What some people are missing is that Alex Green / Moolah issue is not the reason of Syscoin's collapse. Even before the whole Mintpal scandal the coin's price was way below ICO price. So even if we manage to go throught the court issues we will be back to square one (which means being way below ICO price with bagholders preventing the price from going anywhere beyond 300-'s). I am also one of the bagholders (paid over 300 satoshi for my coins) and I understand that starting from scratch would make me lose some money but still this can be regained with the new coin. If we don't start a new coin instead of Sys then we won't ever attract new investors. Just ask your selves: how eager would you be to invest in a coin that has flawed reputation? Even if the coin is now better than it used to be, you wouldn't probably invest a dollar in it. And this is the main problem os Sycoin now - people automatically skip it while thinkin about their next pick, because for them it is just "this coin that failed at the beginning price wise and has been tanking since August now". Sorry for the harsh words but we have to understand that we - the bagholders - are probably the only ones who are still optimistic about the coin. Devs have proven to be solid and shouldn't waste their talents on this coin. By starting a new coin they will finally make their dream come true and you, the investors, will be happy too.

If they make a new coin, I would never ever invest in the team again because how do I know they wont create a third coin or fourth coin?

please stop trying to make it sound like launching a new coin will do anything good.. it's a terrible decision and makes no sense. I can't even understand why you would want to? if you want to invest in syscoin just go buy on an exchange, it's cheap right now.

What you newbies don't realize is that in a few months or a year from now nobody will even care about this.

What the fuck are you talking about??? If they make a new coin its still Syscoin, wont change a thing. If you have any coins donate them to the team and move on and find a 'new coin', you obviously dont have many!
1843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: November 04, 2014, 04:17:57 PM
I totally support syscoin, but unfortunately if new coin was made with ICO, i would not be involved.

This would be more problems than just fixing imagine of this coin. As the imagine can be fixed with results and successful lawsuit and press from that.

There is no need for a new coin. Starting over too could very well produce few BTC to even be worth it. Really to fix image of coin is more hard work from developers and mostly just getting the business on blockchain out for people to use.

Once that happens people will finally see what is behind the cool tech syscoin has created.

TO be clear haven't announced we're making any new coin. Currently we are focused on the legal issues. We fully intend on continuing with Syscoin (1) development but we must address the missing funds in the interests of investors, coin development itself, and crypto in general.

I want to reiterate - we are not creating a new coin. We are focusing on legal and internal development processes and initiatives - as posted in recent blog posts.

The post yesterday was intended to be password protected with the password disseminated to CURRENT Syscoin investors. Right now the blog is having issues [again]; we'll have this resolved shortly and then release the password as initially intended.

Please let this put a stop to this going on about a new coin. If this did abandon Syscoin and all their investors just to make Sys 2.0 for IPO then they would be no better than Ryan Kennedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: November 03, 2014, 06:50:44 PM
This might seem like a controversial idea but we could at least discuss it. We all agree that Syscoin has great technology and even more potential. The dev team is solid and did not run away in the light of recent scam. However, the team lacks their funds now, Syscoin is tainted by the Moolah scandal, there are plenty of bagholders and there is a risk that Moolah will kill the coin easily by dumping all the stolen Sys (it could easily collapse the market down to 0).

Current situation is not dev's fault. People might be mad that they lost money on this by investing in Syscoin at prices higher than 200 satoshi but the outcome was not the dev's fault. Should we start a new coin + bring all the Syscoin technology there + give old Syscoin holders discount at the ICO? There is no other way to fix current situation. Bagholders are bagholding (or selling when the price slightly goes up), new people won't be attracted by the coin (they have plenty of fresh coins to chose from that bring similar technology and are not tainted) and Syscoin brand does not bring good connotations.

So main question is: should we restart as a new coin?

I think moolah has returned the sys they had from the buy walls to the devs. Syscoin could also be withdrawn from mintpal without problems. What stolen sys do you mean?

The situation is not great, but I can guarantee you starting a new ICO will be a disaster. Syscoin has a fail-image right now, it is irrelevant that it's not all the devs fault.

I would like to read the blog post, but it says the text is password-protected. Thats not intended, right?

I agree that Syscoin has fail-image right now but the devs still have positive image and Syscoin technology. I agree with Qiuyue201 - starting a new coin might be the best move.

Jumping from one coin to the next is not a good approach. I'm in for the long haul.
Improving the tech and finishing the intended product which is IMO unique will bring to light what sys has to offer.
Yes, it has been a rocky couple of months but we can only go up from here on.

i agree. i don't post a lot here but i own a few millions sys and holding for the long run.
starting a new coin is a bad idea in my opinion and i would not invest in a new coin.

btw. the blog is just working fine for me (interesting read!)

It's always a hard decision and some people will be unhappy no matter what choice will be made.
Starting a new coin from scratch with the same great team and perhaps new ICO + some discount if you are a Sys holder might be a good idea.
We have great team but many issues to cope with. Those issues are holding the coin down and that won't change.
Most people in crypto don't even consider investing in failed coins like Sys (because let's face it - despite our community holding strong and devs working hard, Syscoin is considered as one of the failed coins). I am one of the bagholders too, so I will lose some money on this too, but it's better to lose now than when it hits 50 satoshi. Starting from a scratch without this whole baggage seems like a good choice, although it might make ICO holders unhappy. But crypto is gamble so everyone knew the risk taken.

50 sats?  okay we know where your buy order is...  Smiley

Well John wont be getting any coins then!!! If you like SYS buy some while its cheap!! This coin wont be abandoned and then  a Sys 2.0 made just to please some idiots who prob hold less than .2 BTCs worth!!!

Guys, a "big part of the budget" is not "the majority of ICO funds". It just means that enough has been spent that there cannot be a refund.

That said, I would like to know how many coders there are and what is being worked on. A few things are already behind schedule, such as value-adjusted add fees and website filtering.

We did just get the mac wallet though, so as long as another feature is released in the next week or two I will not start handing out torches and pitchforks  Tongue

You may as well start lighting your torch, because I don't think any of those features will be done within a week.
Value adjusted fees are currently looking as nightmare because the more we elaborate dynamic fees - the more ways to abuse this we find. Not sure if it is a good idea at all.

Make a fair price scale for the fees, eg 5 Craigs when price under 2000 sats, 3 Craigs when 2000-3000 sats,2 -4000-5000 ? etc..., would be much easier to implement yet still pretty fair.

So, the dev i asked said it is impossible now to hardfork it to x11+pos with bockchain preserved.

Can s/he explain why? I know of at least one coin (KARM) that has changed from scrypt to X11 without needing a coin swap.

A hard fork is nice and (reasonably) simple... upgrade your client and you're done. A coin swap is a pain in the backside, by comparison. Holders are going to hate it, and so are exchanges. Just MHO, as usual. Smiley

Still not sure why we need to change to X11 in the first place?

Well ill ask him that, maybe the PoS is the thing what he cant implement but i dont really know.

I think now we can stay with scrypt then, and focusing the other improvements.
Even changing to POS is possible with just a hardfork. However It certainly aint easy and almost all coins who didnt have POS built into the code and moved to POS have done a coin swap. As far as i know Diamond is the exception and NOBL is als now doing a hardfork to POS with the help of Cryptonit from Diamond.

iv not heard Pavel say anywhere he has spent most of the IPO funds, where did he say this??

Any good news comming ?

low volume and price will let this coin dead  Undecided
the best news I want hear is Pavel who refund us

That is not going to happen for obvious reasons.

1. Big part of the budget was already spent;
2. There is no way to refund fairly simply because someone bought in ICO price and someone did bought in lower price and there is no way to find out how to refund fairly - buyback is not an option;
3. I simply will not do that because there is no reason to refund - everyone knew what they invest in from day 1 and had working product from day 1. I never even asked for as much as there was invested - the amount was decided by investors and everyone had all the numbers in perfect transparency. I never influenced price in any way and therefore can not be held responsible for any losses on exchange. All I did - offered everyone working coin, allowed people to determine it's value as they see fit and buy that coin with that price.

Pavel could you please clarify

Pavel has stated that coders are coding and that he has already spent the bulk of the ico funds.  I would be interested to know who the coders are and what exactly are they coding?  The last commit on the github was 27 days ago and I dont see a lot happening here and apart from paying himself a fat pay packet I cant see where all the funds could have been spent.

This can't be possible.  I can hire top coders and hackers in Eastern Europe for max $400 per month (1 BTC per month).

So how does one spend ~400 Bitcoins in 2 months?

I own a little CraigsCoin cause I like the concept and potential so I hope this is not true.  With 400 Bitcoins you can accomplish a massive amount of work in America let alone the Eastern Bloc.

Cheers!

True but Moscow isnt exactly 'eastern block' block anymore, its now one of the most expensive places to live, comparable to London or Paris.

Pavel could you let us know what is being worked on and a timeline for upcoming releases. You still have most of the ipo funds for future work??

I think he said 'wanted more at 3 to 5 sats' and 'Should have taken 6 sats' so it didn't happen. and now it's too late.

wanted more means he already bought some for 3 sats!!!! Porky pie??
I'll be sending 100,000 Nobl for the infographics very soon as well Smiley

Bad news...prices going up....13 sats being bought.

Bad news because i still got some BTC waiting to get matched at a lower price so start selling....... Grin Grin Grin

The price kept on going up.....SSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL Huh Huh Huh Huh

Free market dude, if you think noble potential ends @ 15 sat you should definitely sell.
I think it worth much more then that.

My goal is to buy things and not just sell against BTC, time will tell...

EDIT: Oh I'm so stupid, I didn't realize you are trying to buy Tongue

Yes........had BTC up for ages and got some matched. I can see it going to 80 - 100 sats sometimes next year hence wanted more at 3 to 5 sats.

Should have taken 6 sats Grin Grin Grin
3-5 sats? Where do you buy Noble for that price? The price may have dropped to 5 quickly in Poloniex once or twice but doubt any more than .2 btcs was sold at 5, but 3 sats?? i doubt it

Not sure if anyone notices the main issue here:

Probably half the features on these coins (if not more), and atleast half the coins alltogether are the work of Dan M. and you are basically paying him a few thousand BTC's to link these coins together to share the work that has been already done.

Instead of being a honest dev and making 1 ultimate coin/project he made several coins that have been pumped and dumped under his name. And now they are linked together for a huge ICO?

I hate to fud but what the actuall fuck is this?

+2000 BTCs Wink

Yes, it may take a while to sort all this out, but at least green hasn't
disappeared after all, interesting that a newspaper has located and interviewed him.

Also, that just after he acquires the "management" of Mintpal it gets "hacked".
Yeah ....right....by him.
weasel.

'Interviewed' him through twitter dm or email!! Green never disappeared, its SYS and everyones balances that have disappeared!!
