IMHO you should purchase $10,000 worth of BTC's, wait until the price doubles, and then sell $10k of your BTCs to buy hardware.
1884  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: May 02, 2012, 04:37:44 PM
Can anyone here tell me how to overclock past the 840mhz limit in ATIcontrolpanel overdrive?  I am using unlocked 6950's.  Also how do i get past the 775Mhz limit on my 5850s?

On my windows machine, i can use msi afterburner to go beyond 900mhz.  Im BAMT i am limited to the default 840Mhz in the overdrive control.  I did try making the setting higher in the bamt.conf file, but this seemed to have no real effect on the clocks after restarting the session.

Also, is there a way to make new ATIOvedriveCtrl shortcut links and then have them autolaunch and load profiles upon bootup?  Something similar to making shortcuts on windows and purring them in startup?  Maybe there is a script to use?

I also noticed in my quad card rig, i do not get the pretty graphs on the desktop.  any advise to enable that?

Any tips or help is greatly appreciated to help me squeeze out that last bit of MH/s!
Have you tried flashing your USB again with a fresh BAMT .5c and doing the config again?  I find sometimes if an error occurs the clocks will stay stock even if you OC the config and reboot, and only making a fresh install makes it work again.

5-letter dot-com's are worth more than .co.uk's, but it could theoretically be worth buying to the right person..

placed an ad square on bitcointrading.com, very excited about this!

Tiny problem: I noticed that on some of the ads when you mouseover to them, the web address has double HTTP'ness. (http://http://)

1894  Other / Off-topic / I need to recover data from this USB stick and the case is made of steel, help! on: May 01, 2012, 02:02:41 AM
hey hey!  it looks like my sister should have made backups of her data.  she bought a stainless steel RetailPlus+ 16GB USB stick, I assume she thought the stainless steel casing would protect her data, but actually now it is more like a prison for her data.

she has like 10 years of financial records (for her work) on here without any backup and it's extremely important that we manage to recover it.  apparently someone stepped on it while it was plugged in (which is a great way to break a usb stick!) and it looks like it's broken pretty good.

now, when I plug it into the computer, it shows up as a generic usb device under "My Computer" and it even shows up in Disk Management without any partition tables or anything.  I used like 10 different data recovery programs, none of them are able to do anything with the USB.  When you click on the device in "My Computer" it says "please insert a disk into _____".  My guess right now is that the USB functionality of the device is still present it's just the actual memory module itself is detached from the rest of the stick.  The PCB itself is slightly damaged, but not terribly so.

I could probably solder any broken connection, but I can't get the damned thing open!!

There was a little keyloop thing on the end, I cut it off, it sort of allows me to put a screwdriver in the back and push the PCB forward but I don't want to push too hard and damage it, it moves like a 1/4" and then won't go any further.

I've uploaded pictures of the device here --> http://imgur.com/a/JUHTx

ANY advice on the subject is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!

The only thing it is really good for is to sell and buy bitcoins for it. I'd say it is a very useful thing. Thanks Canadian mint.

I think this will be the greatest bitcoin purchasing platform to date!

The GTX 690 is great news!  I hope it absolutely annihilates AMD's offerings and they will release the damn 7990 already, I'm sure this is what they were waiting for.  Now they'll have to offer it at a competitive price which means we will be hashing on the cheap!!  Or they can release 8990, I'm not picky or anything. Cheesy
1899  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] PSU (Single Rail, Prefer Corsair or other higher-end PSU) on: April 29, 2012, 06:05:48 PM
Hey i'm looking for a power supply, the amount of power it outputs is irrelevant so long as the price is right.  I prefer single-rail Corsair's but there are a lot of other comparable units out there.  As long as everything works 100%!

Post here or PM with offers!
