The point is that the dash "governance system" is not "one man, one vote"

Well you've sure got a point there.

I always thought that if I stuck $100 into Apple I should have as much say as these guys. I've got some pretty neat ideas for Apple that I think are better than theirs anyway.

See if you can't convince them of your "one man one vote" idea. Sounds ideal to me   Cool

(P.S. Speaking of whom, here's quite an entertaining little skit for those looking to fill 2 minutes).

DASH is a scam

Well even if you invest now you should still be able to afford yourself some nice accommodation to cope with up and coming developments by the time they arrive Wink

...here's a fellow traveller who might offer to keep you company.
1843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 25, 2017, 05:39:42 PM

Dash market shorts starting to cover as 4-hour correction now closing.
Somebody make Charlie Lee a nice cup of tea Wink

1844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 25, 2017, 12:48:14 PM

We offered the core team the option to bid(with no minimum) on the slack that we built over 1000 users with 15,000 messages a week.   What did they bid?   No response.  Not even a we want it, but we don't want to pay.  Genius move.

I think the consensus was that that slack had become so toxic and conflicted that it wasn't worth a cent.

So as you correctly say...genius move Wink
1845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 25, 2017, 11:58:48 AM

- Shadowcash has a two tiered network.  One set of addresses is completely tra
nsparent.  The other set is mixed.  You can transfer between the two layers and keep the first set looking like unmixed transactions.
- Maidsafe will do instant and anonymous without history that can be tracked.
- Zcoin has indicated they may change to do mixing 100% of the time and still have a transparent blockchain.   A much better solution to fungibility.  This still might get the flag - but at least all Zcoins would be worth the same.
- Zcash will have thunder - Like lightning.
- Lightning will enable mixing and instant transactions.  Looks like Litecoin may even be first with Bitcoin after.  The mixing happens off blockchain so it shouldn't be detected by Coinfirm.

This illustrates a couple of significant points.

a. That every coin is going to support some kind of privacy or other and for that reason it's going to fade into the background as a USP soon

b. Of the above, Dash is the ONLY (yes, only) case that doesn't do it by either diversifying the coin supply into transparent/opaque = resulting in destruction of fungibility, the very thing you're trying to optimise - or with recourse to an offchain solution

i.e. it inherits the bitcoin model and supports on-chain transparent fungibility. Thats the cash model going back 10,000 years and the reason Dash could support it is because its network has a pro-active protocol that takes a holistic approach to mixing, rather than doing it transaction by transaction. i.e. it's organic and its privacy improves over time because all of the coin supply is subject to mixing on an ongoing basis. Even if you don't use the "private" option in your particular wallet, someone before you did and someone after you will. History is constantly being scrubbed, day after day.

The other beauty of this approach is that it's not centralised in the protocol. Hypothetically de-anonymise one transaction ? So what. You need to do it all again just to find one more. On the other hand, protocol-based obfuscation is an all or nothing math-based tightrope. You solve one problem and you've cracked the whole chain.

Just to add, looks very much part of a soft marketing campaign by coinbase............'spontaneous' twitter exchange in the build up for coinbase adding XMR.

Well lets hope for the sake of my remaining XMR holdings it isn't already priced in Wink

1847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 25, 2017, 09:50:31 AM

Charlie Lee, not much care there. He is obviously such a power house of innovation............

He might have a point though. Maybe we should create a new coin..."the Charlie Lee way !":

 • start from scratch and dismiss the formally expressed community will to conserve it as an "original"
 • ditch the articulated protocol so...
 • no native network monetary value
 • interest on holdings
 • ...or incentivised nodes
 • ditch the idea of making crypto "user friendly" through the worlds first active-consensus based DAPI
 • ignore 10,000 years of monetary history which says that transparent fungibility is a high value monetary property and worth doing properly
 • forget the idea that a monetary "bearer instrument" (commonly known as "cash") ceases to be that unless the blockchain can scale natively
 • dismiss the problem of giving all 4 stakeholders a voice that allows them to assert their views on the asset's governance, instead of only bitcoin's 3

Only 1 problem to solve then - how would we gain any traction after creating Charlie Lee's "perfect cup of tea"  Huh

Ah ! Get Evan's brother to list it on the world's biggest bitcoin exchange exclusive of any other altcoin - that should do it.

(Oops, Evan hasn't got such a brother - he might have to succeed on merit  Embarrassed But wait, @SatoshiLite has maybe we can use his Wink He's a "fair" guy after all).

It looks like masternode number went down by 20 masternodea could this be the reason for the price drop?

The nodecount is around 70 off the ATH at the moment which isn't abnormal. It can easily be a few of hundred off it from time to time as node collateral changes hands.

http://178.254.23.111/~pub/masternode_count.png

When the price rises there's more market liquidity and therefore an increased number of trades of a magnitude that can count for node collateral, so you get nodes disappearing and reappearing. Answer therefore is likely yes - it could be the reason for the price drop (or at least the two are related, though we don't know which is the chicken and which the egg Wink ).
1849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash rep got destroyed on this interview on: January 23, 2017, 05:02:11 PM

seen all your tricks  Cool

Well none of mine are as effective as that little "squiggle" on your flowchart.

That sure is a handy tool for when you're short on cognizance Wink

1850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash rep got destroyed on this interview on: January 23, 2017, 04:25:54 PM

nobody answered my inquiry about blockchain analysis unmasking DASH

Well at least your spelling's an improvement on your analytical deductions, even though it has some ways to go Wink
1851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash rep got destroyed on this interview on: January 23, 2017, 03:47:48 PM

its only pseudo claim to fame, anonymity, does not exist.

Feel free to demonstrate this claim at your convenience  Wink

Meanwhile, if you include the one design priority you deliberately left out then you'll in fact discover that Dash is as yet unsurpassed as a privacy coin  Grin
1852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash rep got destroyed on this interview on: January 23, 2017, 02:02:36 PM

zealots

Speaking of which, how's your forehead these days ?

I hear these come in handy. You might even be able to pick one up on alphabay using a certain stealth coin that doesn't tax your sense of injustice so acutely. There you go - relief for you on 2 fronts at once - don't say I'm not helpful !

You'll need it because apparently...

Your trading tips are of course also appreciated. Hopefully you'll stick around Wink

1853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash rep got destroyed on this interview on: January 23, 2017, 08:57:08 AM

...I can't see many people wanting to mine them for much longer.

A visit to your local optician should fix that.

1854  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 22, 2017, 02:22:34 PM

Any reason for this $20 instant dip or is this just normal correction?

One theory:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg17475939#msg17475939

And:

...a sharp retrace back up to the propellor "nose" which would be around 6700 CNY (~$900-$950 dollars), followed by a slow retrace back down to half the lower propellor blade (5900 CNY = $750) and then starting the next bubble from there which may go to $2000 by July.
1855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 19, 2017, 02:49:33 PM

I expect a lot of money from another coin floating into dash in the next weeks.

You might be right but I think the techno-trainspotters usually prefer to stay on the platform. Their anoraks have more impact there and "business priorities" have more to do with locating the nearest cludgie than anything industrial.

We must always keep an open mind though since I see that re-enfocements have arrived and their market is being scaffolded up as we speak to the tune of a quarter of a million dollars, so the "threat" has been picked up on radar alright  Cheesy

(I just hope their anoraks don't melt in the intense heat of the train passing   Shocked )
1856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 18, 2017, 02:46:24 PM

Yes, monero has a use case like this heavy, slooow "Heavy Gustav"

A solitary sugar grain tells the story...

Bitcoin: Some traceable ‘lumpiness’.

Dash: Bootifully transparently fungible and not traceable.

Obscurity Tech: wtf ?! Shocked (Am I looking at a sugar bowl or a steaming plate of bat's p*ss with one floating grain that I'm allowed to see  Huh ).

1857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 18, 2017, 11:24:00 AM

"Great Gustav"

Out of curiosity, what is the "Great Gustav" ?
1858  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2017, 08:25:11 PM

If you think the handle has formed already, I have a bridge to sell you.

Cups and handles are fractal patterns that you can see at any scale. Take your pick and we can sell each other the bridge  Wink
1859  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2017, 07:06:56 PM

What is different this time?

What's "different this time" is that we're at the right end of a humungous great 3-year cup & handle trading pattern instead of the left end  Wink

1860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 17, 2017, 07:05:34 PM

Wtf is hobular ?

Yes. It is indeed the Huobi Bitcoin exchange.

Apologies for my eccentric take on common terminology. Gives me occasional boredom relief.
