1841  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dogeminer.cc seems to be a ponzi scam on: June 15, 2018, 03:29:09 AM
Bro I started for only 300 doge and I almost have 1000+ doge from this site, Now I have profit of more than 1000+

You started with 300 Doge, in  80 days you made 1000+ doge.
Now it is a lie , because every month you need to renew the mining contract so you are earning only 120 Doge in a month.
so in 3 month you will earn only 120*3 =360 Doge only (not 1000+)

Now 360 doge price in just above $1, so buddy you are giving certificate for just $1, very cheap.
1842  Economy / Services / Re: A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin. on: June 14, 2018, 07:11:38 PM

Question:  What is a stealth address? How does it work and how does one use them?

If a business/organization start accepting Crypto currency then business will need to put his public address. But all the transactions on this public address can be tracked.

Disadvantage for business,
1. revenue details of business are available to competitors.
2. Competitors are knowing the client wallet id too (if they able to find  client  associated with that wallet id, they can try to break that client)
3. They can track the suppliers for that business too.

What business can do.

Business can create a  series of public address  to be used individually with each client or supplier  or it can generate a stealth address .
Now when the client send the payment to business in this stealth address,  a unique address will be automatically generated and funds will go to address  and only sender and receiver determine if payment is complete and no outsider will able to trace back the transaction.

So Stealth Address provide anonymity to the sender and receiver address.
1843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I get a full understanding on how to use Blockchain? on: June 13, 2018, 03:22:12 PM
I've been trying to wrap my head around how Blockchain is supposed to revolutionize the world apart from Bitcoin. Is there a video or tutorial out there that will help me understand Blockchain on a level where I can speak about it in an interview or understand how my business can utilize Blockchain? I feel like it's something I need to know at a core level yet after watching probably 20 different Youtube videos I still don't get how business is supposed to profit from Blockchain. I hear companies like IBM and Oracle speaking to how great Blockchain is yet I need some help understanding it. If there is a thread explaining this already that would be great to read.

I think Development & Technical Discussion will be the right place for you question.

For a basic understanding I can say you to read the below article.
https://hackernoon.com/learn-blockchains-by-building-one-117428612f46

Below site sometime offer free e book for mastering blockchain , so keep looking it regularly or you can buy it.

1844  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for other forums similar to bitcointalk... on: June 13, 2018, 02:48:45 PM
Personally I do not find any forum as good as this forum. Some of them are not even forum but a blog site where you read the articles.

If you have too much spare time then I can suggest you to check this below forum too.

https://bitcoingarden.org.

They have little or no traffic , so they are not struggling with spam, but look like all the coin listed there are scams only.  They have blog and other sections that might be interested reading.
1845  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where are all the best and reliable ICOs listed? on: June 13, 2018, 02:37:43 PM
I am a newbie and wonder if there are any reliable ICO listing websites that list the more reliable and the best ICOs out there?  I thought ICObench is a good place to start with, but some say that it's BS...

There is whole thread dedicated for it. You can check it for yourself.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2938434.0

I am quoting my old post, In which I put the guidelines/precautions to be taken when dealing with ICOs and airdrops

4. Scam airdrops.
Although airdrop looks safe bet but in scam airdrops you will be requested to give some donation to receive the airdrops (like .01 Ethereum). Be careful in these airdrops and do not send your money to them.

5.) Scam coins and ICOs.
Although a full proof method cannot be guranteed to identify the scam coins and scam ICOs, but still following point can be taken into consideration before investing.

a.) Developers promise very high returns on investment, Giving too much referral bonus or whole setup look like a ponzi scheme.
b.) Coin/Token is ready without any whitepaper or poorly written whitepaper.
c.) Coin is not solving any problem or implementing any new idea.
d.) Website look poor, Hosted in free platform like "Wix" or there is no https for website.
e.) Dev reserved too much coins for them, or too much premined or any other scheme that is giving undue benefit to development.
f.) No source code available.
g.) Roadmap putting emphasis on listing coin in exchanges instead of doing some real development.
h.) Team members are not known at all

6.) Do not believe others without DYOR .
It is quite possible that person advising about coin/token is associated with pump and dump, or getting some personal gain like referral bonus so it is better to do your own research.

Last but not the least, Never invest the money  that you can't afford to lose.
1846  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Alice Payment in Bob's Cafe on: June 12, 2018, 03:44:49 PM
Transactions with many inputs / outputs are larger (in terms of kb) than transactions with only few inputs / outputs -- this makes the first more expensive than the latter, in other words the amount of data required for Alice's change transaction is already accounted for. If Alice would not require a change transaction because she has close to the exact amount, she could, in theory, save on transaction fees, because a transaction with 1 input and 1 output is smaller than a transaction with 1 input and 2 outputs.

It is also worth noting that transaction fees are not an explicit part of the transaction, but rather the difference between inputs and outputs. So to illustrate using buwaytress example: Think of paying a 4.50 dollar coffee (because starbucks) with a 10 dollar note. You only ask for 5 dollar back so you leave 50 cent as a tip. And it's still just a single transaction.

Thanks for explaining , Now everything  is clear , Alice is paying transaction fees for 1 input and 2 output (generating more bytes in transaction) that will be definitely more if Alice transactions contains only 1 input and 1 output.

Now it become tricky that how we pay the merchant , Alice can do 2 small transaction to make up the sum for the Merchant but Merchant might not be happy as Merchant will get 2 Input and merchant will incur double transactions fess while sending out (so profit decreased .)

1847  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Alice Payment in Bob's Cafe on: June 12, 2018, 12:26:14 PM
I am reading the book

I am little bit confused by this transaction.

https://blockchain.info/tx/0627052b6f28912f2703066a912ea577f2ce4da4caa5a5fbd8a57286c345c2f2?show_adv=true

Book explain that Alice paid for coffee from a big Input and 2 output generated , 1 for payment and other for unspent transaction back to Alice.

My question is, Why Alice not had to pay mining fees that is coming back to Alice wallet?
or it is something like that if you create input from large value, then it is sending one output and make sure update the Input as a part of single transaction to reflect balance correctly.
1848  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Need an explanation over 51% attack. on: June 11, 2018, 01:40:38 PM
I will just like to add that 51% of total Network Hash Rate just make your probability =1 (sure shot success).

Bitcoin whitepaper never ruled out that somebody cannot attack the Network if it has less than 51 % of hash power.

I will like to quote the Bitcoin white paper here.

Quote
p = probability an honest node finds the next block
q = probability the attacker finds the next block
qz = probability the attacker will ever catch up from z blocks behind
qz={
1 if p≤q
(q/ p)z

if p>q}

Given our assumption that p > q, the probability drops exponentially as the number of blocks the
attacker has to catch up with increases. With the odds against him, if he doesn't make a lucky
lunge forward early on, his chances become vanishingly small as he falls further behind

Bitcoin Whitepaper explains very nicely under the heading "Calculations" . It is clearly defining what is your probability to change the chain , if you want to change 2 block or 6 block.

Formula shows that 51% is sure shot  attack but it does not mean somebody having 49% will have no chance in attacking the chain.
1849  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why altcoins price fallow bitcoin price - economical explenation on: June 10, 2018, 12:53:25 PM
Looks like a feasible explanation why altcoin drops with BTC price.
But now how you can explain Altcoin price increase with the BTC price increase because I noticed that when BTC USD price increases, Altcoins BTC value increases.
1850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Market Droping,SELL?BUY!!! on: June 10, 2018, 12:37:15 PM
I will say buy any of the top altcoin , because many of the altcoins lost more than 5% in comparison to BTC. Increase in BTC price might help you get double profit.

For a safe investment keep some BTC also.

1851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency boost: Slovenia creates first bitcoin city in the world on: June 10, 2018, 03:48:51 AM
I guess more user registered here in this forum  than the entire population of slovenia. They are creating there own crypto currency and I think till now they do not have their any fiat currency.

I do not read anywhere in this article that they will be using bitcoin in that city. Article says that they will use Elipay.
1852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it okay to commend an OP? on: June 09, 2018, 09:53:47 PM
It looks like nobody noticed that you wrote "commend", probably instead of "comment". If you meant comment (which really makes sense) then yes it is okay to comment. And you already got your answers. But if you meant what you wrote then please clarify.

Look like you did not try to understand. It is good if you use dictionary sometimes. OP meant commend only.
Commend
1853  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My list of posts awarded merits, and awarded merits by me. on: June 09, 2018, 07:57:31 PM
I'm grateful to LoyceV for creating this list for me, and you may like to look at some other lists that he has created in this thread
Congrats JetCash , I am happy that you and Loyce V  are included as Merit Sources

Since I have joined this forum, you are most helpful persone I have seen. Nicely explained new merit system and it's used. Even you have create a great blog regarding merit system. I appreciate your hard work for this forum. Just I will say please keep it up and help us.
+1 from me without any doubt.

Thanks for sharing this! Already started going through it, and I will be trying to evolve according to your posts!

No Buddy, You are not trying to evolve here, You are trying to adapt according to a particular user.
If you want to evolve then you need to read more , filter some and write less.
1854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it okay to commend an OP? on: June 09, 2018, 07:43:29 PM
Hi,
Will I be tagged a spammer if I read an interesting topic on this forum and decided to commend the OP by writing gratifying post, or should I just read, learn and move on like I have been doing?

As a rule of thumb, you should not post anything in the thread that do not add any value to the post. Forum members do not want you to write the post for just saying "Good post " or "I agree".

Forum already introduced the system of "Merits"  to commend the OP/good post. Since right now I see you did not have any Merit but once you get Merit then you can reward OP with Merits for their post.

Since you are newbie, it will be good if you are familiar with the rules of forum.

1856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should write about our successes to increase Bitcoin adoption on: June 09, 2018, 11:38:55 AM
I was going through a African airport today, on my way back from a project that we launched in Kenya and I saw this book in a little book shop, Mr Bitcoin: How I became a millionaire at 21 by Mpho Dagada

http://jacana.bookslive.co.za/blog/2018/06/07/launch-mr-bitcoin-how-i-became-a-millionaire-at-21-by-mpho-dagada-7-june/

Even though this might not be one of the best books that I have ever read, it shows the success that might be possible, even in countries where you might never have thought that it was possible.

I spend most of my flight home reading the book and it made me think that more people should write books and articles on their successes with Bitcoin to increase adoption.

People like the rags to riches stories and it motivates them to achieve the same level of success.  Wink

Since I have not read this book so I cannot say how good this book is. I a not impressed by the title of book especially the word "millionaire". This will only attract the people for get rich scheme and get scammed.  I believe in attracting the mass with technology or by usefulness not by the money involved.
LN network is not stable right now and I think we have plenty of things to do before it can be adopted by masses.

I agree with you about writing articles and book but title of this book  does not look a good fit to me.
1857  Other / Meta / Re: I need some quality threads for my library project. on: June 08, 2018, 11:19:21 AM

He asked for a new, nice well reasoned thread. I do not think thread for Merit will be considered for library as many of your link point to that direction.
In short, my guess is library should have something on global context not the articles that have visibility on this forum only.

@Jetcash, What will be you take on articles on Games?
1858  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anybody know's How To Invest in HYIP's And Not Lose Money? on: June 08, 2018, 02:41:32 AM
Hi Everyone,

I am new here and don't have any idea about the HYIP websites. Anybody know's How To Invest in HYIP's And Not Lose Money?

What do you want to say? If you able to make profit then you do not care  about them. You will also endorse these to others so that you will get you affiliate bonuses.  Do you think when you will make profit from HYIP that you are scamming the scammers? No, you are just endorsing them for your small profit and lot of people will lose big amount of money. There is nothing to lose for scammers so better avoid them and lets help others also so that they do not fall on these traps.
1859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accounting Firms celebrating blockchain as if they invented it! on: June 07, 2018, 10:48:13 AM
That's the beauty and curse of an open-source programs: anyone can make revisions of it and later copyright it and call it theirs. With blockchain it's no different.

IBM does similar to promote their blockchain services. For the reasons mentioned above, no copyright, no patent...

Well, these comments give me peace. I'm newer (than most) to the world of open source.

So these attitudes and actions are an expected eventuality of the gift Satoshi gave to us all. I still cringe at the thought of Satoshi becoming the answer of a trivia question 10 years from now on "who created the blockchain?"

Might be people in academics will remember satoshi. If you think masses will remember him than you are wrong. In today world people knows only billionaires. No body knows who was Dennis Ritchie. But everybody know who was Steve jobs.
In my mind I have no confusion whose contributions are more worth to the society.
1860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Condition of Participating in ICO (fixed amount) for rewarding bounty stakes. on: June 07, 2018, 03:58:06 AM
Many bounty manager asks for investment in their ICO (fixed amount) for rewarding  bounty stakes  after completion of bounty .Many times it results into wastage of work as they never told about such condition  early starting of bounty. Does any need to make policy in this regards.

Apart from this scam there is one more scam, they will ask for KYC  at the time of bounty distribution. I will say following precaution should be taken.

1. Take part on bounty of established member(at least Senior Member) of this forum or member with some positive trust.
2. Ask these question before joining the bounty.
3. Quote and archive the bounty announcement post as well as the response.
4. If they deviate in future with their promises then feel free to open case at  Reputation board.
