1841  Other / MultiBit / Re: this transaction is not standard and should not be trusted on: April 18, 2016, 07:22:41 PM
Hey, i received bitcoints to my MultiBit 0.5.18 and i can see the bitcoins in my wallet balance, but cant use or send them to other address. When i go see transfer history page that says "this transaction is not standard and should not be trusted, seen by 20 peers.

Can anyone help please?  Cry Im new to using Bitcoins..

You should update to 0.5.19. There was a bitcoin network patch that causes this problem.
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I sent an Unconfirmed bitcoin on: April 18, 2016, 07:12:18 PM
I just received $20 bitcoin but it's been 3 hours and it's not yet confirm can I send it to other account?

Yes, you can. Read below whether you should.

What are the scenarios ?

#1 The transaction (TX) pays a reasonable, but slightly low fee and has no unconfirmed inputs. It will confirm soon and so will your follow up TX.
#2 The TX pays no or a very low fee. It might be forgotten by the network and never confirm.
#3 The TX pays a high fee, but depends on an unconfirmed input (or a chain of these inputs) that pays no or a very low fee. The longer the chain the higher the chance the TX will be forgotten or double spend by someone along the line.
#4 The TX pays no or a very low fee and depends on an unconfirmed input (or a chain of these inputs) that pays no or a very low fee. All warnings signs should have gone on by now. Its unlikely that the TX will confirm.

There are ways to defend against #2, #3 and #4. Namely rebroadcasting the TX(s) in question, but the higher the number in my ordering the lesser the effect.
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Auroracoin: Importing private keys from Android wallet to desktop wallet on: April 18, 2016, 07:06:56 PM
Ok so it seems your backup file is still in the old (pre May 2014) format. Yes I think you should ask the Auroracoin people. In the Bitcoin world, you can import those WIF keys into Bitcoin Core with importprivkeys.
Andreas,
do you know any tool to convert from WIF to Base58 ?

WIF keys are in base58.
1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help! My Transaction Will Not Confirm on: April 18, 2016, 07:05:01 PM
I have verified that I'm sending to the right address.

Transaction ID: d946d8e66e707ec231e5ee48a5aabc8cca2e3eb329bb70abf50dedb1197697c6-000

Keep core open so it can rebroadcast the transaction.

1846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Retrieving unspent bitcoins from the blockchain on: April 18, 2016, 10:37:43 AM
...Without full blockchain syncing, you can't see the funds in your mSigna wallet AFAIK. Your wallet is currently downloading and verifying (syncing) the block chain & you'll see the transaction(funds/btc in your mSigna wallet) once it has downloaded it all. ...

Im not really 100% sure, but I think that if OP changes the network settings within mSIGNA
to connect to a separate node as stated in this link: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/32314/how-do-i-use-msigna-without-the-standard-bitcoin-client,
then mSIGNA should not have to download anything or work with bitcoin-qt/core.

So by using someone else's node and connecting to them, you are outsourcing the blockchain data and storage
and mSIGNA should work like a SPV wallet.

Atleast that is what I'm hoping for, for the OP. Otherwise this will take some time.

Yeah, mSIGNA needs a full node to connect to. Its the reason I never bothered with mSIGNA. OP can use one of mine if they want to (188.68.53.44 or 213.165.91.169) and think they can trust the node/me.

1849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 18, 2016, 10:25:22 AM
The current number of nodes is perfectly fine, but why do you think that "regular users" cant run bitcoin core?
Well, I would say that the 'average user' can't bother with downloading so much data in addition to the constant need to sync and waiting when opening the wallet. I know a lot of people but only a few use Core like myself.

In this case youtube or netflix isnt for the 'average user' either. Anyway, I was hoping for a statement of thejaytiesto since they seemed to have something in mind that should be done.

The only thing certain about ppl saying it can't be done is the certainty that they won't be the one making it happen...[/i]
-snip-

Since you addresses me directly: No I never said it cant be done. I indeed said I wouldnt do it. I said CPU and RAM should be fine (so Im not sure why you quote all the numbers regarding this). The main problems I see are #1 the data plan (unless you run it strictly on WiFi) and #2 the battery life. If you have a phone that needs constant WiFi and a cable every 2 hours (or an additional 1kg of external battery), you might use a laptop instead. If you are in it for the technical interest, go ahead.

There is a difference between saying I wouldnt do it (and here is why) and it cant be done.
1851  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to sign a message?! on: April 18, 2016, 09:11:02 AM

what does p2sh means?
P2SH (a.k.a Pay to Script Hash) is a new type of bitcoin address which was introduced as part of Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 16 (BIP 16) in early 2012. P2SH addresses can be secured by more complex algorithms than traditional bitcoin addresses.
P.S.-> https://bitcoin.org/en/glossary/p2sh-address , https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2SH
.In simple language(words), you(we) can say that P2SH=multisig.
Maybe I should try using the Bitcoin Core and electrum.
No offense but I'd suggest you to use traditional wallets (e.g. blockchain.info old web wallet) ATM. After educating yourself, you can go for modern wallets for sure IMO.

Thats wrong though, thats like saying all numbers are integers, ignoring the rest e.g. fractions.

thanks, added a section for p2sh addresses after I read your posts in the stake thread.

what does p2sh means? I can't get my private key in blockchain.info because I have already made an update there. I can't find the import/export in new update and there is no going back anymore, its my fault.
Maybe I should try using the Bitcoin Core and electrum.

These are two different things. I linked a guide how to export private keys from the new bc.i (v2) in the OP.
1852  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Bittcoins auf Wallet runterladetn on: April 17, 2016, 08:38:43 PM
Hi!

Mache ich nun was komplet falsch?

Thank you so much for showing and teaching us how to sign a message and verify it. Everyone should know this, a highly recommended information. Another knowledge I've been acquired, hoping to learn more about this or any related information.

thanks, added a section for p2sh addresses after I read your posts in the stake thread.
1854  Other / Meta / Re: Job forum on: April 17, 2016, 08:21:40 PM
You wouldn't see many legitimate posts in a dedicated section. I'm pretty sure it would be one of the least active section, excluding local boards.
I suppose it's best to keep those posts in the services section.

I post a link to NXT-job sub forum so you can see what it looks like:

https://nxtforum.org/job-board/

Looks like the services section to me.
1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 17, 2016, 08:14:42 PM

Regular users can't use this program as a wallet, even though it's the most secure, it's not suitable for daily use.
The wallet was not designed for the average user. This is why there are lightweight clients.

But ideally, we should encourage the average user to run nodes too. If you make a software having in mind only a small niche of people, it will never have tons of users.

I think we could achieve something that is attractive for the average user, that at the same time runs a node. Then you can unlock a "power user" mode with tons of extra options. But we must somehow get more and more people running nodes, this is the #1 priority to keep Bitcoin healthy.

The current number of nodes is perfectly fine, but why do you think that "regular users" cant run bitcoin core?

1858  Other / Meta / Re: Job forum on: April 17, 2016, 07:31:39 PM
It would be good if Bitcointalk-forum had job-posting subforum directed specifically toward crypoto currency related jobs. Now there is a "services" subforum but it is not the same thing. If search jobs I dont want to read that it is possible to play at casino with cryptos.

Good idea or bad idea according to you?

These topics should go in the gambling section and not in the services section. If you posted "how do I earn bitcoin?" You will get these answers, but that not because of the sub board you post. If you want to get hired let people know what your skills are. If you post "experienced c++ coder looking for work" I doubt any would answer "you can gamble". If so, its an offtopic post and can be reported to staff.
1859  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Blockchain - Transaction rejected Max number in single transaction on: April 15, 2016, 05:11:06 PM
Betarigs, nicehash, clevermining - plus different exchanges from trading various alt coins. (is that what you meant?)

it nearly 24 hours now - so will wait couple more hours and will try to restore from Seed.

Thanks for your help :-)

Yeah, mainly a high number of TX with small BTC value. Gotta go now, would appreciate updates how this turned out.
1860  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Blockchain - Transaction rejected Max number in single transaction on: April 15, 2016, 04:58:59 PM
I paid 0.0008902 transaction fee

So does that mean I just have to wait and it will eventually go through?

Cheers

With that fee? I dont think so. Thats 89k satoshi for 177kbyte of TX data. I dont think any miner will stuff that in a block without a larger reward. Wait 24 hours, restore the wallet from seed (is there another way to rescan for electrum?) and send again with a significant higher fee. I would suggest at least 177*1000*50 satoshi. Might as would round it up to 0.1 BTC.

btw. where did you get the coins from, faucets?

Edit: Just another thing I though about. You can not even hope to have a high enough priority because the TX is significantly over the default space for "free TX" of 50kbyte (meant for several TX, not just a single one). I have no way to check the inputs right now besides writing a script that does so and not enough time to do so, but I suspect that even though you are sending a total of close to 5BTC (with some small change) the majority of inputs are very small. If you have received large (in btc value) TX in the past and a high number of faucet (or otherwise small) payments, ditch the faucet payments[1] and just use the larger inputs. You can do so by using the "send from" feature.

[1] I might buy the wallet with only the small inputs left at a reasonable discount at a later date.
