1861  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Confusion about sweepstakes and gambling on: May 17, 2023, 11:38:13 AM

2. Is Sweepstakes gambling or not?

Yeah it's another kind of gambling though not all regards it as gambling since they don't need to stake a penny to participate, cause stakesweepers gambling doesn't require the entrants to place a bet or money as a way of multiplying their chances of winning as that is described as illegal. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.viralsweep.com/advanced-sweepstakes

Note:
Often times scammers do send private messages unsuspecting persons congratulating them to have won in a stakesweepers contest, so people are usually advised to be careful not to be scammed.
1862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is importance of old bitcoins that woke up and moved in 2023? on: May 17, 2023, 11:02:56 AM
Some times I read articles that write about very old bitcoins like come from 2010, 2011 years. They woke up and were moved in on chain transactions in 2023.

I read some discussions that those old bitcoin movements can create fear on the market. People think those old bitcoins can be dumped on the market and will cause a price fall.

I don't think those old bitcoins are enough to dump the market. Those coins and movements only cause uncertainty and affect people with weak mentality.

Please share your opinion.
Most times such articles are built up to exert fears and tension among traders in the market, panicking to sell out based on what they have read. Some of these article company's have lost audience as it were and  therefore making up a subject as this to cause FUD among unsophisticated investors in bitcoin could attract a traffic wave for them among crypto enthusiasts .
If anyone with such decades old bitcoin decides to sell, it's possible that such person or persons has got a dire need to deal with money and that doesn't mean it's going to have a devastating effect on the market. The market doesn't always have to be rosy anyway.
1863  Economy / Reputation / Re: My 10 000th post on: May 16, 2023, 08:29:40 PM
Congratulations!
They say the journey of a thousand miles starts with just a step and it's clear and worthy of note to see you (LTU_btc) hit a ten thousand plus figure posts. I can only but imagine how much wealth of informations and solutions you must have contributed into the forum with this 10,000 post mark and still counting...
In such a few years you were able to achieve such number of posts with quality and content driven, so there's no excuse as to why some person's would be dishing out low quality posts and spamming, for it's either they're not dedicated and concern about  quality delivery or they are unserious fellows.
1864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wrong Predictions as price keep failing! on: May 16, 2023, 05:18:44 PM
Nobody bitcoin price prediction has work this season, I told my friends early January that this year will still be difficult for bitcoin to rise since they're still blocks on digestive and ingestive policies of government, why bitcoin should not stay by government. But they argued me to a fault but I knew bitcoin will not gets to $40k this year. The price will definitely rise but not at the moment. Do you predict the price to any level year?
OP don't you think this post would be more appropriate in Speculation board.
As you can see the year 2023 is not yet over and moreover we haven't gotten to half part of the year still with seven months remaining before the elapsing of the year. So there's so much time for bitcoin to rise even above the 40k market price you're beaten at.  As for the government, they are only worried about the control they are deprived of by the decentralization of the currency and not that they're unaware of the economic potentials bitcoin can give to their economies.

1865  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: May 15, 2023, 10:07:14 PM
It's been awhile I try daily to make profit

Stake casino mostly mines

But it take back profit.. I have 2k balance.. is there method

To get 100 $ per day
Are you for real, $100 profit per day? Maybe yes or maybe no. And that is because gambling is a game of luck and you can't always win even if you were an expert on any particular game be it slot games or sports. It would be a lot more easier for you should you not give yourself a targeted amount  to meet up as profit  per day and be satisfied with whatever profit that is made and in that way you wouldn't be mounting any pressure that could lead to making bad bets.

It's worthy to note that gamblers obsession to making profit at all cost through gambling is part of the many ways that have led to gambling addiction among gamblers.
1866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am confused !!!! on: May 15, 2023, 04:02:56 PM
Good day to you all, I am new here and I will like to get your advice, apart from bitcoin,do you think that there is a high possibilities of making profit from other altcoins.
First, Altcoins are cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin, and the term altcoins is coined from the words "alternative cryptocurrencies".  Experience has shown that altcoins are not reliable to invest on as there are so many pump and dump altcoins that have led to the frustration of so many investors as they ended up dumping in value and didn't gain value after falling till date. So far, altcoins is never an advisable starting point for newbies, so it better you start up with bitcoin.

Also which wallet do you advise a newbie like me to use to store my coins.
Are exchanges wallet an open source wallet. How can I differentiate an open source wallet from a close source wallet.

Electrum wallet is more friendly and easier to understandably use for newbies. And as a non-custodial wallet you have complete control over your asset.

1867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of war on bitcoin on: May 15, 2023, 03:00:37 PM
Most of us believe that if there is a conflict, the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will plummet. But that is not true, because in 2020, there is a global pandemic that severely damages our economy, but what happened in Bitcoin that time? Price hikes have caused an abrupt surge in the market, indicating that there is a lot of demand. As you can see from the chart, it reaches an all-time high. As a result, I believe that if there is a war, it may be beneficial or detrimental to crypto.
In terms of the global pandemic of 2020 that amidst it still bitcoin market surged high like you said, true it did and that's because there was a huge cooperation all over the globe from both international organisations to countries and individuals against a common enemy the COVID-19 but in a war situation the conditions are different on the people. In a situation of a global war bitcoin would not stand a benefiting chance in the sense that respective countries and even individuals also would be pulling out their investment suddenly each to their own welfare and sustainability.

And it's likely that countries that have investment in bitcoin would pull those investment off to use the proceeds to strengthen herself military-wise, while on the other hands individuals would need money to be able to stuck foodstuffs and others needs of sustaining themselves throughout the war period. All of these actions would rather be negative to bitcoin price falling drastically and there's no benefits in that case.
1868  Economy / Gambling / Re: Slot Educational Parade on: May 15, 2023, 11:56:01 AM
in the video, it is not explained which region (city) it comes from but it is clear that the parade is from my country, in the parade it is clear what slot players get when they play from the "first" month (still motorbikes are expensive) to month "fourth" (ugly motorcycle).

without direct education by the central and local governments to young people and the general public, I think this kind of parade is not effective enough, it's even obvious, the parade is the initiative of the private community in the area.

do you think, a parade like this will be effective in reducing the level of gambling addiction?
The objective of the parade which is about advising people from quiting gambling and not turning to gamble addicts relative to the possible dangers that follows.
In my own opinion, I think the objective may not be well achieved compared to if it were to be some kind of a town-hall symposium lecture they would have dug deep in exposing the dangers of gambling addiction to the people with a question and answer section that might have followed rather than just a parade that addresses the surface of the issue.

Addiction of any kind didn't start up in a day in anyone's life and as such just a one day parade isn't effective enough to dissuade addicts from it.
1869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ridiculous Bets that disappointed you on: May 14, 2023, 06:01:52 PM
For sport bet lover like me I am already accustomed to the surprises and ridiculous outcomes some of my bets results gives me. Immediately I place my sport bet I always expect the unexpected cause games you were expecting to play as predicted based on the team involved would then turn out a huge disappointment while some other with less expectation turns out to save the day for you.

Just imagine picking games like:
PSG v  Nancy
Bayern v schalke
Man. City v Southampton
One would think that these games would be a walk away win for the home teams and would be eager to stake in a large amount believing nothing is gonna stop it from playing as predicted but then either PSG or Man City or both would end up losing the match or draw.
Can you imagine how ridiculous it could be thinking about it.
1870  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: May 14, 2023, 12:38:47 PM
There is no normal being that loves getting losses on business, career, investment and trades that's why even company holders make financial policies to keep record of investment and profits flows. And unlike other business bitcoin also makes sales and losses if you do not investment wisely....is nice when you put in what can not put you sickbed or gives you hypertension, don't invest out of what you cannot withstand the loss.
Your investment advise does transcend beyond just bitcoin investment penetrating into other facet of businesses and it's more honorable and peaceful when people put in to invest amounts they are easy to forgo in case of a loss in the investment compared to going beyond ones financial strength.

Is better to use small money or learn risk management first before investing especially newbies.

Most times, it's the lack of risk management knowledge that puts many investors out there into making and taking wrong decisions about their finances. And it would be helpful should investors try to learn about risk management to help them in certain financial decisions about their business. As there is a clear distinction between an investor with a good risk management knowledge to another that doesn't posses a glimpse of anything about it.
1871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: May 13, 2023, 09:37:18 PM
This is just the basics, but anyone should be aware of it:

Budget: set it BEFORE you start gambling and stick to it.
Have a break from time to time, it is important to let your brain stop and consider.
Avoid drugs / drink as much as possible, they will make you loose some control innevitably.
Seek help if you feel you are no longer in control. Make a phone call to a friend or go out and speak with someone.

Anything else anyone can think of? Like... read this post before gambling? Tongue
What I did is? Letting my Wife handle all our funds and just allow Her to give me my weekly budget to gamble , in that way I managed to maintain my spending amount and only that I need to decide when to stand while winning .
nowadays I have learn my ways and yes she do not need to give me my allowance for gambling because I understand how much i need to gamble and also I know when to stand from table.
this
You're such a lucky dude in marriage bro, you didn't just marry a wife but a kover and a friend. We don't always get to have such wives that has no issues with our interest to gambling not to talk of one that agreeably allow us a given budget for gambling.

Gambling comes with excitement while on it particularly for those that lacks discipline and when we get carried away we loose control over our self control to decide when to stop, not to chase losses and quit. That excitement gives us a glaring hope that we can recover our losses immediately only to end up with nothing but total loss. If you  can kill the excitement within that comes with gambling then you can be in charge of your sanity as to know and implicitly decisdes when to stop or quit.

This matta wey drop make sense well well, and as dem talk am say "seeing is believin" na for African man Dem make that talk for.

The tin wey the really make people dey fear to put their money for tins like dis na becos of the past schemes dem wey don com clear people money wey Dem entrust into their care without having to see  physical office and at the end no body talk anythin or even government sef no even make investigation to arrest the perpetrators dem. 1874  Economy / Economics / Re: How do feels losing money? on: May 13, 2023, 11:10:11 AM
Some days looks like a curse day, I wanted to keep it to myself but I felt it more reasonable to share. I involved in some business investment which initially the promise was really good after week of deal,

The first warning sign and easy way to detect a scam related investment is the promises that it comes with, like they are too good and enticing to be true.  And many persons fall to all of these due to their obsession to make money which then blind their sense of judgement to ask supposed questions and make deep enquiry into whatever investment scheme that come their way. Let's learn to be patient in our little efforts cause it will eventually pay, it doesn't have to be fast but it's definitely going to pay off in an interesting way instead of rushing into a sham of quick investment returns that would end up causing you trauma.
1875  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is something big happening behind the scenes that no one is talking about? on: May 12, 2023, 09:31:33 PM

Long story short - is something happening now? Is there something big that's happening behind the scenes and no one wants to talk about it other than behind closed doors?

Yes, Google, Amazon many other giants had to cut down costs, staff and more, but why crypto gambling sites?
Why not crypto gambling sites? For all we know crypto gambling sites are not supernatural or with impenetrable powers that they can't be affected by the so-called economic crisis that has affected so many multinational corporations and companies and if crypto gambling sites are affected then it's no big deal as long as they ain't shutdown but had to cut down some services and packages to keep business moving.

1876  Economy / Reputation / Re: Are they too high quality so easy to rank up? on: May 12, 2023, 05:19:18 PM
I sense some feeling of frustration and OP I think you shouldn't deter just yet for not having merits to your posts based on the level of efforts you must have put in and by so raised your expectations on merit.

Focus on improving your posts, the contents and your diction too, cause for you having 13 merits already it then shows you ain't a bad poster only what you need do is to  improvement on it. Am sure there's someone out there that's going to notice your efforts and reward it with a merit but that doesn't mean you should classify every post you create as worthy of receiving a merit.

You can share some of your quality posts you think is merit worthy maybe Fillippone can come across it and make a review:

1877  Other / Meta / Re: Account rank and posts on: May 12, 2023, 03:48:45 PM
<…>
As mentioned, the Activity will decrease and, subsequently, you may be de-ranked depending on how many posts you delete. The good news is that the Merits will stay, so in the hypothetical event depicted in the OP, it would only be a matter of posting (and time) to recover the Rank. Bear in mind that Recoverable Activity would not be available as an accelerator to recovering Rank if you delete all your posts.

In broader terms, some people have managed to de-rank their account from Legendary to Sr. Member and even back to Newbie, as well as others have taken their Hero member account back down to Sr. Member through to Newbie.

Not that I frown at people deciding to delete their posts for the sole purpose of de-ranking themselves and on the other hand it doesn't in anyway fault forum rule in doing that.

But am just raising a concern I conceive in mind after reading your comment, like in a situation where an OP gets to delete a particular post of his which contains quality information, solves certain regularly asked questions that might be of a burden to a newbie or any member rank at all. So to me I think if many people continue doing that we might lose some answers we could have easily sight or pointed to in the forum when we meet similar questions that such reply/answers could have resolved or been of help to but then it already deleted by the OP.

I don't know if you understand the perspective am talking from.
1878  Economy / Reputation / Re: Heads up on this user on: May 12, 2023, 01:38:20 PM
Hi everyone, a few days ago he made a post here asking for someone to do a data entry job and he also had one before about designing images.

He agreed on making a deal but after asking for atleast an escrow or a downpayment he no longer respond to my message.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3544144

There is no money involved yet but I just want to put this as a warning incase he makes another post here asking for help. Atleast a decent guy will reply that he no longer need someone for the job instead of ghosting.
It's possible for some persons to act this way for reasons personally known to them but in this case lets try to sway our mind by asking the question: what if he's suddenly battling with some health incident after the whole post which now impedes the poster from given a feedback to you.
Except the poster is still active after making the post, having a deal with you and then not replying there then it can be assumed he/she is ghosting. OP what I expect you to do now is to take your mind of it as one of those normal fail deals we encounter in businesses.
1879  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can a beginner in the forum significantly grow? on: May 11, 2023, 10:35:42 PM
The forum basically is not too hard for anyone to grow, and what I mean by that is, "your growth in the forum is a dependant of your seriousness to acquire the basics as it concerns the forum and bitcoin entirely". There are so much of resourceful materials available through the threads of others members of the forum that you can always draw knowledge from to the significant growth you're looking for.

Some of these are threads made by members of the forum with the aim to help others grow too by knowing what they know and improve on it.

1880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 11, 2023, 02:26:45 PM
Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment and what did they do?
The mother and the son after gambling away 5.6 million naira, that is about $8,000. When the reality dawned on them, they gave false information in petition, accusing someone of fraudulently transferring the fund from their Opay account to the sport betting account without their authorization.

Accordingly the court has just done the right thing to send a caveat to other wayward gamblers from trying to push the consequences of their actions to some innocent person out there.

Just as it is with trading same goes for gambling, always gamble with an amount that you can let go so that the impact of your loss don't cause a thing on you. The only time I can blame anyone for my gambling losses is when I gambling to the discretion of someone with a gun point at my head, apart from that there's no excuse to blame anyone for a gamble loss.
