did we get our second board yet ?

its been weeks now

Cablepair said in his thread that the PCB's were shipped out to him on the 2012/05/29 and pretty much as soon as he received them he could ship the new boards out.  Once we get the new boards we will be at 2GH/s instead of 1.6GH/s thanks to the new bitstream.

Can you signup to Intersango with a Tormail address and use Tor to visit the exchange without having your account frozen like MtGox.
1883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 01, 2012, 08:53:54 PM
I get around 80KH with my CPUs to mine LTC, I think it's pretty good when you consider the alternative is idle CPU.

If your electricity is free, then yes. OTHERWISE, you're better off taking the money you'd spend on the extra electricity cost of running your CPU at 100%, and buying the LTC that way.

I agree but its very difficult to buy LTC with cash at the moment unless your going via the route of GBP>BTC>LTC.
1884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 01, 2012, 08:52:02 PM
I don't really think we need to worry about making LTC GPU hostile. I think as long as a CPU can mine at least SOME coins, then it's okay. For example, remember the BTC web miners that would generate BTC on a website while you browsed? Well GPU mining killed those dead. But because GPU mining isn't such a large increase in power compared to what GPU mining did for bitcoin, you can still at least mine coins with a CPU. Meaning many more applications like web miners, or mobile phone miners, (Raspberry Pi, etc...) can still 'mine' at least something.

I think that makes a big difference.

Currently every GPU mining BTC is going to made unprofitable within the next twelve months and a lot of those GPU's may move over to LTC mining.  Making LTC GPU hostile will keep the difficulty down making it even more friendly to low power devices (mobile phones, RaspberryPi's, ect...) and web-miners.

Have you all heard the news about - http://www.tricone-mining.com/ - Our hashrate is getting boosted by >25% to over 1GH/s from 0.8GH/s a board very soon and that's after there 5% fee  Cheesy
1886  Bitcoin / Hardware / Spartan6's on P2Pool using a RaspberryPi? on: June 01, 2012, 12:19:36 PM
Anyone tried mining Spartan6's on P2Pool using a RaspberryPi yet?
1887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinEXpress is a dedicated Microcash troll on: June 01, 2012, 12:06:04 PM
"I_got_bummed_by_bitcoins" how much do you expect to make out of the MicroScam?  I don't mind competing currencies I think its healthy (tho I think LiteCoins and NameCoins are better examples) but your Kamikaze defence of MicroScam is blatant.  The closed-source (very bad in the eyes of geeks [the main start-up users]) MicroScam has many flaws and looks like it's trying to centralise all the wealth into the wallets of the "devs" behind it with its protocol.
1888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin - feature request on: May 31, 2012, 09:39:57 PM
I'd like a site that lists the full up to date historical data of LTC/BTC and LTC/USD.

Then make one....

I want bitcoins now...so give it to me lol

I don't have the skills but maybe if the LTC/BTC/NMC exchange gets built in to the LTC/BTC gambling, poker, lotto, sports book and casino gets done that I'm launching a GLBSE IPO to pay for then maybe?

1890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] OpenBitASIC : The Open Source Bitcoin ASIC Initiative on: May 31, 2012, 09:05:15 PM

What's important in the end is that everybody can get a piece of the most efficient mining hardware for, say <1k USD. That is the only way to ensure Bitcoin mining does not get monopolized to a point where Bitcoin essentially loses its greatest strength: decentralization.

@SgtSpike: I wouldn't limit the pool of potential investors to miners alone - anybody who doesn't want Bitcoin to fail in the long run should have an interest in Bitcoin mining staying decentralized. This initiative is IMHO a very important step towards that end. I'd definitely help funding the development of such an open ASIC design!

waiting if GLBSE funding will be available! Interested thx

Seconded Smiley

1891  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [Scheduled Outage] Flexcoin.com on: May 31, 2012, 08:36:42 PM
Hi what are the fees for transferring bitcoins out of your Flexcoin account to an external bitcoin address.  Also what are the fees for sending bitcoins from your flexcoin account to cold storage plus back again and do you still receive interest/discount-payment on cold storage funds?  I could not easily find this information on the Flexcoin website.
1892  Economy / Economics / Re: Impact of ASIC on BTC price - Lowering the Marginal Cost of Production on: May 31, 2012, 07:06:32 PM
I think the first ASIC's are going to be very expensive like OpenASIC is looking at $3,000@8GH/s@100W.  You have to be very interested in bitcoin and be wealthy to spend $3,000 outright on it but my GLBSE listed mining company RSM will be putting forward the motion to pre-order one.  As OpenASIC is not expected to ship until December at the earliest but they may start taking pre-orders in August.  Tho after the block reward half's and ASIC's come out it definitely throws GPU mining profitability out of the window.
1893  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Intersango Exchange on: May 30, 2012, 08:39:31 PM
I thought you process transfer seven times a day  Angry that's like less then every four hours and I've now waited over five hours.  I only use Intersango because of rapid and cheap transfers as the bitcoins are always overpriced.  MtGox GBP market is now at £3.21 well yours is at £3.39  Angry

Transfers into the account are processed every 30 minutes.

Transfers from Intersango to you happen once daily.

This is all detailed on the status page https://support.intersango.com/status

I made a transfer at 2pm BST and it's not in my account yet  Huh

I'm going to order our RaspberryPi very soon so we don't have to rely on my ageing PC which could die any time putting us in big trouble.  The total comes to £49.09 that's £9.99 for a 4GB SD card with the OS pre-installed ready to go,  £5.19 for power plug and £21.60 for the case-less RaspberryPi model B with £7.36 tax to pay.  The supplier has stated six weeks for delivery.  We only have about 12btc in our account which would only raise us about £40 so I may put the other £10 and transfer some shares to my personal account of that value.
If you have not been following our supplier ModMiner thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79637.60) they stated the PCB boards shipped from the manufacture yesterday on the 12/05/29 and as soon as he recieves them boards will start shipping very quickly.  So hopefully they should ship towards the end of next week.  Once we have received them the whole weekly dividend will double.

1898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTCChina - Highest trading volume ever today on: May 27, 2012, 03:46:53 PM
I'm guessing it would be hard to arbitrage this because the chinese currency cannot easily be moved to gox?
If you are determined enough I guess you could fly over to HK or Russia (or any other jurisdiction where banks open accounts in CNY), open a CNY and USD accounts at a bank there and convert CNY<->USD as needed Wink
Not sure if any exchange restrictions apply but certainly CNY bank accounts are available in at least two jurisdictions mentioned above.

Since the beginning of 2011 US citizens can open RMB accounts in person at the Bank of China, 2 in NY & 1 in LA, minimum of $500 - but you can't actually use it for anything except a savings account to then convert back in to US$ unfortunately

“Can I write checks in Chinese currency?” I asked.

“No, you cannot.”

“Can I withdraw Chinese currency?”

“No.”

“Can I go to Beijing and withdraw currency from my account there?”

“No.”

“Can I have a debit card and use it in Shanghai?”

“No.”

“Can I deposit currency in my account at the airport in Hong Kong on my way back to the states?”

“No.”

“Can I write checks in dollars?”

“No.”

“Can I send Yuan to the btcchina.com exchange & buy bitcoins with it & vice versa?”

“Oh sure, absolutely, WTF security - security we have an incident at counter number 2, taze this terrorist, take down - take down.”

“So what can I do?”

“You can deposit at minimum of $500 and it will be converted to RMB. If the value of the Chinese currency rises, your dollar account will increase in value. Then you can withdraw dollars. And it is insured by the FDIC.”

“Why would I want to open an account that I can’t really use?”

“Well, if the rate on your savings or money market account is barely zero percent and if the Chinese currency appreciates between 3% and 5% a year as it is expected to, then you can have a savings account at the Bank of China that yields you much more than any equivalent domestic American savings account with the same FDIC protection.”

According to BoC UK you can - Transfer Your own RMB account with a Bank of China Limited branch in China and Bank of China offers an RMB Current Account in the UK. You can easily deposit or withdraw RMB cash from the account and transfer funds. You can also get a VISA debit card linked to your RMB account - http://www.bankofchina.com/uk/pbservice/pb3/201109/t20110926_1576346.html - http://www.bankofchina.com/uk/pbservice/pb1/201109/t20110926_1576339.html
