Hey Phil! Was wondering if you ever got around to writing a review up for these NewPac sticks yet? I searched throughout this thread and couldn't find any posts with a link to your review. Anyway, hope all is well with you!

I decided not to purchase any more mining equipment for a bit. Then, sidehack starts making these bad boys. How can I say no to something like this stick? Looks like my decision to hold off on purchasing new mining equipment did not last long..

I ordered this hub

18443  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 07, 2018, 01:03:28 AM
these were bitmain hodlings a couple months ago, BCH is almost at the same rate from the date of their leaked IPO documents March 31

https://i.imgur.com/yaMTaqU.jpg

that looks like a huge chunk of coins. of course assuming they still have all of them which i doubt.

I think the S15 sales will determine that next position of where bitmain will stand. and what is more important is the overall market situation. should we see another bull run soon, i think bitmain will survive at least by selling what ever worthless asics they are stuck with " assuming they will become profitable if prices should go up" . if we stay in bear market for couple more months. then it may be a fair-well to bitmain.

yeah  it is interesting to see what will happen.

I wonder if they will do a longer preorder on the 8th or gear will be a fast release. (very important)

A 6 week wait or longer on the new gear and the info floating around against them could man they are in trouble.

A fast ship and decent gear could mean they will right the ship.

And a long bear market will hurt them.
18444  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Rumor that Bitmain is going belly up! can't pay its chip builder! on: November 06, 2018, 11:58:27 PM
Thanks for doing the address thing again Phil. Definitely not as bright and shiny as last year but who knows how many wallets they have. I could see all this BCH drama and work to prop it up as having cost them quite a bit.

It's funny that on one side there are the stories of impending bankruptcy, and on the other there is the launch of the new product line.

Almost smells like a big old PR stunt. Agent they preparing for an IPO or something right now. So even if half the news is speculation about money problems as long as they can show they are not broke it's not harmful.

[...]

I would think contracts vary.

Bitmain has had a lot of chips burned to wafers by that foundry. So I would think they could ask for more than some other companies.

Z9 mini is fairly quiet - and will probably become a space heater in about a year.

L3+ are like that.

Good heaters.

The best a s7 with lots of mods was around 0.22 or 220 watts a th

The s9j can do about 88 watts a th

On a chip rated about 0.068 watt a th.

Bitfury 100 watt a th  gear

Can go as low as .06 watts a  th.

So a .042 watt chip

Is going to be more like 55 watts maybe 60 watts a th.

I just wish two things a manual speed not auto tune.

As I prefer slight underclock.

And if it goes on sale on nov 8 I hope it ships quickly.

If it is 1200 I am looking at 1600 after shipping and tax.

Not sure it is worth 1600 unless it comes really fast and does 55 watts not 65 watts

Anticipating has been and dependably will be a dolts errand with regards to this industry. There are simply such a large number of factors to separate it into basic numbers like you are doing in your post. While its actual if things remain static, the standpoint is somber however I exceptionally question that will remain as such for long.

Duh Jan 1 is not long.

So If I picked up on a august 24th to Jan 1 trend  good.

BTW  if diff jumps through the roof so what.

there are multiple way to make money .

Finding a side movement in diff lasting August 24  to Nov 15  has real money value to some of us.

18448  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / [Off-topic] Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 06, 2018, 01:58:55 PM
This is without a doubt the most myopic, ignorant thing I've read in these forums. If you're making "business decisions" based on something other than profitability you're nothing more than an idiot. If you want to use some self formulated definition of "altruism" to govern WHAT TYPE of business you engage in fine. I have no idea why you brought your mother into this.

why do you chose to insult him that way?

I agree that comparing a whore to a janitor may not be a good decision.

But saying his mother is a whore is a terrible thing for you to say.
18449  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 06, 2018, 10:02:18 AM
Only hope for BTC diff to stay low is BCH to succeed hard fork and drain mining power with it.
A more profitable SHA256 coin should keep BTC diff reasonable.

Getting Bitmain on their knee is the end goal for mining business as I see it by keeping a low BTC value.

what are you talking about?

BCH had a hard fork more then a year ago.

As per my thread title this does not apply.

This thread is until the end of the year.

Some leaked info  Grin

Hashrate =34TH
Price = 1200
power = 1500W

these information was giving to me by a Chinese friend who is an loyal customer of bitmain.  I can not confirm/deny but usually his leaks are accurate. let's find out in 2 days.

RIP S9s  Angry

1500/34000 = too good too be true.

44 watts a th is head and shoulders better then the m10 which is about 68 to 70 watts a th.

But they did claim under 50 watts a th.
18451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 06, 2018, 04:13:09 AM
My understanding is that the X2 and X4 nests serve the same basic function, i.e. hosting multiple Acorns on a single x8/x16 PCIe. So I don't understand why the X2 has USB connectors but the X4 doesn't. Wouldn't it be just as helpful to connect your X4 nest via 4x USBs as it would for the X2?

They don’t serve the same function.

The 2 card works well with boards that don’t have lots of USB ports.

The four card is designed for boards that have lots of ports.

The 2 card is really good for threadripper boards which are short ports.

The four card is good for 1 full slot board with 13 ports.

I have a threadripper 1920 board it can do only five cards.

Add 1 two port jumps me to eight cards.
Add 2 two port jumps me to eleven cards.

And the four port does not help with this board.

I guess if you have a threadripper and the four card added lots of ports you may want it over the two port.
So I can see you complaint.

Well they announced on twitter two new models this week.

https://twitter.com/BITMAINtech/status/1059636075243524098

but is it a long preorder?

Hate to send in coin  and wait for 2 or 3 months to get one.

I have two orders in with CrazyGuy. One for over a month, one for a week. Both are still showing as processing. I have left a message on his board and replied to his shipment e mail, and I have heard nothing in return. Starting to get a little concerned.

he sent mine last week

I have heard other rumors.  I do not Have much info.

We have heard from multiple sources close to Bitcoin mining manufacturer Bitmain that the company is no longer receiving chips from its chief supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company TSMC.

Bitmain’s account with TSMC is reportedly in arrears to the tune of over $300 million. Bitmain owed TSMC $1 billion but could only manage to pay $700 million and is unable to pay the remaining debts.

This news comes just two months after market research firm Sanford C. Bernstein & Co published a report suggesting the Chinese ASIC manufacturer’s prospects were so dire that TSMC should abandon favourable credit terms with Bitmain.

from the link above.  Damn could it be true!

Things are so dead with alt coins.

MY L3+  are working well for heat.

I use watts mod

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3546316.0

700 watts earns about 2 bucks on nicehash.

so 700 x 24 = 16.8 say 17 kwatts a day or 1.70  with 10 cent power.

about 30 cent profit and free heat.

This is really interesting, I want to try it out. I wanted to ask, what is the benefit over buying something like  a S9.. current prices are like 250-300.  Comparing similar ASIC chip coUnts will this setup burn less energy compared to an Bitmain machine ?  Non the less, Amazing work for the community!

They are quiet and many of us may have a place for 1 or 2 that  costs zero for the extra power.

I use a fan with mine  but I clock them higher then 100

If you clock at 75  they will run silently.

Point them at a pool that offers a bonus for hitting the block.

You get a free chance  at a block bonus  or a very low cost power wise chance at the block bonus..
