1861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a bull market? on: April 21, 2015, 11:24:34 PM
Some people are saying that altcoins have entered a bull market. If so, does that mean that we will start seeing 10 or 15 new coins launched every week like we did last year at this time? Any thoughts?

This isn't a bull market. I think we're going to see mostly flat prices with further consolidation (less coins) throughout the summer.
1862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Centralization in the Bitcoin Ecosystem Inevitable? on: April 21, 2015, 09:47:54 PM
My bitcoins will be as centralized as I allow. I suspect that the future model for most BTC users will be a centralized system using traditional banking, shared private keys, etc. But that is not my future. With bitcoin I have the choice to hold my own keys, run my own node, be my own bank. I will continue to operate in the parallel bitcoin economy.

This seems correct. Bitcoin gives consumers the choice of using a centralized service provider or to go it alone.

I also think when we look back at bitcoin in a few years, we'll see how it opened the door for other coins that will have already surpassed it in popularity. Competing blockchains will become instrumental in preserving digital currency's decentralization.
1863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin VS. Litecoin on: April 21, 2015, 08:30:08 PM
Bitcoin is a lot better than litecoin.
Litecoin keeps declining and is outdated now.
The reason litecoin was successful back then is due to the lack of competition in altcoin when Litecoin was created.

^^^ I think what he said plus the Litecoin developer now works for a boss that frowns on staff playing with Altcoins.

Instead of splitting it up among the community, I vote for sending all the coins to Max Keiser for all the work he's done advancing cryptocurrency.

"I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood and pay for their meals using crypto. I have a dream!" ~ Max Keiser

Max Keiser is the Martin Luther King Jr. of the Cryptocurrency movement.
1866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream on: April 17, 2015, 01:48:57 PM
Which App/Company can bring massive BTC adoption to the world?

Create an impenetrable online pharmacy that requires no prescription and is open to everyone worldwide and the Bitcoin dream will be realized.
1867  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: What Does Bitcoin Mean for You? Comment and Win 1 Bitcoin on: April 17, 2015, 01:42:37 PM
Bitcoin to me means buying things online that I normally would never be able to buy.

i'd love if sig campaigns would be no longer allowed on this forum. it would remove soo many posts!
the problem is how to detect them Wink

my sig is no sig-ad btw Wink (i developed and host it myself)

I don't think your going to see any moderating changes soon....the avatar functionality of this forum has been broken for years. That must be a super complicated fix. Too bad Satoshi's not around anymore. I bet he could figure it out. lol
1870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 17, 2015, 03:36:15 AM
i've been around this community a few years and i still don't get why anyone would chose bitcoin.

Drug dealers, cyber hackers, underworld hoodlums, and anonymous fraudsters will always need an efficient way to exchange/ransom money.

Bitcoin does an excellent job at providing that niche medium of exchange.

1872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is archcoin a great investment or just pump and dump? on: April 15, 2015, 03:33:19 PM
Would you consider goldcoin to be part of that 99%?

Yes. But I think Goldcoin has a shot of escaping that trap if it can manage to build a stronger community and escape the MEH.

I can see the society at large being attracted to the brand, but in order to reach critical mass it will need careful nurturing and more open development.
1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is archcoin a great investment or just pump and dump? on: April 15, 2015, 03:20:13 PM
is archcoin a great investment or just pump and dump?is there a website to download the wallet?

No altcoin is going anywhere unless Bitcoin permeates the masses.

Then, only IF and WHEN the consumer widely adopts bitcoin will it begin looking for alternatives. Find the altcoin today that consumers will embrace tomorrow, and you will have your winner. Archcoin (along with 99% of its peers) appears unlikely to have that magical recipe of branding and function.
1874  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Help with Ripple-Bitstamp Transfer on: April 13, 2015, 02:06:44 AM
Sent bitcoins to bitstamp through ripple trade and used the same address that everyone else seems to be using.....been 2 days and not showing in my account. Is support off for the weekend or something? Contacted 3 times no reply. I have seen that some others have had this problem, wondering how and if you solved it.

Thanks

You should be okay as long as you remembered to include your unique destination tag. The last time I made a Ripple deposit to Bitstamp, it took around 3 days to post to my account.

Now when I need a reliable and fast Ripple exchange I use Cryptsy. My deposits have always been nearly instantaneous when using them.

It didn't give me any unique tag. It just said send to this address:     rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B

The destination tag tells Bitstamp which account to credit.

If you click "Deposit > Ripple" you can see the address contains a tag at the end like: rvYAfWj5gh67oV6fW32ZzP3Aw4Eubs59B?dt=2355214781

I generally just click the green "Send using Ripple Web Client" button which will add your destination tag to the payment in Rippletrade.

1876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Making a profit with Litecoin in a sideways market? on: April 12, 2015, 02:00:24 PM
I'm not sure that Litecoin is moving sideways? It seems to have been on a slow and relentless decline ever since its creator left for Bitcoin.

Proof of departure #43 - In March 2015, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee in the following video (7:55 mark) places Litecoin in the footnote of his personal "history" and reveals that in 2013 he decided it was time to go "all in" Bitcoin and work full-time for Coinbase.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIgjogLipvk

In addition, his boss at Coinbase has made it clear in public tweets that altcoins are a complete distraction and that the company focus must remain on Bitcoin.

The only thing surprising to me is how LTC has managed to stay at its current levels.
1877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 11, 2015, 01:20:57 AM
just as your attempt to plug your shitcoin in any thread regardless of topic.

difference is I being the largest goldcoin holder i don't really need to trash gldcoin in threads, i can do it on market Wink

Playtime has been fun, but I have to go eat dinner now. Tongue

Besides, I've got other interests to attend to: http://rt.com/news/248473-transplant-head-body-canavero/
1878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 11, 2015, 01:09:10 AM
you mean repeating the same dribble ad nauseam. and yes you're all in on goldcoin so you see things very slanted.

hey I'm a large gldcoin holder but i see things clearly ie gldcoin won't get anywhere, crazy premine, block rewards reduced by you in a vain attempt to pump and its only reached its peaks trading wise by random pumpers that themselves had no interest in the coin.

Your adolescent hatred for Goldcoin is well documented on this forum. I guess attempting to trash GLD is the best you can do regardless of the thread topic.

hint though if I was the dev of a coin i'd be looking after my own coin rather then trying to FUD others.

I was simply providing the obvious answer to the poster's question. I'm not long LTC so it's easier for me to see things clearly.
