No idea about fees but if you have the privkey you can import it into any wallet you like, but you'll need that wallet's passphrase to do anything with it subsequently.

Hum not real understand that point "but you'll need that wallet's passphrase to do anything with it subsequently"
You speak about passphrase of import privkey or of the new wallet ?
Does the new wallet need the same passphrase than the old one ?

Certainly evident for you, but not for me.
When you import the privkey into a wallet, it's exactly like someone sent you the DRK. The wallet now has more DRK in it, it's gone from the wallet it came from. That's it.

I think last question B4 testing it.

If i generate privkey when adress have 1000 DRK (MN case).
I use this privkey 30 days late in a new wallet. in this 30 days, 17 drk come from MN fees.

Does the privkey give me 1000 or 1017 drk ?

It will give you 1017. Smiley

Darkwallet being leaned on, Darkcoin being driven down... maybe the war has begun?  Grin

actually, I think you have a pint

I don't drink these days, I'm daft enough when sober, but thanks.

edit: see you in gitmo!  Grin

at this time im real stupid ?

If i just need the privkey, like E9 87 3D 79 C6 D8 7D C0 FB 6A 57 78 63 33 89 F4 45 32 13 30 3D A6 1F 20 BD 67 FC 23 3A A3 32 62.

Why dont hakers dont try generat aleatory privket and import it to they wallet ? ? ?

im sure i miss something, but what ?

Try generating private keys and importing them - get back to us in 11 billion years when you find one that has any DRK in it... it's a big address space...

edit: lol, I should have just made a video.  Cheesy

Thats it, probability, lol can be like playing loto.

But not impossible than one days some one find my privkey an take my DRK ?

dont forgot im noob here, dont you realy think no one try one day ?

Why ?

Don't worry, it's much easier, cheaper and faster to hunt you down and torture you for your password than to waste supercomputer time generating privkeys or brute forcing strong passwords.

If i well anderstand you just need privkey to import and no need the adress ?

Does paper wallet use this method ?
The privkey is what the address is made from. If you have the privkey, the client makes the address out of it.

It's just like GPG.

This is the reason why your BTC(S) could be saved. BTCS and BTC used the same schema becasue BTCS was copypasta from BTC. If not for that, you'd have lost your coins.

Mintpal exported the privkey from BTCS wallet and imported it to the BTC wallet, it generated the exact same address, and poof, you got your coins back. This is the exact same thing.

Exact same function at work. ;-)

Does it mean if i sent TBC to the TBCS adress again, TBC gone in my TBC wallet directly because pivkey was already import ?
Does that method use  transaction fees or that just add a new adress in the wallet ?

EDIT :
Does it mean i can try to generat aleatory privket and import it to my wallet ?
Does it need the password ?

The wallet where we want import the privkey, if he already have a password, what happen ?
Does its must be a virgin wallet or can be import in existing wallet (with DRK in different adress)?

No idea about fees but if you have the privkey you can import it into any wallet you like, but you'll need that wallet's passphrase to do anything with it subsequently.

Heh, wasn't Ignition75 or Icebucket looking for exactly this the other day?  Smiley

Has anyone tried using paper.darkcoin.io? Is it safe? https://paper.darkcoin.io still has an invalid certificate (I won't repeat my browser's warnings here, they're rather alarmist).

Has anyone tried using it or the http: version, or can confirm a good way to check the javascript hasn't been tampered with by a 3rd party?

I used this one.
https://github.com/internetape/paperwallet

download, go offline, open index.html in your web browser
generate wallet(s), print.
go online, send like 1 drk to each just to check, and try to import one of them into your wallet, to see if it works.

I just do a dumpprivkey in the console, paste the output to a text editor and print it out, don't see the need for a 3rd party tangle of code. No disrespect to InternetApe, whom I of course adore.

Can you do screen copy step buy step of this please ?

I'm currently busy stealing the artwork for the upcoming official wallet and giving my masternode tools suite a new paintjob...  Grin

Just disable darksend, move all your DRK into a new address, then go to Help>Debug window>Console and type listaddressgroupings - copy the address with all your DRK in it, then type dumpprivkey <paste address> and it'll spit out the privkey for that address. Copy and save it/guard it as you see fit.

To import it into another wallet, go to the console and type importprivkey <paste privkey> and wait a while, it'll import the balance of that privkey which will then no longer be available in the old wallet.

Simples. Try it out with a small amount.

Ok thx, can i do it with my MN wallet ?

If yes, if i loosing my MN wallet, in can import my 1000 DRK in a new Wallet.

It can be a very very good starting point to be safe.

does the private can change after update or its for life ?

Thx

Yes, you can do it with your MN wallet. The DRK will stay in that wallet until you import the privkey (and thus the DRK)  into another one. As Oblox pointed out you have to unlock your wallet first, I always forget that step!

Yes. But the coin is dying and there is a tiny window to save it by creating a Btc mixing service to get new Btc into the coin. Do it while the marketcap is large enough to handle decent volume.

So if that's what you think needs doing, why not get off your arse and do it instead of moaning that nobody is doing it for you?
Because the market is avoiding Drk like Ebola due to it being closed source.

-We need to do xyz because the sky is falling!

-OK go do it then.

-I can't because the sky is falling!

While I agree a BTC mixing service would bring tons of volume and market acceptance to darkcoin, I don't understand how you would get anonymous bitcoin out the other side. Exchanges do not provide sufficient anonymity when exchanging DRK for BTC. How would that work?

And what's the point anyway? As soon as you spend those BTC they're traceable straight back to you unless you jump through a lot of hoops. Why not just use DRK, that's what it's for.

The real market won't use a closed source anon tech solution. They can always use XMR.

DRK will be open sourced when it's ready, that has always been the plan. XMR doesn't qualify as competition, it's a copycoin by talentless oafs who couldn't build a simple GUI for four months. That's utterly pathetic given the tools freely available.

I personally think going closed is what is killing drk. The experts like AA are avoiding it and the whales did not react to RC4. Also markets will not form around closed source tech. There was a window to gain the support of the privacy community. Drk was leading that race.

Nothing is killing DRK.  Huh

It's a tiny and volatile market, currently filled with ADD lemmings, prices will fluctuate. Meanwhile clever people are getting on with building something amazing.

Anyone whining about the current price who isn't actively participating in some way to add value to the DRK ecosystem should really shut the fuck up, it isn't anyone else's job to give you a free lunch.
The current price is a signal. Ignore at your peril. The market does not like Drk as currently formulated.

You think I'm getting a free lunch? I invested in Drk. The price drop surprised me. I'm being factual about what happened. No amount of wishful thinking or new tech is going to get whales investing when they did not invest after RC4.

At some point Drk will be forced to open source but by that time the market will have moved on. They will be either using another open source anon tech or fork Drk and start fresh.

The large mining at the start, block reward change midway and name is proving too big a burden to overcome. It's baggage that someone will discard. That's why Drk may have the best tech but the market is selling it off. The market is betting against Drk. That is a fact.

'The market' is as I said is currently a very tiny group of (mostly) idiots. That's not a market anyone should be caring about.

The real market is out there in the big wide, the ones with real money who are crying out for a way of keeping that money private. They are the target demographic, not a few clowns with short attention spans in the crypto scene.

StealthCoin is the first to have TOR implemented before release, so the coin is not base on HYPE like the scam Darkcoin. also, StealthCoin is going to be the first coin to have anon work correctly, as intended.

The TOR project is openly owned and funded by the US government, who also run most of the exit nodes. Good luck with your cunning plan!

I don't think it's a threat to bitcoin at all the two have different purposes.

You have to get into bitcoin to get into dark so it isn't even like it canabalising investment.

I think alt haters like to scapegoat alts, especially the ones with potential when the bitcoins price drops. When they should, well we all should be fighting the nyc regulations instead.

I don't think DRK is necessarily (or intended to be) a threat to BTC, but that's the way a lot of BTC supporters see it, which is flattering I suppose.

You haven't had to go through BTC to buy DRK since Bitfinex.

And there's little realistically to be done about the NYC thing - it's being used as a testbed for further regulation, by people who aren't interested in anyone else's opinion about the sanity of it. If they succeed and drive cryptocurrencies underground they are just going to achieve what prohibition always achieves - huge price increases for the commodity in question and big profits for those who have access to it. Let them regulate away.
