doing that. Took me months and its only me lol.

Tried out your suggestions and it has improved load times - thanks for that! I have noticed though every fight or 10-min interval there is a slight lag persisting but overall the speed is acceptable. I still take about an hour to complete all turns though so it can get tedious if just monster grinding.

Kudos on the game so far, especially if you're writing it alone. You have a new player inducted!

I haven't opened a new altwallet ever... but I have a soft spot for coins that remind me of the playful spirit of DOGE so here goes nothing! Downloaded and opened my first CKS wallet. Even voted on tradesatoshi (#12) and hoping to get some of that sweet airdrop. Any tips for getting my first 100 CKS?

Thanks in advance everyone, and may the Chick be as the Shibe!

CKS address: CPZ9yJJ9CsyK1Huo1eUpuf6LGhDk2x14vN

You can get an airdrop and chick for daily voting. Maybe if you ask the OP  he can give you some tasks. I recommend you just buy the 100 CHICKS it will only cost you 5000 satoshi and then you already qualify for the 5 chicks per week if you stake and don't move plus the 25% per year stake which is about 0.5% a week.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I think I'll buy those Chicks as you say! After all, 5000 satoshi is really not a bad deal for a fun alt. BTW, how do we get the 5% stake bonus? Do we need to ask for it every week or is it automatically sent?

Ah, yes of course. Thank you for the info. Just clicked on it and realised I'd completed most of the tutorial just by exploring and fighting haha. Wouldn't have died 3 times if I'd found that link first. So much like me to just rush in.

I must be one of the smallest players there for now. Thanks for the welcome.

18236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: January 26, 2017, 09:17:03 AM
Let us keep in mind that PayPal's annual payment volume from 2012 to 2015 keeps on increasing (from $150 billion in 2012 to $280 billion in 2015). That in my opinion is a hard act to follow. But I believe that in the future, say 10 years from now, we might be talking about it differently. Right now, bitcoin's market cap is at around $15 billion (having already reached all-time high) compared to that of Paypal's which is at $50 billion.

Paypal was a business venture that had a lot of investments riding on it. It came amidst a slew of other payment processors who are also doing more and more business each year. It's taken them a long time to get to that stage, and it will probably take a lot longer for bitcoin... which is not a business entity.

Bitcoin doesn't have any advertising or financial muscle to flex - it's completely reliant on us, the decentralised community.

Let's see where bitcoin is in 2020 =)
18237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Attraction on: January 26, 2017, 09:09:43 AM
Bitcoin's attraction, now that I am some six months into it, probably is more akin to the gold rush. That lure of (digital) money, that promise of riches in the distant future when this coin gets harder to mine, harder to come by, and rarer. I suppose gold must have started out like that. And we're all looking for our flash in the pan. We're all told it'll get more valuable tomorrow, and we're hoping we can get as big a slice of that pie if possible.
18238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin? on: January 26, 2017, 09:05:54 AM
Here's some logic:  If Trump is a dumbass, then those who support him are dumbasses too.  Trump is a dumbass.  Therefore, those who support him are dumbasses.  It's pretty much that simple!

Trump doesn't have the American support.  He's not qualified to run the most powerful nation in the world and he certainly doesn't share the views of a majority of it's population....including a state that accounts for the 6th largest economy in the world which shares an antithetical ideology.  Any other republican who understands government would be fine....but, this guy doesn't have the qualifications to run the most powerful branch of government in the world....a branch of government that holds the keys to the nuclear codes requires more than a degree in business from some obscure college!  He has never served the public in any capacity....in fact, he's a draft dodger so he actively avoided service

It feels like you are more trying to convince yourself in what you say rather than me. Even if Trump is a dumbass, he is a damn good dumbass to convince half of the US to vote for him. Are half of the US dumbasses too? Personally, I would consider him as a genuine four-flusher and demagog as rare as one in a million. Are you going to challenge that point as well? In any case, for those of us who are living outside the US it will be a good show, and it certainly must go on!

Hillary would likely make a good show too, but the world might end up in ashes in the final part of it

Since hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Spot on. As dumbass as Trump was and as dumbass as the Brexit campaigners purportedly were, they did enough to beat the odds that the smartasses stacked against them to win their respective votes. The masses are not as dumb or as smart as we'd like to think they (we) are.

Whatever you may say about Trump, he has proven his leadership and political prowess simply by winning the election.

And I say fair game, and let this be a lesson to smartasses. Don't sit in your high thrones and think the dumbasses are below you.

18240  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CryptoGiveaways.org - Crypto giveaway website on: January 26, 2017, 07:42:04 AM
If you're running this like a faucet site, you'll want to consider highlighting the Big 4 (BTC, DOGE, LTC, ETH) as faucet users will be able to add to their lists. But I understand you're also going for exposure for other ALTs so you might want to feature a new ALT each week, with perhaps 4 others highlighted each month.

If just getting more alts out there to more people is the main objective, then the above should work.

Be wary that you will have to implement very good anti-bot systems. This is the #1 reason faucets fail.
