Would migrating to something like a .me domain eliminate that liability?
Not sure, it would have to be a domain that is not under control of a U.S. company. National domains would put us under control of another country so I'm not sure what's the best option.
.bit would be ideal.

For the moment GLBSE is ok, we're still quite small and hope to continue to be able to fly under the radar for the time being.

Of course we also sell honey.
How much for a jar of honey?

maybe the plain or almond, but I didn't order any to try, so I don't know
I ordered the almond, plain & chocolate flavors.  The almond was my favorite.  It had a complete candy bar taste to it and I highly recommend.  The plain was also very good.  My wife, who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, tasted the plain caramel and said, "this is excellent."  The chocolate had a very dark rich flavor, I could tell they used high quality dark chocolate.  After having tasted these, I wish I would have tried the salted.  I can see another order of perhaps almond/salted/plain/chocolate in my future.

Box of assorted caramels and free lip balm received.  Items were exactly as described and packaging was excellent.  It was less than 48 hours from the time I placed my order to having the product in my hands.  Definitely a great seller.

I can't stand all this liking and tweeting bullshit. Everyone knows that the internets feed on hate. Research shows that common hates produce stronger social bonds than common likes. But where is hate monetized on the internets. Like if I suggest something and gamble that everyone will think it is worth hating on. If they hate on it in sufficient number I get paid. If not I lose my deposit. Then a great repository of hate can be built. Sort of like the library of Alexandria.

If trolling could be monetized that would be good too.
Hm. How about a site that allows you to pay to drive the item DOWN instead of up? Then you can monetize in both directions! Grin
Haha, I like that idea!

A 2nd address should be added to vote down the topic.

This site is awesome.  Nice work.

I'd also like to throw out the idea that you can use www.dailybitcoins.org to send coins to 1 article per day that you would like to vote up.

Ordered.  Will report back.

UPDATE:
I've ordered from Bees Brothers several times now and have always been impressed with the speed of delivery and the quality of product.  Definitely an asset to the Bitcoin community.
18568  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] MergedMining BTC/NMC Mining Company on: January 22, 2012, 03:36:11 PM
A dividend of 5.466BTC has been paid.
this is 0.0005466 btc/share, correct?
No.  The current weekly dividend is 0.001BTC/share.  Shares owned by the company do not receive dividends.

We are now selling our donated mining power through GPUMAX.com to more effectively raise funds.  I have updated the main post with the new pool and login information.  Edit:  Decided to go back to exclusively using slush's pool for accounting and visibility reasons.

The 5870 has now been sold.  I'll be removing it from the rig tomorrow night so there will be a drop is hash speed until our 5970 arrives.

Following. I'm a newcomer to GLBSE; any advice/tips/tutorials?

How to Buy Shares:
1.) Sign Up and Create an Account

  • open browser to https://glbse.com/client/glbse/index.html, enter a password to encrypt locally stored data, click "Go"
  • You should now be in "Account Managment", click "Register New Account"
  • You should now be in "Create New Account", click button "Generate new KeyPair" and enter an account name (any name will do) in "Enter a name for this account", click "Register"
  • You should be back in "Account Managment" and see the newly created account. Click the "Use" button next to the account name you entered before.

2.) Deposit funds

  • On the "Account Page" (It says "Global Bitcoin Stock Exchange" as title and there's a menu on the left), you can see your bitcoin balance on the top left below the title. Lets deposit some bitcoins by choosing "Deposit Funds" from the menu.
  • You're now on sub-page "Deposit Funds", click button "Get Deposit Address". You will see a bitcoin address in the text field below the button you just clicked.
  • Send some bitcoins to that address and wait for (I think) 7 confirmations. Click the "refresh"-icon to the right of your balance to see if the funds have arrived. (I sometimes get an error "verification failed due to incorrect signature", also when using other menu items. Dont worry too early, it seems to reliably work on second try)
  • You should now see your funds in the balance (top left)

3.) Buy shares

  • Choose "buy" from the menu.
  • Enter "MergedMining" into field "Enter the asset id"
  • Enter "5" (for example) into field "Enter the quantity you want to buy"
  • Enter "1" into field "Enter the price you are willing to pay"
  • Click button "Buy"
  • To verify you have bought the shares, you can choose "Portfolio" from the menu. You should also see the transaction in "Bitcoin History" and "Assets History".
  • To see the status of the Asset, choose "Asset" from the menu, enter "MergedMining" into field "Enter the Asset id" and click button "Get Details"

4.) Backup the keys

The keys for an account are stored as local data somehow in your browser. Maybe not a safe enough place... to make a backup, do the following:

  • go back to the "Account Managment" page by clicking button "Accounts List"
  • click button "Export Accounts"
  • click mouse in the big text area that appears and hit Ctrl-A or otherwise select all the text
  • paste that text into a new text file and store safely somewhere

18575  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] LIF.A, LIF.B, LIF.CX, and LIF.M on: January 19, 2012, 03:57:23 PM
I don't understand how the LIF.CX fund can go from paying a reasonable dividend one week, and then the following week have lost 90+% of it's value - assuming the current bid orders are Peter's.
Perhaps LIF.CX was Peter's Bitcoinica account and he got Zhoutonged.
18576  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - updated Aug 24 with new miner versions on: January 18, 2012, 05:29:18 PM
They should release a new version of GUI miner that is no actual update it just changes the date to 2012 Smiley

I'd like to see it updated with the latest improved phatk OpenCL Kernel that was released 1/13/12.

I lost the free $1 he gave out to new users a while back.  Angry  I guess I won't turn $1 into a million after all.
